I disagree. Svanir hits WAY harder, faster and charges you, whereas the Chieftain is all about dodging the first axe/knockdown combo and you’re golden. Also, it’s more of a team effort to take them down, though it is possible and very easy for certain classes to take them down by themselves. So making them soloable for every class would make no sense towards teamplay.

That one meta event questline in Harathi Hinterlands all the way northeast is a very good one. Goes through maybe 5 or 6 DE’s and starts over every 30 minutes or so. It drops a chest as well. There’s also a champion enemy somewhere nearby that also counts as an event, though don’t remember exactly where that was.
Alatum Interitum
Haha, that’s funny.
I never ever got around to making these potions as everytime I’ve been there, a DE has always been initiated nearby so can get the heart from just killing risen. I’ll have to go back there and see if it really is this broken, as it sounds really bad.
Alatum Interitum
Destroyer crabs. They have a hidden haste and swiftness effect on them and will wreck your melee character’s face.
Just about every imp. They always come in groups and have 10 stacks of hidden might on them.
Alatum Interitum
Dodging is necessary for making dynamic gameplay. If not for that, things such as thieves would dominate competitive play with their endless CnD that would be impossible to dodge, warriors would hit like a truck everytime without fail with their fully charged adrenaline shot from the rifle, guardians would be stupidly OP with their multitude of blocks which would be the only way to avoid attacks, etc.
Each to their own, I suppose.
Everybody have different tastes when it comes to gameplay. Some like slow, tactical battles of wits, such as chess or turn-based games. Some like it fast and hardihitting, having to stay on the move to survive. The game might just not be for you, and wether or not you want to play it, despite montly fees or not, is up to you.

I saw a post way back saying that the troll exploit in fact wasn’t an exploit by a dev. An oversight, maybe, but not an exploit. I would find it again if I bothered to, but you’ll have to take this one with a grain of salt.
As for the TP thing, it all comes down to common sense. If ectos for somewhat reasons dipped below a certain amount and you could buy those, make exotics and still make a profit, of course it wouldn’t be an exploit as the market would eventually stabilize to these new changes. However, when it comes to things like the infamous Godskull sword exploit, these things should be fairly easy to see is not in fact a part of intended gameplay. It was a glitch which you could abuse to make a killing, the troll vs Kholer is part of the game mechanics, which are intended, of enemies attacking each other and therfore not a glitch that could be seen as an exploit.

Destroyer crabs and crablings are some of the most hard-hitting enemies in the game. They are practically on a constant haste/swiftness effect. I wish NPC’s could be balanced more for each individual quest instead of ranging from somewhat useful to downright fodder for the enemy.
There was this one quest in the Vigil where you had to kill invading Risen on a beach in Lion’s Arch. You got an entire platoon at your disposal to kill somewhere between 70-90 risen, constantly spawning. As the battle went on, every single one of them died, leaving only me to fight against a dozen thralls and 3 Veterans every single moment. Needless to say, I died and had to very carefully snipe each risen individually after that.
How’s that for an epic feel? Watching your entire army laying dead on the beach and having to retreat back, only to see the risen walking back and forth with nothing to do because in theory they won the battle and would be able to flood the city, only being limited by the AI and objective? It’s not.
You should be able to lose these battles and have to restart or not lose them at all as it draws away the immersion by getting killed and respawning near where you died. Solution to both of these would be to buff the NPC’s so could actually stand a fighting chance.

Tengu all over the place. (I’ve gone as far as figuring out a name, class and armor i want to wear in case they become playable.)
Though, I would like something of a sub-rase, such as a Branded Charr or a Risen Asura. (Might become a problem for sylvari, though.) Could also be fixed with very creative armor skins released by Anet.
Skritt would be amazing, even for a joke race. D/D Skritt destroying everyone would be very funny to watch.
Alatum Interitum
Yes, the Iron Marches is by far one of my favorite zones for the Dynamic Events happening here. Especially the ones leading up to the Meta Event of killing the Branded Devourer Queen, I would say they’re better than half of the later level Personal Stories.
This is what i wish every zone had, something that draws you in on a grander scale. There of course exists Meta Events in other zones, yet this is the only one I’ve seen that draws you across the map, from the very bottom, escorting smaller devourers and taming the siege devourer, to the top where you encounter various champions to fight.
The Bria one I’ve sadly yet to do, as everytime I’ve been there it has managed to glitch out. I even sent in 3 different tickets of various glitches I found in the forested area alone.
Alatum Interitum
How about no.
Just no.
I’m not even a thief, nope.
“Fix” maybe, but remove?
No.
Alatum Interitum
Considering I have managed better with rangers than every other class, I would say so. It’s a matter of playstyle, of course, but nothing beats a 1200-range class that also has pets which crits for ridicolous amounts(if you’re going with felines), which also can gains haste at the same time as you and, finally, has some of the best abilities on their long-ranged weapons in the game.
Alatum Interitum
Yeah, I’ve seen some bug-like creature in Bloodtide Cove. They resembled the karka very much, with their animations, except they didn’t shoot out those crippling machine gun shots.

Staff build:
30/0/10/10/20
(The points put into Water and Earth is just to make sure i don’t die within the first couple of attacks hauled against me.)
Burning Precision, Internal Fire and Pyromancer’s Puissance in Fire
Earth’s Embrace in Earth
Cleasing Wave in Water
Elemental Attunement and Blasting Staff in Arcana
Arcane Blast, Mist Form and Signet Of Fire as my utilities (I’m a charr, so I swap the signet out for Battle Roar during WvW/PvE)
This build hits like a fully loaded bus. The combination of a buffed Meteor Storm and Lava Font crits for 3.4k and 2.2k respectively. Consider the fact that Lava Font ticks and Meteor Storm randomly hits at any moment, I do alot of damage very quickly. If the enemy decides he wants to get up close, switch attunes for the huge variety of boosted AoE CC that the staff has. If the enemy tries to range me, switch over to earth attune and put on Magnetic Aura. Put a few stacks of weakness on him, then switch back to fire to deal out the hurting. Air to stop a foe from escaping, Water to heal allies and myself when I feel like it. Combine all of this with precise dodging and you have build that is very hard to hit and deal out stupid amounts of damage.
Alatum Interitum
Depends if you are very good with dodging when guys get a bit to close to you. I go with a glass cannon build, which is easy with the staff because of all the CC it gives. Also with the trait that increase the AoE on AoE’s (which you MUST have, or else you’re doing it wrong), I try to get that as early as possible.
So I suggest using a staff at lower lvls, since enemies are very easy to control around with it. I heard the D/D is pretty good as well. Haven’t had much luck with that myself, but i suppose that’s an alternative.
Alatum Interitum
It increases all (small, maybe not the large ones) AoE’s and is indeed kitten near required for any staff to work properly.
EDIT: See post below me, shows that maybe not all of them do. Gonna take the wiki with a grain of salt, though.

That was amazing. I see some potential luring enemy zergs down them for a mass slaughter…
Alatum Interitum
Dayum, all these builds have made me interested in rolling a thief. A continous stealth build sounds very awesome to try out, even if the damage might be lacking. Very intriguing ninja build. Though, I still like being able to take it up close and personal as a guardian.
Alatum Interitum
You have to detonate the net manually by pressing the skill button again. Which, yes, makes it very hard to know if your net is close enough to immobilize them. Though it is an AoE immobilize, which is pretty good. Also, it is probably one of my favorite underwater weapons since the range/damage really cannot be compared. The elementalist trident has the same range, though it is more about CC at close range with that one. The same with guardian trident, though that one is just…well, switch it out for the sinking ability thingy and go straight back to spear and stab their faces.
So the speargun is pretty good, in my opinion.
I will agree some speed-up of the torpedo might be needed, as it is maybe one of the top 3 slowest projectiles in the game.
Alatum Interitum
Have experienced the same thing, although it might be tied to the amount of people that tagged the same mob. I have gotten the loot from them, which throughoutly confuses me, thinking the numbers might just not show up due to everything else happening meanwhile. But since you say the xp bar does not move at all, it might be different factors deciding when you deserve loot instead of when you deserve xp.
Alatum Interitum
I’ve had this happen when I haven’t selected my target even though they are right in front of me, the guardian will leap in just about any other direction than towards the enemy.
I was thinking it had something to do with critters automatically being targeted, though I’ve had it happen in sPvP, so I’m not sure.
Alatum Interitum
Well, try putting something like 20/0/20/30/0. Go with greatsword and that sigil which decreases the damage dealt to you by 10%. Also use a scepter and focus for when you need to put some space between you and the enemy and still deal out a nice chunk of damage. Have a Superior Sigil of Intelligence on your Greasword so that your next hit has a guaranteed 100% crit when you switch back again, though you don’t really need it.
EDIT: Looking over the post again, I realize you aren’t the full 80 lvls yet. I still suggest putting as much of your traits into toughness and some into power. Still, use a scepter and foucs to keep them at bay using the #3 skill, then use #4 and #5 as they get too close. Switch to Greatsword, which should be enough for the enemy to die within the next couple of attacks. If not, switch back to scepter and focus, rinse and repeat.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention which weapons he was using. It was indeed P/D. He also seemed to dodge a whole lot, so the traits mentioned might be the ones he used. It just caught me off guard as I’ve never seen anything like it. Thanks for the help, everyone.
I’ll be more suited for the next thief trying this.
Alatum Interitum
I was doing some sPvP and came up against a thief. Being a guardian I don’t really have an issue with them normally as I am able to tank their setup with half my life left, easily enough to kill him off before he kills. However, this thief was beyond annoying. He stealthed near every 4-10 seconds, dodging near everything i had. To top it of, he had an annoyingly large amount of toughness, meaning he could just wither down my Hp and stealth out to regain some of his own. Neither of us died, though, we fought almost the entire round.
Also important to note, he didn’t use his AoE stealth at all. So I’m wondering, what kind of setup did this thief use or is there any build which resembles this method of stealth?
Alatum Interitum
I cannot for the life of me remeber where i saw it, but there’s a loading screen with a sandcrawler-looking thing with people exiting or entering it. Pretty kitten.
I think it was one of the asura personal missions, though I’m not sure.
Alatum Interitum
As if we didn’t have enough risen creatures plaguing just about every friggin zone out there.
Alatum Interitum
Because getting them tagged to other mobs is too easy and would make them die way too quickly. Though, i agree that their defences might be in the top layer somewhere. Should have watched them take on the kraits in the middle of each borderland. They could practically take capture the place by themselves.
Alatum Interitum
I’ve gotten the Bell Focus skin that you can get from trading in ugly clothings, though I have opened at least 130+ presents.
Alatum Interitum
It isn’t just a problem with downed players, it continues on when they’re dead.
Alatum Interitum
Simple. You don’t fight them. Ever
Run away from everything, you only have to do what the objectives say. If you like fighting, then good luck with those 6 skritts, 2 centaurs and 2 veterans.
Alatum Interitum
Just pick a scout and spawncamp the gift’s respawn location. Use the stealth move before you pick it up for extra swiftness and run like the devil to your base.
Alatum Interitum
While playing the snowball PvP game, trying to pick up the gift after someone from your team dies with it is nigh on impossible. So i suggest making the option to pick the gift up instead of ressing prioritized first.
Alatum Interitum
Everytime i see a thread starting with “Lost Shores” or “Ancient Karka” I feel like bashing my head in a brick wall.
It. Is. Over.
It has been over for a long time, I honestly have a hard time understanding why Anet gave in to all the complaints. Okay, you didn’t get the reward. That’s a shame, but there are other things Anet can use their time on.
It’s been like 3 weeks!
Alatum Interitum
It’s also asura-proof…and human-proof. I remember running into this door a while ago with another person. Neither of us could get through.
I launched myself a good few times in the door with the engi #5 skill before giving up myself.
Alatum Interitum
I remember hearing somewhere in the game that killing Zhaitan would not end all of the Risen. Killing him would only stop the mass-production of the Risen. And who knows? The Risen might have their own ways of creating more undead creatures.
Alatum Interitum
The entire Dynamic Events questline happening in Iron Marches, where you go from picking up a couple of devourers on the bottom middle of the map to killing the Branded Devourer Queen at the very top. The way such a simple DE would have such drastic effects on the rest of the zone…
Hell, it would go so far and say that this questline was better than most of the Personal Storyline. It certainly held me more interested, that’s for sure, considering after playing since release I’m still at where i quit after the first two weeks.
And it was long. You literally walk across the map by the time it is finished. By far some of the best mid-level content in the game.
Alatum Interitum
Tequatl is by far my favorite boss in the game, which is interesting considering Branded enemies are among my favorites and Risen are my most hated. The way he fears everyone away makes him seem so sinister compared to the rest.
Alatum Interitum
Trick question, Charrzooka.
Of course, with the two choices you provided us, I would have to say Warband. Artillery Barrage takes the place as the worst elite skill in the game, for the fact that just about any other AoE skill ever does the job just as effective as it does.
Alatum Interitum
I always found Kylho to be a bit interesting because of the treb. Mostly due to the fact that those who use the treb will dominate the match. It sticks out from the rest of the maps due to the ability to kill half of the enemy team from across the battlefield. But honestly, it’s a stationary target which can be taken out by 1-2 people. It should always be prioritzed after taking the first flags AND directly after it has been repaired.
Alatum Interitum
Ah yes, this is just outside the southern spawn of the borderlands leading to the supply camp. Due to being him being on the very edge of what is their spawn, he found a place where the Invincible status (which is what you normally get from being inside your spawn) affects him. I’ve tried going in to this sweetspot myself while being mobbed by 4 other invaders, but sadly both status effects and stomp goes right through Invincible.
Alatum Interitum
Everything in this place seems to be malfunctioning. The Shadow Fiend doesn’t appear at all during the dynamic event, the NPC spirits doesn’t do anything whne you talk to them and some of them are stuck up in trees and not transparent as they should be. Loggers die and never respawn due to this, making the renown heart impossible to complete. I also discovered that you can ress the loggers without the spirits using the Glyph of Renewal. However, that means there’s a spirit left over with no body to go to (hardly matters since they don’t seem to anyways) and no Shadowbeasts will spawn and attack these loggers.
As it is, both the renown heart and the dynamic event is incompletable in this area.
Alatum Interitum
Somewhere inbetween 1 and 2. I’m happy with the game itself, however the fact that this was a one time event AND a trial period with the numerous bugs that has been experienced, this is not good enough. Improvements has to be made, especially when it came to Phase 3. The battle was way overdrawn and could have been much shorter and at the same time enjoyable.
Alatum Interitum
This was not a good battle. I’m always a fan of hard fights, sure. Seeing almost our entire zerg wipe as 3 vets landed on us was quite hilarious and i wouldn’t mind seeing something to the likehood in the future.
But then it happened again. And again. And again. And again. Even when you thought the encounter was over, 3 more vets and champs spawn at the excact same location that you killed them. It was drawn out
It was an interesting concept. However, not interesting enough to last 3 hours.
Alatum Interitum
I died while fighting a champion karkas and when i tried to go back to a waypoint i got an infinite loading screen. Still managed to get in an overflow that wasn’t finished, though.

You’ve probably seen this post a billion times before and heard same complaints a billion times before. I’m here to repeat it for the billionth and one time. It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to fight a thief, seeing as their stealth lasts 10 times longer than it is supposed to. A thief can knock me all over until I’m dead and only show up as the camera rotates around my corpse. Hitting him is the only way to get him to render for me properly, but by that time he has either hit me 3-4 times and drained almost half my health and proceed to kill me with no major issue or he has fled, walking away RIGHT in front of my FOV. That’s sPvP.
And WvWvW? You fight with a groups of yours, then all of a sudden, bam! Everyone around you disappears, teammates and enemies alike, and the only thing you can do is either stay and get AoE’d to death slowly or run away, hoping your enemies have the same issue.
How long is this going to last? Is this something that is put aside for now on the to-do list or is it something you’re working on fixing, Anet? I’m getting tired of writing my own will everytime I see a thief use his stealth from mile away and still manage walk around me in a circle and backstab me.
Alatum Interitum
I haven’t tried too many of the Black Lion Chests, only used up the keys i had in the bank.
However, I have tried to save up for a weapon for quite some time now (Charrzooka) and i had about 13g. I’m now down to 87 silver after buying two of the skins and a bunch of stuff you get from those bags, trying out the Mystic Forge to see if i could get something interesting.
And I’m not complaining either, just wondering if you also went on a shopping spree?
Alatum Interitum
Strictly WvWvW, eh?
Spec up for dmg and condition dmg, get the traits relating to the effects by critical hit, such as Incendary Powder, get runes which also trigger under critical hits and whip out the Flamethrower.
Since it’s main attack hits 10 times every 2.5 seconds, that means you will get a critical hit almost every time. Added with the Juggernaut spec, which increases toughness and gives constant might, you havee a very powerful, close-range weapon with the ability to hit multiple enemies. Perfect for WvWvW.
Alatum Interitum
Honestly, I think any of these would be beneficial right now.
Anyway, had a horrible experience today while playing EB. Durios was under attack by opposing team and was in the process of being ripped down by trebs and catapults just outside the the tower. Now, we had plenty of people playing online, so it really shouldn’t have been a problem chasing them off and destroying their siege. The tower also had upgraded walls, so and had several sieges spread about it. Yet, shockingly enough, the northeastern wall fell and a horde came charging through and promptly took the tower with minimum resistance.
But we had plenty of people, more than enough to chase off at least all the 20 of them there were, so why did this happen?
Sometime under the assault on the tower, some trolls decided it would be fun to get into a fight with a certain Overgrown grub right by Durios. They advertised it over the chat and soon less and less people started coming for the towers aid. We told them that we needed more people, yet they said they needed more for the grub. The wall having been bombarded for at least five minutes, fell and the tower was lost.
Frustrated, I decide to take a look on this grub situation they had, and the sight made me spechless. 30+ of our people was busy fighting the Overgrown grub, which is RIGHT BY Durios. When the rest that had survived the siege had retreated into Quentin Lake, people were STILL fighting the friggin thing.
Now, I’m all for a little PvE in WvWvW, attacking the hylek camps and ogres is always fun. But when ONE SINGLE enemy mob manages to keep an entire army of people from a tower in need of defense, that is RIGHT around the corner, and manages to survive even when that tower is long gone after 5-10 mins, it’s just ridiculous. The mob becomes a danger, because of it’s ability to draw the attention of an entire zerg for at least 10 minutes while the other teams have the ability to take out a tower with no effort.
As it is, it has too much health and should therefore have it decreased. Or make it rank down to Veteran and make it drop no reward for killing it. A flat out removal seems a little extreme, but seeing how good it is at enduring a player army I would have no problem with that. It can also be used, as i strongly suspect it was in this case, as a decoy by spies from another server.
I swear to god, the legendary castle lord is NOTHING compared to that worm.
