I know I shouldn’t laugh, but I giggle every single time when I look upon WC-1, WC-2, WC-3. Overflow?
As long as they provide fun content with a challange bound to it, I see no problem in even ressurecting Zhaitan or Abaddon for the sake of very good fight mechanics
Honestly, when arenas for fun might be cool, ranked ones in just raw form wouldn’t.
The game atm is very unbalanced when you leave classes just to fight each other without any other objective. Things like condi spam, clone spam, PU mesmers, hambow warrior spec, spirit ranger, bunker engi, Dhuumfire SoS spam necro would break the game instantly and if those were to be ranked, oh boi…
What the game needs is indeed proper system like that one https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/PvP-3v3-Arenas-Concept-Idea-for-GW2/first#post3063243 where you can get various effect and flip the fight by taking a risk, having proper tactics and not just facerolling
I won’t repeat after others, because my opinions are not different from listed above. However, I’d like to appeal about situation of power specs for Rangers – on these lists, they should’ve been F rank, below elementalist. You guys really have to redefine Ranger class and revmap many traits and weapons to make it work anyhow. Longbow, Shortbow, Axe OH – These things are in such need (not even talking about Pets) like never before.
The only good thing about Rangers is their Spirits because they provide huge support in teamfights and their heals, apart from Heal as One, which needs some “omph!” (like condition removal from both player and pet if pet is alive/some other condition).
Rest needs major work and despite all the buffs, if core of the class is unfinished and doesn’t work, even new shiny buffs won’t help in any way.
Face it, Ranger is probably one of the most spammy classes, has no skill floor and almost non-existant skill ceiling due to all RNG, pets. It just feels so unfinished. Every utility needs major traiting, class has no viable options than going condition.
We don’t really care if something is pretty or not, we call for working gameplay. If pets have to slide on the ground during their animations to hit the target, so be it, we’ll be happy like never. If in order to change anything you have to do major revmap, remove and add some things to the game, we have nothing against.
We have no synergy between us and the pet, between traits, between utilities. Our highest skill move is essentialy to blast/leap through combo field.
When you consider Ranger class, please, don’t look only at how braindead, broken and spammy Spirit Ranger is. Look at class overall!
Does our pets really need some lesser bleeds, ticking for 40? These pets are never used. People demand reliable utility. Guess why Gray Wolf is probably most common PvP pet?
Well, as for Power builds, 20/20/0/0/30 is usable. In this WvWvW build, you skip Close to Death Trait, which is a big hit, but instead get amazingly good Life Force generation. When fighting for example, a good guardian, my traditional 30/0/10/0/30 may eventually start to run out of Life Force. Guardians have almost everything what counters DS Power builds – Protection, Vigor, a lot of blocks, dodges and blinds + very strong healing and armor. 20/20/0/0/30 is quite better for longer encounters due to that LF generation.
However I strongly suggest going for 30/0/10/0/30 with reduced minion cd. Proper Flesh Wurm and Spectral Walk require brain, especially when you run Power build which I like. It’s not as easy and spammy as our condition builds when your amazing skills come down to pushing Signet of Spite button.
Necro mobility comes from positioning, thinking and experience. You don’t have some stupid “oh kitten” button like stealth yourself, disengage from everyone with one button or such. Instead, you can do amazing tricks with positioning
Release of new pvp maps and modes ( like The Arena map <3 ), pre-story for new zones, slaughtering of Scarlet
While I like some mechnics, I just won’t play it for major reason – graphics. I hate them. I’d rather play Disney MMO than that crap. It looks plainly awful, without any taste, F-class cartoon. I don’t like classes/races and overall sci-fi without any real story.
I feel that this game may be just good for people who ignore everything else, want to pvp and have some refreshed mechanics, simply don’t bother about graphics and stuff. I care, so even if I like pvp, I won’t give it a try. Still excited for Warlords of Draneor tho
Ranger with a bow has been always owning guardians. They’re slow and can’t easily get on you, so it’s often like either you can’t kill him and you leave because you got bored or you kill guardian
Honestly, this bow is very small, seems unfinished and overall crapy. I wouldn’t even bother getting it. There are several very good skins which are not even exotic. I’d suggest looking up into pvp locker
Nice videos
You make nice usage of Dark Path.
I have my fingers crossed because ANet has been talking around that they wanted to move couple Curses traits. Spectral A. might mkve to adept… That would be so awesome
Btw, you could make a guide about best Flesh Wurm locations. There’re few where Wurm works abusing the proper range, like some platforms on WvWvW when you can jump down with Walk, port back, then wait for them, jump down again and port back with Wurm. It’s hillarious
Warrior would not be Overpowered if it did require more skill and had more advanced class mechanics to achieve these results
11. If you stream or post YT videos, it means that your skill is equal to your ego and everyone should listen to your “balance improvements”. Sadly, you’re still being solo’ed by weak Ranger’s pet by ignoring him and then asking for nerf (lol).
12. Forum Community is not entire GW2 Community
DS Life Blast build works fine in WvWvW. It has ton of survival thanks to amazing Life Force generation, high vitality and amount of deaths around. I used to run 30/0/10/0/30 with both spectrals and minions cd reduce. Usually Axe+Focus/Staff. It’s a kitten pain train in zerg and smaller roams. I run CC, Spectral Walk, Flesh Wurm and Spectral Armor + Flesh Golem. With this setup you have probably nearly best possible necro mobility and tricks
@Prysin
Everything may be fine and okay up to the point when someone jumps.on you in melee and you’re not able to kite him. GS has poor damage and barely out-damages warrior passive heal. Whenever you try to leap away and switch to Longbow, by this time every Warrior, Thief will be on you again. And every ranged weapon, especially Ranger Longbow totally sucks if you try to fire your skills in close combat. Well, unless you want to backpaddle.
Backpaddling Ranger. I think it can be translated as “unparalled archer” in ANet’s dictionary
The problem with sword with pvp, especially if you build zerker is.. Ya, I know, you have nice damage, cripple etc, but.. Once you get on target, you’re screwed. Auto chain will kill you.
Even then the auto-attacks don’t scale very well from what I find. I use Longbow, the autoattacks hit extremely hard, I’ve hit i think upwards to 7K auto attack on somebody (most likely an uplevel but still) without attack of opportunity. What other class can hit 7K with just one auto attack?
On my DS Necro, I can crit you for over 8-9k constantly with Life Blasts. With no buffs other than from spec, on proper 80 level. It can even go up to 10k. Ah, and speaking about your 120k damage.. Well. DS Necro with his 100% critical chance can do about three times this damage in the same time. And apply massive vunerability, immobilize at the same time.
Please don’t speak about how great Rangers are in WvWvW.
They’re not.
(edited by Rym.1469)
Go bare hands. You end up in disadvantage as power anyways, so you might get some fun
You wouldnt be replacing ranger you would be replacing one thing ranger is good at. Ranger however would still be picked for spotter and frost spirit. The reason its not commonly picked by organised groups is because not many ppl have lvl 80 rangers and the sword auto is awkward for some fights. It has the problem of pushing bosses off of los spots and makes max melee on bosses like lupi impossible.
My point is if you want blind, vuln, aoe and control conditions and higher single target dps. Necro could fill that role. Atm the lack of fury on necro means other classes fill those requirements better. Its the mixture they need to get right to make necro a more popular choice.
As we speak about Melee, Rangers and Lupicus… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cVWh3bKt4&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Honestly, the reason why most Rangers suck that bad is a major failure in design and descreption of Rangers by ANet. Also, players who had played GW1 as a Ranger mostly. Both kind of, well, prefer ranged combat and we would really want to be those “unparalled archers” instead of – skill ceiling petting zoo class.
As for Rangers themselves – If you fight a boss with a lot of one shots, AoEs and that crap on short cooldowns, not even best Ranger will keep his pet up 100% of the time if you want pet to deal damage.
Unless you come to situations stated above, Ranger can deal more damage than a Warrior to single target and bring some helpful buffs to party. But, but. Rangers totally SUCK when it comes to any AoE. Now, most Necro specs don’t. Condition ones are superior in there, obviously, but even DS Power Necro can bring nice, very bursty and deadly AoE (WoS, maybe WoC+ major boost in damage, Shackles, Life Transfer = Tons of bursty AoE). So when Ranger might bring more buffs to party, both classes have nice single target damage (Rangers can cleave in short radius, but instead we don’t have to care about buggy, crap and dying class handicap mechanic all the time), but Necros bring better debuffs and AoE
If you run mostly Axe, want to make use of Life Blast or both, take Axe Training. If you don’t, run other things. Simple as that. Even the name of the trait is good tip, isn’t it good enough?
Lol, maybe massive Spectral Grasp as one of the skills in DS? “GET OVER HERE!”
Spectral Grasp is kind of awesome. The projectile is arcing so ithas greater range than listed I believe. Not only it chills and pulls which may be nice in some dagger builds, but it also generates fair amount of LF, much greater than listed in descreption I think. It has a use in my DS PvE build
My advice – try PvP now. 10 Christmas Gifts is around 25 silver on TP now and every 10 costs only 200 glory. Not counting money from playing, winning/losing matches, you can get easily around 500-600 glory a match even in tpvp. I find it fun, profitable enough and not boring at all. If you are a decent player with any skill, you’ll also earn decent money
A Ranger you say? No cookie-cutter builds or classes you say? Well, you’ll see everything in time. But it’s not yet I suppose so be welcome and have fun
One advice : If you come straight from World of Warcraft and seek to make a Ranger based on Hunter experience, better delete the Norn and make another one, with another class
Now, seriously. If you’re new to the game, you’ll be just better with deleting your current character (unless it’s 80 and fully geared at least with exotics) and making a new one. Leveling in this game is fairly quick and very easy. Otherwise, you have to spend some real money and buy one-time barber item (+ is, you will have more hair options in this case) or at 80 level, farm around 20 gold.
Berserker Stance is not really a problem. You know that they have this and you just wait for it. I haven’t meet any Warrior 1v1 on both Necro and Ranger that could kill me in those 8 seconds when I was prepared. If you’re a necro, that’s probably nice idea to do some power damage with DS or just simply hop into Plague and don’t give a kitten
I’d say that Engi’s Automated Response coupled with their insane tanking is far greater problem
Let me guess… A Thief or a Mesmer player… Nuf, nuf, I smell bull***t
We can only hope that future design of PvE will be more suited for us. I can see some progress already, like in Tower of Nightmares
Mesmers are not actually balanced, just from my view and feelings.
But as you say about Rangers… That’s not really true. A good trapper Ranger, you know, forgotten spec, hardly modified can be very strong. Properly played, it’s better on 1v1 than spirit ranger. While it doesn’t provide that amazing support as classic spammy Spirit Ranger with his burns, protection and other stuff, it excells in holding close/far points.
Agree with OP. In game about capturing and holding points, the more bunker guardians and engineers, the better
Necromancer. Personally, I’ve been playing it since October 2012 with Condition spec. It was such a cool time back then, with Corrupt Boon working on all boons, Putrid Mark actually supporting your allies and transfering ALL conditions which was plainly awesome. Everybody were whining about how UP is necromancer, we were considered like bearbow rangers of WvWvW. Go D/D god ele they said. Go BM bunker ranger with jaguar they said. And yet, with a little bit of thinking I was able to kill all of them, timing skills. June 26th even kind of nerfed me because of corrupt boon (oh, my beloved lyssa runes thieves, how I miss converting your all boons in the game into all conditions in the game rune ;/). A year ago, playing my Necromancer and countering all those OP classes was fun. People clapped to your victory with those.
Now, when I log in on my Condimancer, played with basiclly same spec for over a year, I hear just plain hate about how noob I am for playing my beloved class, with same stuff I’ve been playing for long time, without any cookie-cutter SoS, Dhuumfire… It’s just sad. So I’ve recently switched to Power Necro, at least outside tPvP and playing Ranger, ekhm, trying to play it with power builds also
There’s one, small advantage of DS build over any other : Underwater combat. Basic DS #1 while hits less than land version, has very short cast and almost no aftercast + transfers condition. It out-damages eery other dps option underwater for necro and not only I believe
Signet of Spite is very useful for a Deathshroud build, because it boosts your damage passively, and gives you a nice cooldown to use while not in deathshroud to apply pressure or weaken your foe.
For PvE, idd. For roaming, it’s a dead slot. Trust me, proper DS Life Blast Necro has enough pressure to threaten anybody who’s not total tank, fully buffed guardian with zero damage. And for those you have some boonstripping.
But to make pressure with your Life Blast, you have to have couple tricks. If you know that the target will stick on you for some time and apply constant damage, activate Spectral Armor and hop into DS, you’ll have both nice sustain and counterpressure. If you’re chased, you want to trick the foe, get rid of nasty melee, use Spectral Walk. If you want to take advantage by positioning, lure the foe closer or use hard stunbreaker, use Flesh Wurm. That’s why I carry all utilities mentioned above in my roam build.
The thing about DS power is that you have to have some tricks and defense. You can’t get much passive defense by gear and traits because it’d reduce your main idea of the build – very heavy hitting caster. So you have to take active defenses. You lack vigor, blocks, evades, but you may trick your opponent and have nice LF generatiom at the same time, giving you sustain and possible dmage. You may not take your advantage. I do
I’d suggest you to try conditions first. They’re easy, effective and you’re tanky. When you get more experience, awarness, you can try DS build.
Kill minions, honestly. As a GS mesmer you can have big troubles with MM necro since it’s kind of counter for mesmers. If you see that he uses Blood Fiend, kill it quickly. It will either just put his heal on cd or force to heal in maybe not the best time. Necro can’t really heal his minions. My advice: take a staff. It has bouncing projectile, put conditions and try to keep minions in chaos field.
From your runeset choice, I assume you’re roaming. Personally, I take just S. Walk with reduced cd, without any passive movement increase. Good uptime on swiftness which is greater than 25% anyway, you save money and runeslots.
If you insist on having that passive movement increase, I suggest to not buy whole, expensive, traveler set. Just runes of speed. Vitality is always good for necro, especially DS one and you can balance crit damage loss with other gear pieces.
Now for the wells… If you think about Wells when roaming in DS build, forget about every single one, maybe except of WoP. Every Thief/Warrior/Mesmer will ignore your well and immobilize. You’re better going with Flesh Wurm as combat trick, LF regen, escape tool and stunbreak.
If you ask about best well for PvE, I think choice for your role is quite obvious: Suffering. Low CD, AoE damage, with Deathly Perception crits everytime. WoP may be cool for some situations tho, like Tequatl fight, constantly switching poison into regeneration.
DS power builds aren’t that bad in either damage and survabilitg. When they lack sustain AoE damage in longer fights, they are capable of having extreme power AoE damage in short period of time, we also can pierce with LB up to 3 targets which isn’t that bad. Build generates insane amount of vun, however mostly single target, has very decent survability via very high LF sustain. I run either 30/10/0/0/30 for Reaper’s Precision, or 30/0/10/0/30 (mostly W3 spec) with reduced minion cooldown. Why minion? Well, for PvE, I usually run Spectral Grasp for chill, interrupt and mostly for LF, WoS for AoE and SpectralArmor/Well of Power/Signet of Spite/Signet of Undeath or Shade minion. Why minion? Because it’s very nice to have some little more DPS, it also helps with LF generation.
In theory, it might not click for you. Good sustain with almost pure zerker build? I do carry some valkyrie armor for vit tho.
The thing is, even in long boss fights, you’re able to easily get around 50-60% of your LF back in a matter of seconds, not counting any deaths, so you can stay in DS for days and eat very, very much damage over whole fight if needed.
I like it
Necromancer is like Nostradamus. To rezz people with his signet, he has to forsee the future wipe in next 3 seconds!
Unless they run -98% reduced chill/cripple effect, you’re in okay situation.
I usually carry Spectral Wall for Warriors and Thieves. It’s very handy.
As other’s said, try to use your cool stunbreaks. Flesh Wurm and especially Spectral Walk will give you nice advantage. You just have to practice. Ah, and if you simply don’t want to dodge or eat his stuns while under zerker stance, hop into plague.
I use typical mouse and normal keyboard. Necromancer isn’t a hard class to control. I have dodge under my shift, which I find good enough, weapon switch on ` (deafult I believe), WSAD as other said, A,D – strafe, S- U-turn. DS under mouse wheel click, utilities :
6- for heal
-Q- first utility, commonly something with bigger cooldown or more situational, like Corrupt Boon
-E,R- Combat utlities, handy
-G- Elite – just because I have long fingers, got used from WoW and it’s hard to missclick for me
It provides short water field. If you run with bigger group, that’s a good thing. But not really amazing for dungeons
You’re not. Charr dancing to “Coleen” of The Heavy was worth those 400 gems. But if I may suggest – be it a upgrade if you already have volume 1. Just make it switch between volumes like flute for example.does between tunes so we can combine moves and.don’t carry two books
I play as a trap/survival Ranger in tPvP.
Thieves are usually not hard in my build since I do have pretty short cooldown on both traps I’m using. Trap Ranger can be a very interesting fight. When this build is weak if you harass it at range, good ones will always try to force you to play in smaller, restricted area. Most Thieves I see melt vs. me in couple seconds, but there’s a very strong counter a thief can use vs. Trapper. It’s pretty simple. Lay down stolen Healing Seed down on activated traps. It will negate most of the damage at start, before I cover DoTs with other conditions. If you, as a Thief, slowly harass Trap Ranger and remember about necessary cleansing, you may kill even a good Ranger. If you rush in and try to heartseeker/Flank Strike him to death, you’ll melt. Most trappers run at least 2800 armor
Thanks all for responses!
I have few things to point out :
-I have nothing really against champion trains. I just don’t really approve the thing that we just run with massive zerg and spend time doing exactly same thing over and over. It isn’t fun, it isn’t any challange, it isn’t any risk. Yet it gives best money...
-By saying that most unique things such like minipets should be account bound I adress this to specific, veery large community of people in this game: collectors. I bet that if my system were implemented, they’d hunt for exclusive pets and still have fun exploring the map with a little bit raised difficulty. Sure, things with stats and some others such as weapons, armors etc. should be tradeable, because carrying useless stuff you can’t use is bad.
-If you leave unique things earnable by gold they’ll end up a legendaries - more common than masterwork items. Adding tokens to everything isn’t a solution either. It makes stuff timegated, people rush, rush for these tokens just to get stuff quickly and they then leave it forever.
Proper RNG isn’t bad. It keeps people playing the game, it’s always that excitement when you drop something good. With token system it’s just like "Ok, two more runs and I get that". Why do you think that Diablo 3 was such fail compared to Diablo 2? It had really cool story, smooth gameplay, nice classes. No. Because you were able to buy everything by gold and real money. Best geared players were best auctioneers or those who had tons of money irl not dedicated players. That’s why Blizzard closes Auction House in D3. I don’t call to close TP, hell no! Just reduce it’s importance and role in the game. Guess what? New Expansion for D3 will be totally based on RNG. And everyone likes that, nobody except of goldsellers complain.
If you have same chances of getting certain unique item as other player, I call this fair. If you have to grind endlessly and some player with a lot of gold can just buy it right from TP without any effort, it’s not fair.
-Champion Train isn’t the only way to earn gold. This change would not only shave prices a little bit, repairing economy from bot gold, but also encourage new ways of earning gold.
As I said, it’s not only champion rewards redesign. It influences whole areas and rewards. As you progress in rank, you get more karma, gold, better drops, more money from DEs. It could go well with repeatable heart quests, suggesten in another topic.
It’s also a change in vendors. Let’s say, previously some karma vendor was offering you packet of herbs. Nobody really wanted that. What if, after you get certain rank, he could offer you T6 mats for karma or tokens gathered from playing around certain area? Now we’d eliminate "TP only" from gathering your mats for Ascended things. Get your stuff by playing the game! Make karma actually worth and usable for something!
Champions could also have pieces of Legendary precursors. Obtainable by drops or tokens. You remember all those collector mobs in Guild Wars 1? With exchangeable good stuff for "trophies" they wanted? Bring it back! Precursors could be really obtainable in this way!
Why not even make a cool story/quest about every precursor? Let’s say you drop some small part of Dusk. When you click on it, you’re told to visit some NPC in the game who can tell you of possible places of other couple parts. With every NPC, you may get some cool story or tale about certain Champion/place where you gather your pieces. It’d bring so much to the game! Think of it!
There’s a lot of stuff to do with this system. It wouldn’t hurt the economy, I bet it’d bring more players into actual world and make precursor scavanger hunting nice journey! And still would be very profitable
Hey, I’ve recently made a post, quoted below, about Champion Farming in general, how to cut it down and bring more people to whole game world. I thought these are nice ideas and I didn’t want to let it sink. Discuss
“Putting a daily chest limit for Champions would fix it period. Increase rewards per mini-chest, but you can only receive it once a day. Queensdale, Frostgorge Champion Trains stopped in one minute.
If people would like to get more Champion mini-chests, well, they’d have to visit other places, search for them and don’t rotate.
For people saying it would be an exctinction of world…erm…Those people don’t explore the world, they just rotate over and over, they’re just pure bots. Heck, I heard that they even run only pre-thought paths to get to the boss as quickly as possible. They count every step, every little detail..That’s kind of sick.
Also, adding one, one low RNG reward with some cool skin or minipet, or anything unique to each of Champions would bring totally new life to all areas in the game.
Another idea coming with that is very simple. For each jumping puzzle, dynamic event or sth like that done, you could have gain small boost to loot per champion. That boost could be daily boost or weekly. It’d further encourage masses of people to do events, explore dungeons, jumping puzzles, just to have increased loot for area. It can be even rewarding for “explorers” player type. Generate random buffs which can be obtained by random exploring.
There’s a lot of stuff that can be done to bring people back from LA to every single zone in the game. Those are really quick, simple things.
How that “increased loot system” would work? Well, kind of similar to Horde chain quests in Stonetalon Mountains currently. For those who haven’t played WoW, as you progress through quests, you get kind of a map title, progressing with chain quest. From dunno, sergant to general or something http://www.wowhead.com/spell=78054. Adding similar thing to GW2 system would be plainly amazing.
As you progress through the area, you start to receive Hero Points. After certain amount of points, you hop on another rank.
Rank names could vary from different areas. Examples:
-Slayer of the Branded?Vanquisher of the Branded?Cursed’s Bane
-Watchman of Orr?Gravedigger?Undeath’s Salvation
With each rank, total loot should be improved, chances for unique things, money and karma awarded from DEs, quality of things from karma vendors, vendors overall higher. But also mob scaling should be greater for the player. Just simple scaling like in DEs with damage, hp etc.
Now, these ranks could be for whole area (Shiverpeaks, Ascalon, Branded part, Maguuma) or for certain zones (Queensdale, Iron Marches, Caledon Forest) and they would reset every 24h or every week/month (one reset each week should be fine).
Unique items obtainable from Champions (affected hardly by rank), zones etc. , should be as I call them – Unique. It means that when some of them should be tradeable, most of cool stuff which can be used cross-characters (unique backpieces, fun stuff, minipets) has to be Account Bound!"
Precursor idea in my first response below
(edited by Rym.1469)
Note that in your statement, you’re talking mostly about condition builds.
They’ve been always fine for Ranger. Traps are still useful, just not as popular and braindead as spirits are. Spirits are another condition based build, working pretty well. When we talk about BM Bunker…well.. that build back in the days could roll either with condition or power, both were okay, the core was the pet anyway, unaffected by your stat choices.
Most of PvE is another braindead aspect. You can roll with a Longbow or Greatsword in zerg because there’s no need for skilled gameplay or such. It’s easy, low risk and low damage, but you still have your tags and everything seems okay. Dungeons are just simply another meta, where you spec for maximum power damage and avoid occasional red circles when speedrunning for rewards. I mean, every class can spec in some way to deal nice power damage and be okay in dungeons, this aspect of the game tells nothing about Ranger as a class and mechanic itself.
Place where you can judge class design and gameplay is PvP. Either solo/small roaming in WvWvW against other roamers (not zerglings) or tPvP.
In both places, condition spec ranger is okay. You can use MH Axe, Shortbow, Sword, Dagger, Torch. The End. All of these are good when you play conditions and have good, useful 1 or 3 skills. Other weapons and all power options are crap. They lack basic utility, tend to have no damage at all.
The thing is, condition ranger works cool because conditions scale like for other professions. In this scenario, having a pet is a cool thing, because it doesn’t handicap player damage. If you go power, not only weapon choices are very bad and tend to not synergize at all (coolest example is Longbow. Let me quickly describe this weapon for you:
-In theory, it was a sniper weapon, that’s why it has long range and long range shot design. But it’s laughable in concept because: Who would be ever afraid or Snipers in real life if they were shooting gum balls at their targets? Because that’s how current Longbow works. It has no reward for keeping distance, apart from distance itself which means NOTHING in current game design. Obviously weapon made for kite has no basic kite tools at all. Hell, only cripple requires you to be stationary, cast it for a long time, has long cooldown and does no damage. Other examples? Sure! Rapid Fire, Hunter’s Shot, Auto Attack, PB Shot. They’re all wasted slots. If target gets closer to you than 300 units, you’ll break every single one of these skills when trying to kite. Instead, you have to turn face to face to your enemy, what takes hell lot of time, start freaking BACKPADDLING, pray your enemy is stupid enough to not simply evade/dodge/block/LoS or go on your side to break the skill anyway, wait till whole animation and aftercast is finished. Then, finally, you can enjoy the fact that your weapon skill actually DID work anyway. In process, you’ve lost your whole distance, you’re probably slowed and lost about 1/3 of your hp. But hey! You’ve shaved 20% of your target’s health over 5 seconds or got a quick KB/Stealth which will allow you to do…erm…nothing? Because the foe will be back on you within 2 seconds? -.-)
And Your Pet halves your damage.
Essentialy “Go Condi or GTFO”

It means that when some of them should be tradeable, most of cool stuff which can be used cross-characters (unique backpieces, fun stuff, minipets) has to be Account Bound!
As a Conditionmancer you should’ve good, soft start. However, as you slowly get into sPvP, try mixing up your builds, utilities, gear, weapons. Meta builds you will find on the net, claimed as to be “the best” are not the way to go. Customizing your build to your needs and playstyle is a first step. For example, not many meta builds for Necromancers include Epidemic in their build. However, if you like fighting with more than one person, you may find it very useful. Keep in mind that most of current meta builds are designed to work for 1v1. I’d strongly recommend you to go check all your utilities out and look for “Tips&Tricks” threads for your class. You will find very useful stuff, like how Great epidemic can be when fighting a Ranger, when comboing with other classes abilities to e.g. achueve 16 second AoE fears etc.
Try to play 5 on 5 hotjoin type. They have less zerging. If you feel confident enough, you may try 1v1 servers. However, it may be tough experience. But don’t be afraid to watch people playing as a spectator!
If you want to carry team, take guardian. They’re always welcome
Mesmers are queens and kings of 1v1. However, if I have to list something else… :
-P/D Thief – good ones are a pain to fight. They’re still kind of vunerable to mass condition spam, but they often have huge counterpressure and play very attrition-like.
-Good Necromancers – I don’t list those fotm players rolling around with no brain, I talk about people who actually had big experience with that class and wisely use everything Necromancer has, not facerolling with spam
-Warriors – because, well… Loads of them and they have nice mobility, condition removal, burst, lockdown, healing… If you spot a good warrior, he’s a problem. If you spot form reroller, he dies quickly
-Engineers – They have weaknesses, but most of them, playing pvp can manage their own class pretty well
-Gaurd imba heal – because who likes dueling guardians. They take 3x more time than other classes. Most of them are pretty easy, but I fought ones who really made me nervous about winning fight.
-Spirit Rangers. When most people find them hard, if you kill sun, nature spirit and kill pet to prevent EB, 99% of them are no threst at all. It just takes some time
Hmm… You really don’t play a Ranger, do you? “Sword evasive Auto-Attack”…That’s a funny thing, considering Sword Auto-Attack is just plain opposite. It roots you and doesn’t really allow to move until chain in complete
Also, I don’t really get your suggestions about Necromancer. Imho, if you nerf currently OP Signet of Spite so much, nobody will ever run it. I’d just redesign it to be more like Power, because very few people use it with combination with 25 minor in curses and that was it’s destinated combo I believe.
Now, I don’t get why do you reduce already minor power damage from scepter. To force even more players playing condition spec? You know, it’s damage is like 1k maybe in meta builds. If it crits.
Problems begin only when you use SoS followed by Feast. Then you can get nice amount of LF instantly, but I wouldnt call nerf for it. If you can nerf LF generation, you have to no
t only nerf, nerf, but also give Necro other surv tools
. Now the fun stuff. Your entire suggestion about Warriors is to well…bring them back to state from last year. Just a little bit nerfed.
Warrior, same like Mesmer, Ranger and Thief, needs great redesign, because the core is broken.
Now, if we talk about Zerker stance, Diamond Skin etc.
I think, at least for Warrior stance, there should be something like tgis: For 8 seconds, all condition duration on you is reduced by 33%. Conditions don’t do damage to you.
This way, you can still kite Warrior somehow, Fear him etc, but it’s just like Endure Pain. You can also still stack conditons, but their duration is decreased and they don’t do any damage for duration of skill.
You see, Grizzly, your balancing is just mixing numbers when I feel, that to achieve balance and keep fun of playing, we need major overhaul, everything else is like using bandage after deceptication
Roll a Mesmer pinky for PvP or Warrior if you want to PvE
