Tbh 10% isn’t that OP. Mind that it’s essentialy only 2,5 second untraited DS duration without taking damage.
There’re also not that many CCs for regular builds. One or two is normal built-in amoun. Only builds which do have very high access to CC are mostly Warriors, Engineers (decaps).
I
Norn female. No doubt. Best armors, best animations.
Just mind you, running “SYG!” and popping it without huge boon cover (5 more boons) may be a worst idea ever vs. Terror Necro.
Those who don’t run cheesy Signet of Spite and actually think when playing run Corrupt Boon.
It isn’t as powerful as it was year ago, converting all boons into conditions, but it’s still 5 convert and unblockable. No Necro will hold himself when he sees you popping Free Fear (uncovered stability) for him.
Things like Save Yourselves, Contemplation of purity and often Pure of Voice+Soldier runes (best counter imo) usage is what will save your life vs. current Necromancer.
But be aware, you might spot good Power Necros. They’re not easy or squishy either
Look at Necro’s Frozen Abyss animation
Would seriously kitten those pesky decap engi builds… I like it
Yep, after we get over with those pesky conditionmancers, let’s take care of those who dare to play Power specs! And then make Siphons their main “attrition” tool! Muhahaha!
Wow. Such Evil. So Balanced. Much Mesmers and Thieves in this thread
Before saying “useless healing” I’d advice you to test it out.
Sure, if you pop it with single target in range it won’t do much. But with 5 targets it can heal for quite good amount, around second heal
In zerg, your personal condition removal is cool if you take Consume as heal, most of the times. Inside the zerg, there’re many condi cleanses so you don’t really need another one. For Chilling Darkness… You know, it’s kind of short duration, balanced around Well of Darkness.
Weakness may be cool, but it gets cleansed pretty quickly.
Quick tip: Regardless of spec, traited Warhorn is amazing CC/ Kite ability.
Wail of Doom is unblockable also, so you can interrupt things like Blurred Frenzy, Shelter heal
“hostage” lol. That would be sokething amazing, escort random player lolol…so much QQ
And, tbh, I like the term “When it’s ready”. If I were you, I’d look foward to more info after they end Living Story Season 1
1v1 most of them are pretty schematic and if you manage to survive berserker stance you should be able to kill them.
THe max you can get with that fear is probably around 9 sec… still strong though.
Max condition duration cap is 100% 4.5 × 2 (or + 100%) = 9
Also when you epidemic your condition duration will effect the base spell not the buffed version so 2 × 4.5 not 2 × 9
Still a fun combo, and fear stacks so you can drop your fear chain before epidemic for a longer chain.
Me and Mkoll tested it out like a month ago. With 50% fear duration in spvp (100% avalible in PvE/WvW) + Moment of Clarity, my own fear was about 12 seconds on first Target, Mkoll achieved +16 second fear on first spread.
It does not have a cap, fear is stackable, it obeys only PvE rules, none of PvP so you can abuse it to max.
Thanks for the tip on energy sigil, forgot about it
As for switching Unyielding Blast to Near to Death… I’ve tested it and I have to say, I like UB more. Piercing for your core damage ability while you outlast people is DS is very valuable, I don’t need any fury tbh and I don’t tend to flash DS much. When I switch to DS, I want to stay in it for more than 10 seconds most of the times, so NtD isn’t a great option. Maybe if I went for Foot in the Grave it would be better, but DS is both offense and defense.
As for utilities – I found Spectral Walk not that amazing for this build. It already has good uptime on swiftness, Spectral Armor gives me protection + huge boost to LF gain vs. burst power classes like thieves.
When I tend to run Spectral Walk and Flesh Wurm in WvWvW, I have to say, they’re both worse in tpvp, especially for my build.
As for Plague – that’s not perfect. It’s a long cooldown, shaves your 1v1, 1vX capability where build works nicely and you already have good defense when it comes to “absorbing” with your boosted DS.
Plague Signet/Well of Power is just another stunbreak which supports allies a bit in condition meta. It’s also a good thing for most meta builds, working around spamming various conditions. With very high life pool, LF pool and 2 transfers+C Conditions I’m in good state vs. condi classes and not only.
As for power builds… You know, I run power in PvE/WvWvW since September l, mostly 30/x/x/30 and never really tested out Warhorn in that combination. It’s a very cool surprise for me
Ah, for Spectral Grasp. It’s nice source of early LF, can prevent stomps/rezzes, pulls pesky spammers off from the ledges and ruins early combos
+ skyham pull
Hey,
So I was asked couple times about my current build I use in tpvp and spvp so I thought I’ll just leave a link for those who are interested.
Whole idea came from one of Leeto ideas with PvP Daggershroud build. When I didn’t enjoy D/D that much, I found Barbarian Amulet, previously unnoticed by me, working quite well, especially with last Vital Persistance change.
To be serious, when I was making this build for lolz this week, I didn’t know it’ll be viable. Suprisingly it works pretty well for me. It’s not any strong meta or anything, but something fresh and enjoyable for me.
Don’t ask me for my utility choices. I just use what I like, since non of them is traited besides Signet (trait can be changed np). My weapon choices… well, it’s probably first build where I don’t use staff.
I found that Warhorn works pretty well, can be used to interrupt stomps/rezzes same as Reaper’s Mark, has lower CD and longer duration + cool animation ^^. Also, Locust Swarm with Deathly Perception is roughly 500-600 dps per target boost in DS+kiting tool and negates LF degeneration, even boosts it. Dagger is just a good power weapon, that’s all
Axe/Dagger also works pretty well. Some weakness for power builds, since you have no toughness at all (mind that! In DS you might be tough, but outside you’re just big health pool ;p), condi transfer on low cd is reasonable, burst and CC+ LF from Axe is cool.
Main role of the build? I haven’t figured out yet. It can hold points pretty well, is nice 1v1, has minimal support with Signet. Has good CC…. Nothing much to add
If you have any questions, message me in-game or PM. Have fun!
I tried it a bit. I think inhabiting Fallout’s turn system for this weapon might me good idea
Hmmm…. For Necro alone it could be something like clever usage of Spectral Walk, Flesh Wurm and Spectral Grasp, but we don’t have that many fun stuff.
However, there’re some hillarious thing you can do with buddy Ranger. One of Ranger’s Pets, Boar, can drop a skull which fears for 4.5 base and has no cap. With Moment of Clarity trait and + condi duration, your Ranger will be able to put over 15 secomd single target fear. You can spread it with Epidemic endlessly, spreaded fear is affected by your feae and condi duration and procs terror.
Watching people running in fear for 30 sec+ is quite enjoyable
^ haha
Hope you and your followers won’t run from moderators
OP, you kind of remind me Snowball from “Animal Farm”
“It is true that balance is precious – so precious that it must be rationed” – Vladimir Lenin
;)
Well, late wotlk had probably best balancw of all expansions when it comes to pvp. Not like it was ideal, but in pretty good state.
Opposite is MoP
Thanks
One more thing: are there any known bugs connected with signet’s active? I think it fails at transfers sometimes for no reason
Hey,
Just wanted to ask really quick. In past, I’ve been not using Plague Sifnet much since my builds were better choices.
However, with my new build I’ve started using it and I have couple questions;
-Does it transfer Blind like Putrid Mark?
-Is there some non-listed limit on number of conditions transfered?
-How does the passive work in general? Does it also affect minions?
-What’s the radius of Passive? There’s only range listed, I believe for active
-Is it affected by obscured?
-If yes, is the nature of active signet stealth projectile?
-If yes, can it be bodyblocked?
-Does it work only if you’re facing the target or regardless of direction, just affected by 1,2k range?
-Does it move conditions first or break stun? Can I transfer Fear that way?
Thanks in advance
Honestly, I’d just merge less populated servers.
Or finally create underflows
I believe same like condition cleanse : from right to left
As said, MM is not a big problem for Engineer. Minions melt in your nades, bombs, whatever you desire.
In general – despite necro build, if he uses Flesh Golem you might want to kill it. Not prioritize, but on occassion. Better Necromancers will use it’s charge CC to chain you.
Strictly for Condimancers, cheesy ones – try to CC as much as you can, save something for Consume Conditions heal. If you put some pressure on Necro and then interrupt our heal, most of average necros start to freak out. Try LoS-ing, kiting and be aware of Spam+DS+SoS+Fear Chain, just block it with shield, shrink or whatever.
As for Condition Transfers – “meta” uses two. In the past, Putrid Mark was a killer, now it’s a shade of the past and transfers only 3 conditions with a ground-targeting and long CD. Another is Deathly Swarm on Dagger OH which is 18 second cd and transfers up to 3 conditions, blinds and bounces. It has very obvious animation so you shouldn’t be scared, again, dodge or even better, reflect with shield since it’s a projectile – Necro will condibomb himself.
As for Power Necromancers – you don’t see many, but again, CC them to win
Cheer up!
We’ll really have to talk if I start seeing guardians running condition
Imo, reducing current Cast Time of Life Blast (1.5-1.6 sec) to proper, listed 1 second and makimg it so it applies burning to pierced targets (if Unyielding Blast equipped) would solve a lot of problems
Honestly, Ranger suck atm, as it always been.
If anything, consider Ele after next patch, they may be a little bit more viable with D/D.
As for OP – if you seek only for PvP, then I’d say not really. It’s still fun, but meta is still kind of the same, however they move in rather good direction. For necros – I see many trying various build combinations, including Power specs (tpvp even). It’s better than 3 months ago.
If you want to PvE also, I think it’s good time. Big story patches upcoming, we recently got 2 pretty fun bosses, ANet is progressin in this matter, no doubt.
Overall LS is still a little childishas for story, but they’re trying to involve players more in lore via various NPCs, giving some story to LS NPC heros… I quite enjoy it
Charrs have a pretty neat racial utility “Hidden Pistol” which is an evade on 15 second cd. Saved my anus many times, extra evade for a class that lacks any hard defense is precious, especially in PvE
When, first time, I didn’t believe that powermancer may work in tPvP, now I do.
Changed build in my way, going 20/20/0/0/30 without staff etc, other utilities, but core idea: Barbarian Amulet – works suprisingly well.
Charr voice… Don’t tell me that some manga scrub would do it better
It’s like…
My Grandma on General Patton’s Manouvers.
She saw the world war, so she probably knows best which tactic would be better. Better than Patton.
Does she?
Do you?
Anusaur for Drake
World Wide Web for Spider
Still cute tho for Siamoth
These are mine
Sad but true, I even heard about people selling places on main server party for Teq during weekends, holidays in prime time for real momey. No wonder, over 1 hour average queue and up to 2h on holidays, who has time to do that
It’s also not said that hybrids are not viable.
I’m not sure what you really mean given the double negative but.. I solo roam with a hybrid and it plays VERY well.. so not only is it ‘viable’, but I’d even argue that it’s the best solo roaming option for necros.
Oh, thanks for pointing it out, didn’t mean to
Yea, they’re pretty cool since they have mix of everything
scepter 3
Feast of Corruption 3% LF per condi, 10sec reusNot as good as Axe or Dagger imo.
It’s not that bad. It synergizes well with Spite Signet. Also, putting 4 different conditions on the target isn’t anything hard. Cripple, Bleeding, Poison, Weakness, Chill, Torment maybe. And you already outperform Axe
More PU Mesmers, P/D Thieves, S/S Warriors, perplexity builds, conditank engineers, Condimancers.
I fear of the day when Guardians will start trying condition builds because it’ll be more effective…
That trait which provides chill on applying blind…
Could instead apply blind when you.chill ;p
I know, not for necro. Fits Warrior more
Considering you talk about roaming solo and 1v1, 1v2 situations, yes, powermancer is viable in here. It’s not that easy to play, classes with high blind/weakness/block/protection/evade uptime are your nightmares and therafore good dps Guardian might be your biggest nemesis (exluding PU Mesmers which are however broken and faceroll anyone in any numbers) which is not comon for condimancers at all.
There’s a thread going on about power roaming specs on this subforum atm, on 1st or 2nd page, about “deathshroud roaming” or something like that. I’d advice to check that and maybe pick one of those.
If you want to roam with power and solo, IMO there are two ways. You either go ol’power dagger build, with mostly PVT or pick one of the Deathshroud variation. These require serious timing, kiting and knowledge of gameplay to be effective with and as Rennoko said, are weak against more opponents since both their damage and defense come from LF generation and Deathshroud.
It’s also not said that hybrids are not viable.
My suggestion would be to either try picking traits and making build by yourself, because this way you’ll know the purpose, strenghts and weaknesses. Or pick one of suggested builds and modify it. There’s no “meta” when it comes to powermancer builds
I think that when it’s maybe not a ideal change, it’s not that bad.
Allows to control your burning and now it’s not a spammed condition. Instead, you use it when you want to put higher pressure for timed spike.
Healermancer. lol.
I can feel the nerf incoming
We are laughed at when we take two bows (and perhaps there is a bit of reason tied to DPS, certainly).
But how many rangers picked the class because it had bows?
In short, ANET has it where playing the class “as the player wanted to” results in others hating your playing the class. Talk about missed expectations.
Sure, some folks wanted a melee ranger but I am guessing the vast majority thought ranger-archer or ranger-pets and a few ranger-traps. In both cases, that would be ranger-worth less (not per se worthless). Fairly sure, the expectation wasn’t ranger-lots of eye candy spirits.
Now let’s talk pets. Ranger seems “woodsman” in the stereotype I brought to choosing the class. What are our best pets? Would you find them or a bear in the woods?
The whole class just feels odd like it shouldn’t even be called a ranger.
Can you have fun with it? Sure. Is it what you expected? I seriously doubt it.Can we still have fun, I suppose. But ultimately, the ranger
I picked ranger to be an archer, but I hardly consider an archer someone who carries two bows. Historically, archers throw down their bows and pick up another weapon when the enemy gets too close for the bow to be effective. Since archers weren’t as rich as knights, they would be using cheaper weapons, not fancy swords, but I’d say this game is doing fairly well at portraying a true archer. Closer than most games at least.
Having a strong ranged weapon and a strong melee weapon can cover up a lot of weaknesses that other classes have to deal with.
If you like bows, pick one. I’d suggest determining whether you want conditions or power, shortbow for conditions, long for power. Then pick a melee weapon. And if you’re worried about stigma, pick any pet other than a bear.
And as for being told how to play, try figuring out talents in the guardian tree, or playing as a guardian when you like to think of yourself as a warrior, not a caster (good luck finding a ranged weapon). Or play as a thief who wants to be an agile warrior, not a lame stealth-backstab machine.
Historically, Thieves were stealing apples on the market square or worked in goverment. Historically, knights in full heavy, plated armor were like turtle turned on shell whenever they lost their horse and if they were able to.move in armoe by themselves, disabled on the wheelchair would outrange them in matter of second.
If I want to play a history-based game, I play Age of Empires, Total War, War of the Roses, Chivalry.
The problem is, this game is a “MMO” and in this type of game, in this theme, someone with a bow/gun/crossbow is a must. Urgently
Official Amazing Ranger Changes
-Dyeable pets
-Water Spirit proc base healing increased by 5%
-Reduced player’s total damage by 10% to balance it out
Smexy i know…..<3
Full achi gloves don’t fit the theme. Either use a chest which covers gauntlets down to the fingers (Feather for instance) or change gloves. I’d suggest going for Khilbron’s set appearnce or Kodan
It hits Shroud Power Necros quite a lot. When we don’t usually stack more than 100% crit damage just to maintain some surv with couple pvt/valkyrie pieces, in 1v1, 1v2 we rely highly on these moemnts I call “clearcast”.
It’s a state when you’re kiting at more than 300 range, have no weakness or blind on yourself, opponents has vun stacks, ripped boons and is under soft CC/hard CC. This is safe state to use your Life Force and put pressure with Life Blast, finishing off enemy if lucky. This state relies heavily on your critical damage, more than any other class, including Thief because every small portion of damage is valuable. It’s pure burst state, if you fail in pressure here, enemy gets upper hand.
Also, not to mention PvE, where most of Shroud Power necros sit on 100% crit chance for most of the time, especially with latest change to Vital Persistance.
Again, I think it was unintened to hit our build directly, since.we’re medicore at best in PvE, but still it’s a ~6-8% dps loss.
Better option than flat nerfing crit damage would be to simple balance current crit damage across all items and greatly reduce scaling after certain level of crit damage, like 100% to prevent full zerkers, which can currently get much more than 100% crit damage.
But yea, who listens to necro. They’re all conditions, aren’t they yet?
I’m more concerned about Zerker stats changes incomijg.
It will powermancers built around DS, since I think from all.classes, this build benefits the most from Critical Damage.
I wouldn’t mind nerfing it’s scaling after passing 100%, but flat 10% nerf.is.likely to.be ~5% damage nerf in WvW and ~8-9% total damage nerf in PvE.
Yet, it still doesn’t solve the problem of PvE dominated by zerkers, meta is still the same, just with descreased speed of speedruns a little.
So in general, straight number nerfs for MM and no worthwile changes to “attrition”
As for Dhuumfire change, I dunno. We will have to see it in practice
It 100% on what build he is running. Condi Necro needs different things than power, which needs different things than MM.
Tips I’ve listed go for General Mesmer and Necromancer class specification.
Taking builds into consideration would be rather the next step and most of them, at least popular ones, share same disadvantages
Every skill considered as Spectral.
However I’m not sure about 15 points minor SR proc affecting this trait.
As for trait itself – I think it’s quite good, you just can’t really see many using that.
As it stands for now, most condimancers will go for Terror for major master and most powermancers spend either 60 points in Spite and SR or build more resiliently, not picking 20 in curses either.
It’s a good thing if you want to be DS tank with taking this, CDR on spectrals, Vital P. and S. Walk, Armor and Grasp as utilities but it has one flaw – DS builds are cool in 1v1, 1v2, but in outnumbered fight they shave it too quicklyanyway
My main goal with Animator’s Vigor was not only Minionmancers. More likely other specs which could benefit greatly from for example using placed Flesh Wurm’s teleport, getting bonus vigor for that move, or taking Bone Minions to PvE/PvP just to proc vigor by bombing them when needed.
I think MM will see some slight changes in the future to make it less passive. Currently, after for example, hard counters as Moa or Engineer bomb spam, your minions die and you’re left with nothing. With that trait, you’d at least have very long vigor, not leaving you that vunerale till cds are back.
As for Demonic Flesh – protection may be a little bit over the top. However, hard damage reverse is a good option IMO.
It could be toned down a bit and have some personal ICD for each enemy in bigger WvW encounters, but it’d certainly solve one of our problems – being focused. Good players would be aware of it anyway, since it’s only 2 seconds and next is in maximum 8 seconds, but it can add whole new level of gameplay.
It also belongs to Spite, since it’s a replacement for Dhuumfire and having even more very strong traits in SR would make it completly no-brainer mandatory and best line in-game (if it isn’t currently)
