I guested to Blackgate this afternoon on a hunch. I found out that the event was being failed at the Defend stage. Fortunately none of the people who routinely instigate trouble showed up while I was there. People were just having fun. I don’t think it was necessary to refer to the farmers as toxic. There’s too much name calling on this forum :/

Actually you can finish and trigger the scene with Eir and Braham. I’ve had to do this with two characters. During the big fight the option to destroy the totem becomes available while the mobs are still there. I’ve done this with two characters in spite of the ravings of the anti-farmer group.

Kasmeer and Marjory vanish part way during the last fight. Are they supposed to? If not, then why hasn’t this been fixed? If they are, then why were they there in the first place?

I completed that event last week while leveling a Norn Warrior. Some of the changes made to several of the starting events and hearts in Wayfarer Foothills were odd to me. You can’t feed fish to bear cubs but you can disarm a trap and kick a tree. I got the Warrior to level 26 and then deleted it.

Fix minions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

RoxBuryNine.4210

I have a Necromancer and yes, minions are a crutch. I used them while he was leveling. They were awful then and they are just as bad now. My main in Guild Wars was a Necromancer and he never ran minions. Why? Because my Heroes, and later my Mercenaries, could do it better and faster. That said, I have been using minions for parts of the Living Story and they are terrible. They generally do nothing, but they do let you think that you have a small army fighting with you. If they are the bulk of your damage, then you’re in trouble. They are meat shields. They will probably never be fixed although I hope I ’m wrong on that opinion.

RoxBuryNine.4210

I know what the “12s” refers to and I have to agree. I saw the Blix farm a few nights ago get trolled by a small group of griefers from a Canadian guild who were dancing, jumping and repeatedly doing the laugh emote. At the same time some of the farmers were standing, not saying anything and then they left to do other events. It was pathetic in my opinion. But they, and the other other 12s, got their way in the end. Maybe they can celebrate their success on their FaceBook page.

They can’t even figure out how to properly fit many armor pieces on male Sylvari – like shoulder pieces and coats. Or they could take a shot at fixing armor pieces that mix up textures, armor pieces that clip or remove hair, or fix pieces that were poorly implemented to begin with. I’d like to see them take a shot at fixing what there is first. Maybe offering waffles for getting this done would be incentive.

Toxic players when Tequatl is up

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RoxBuryNine.4210

RoxBuryNine.4210

Two nights ago I was mapping Sparkfly Fen with my Sylvari Ranger. I happened to be on the map when players were organizing for Tequatl. All I saw in map chat was general banter and people asking others to come and help. I never saw any rudeness whatsoever. There was also a guild group exploring the area and doing bounties. My Ranger stopped mapping to participate in Tequatl’s event. Tequatl was defeated, not once but twice, because a guild spawned him right after the regular event. It was a lot of fun.

Later in the evening, I returned to Sparkfly Fen as players were organizing for another Tequatl run. Again, no rudeness, no yelling, no cussing. So, my Ranger participated in three successful Tequatl events, got lots of boxes, and finished mapping the zone without ever experiencing any of the allegations cited in the OP. Just lucky, I guess.

Then he went to Bloodtide Coast just in time to load near where the Cobalt Wurm spawns. I got some Egg Scrambler achievement. That event was a disaster but no one was yelling or cussing. Again, I must have been lucky running into players having fun.

I have run into rude players before and they do taint your play. I either block them or try to get on another map if they’re really toxic.

It took me almost five years to get my first GWAMM. The second just sort of happened as the game evolved.

If people only want thirty points to get the HoM rewards, that can be done pretty fast – like six months maybe. GWAMM will take a lot longer and, at this point, I don’t think it would be much fun. It takes a lot of time and “work”.

Guild Wars is a great game. If you get it you’ll get a lot of mileage out of it. People still do PvE. I have friends who still GvG and it’s neat to be able to observe those matches. Heroes make it all playable without having to wait to form a party.

I did all hard mode content with Heroes. Later I replaced the heroes with mercenaries so I could travel with multiple Necromancers, Ritualists, or (my favorite) a trio of Mesmers.

I still go back to work with my Paragon once in awhile. He was on his way to being my third GWAMM.

I say, go for it!

My loading times have been steadily increasing during the past several weeks. It’s getting to be quite annoying. I try to avoid LA and DR as much as possible because those two zones take the longest. I’m still in the process of adjusting my machine, but I still think that there’s only so much bling that any machine can handle.

"Too many here: GTFO" = bad design

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: RoxBuryNine.4210

RoxBuryNine.4210

The problems with scaling aren’t as bad as the bad judgment used by many of the players present.

This morning Wiggins was consistently messed up by numerous staff Guardians and rifle Warriors perched on the ledge (or a tree) near the the ramp to his segment. So there were 6 to 8 players fighting out of range most of the time. Added to that was aggro pulled by people who failed to pay attention to their surroundings bringing more enemies back to the 6 to 8 people on the ground fighting Wiggins. You can blame game design if you want but really, people need to start reading and paying attention to what’s going on.

The group at Wiggins was also consistently handicapped by numerous up-leveled characters. Most were perched on the ledge with the staff guardians and rifle warriors. Again, bad design or poor judgement?

Captain's Airship Pass?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RoxBuryNine.4210

RoxBuryNine.4210

I agree that the Airship should be moved. It could replace the one that’s been hovering over LA. Then it should be updated so that players exit to LA and not a dead zone so they can socialize as much as they want.

My point was that the pass to Divinity’s Reach also offers a portal for travel to other cities. So if the Airship is being hauled to LA then it could also be updated to include the same service. Even if it’s not moved then it needs a portal to other cities like the one in DR.

The Airship does have a portal to other cities. Speak to the Helmsman.

Oh man, I never even noticed the Helmsman. Sheesh!

An End to the Queensdale Train

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RoxBuryNine.4210

RoxBuryNine.4210

It’s interesting to see the comments posted by people who “loathe” the QD train and go out of their way to disrupt it to make people mad. And yet, they seem to spend a great deal of time in that zone. I avoid that zone, not because of the train, but because of the people who instigate trouble and gleefully announce their bad behavior in map chat and then verbally attack or mock people in the train.

The train expects to be derailed around SB time because people sporting legendaries and Commander tags head straight to the Champ Oakheart. It’s not the train that starts the insults, it’s the bullies that come in to kill SB for his great loot. But they don’t care about new players being exposed to that.

Megaservers

RoxBuryNine.4210

In my opinion, mega servers are not garbage. The are more players on maps making events, skill-points, vista and points of interest easier to complete.

My question is, was the entire NSP server population involved with completing the events listed or was it a select guild or two? Several statements in the OP indicate that one or two guilds were affected.

What’s wrong with doing the events with other players? Stop being selfish and greedy. As hafiz said “PvE is still face roll” so get out there and roll your faces.

Zerker nerf is not enough

in Profession Balance

Posted by: RoxBuryNine.4210

RoxBuryNine.4210

The “holy trinity” is not actually more interesting. “Full time healers” are not needed in this game. Players who got used to playing full time healers got used to being carried along in PvE. Now, GvG was a whole different story – specialization was needed.

If a person wants to play as a dedicated “healer” I think they need to form their own groups so they can tailor the composition to their own play style.

The OP starts with the statement that “lack of diversity is bad” then goes on to outline why he/she prefers not to play that way. Maybe work on your skill bar to make it more diverse. Berserker does not need to be nerfed to oblivion to suit your play style, you need to learn to adapt.
