Rather than taking away Water Fields from Ele and Engineer, Thief or such, I’d like to see one field, currently missing :
Nature(?) Field
Projectile – Cripple
Leap/Blast, similar to Water field – Endurance/Vigor giving
Whirl – short immobilize
Aaand giving it only to Ranger. Maybe elementalist on Earth Staff #5, but it’d be very unreliable fieldas it’s line and doesn’t last long, on pretty long CD.
Oh please no. I hate rats
Your minions die in 3 aoe shots? You sure we are talking about engi’s here?
To be honest, most of MM minions should die from grenades/bombkit pretty quickly. Engineer is considered as counter for MM.
Just my 2 cents
I just had a thought… It would be extremaly ironical, funny and clever if the final LS S1 update after Escape from LA would be named…
The End Game
xD
For a evade S/D Thief? So Much Dodge
Avigrus nailed it.
I’ll correct you. Longbow isn’t bad against other range classes or easily kiteable ones. But any Thief, Warrior with a shade of brain or Engineer will probably kill you in a second. Any class with Immobilize, condibom, snares and gapclosers will trash you, because LB is useless vs. them. Strafe is slower than regular running, often “breaks” your skill, kiting in close range won’t allow you to cast things like Hunter’s Shot or PBS, not to mention laughavle Rapid Fail. Instead, you have to face your opponent which means backpaddling and waitfor whole shot, animation and aftercast to finish.
It doesn’t work against any proper roamer. That’s why all roaming rangers run condibunkers
Btw, to get some damage from Path of Scars, your foe has to be either dumb or immobilized. It returns in straight line, which means 2nd hit and pull might be avoided by simple walking. But it’s okay against dummies.
I’m hoping they give us something like poppy has in league of legends, or even Jarvan.
“You’re Mine” 210s CD (after shout cooldown trait) – Player targets enemy, gaining damage and condition immunity to all other enemies. Gains swiftness and stability for the duration, and deals 20% more damage to the target. Duration 10s.
The Crucible 150s CD – Creates a 600 range ring which cannot be passed by players, friend or enemy. Duration 15s, can be cancelled after 3s. Cannot be passed with stability, but can be teleported out of. Allies gain 5 stacks of
might and fury for the duration.
Totally, because Warrior needs even more god mode, especially in WvW and versus AI classes like Mesmers, Rangers or Necros!
If you want to play on cheats, go play some sandbox.
GW2 is not balanced around Ultimates or such.
Well, the best option would be to:
1. Create underflows for less-populated servers. Game should ask if you want to.
2. Separate “Overflows” and “Underflows” into district system from GW1. You open a full list of both and can choose which one you want to join.
3. Specific Underflows and Overflows for Native servers like German or French ones. They can still join other English servers via list, but they’re put in native overflows by default. It helps both us and them.
3 steps, win/win/win
There’s one thing that bothers me quite a bit.
Players who have played first game tend to connect Tengu with Cantha because of Angchu tribe and their role.
Even in-game GW2 has major inspiration in Canthan/Eastern cultures when it comes to Tengu, both in architecture and music. But we have to remember, not every tribe was Canthan and first founders of DoW were Caromi as far as I remember. And they lived on Kryta.
I wonder, when we finally see the Tengu, will they be kind of the same? Keeping Cantha-like culture with some kinds of Bushido archetypes, samurai and simiar beliefs (Celestials as typical spirits, life after death) would assume that Canthan tribes managed to dominate other tribes when it comes to culture. It seems very likely..
We haven’t seen any better lore according to Krytan/Shiverpeak Tengu, we may see good mixture of cultures etc when it comes to GW2 Tengu.
I think that even if NCsoft and theirs Asian testers don’t like Cantha or Tengu, we will see them. They’re already too deep in game and would generate too much $$ to be forgotten.
Everyone running well Powermancers ? I roll one with build created by myself but have yet to see everyone running wells… Maybe in WvW zergs… But really, if someone is running wells… Remember, it doesn’t proc on your target, it procs on first target you hit with any AoE, making it sort of 1v1 trait. Also, it does significantly less damage without boons. It’s a boonhate mostly and required for things like guardians or engineers. It isn’t that scary.
Also, I’m really curious about these wellmancers… You mean, if he puts down wells of Suffering and Corruption, you can’t just cleanse his immobilize and sidestep from them?
Large feature patch comes on March
Remember it’s a Master Slot trait and it can crit that high only for Powermancers. In most cases, it won’t hit that high. It’s a good master tier slot but it isn’t overpowered.
Offhand training is amazing for any Ranger with that setup. It boosts your off hand skills reasonably. For trapper, I run 10/30/30/0/0
If he’s running one, target and kill the Blood Fiend.
With Shortbow… You’re pretty much kittened. I’d suggest Sword Torch and Axe Dagger, it’s more reliable.
If player runs full MM, he shouldn’t be big issue. Remember, many take a trait which causes minions to draw conditions from master and his allies.
It’s all about setting traps, leaping through fire fields, evading and being in move. If you outlast majority of his minions, you should win.
Pets would be welcomed, really! If only they served more as a utility which works and have more useful traits. Examples? Ho ho, many:
-Trait which gives your pet +30% damage if your health is below 50% (Master BM)
-Trait which causes pet to Daze/Fear/Stun/Immobilize foes in 600 range if you’re CC’d
-Trait which causes pet to heal you for some amount of damage done and vice versa
-Trait which gives pet a chance to buff your allies on attack
So many options. But yea, instead, let’s make Pet as a random NPC helper with AI of lvl 3 mob! Great idea!
Necromancer doesn’t have access to vigor. Or evade. Or block. Or rest of these
Consume Conditons
Deathly Swarm
Putrid Mark
Sigil of EnergyYour point is non-existent.
Warrior:
Berserker Stance
Signet of Stamina
Cleansing Ire
Shake it Off
Sigil of Energy
Warhorn buffed or unbuffed
Vigorous Stances
Your point is non-existent even more.
And you missed the point.
You suggest that Vigor should affect Condition Damage same as Protection does with Direct damage and state that every class has access to Vigor.
I don’t say it’s bad, I just get you out of mistake and remind that Necromancer has no access to Vigor. And you list me condition removals and transfers preferably S+D/Staff Condition necro has. Like Wth?
/Powermancer
Or sth like “Champion RNG”
City was one of the best places in-game. Such large, overcrowded, dirty and poor, hopeless against Afflicted. I liked it, with current technology it could give even better impact.
Lion’s Arch get destroyed and we’re gettin a Lion pet…
I smell that it’s the “amazing thing” which was mentiones
Necromancer doesn’t have access to vigor. Or evade. Or block. Or rest of these
Mostly from things like Dagger auto, Life Blast. But there’s something. I heard many times from people on duelling servers, that often my condition damagekilled them, not direct dmg. Now I run a lot of transfers which may be the reason, but couple of these players were almost strictly power, like Rangers or such. They said that over very quick duels, my bleeding alone was doing like 5-6k damage. I was curious of the source of that since I have only 200 condi damage without might and my weapons, apart from Dagger 5 don’t inflict any condi damage.
My “investigation” led me to two traits I use. Deathly Perception and Barbed Precision. With Locust Swarm active, Life Transfer and nearly 100% crit chance, minor trait from curses procs… Very often. It’s kind of funny
Better get used to drinking. It’s part of the education. Teaches you how to drink to not get sick. Gl&Hf Sir
When I agree that Power Rangers may not even exist and nobody uld see a change, Power Necromancers, when played right aren’t that bad.
Sure, they have hard time with Thieves and Hambows, but victory can be achieved. I play one. Is it vunerable to conditions? No, not at all. It counters any condi spec, maybe apart from PU mesmer.
That’s said, I can’t doubt Warrior/Thief dominance in Power specs, across WvW roaming and tpvp. They’re, hands down, easiest and most effective power options to pick up.
If I were to run Heal as One, I’d roll with dwayna runes. Regeneration from it is quite nice.
But honestly, what’s your role? Your pet is too slow to keep on with mobile opponent (felines are terrible at it), you’re tank and hit maybe for 2-3k on maul. You don’t have stunbreakers, you rely on burst from SoW when you have no burst.
Yes, I tried something very similar, it’s okay when it comes to zerg blob, but don’t tell me it will kill any decent player in 1vX roaming.
Ladies and Gentleman and asuras, Let me introduce you a new Hero to fight by your side!
Wait for it…
TRAEHERNE!
Warrior needs a core change, something similar to Ele.
Currently, Adrenaline is no-brainer. Build quickly, spend quickly. Apart from obvious changes like reducing the radius of Combustive Shot (pvp only) and requiring it to hit something to proc Cleansing Ire I have a major suggestion:
Instead of giving Warrior passive, easy option, give him alternative for spending Adrenaline. There’s Offensive Burst f1 ability etermined by MH weapon.
Why not give Warrior alternative f2 defensive “burst” ability, determined by OH weapon (in case of 2h, they would determine both f1 and f2) and slightly reduce
adrenaline gained from AoE attacks like Eshaker or Cshot.
It would open new possible depth for the class without nerfing it. Now Warrior, once capped with adrenaline, would have to decide if he wants to go offensive or pop defense, radically increasing his healing/toughness etc. for a short period of time.
Change like that would prevent Warriors facerolling being offensive with huge defense at the same time.
As I said, Tengu model is not ready yet. If you look at it, it’s Charr skeleton and behaviour model without wet sounds.
They share almost the same standing position, same gestures. Their faces are also not finished or better detailed. I assume current model is close to final one, but it’s not final for 100%.
It is said that in Gw2 tengu are rather “slim”, not as bulky as in GW1 but who knows.
Keep in mind, changes to model can be introduced in one update/expansion, it doesn’t have to evolve in-game.
Offtop: If you’re not yet interested in Tengu, listen to this remixed soundtrack of one of GW2 OST pieces – “The Tengu Wall”

Not even sure I want to vote ranger.. The post says they want to re-balance every class and we’re just voting on which comes first.
If rangers win all they will do is buff us up and we’ll be happy for a few weeks, then they will get round to buffing all the others and we’ll be the worst again :P
ITS A TRAP!
Hopefully working one. Without necessary trait investment
1. Ranger
2. Elementalist
3. Necromancer
Because Tengu have good, well-written story. Because it’s not obvious that they’re good guys who have some heroic destination to slay a lizard. No. In fact, they have more grim, adult story.
Let me mention that before Tengu Wars, one of the reasons why humans went to war against Tengu was because Tengu literally ate population of a human village. Tengu Wars lasted for a long time, involving much bloodshed. And when finally finished, Tengu expected a betrayal from humans…
Now compare it to recent GW2 story.
Also, Tengu were huge part of Cantha story of GW1, beloved expansion of so many players. It was probably the first and last game of this type which had so good Asian-themed story, totally over MoP poor story of regular anime crap. Factions story was actually more mature, interesting. Locations were beautiful and music…. Let’s say many, many people loved Factions soundtrack, including me. So everything even remotely related to Factions and Cantha will always attract GW1 players.
Also, Tengu share some connections with archetype of Samurai, Bushido. They may be relentless, merciless and brutal, but most of them care about honor and freedom.
They’re pain in the kitten , no doubt. Especially if you’re Power. But there are some general directions:
-Standard Medi Guardian with non-1v1-only build should be something like 10/5/30/5/20. Their heal is a block, but it can be interrupted with Wail of Doom, Warhorn skill.
-They’re quite bursty. They open with Meditation Teleport and Whirling Wrath. Make sure you avoid that. It’s rather slow whirl, but will deal huge damage if you allow him to stand on top of you.
-Every of their non-elite utilities heal them on activation for about 2k and give fury. If you’re under effect of burning, they have 10% more dmg on you.
-Meditation Guards wear Zerker amulets. Which means they’re not really tanky. They realy on quick burst, blocks and blinds.
-They have 2-4(If using Lyssa runes) sources of condition cleanse.
Basic one is on 16 sec cd, it cleanses only 1 condition but does huge AoE damage. Part of initial burst.
Second is reversed version of Corrupt Boon – with 48 cd, it breaks stun and switches all his conditions into boons. Be aware of that if you use SoS.
-Lyssa Runes (if equipped)
-4th one depends on trait. They can either run stability on vrtue or 3 condi cleanse on virtue activation (Resolve). Elite refreshes virtues, allowing either for 2x Stability or 6 condi cleanse
-Apart from Teleport and Leap on GS, they’re not very mobile. If you survive initial burst, kite them.
-When they switch to Scepter, gain some range and evade Scepter attacks by sidestepping. They’re slow and fly in line. However, in close range, be aware, they do good damage and are highly spammable. There’s also scepter burst, which is Stationary attack AoE+Immobilize.
General tips – Don’t get hit by Blinds. Kite them. Save your DS for their bursts. Feel free to Fear, most of them don’t run stability. Things like Spectral Wall totally wreck Medi Guardians. And be aware of initial burst.
There weren’t any Elonian Tengu. It’s only stated that after Winds of Change and Ministry of Purity + New Emperor Usoku in Cantha, all non-humans were kicked off from Cantha, including Tengu. Some of them joined Caromi and sailed to Kryta, some went to Elona.
Tengu will be a playable race. That’s not a suspection, that’s a fact.
But not in next two patches. And not in feature patch. They’ll be added with Expansion, probably linked with Primordus.
And even if we don’t see opening of the gates in LA, I’m sure there will be some reaction. According to wiki, Scarlet already tried “alliance” between largos and tengu…and failed, for the first time.
Why will the Tengu be playable?:
-Lore – Compared to other “lesser” races, only dwarves come close. But dwarves are past now and Tengu are becoming more and more “major” race.
-In-game directions – Tengu are already trying to build an Asuran Portalin Caledon Forest. As OP mentioned, some suggest alliance. There are mentions about Primordus minions infecting Dominion of Winds and Wiki and logic suggest that after death of Zhaitan, Tengu look at the rest of Tyria with more interest. Remember, they had to get through Zhaitan forces when they came to Tyria and Sanctum Ray, now they’re dealing with Primordus.
-There are four districts, four winds in DoW, which perfectly fits character creation. Remember, every race has one step of PS creation when we have couple choices, often 4 (Sylvari, Norn).
-Tengu were about to be playable at release, but they were cut off from game release plans due to lack of time
-New MMOs are coming… We know that ANet has been working on “big projects” for over a year now. I smell an expansion in summer.
Only thing that really holds fast release of Tengu currently are their models. Atm, they share skeleton, animations etc. with Charr and it will be changed.
T3 Norn Cultural Medium Boots, Chestpiece, Gloves, random medium exotic legpiece (obtainable on AH or from drops), Starter Hood for Thief, Vigil Shoulderpads (Deathly Avian in future), Ascended LB, Rox’s Quiver
Giving Thieves more blocks e.g. via off hand sword on respective cooldowns would be a good way. Blocks can be broken, some skills are unblockable, some abilities give unblockable attacks (e.g. Long forgotten Signet of Might for Warriors). Adding quick, 1-2 second blocks would be better than giving more evade spam.
Thief could fight classes like Warrior much better, Warriors could consider bringing SoM, Thief wouldn’t rely that much on stealth and wild porting across the map.
It’s pure condibunker. You lack pressure vs. opponents with some sustained cleansing. You don’t die, but neither your opponents. Personally, I like the quality of video, introand music isn’t the worst, but apart from saying “Good video” I would lie if I told it kept me impressed. Liked your previous ones more
Keep on!
Hi there! Decided to post my Ranger, Misspoland
It’s not finished yet, as not necessairly best option for shoulderpads remains, but it will be changed in close future ^^
Hey!
When we’re waiting for new awesome race – Tengu and hope ANet has a vision of it coming in close future (fingers crossed) I thought that I’ll share one of the most beautiful themes from GW2 and sadly, so rare to hear – “The Tengu Wall”.
I heard it only once, today, swimming in Caledon Forest around Dominion of Winds wall and simply stopped questing and leveling and listened to it till the end. So sad that after more than a year, that was first time me hearing it, undoubtly one of, if not the greatest track across the game. More masterpieces like that ANet, less these poor common tunes ringing across all areas!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBIWK7ddLpg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Enjoy and be prepared! Tengu are coming!
If I’m not mistaken, Death Nova proc poison field and N. Traversal does same thing. Isn’t it just that poison stack? Because last time I checked it worked fine
If there wasn’t any mention about Tengu in upcoming patch, it wouldn’t make any sense. I mean, city got blown up and swarmed by Scarlet forces, will they just stop like “Okay, these ones are neutral, skip” and turn back? Nah. Scarlet has to harass Tengu someway. And even if we don’t see DoW opening up, we will at least get some more information.
I think ANet learned quite a bit from the past and they’ll try to split people up more. Introducing such NPCs like those from EoTM with great mechanics, giving them better AoE could punish bigger zergs.
What the game needs is NPC Skill Scaling. Adding new, more dangerous/harder to counter skills with scaling event would be tye first step. You can’t just throw a bunch of powerful mobs with no skill scalling. Sure, better players will overcome them and still manage killing them solo or in small parties, but average player will die and whine.
One other thing I’d like to see is converting that ugly text under every mob portrait to some pretty, informative icons, signs. And for more advanced mobs, possibility to open a small window, explaining mob. Preferably after first fight with one of his kind.
If he doesn’t hit anything, he doesn’t spend Adrenaline, Cleansing Ire doesn’t proc and Burst skill goes on 5 second internal CD. On hit, it will go on 7 or 10 sec cd depends if it’s traited. But
Hint, hint: Burst Skill on Longbow will spend adrenaline and cleanse condis with Cleansing Ire regardless if Warrior hits anything, fire attack for lols or in totally random direction. That’s why it needs fixing and that’s why most of Warriors use this bow as secondary. Besides anormaly huge and sustainable fire field.
… Or “Second Wind”
According to GW2 lore, when Necromancers don’t raise dead, it’s not because they can’t, but it would be not treated nicely by others. One of Necromancer “renegades” is Livia, I she was mentioned in “Ghosts of Ascalon” novel to experiment with animating after last time we saw her. She might also have Scepter of Orr still.
In the same novel, there are two mentiones about Sylvari Necromancer. First, she creates a skeleton from random bone parts around room, half of book later she raises dead Ebon Vanguard soldier.
So, to my point. Technically, animating Skeletons from random bones wouldn’t be something much different than animating, let’s say, bone fiend. There’s an option for that (tbh, we had one “skeleton” in GW1, just not human form – Jagged Horror), but imho, ANet wants to create PEGI +6 game, so we won’t see any serious stuff in near future.
Hey,
So after a year, I think I’ve finally decided to make a Guardian.
Now, I’d like to hear if there are any competitive Solo roaming builds for a Guardian. Now, I don’t mean Meditation one in particular, I look for something durable, not necessarily with high burst, but sustained dps. Please take note I’m fairly new to this class, I have basic knowledge on builds and gameplay from some tpvp, but WvW solo roaming differs a bit.
I want to have good recovery, acceptable condition cleansing. I kind of like Hammer, Greatsword and Sword. Any options for me?
Thanks in advance
For a Thief? Dunno, maybe watch some politicians speaking on TV and pick one. Should fit
Going into a Lich is “blaster” itself in fact. Coupled with Wells is a reason why Necromancers are in GvG/WvW
As it stands for now, players exploring new content. We’ll see in 2-3 weeks.
Currently, I dislike that I cannot find any small, 1v1/1v2 fights across all beautiful map. There are only 3 megazergs blobbing ajd rotating in the centre of map. I can’t find any people on the sides of map, and if I manage to, they just try to get to megazerg as quickly as possible, I feel guilty and unsatisfied killing them.
But I love the views and new NPCs that are something more thanhealth bags and bots to gain imbalanced stacks.
Also, Badlands… So Fallout-ish, kind of diffrent from Crystal Desert, but I still like the theme
Just a little tip for fellow Necromancers – when you run, animate some shadow fiends/bone fiends etc. and once you raise them, swap utility to regular one. You’ll get 10% LF for each one and it won’t put your regular utility on cd unless you use minion active.
