A-net has consistently told us that pet F2’s will not be fixed because they do not know how to without apparently “breaking” tons of game mechanics. In the game that they made, they are unable to fix a simple responsiveness problem.
And then they wonder why most Rangers don’t even bother using their pets or taking care of them…they’re nothing more than worthless in anything but PvE, and even there they’re worthless (most of the time).
Yes, because we’ve dealt with at least 1 server that will outnumber us and will almost guarantee first for themselves the past 2+ months. It’s become our usual job, if we know we’re not going to get 1st.
We can try to hold you off during the day, and that’ll be good enough for us. We don’t expect a 1st place win, we’re going to gun for a 2nd place one.
Nice jobs and fights by all tonight. DB, you guys don’t let up and fight hard. And BP, I see your bigname guilds are out running around and giving us a hard time. I’m heading to bed, but good luck to all!
Very nice fights all around in Ebay BL. Nice job to all, and DB…you caught me after I got unlucky enough to get unstealthed in front of your zerg in Hills. I wish you could have heard me scream “WHAT!? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!” XD
EDIT: I feel so loved by you guys. All 20+ of your guys, for me? All I was doing was CnDing the wall in Hills (the 2nd time in) just for fun and to see how long I could remain in stealth. I never expected you guys to come for me. Oh DB, you really know how to woo a thief~

Look at that spot, and then go inside. You will see a wall that’s at a perfect spot for the angle I showed you. As for the other one, I have a sneaking suspicion it’s the upper level at the vista in Garrison. You can see it clearly from there, and it looks like it’d be possible to fire from there, but be right on the edge of the range.
Here’s a picture of where I’m at during a tower taking on BP’s BL. As you can see, there’s that small area above the gate you can target and shoot through. Due to the tower’s curved wall, he could hit you despite you being where you’re at.
I was able to see your location from that point. It’s a tiny window, but it’s possible to shoot there.
Still going on about that alliance thing? There was an alliance during the last 2 days or so of the SBI-YB-EBay match because SBI had been complaining about it all week. Otherwise we focused SBI much more than EBay, just like we did during the matches against BP during League. BP caused that themselves, due to their reputation. You made both opposing servers focus you.
Precisely what I said above. Their own actions didn’t warrant any need for an alliance between our servers. That came naturally and didn’t require any planning or conspiracy on our part.
You know, people would be more likely to forget about your alliance with Yaks if you would just quit bring it up.
Nahh, Zara would never let her server forget.
That’s probably exactly why reveal isn’t working on it jc. If only we had more access to camouflage…imagine being able to stand still for 10 seconds to drop aggro during a tough boss fight.
i has 30 point into tactics for my healing banners so i got empower ally as well
Glad to know I’m not the only one. I think of my warrior as a mix between support and damage. Running banner tank trait build, but also full zerker equipment so I can also keep up some mean damage outside of banners. I don’t plan on using him outside of dungeons and PvE.
This is the problem:
PVE = Condition damage is crap. 2/3 conditions only have one stack so only one person can maintain them and it’s a crapshoot for who that person will be. Unless they change the stacking system (Which apparently they aren’t going to do because of server limitations?) they will always be crap.
PVP = Conditions are borderline overpowered.
This is how it is, PERIOD. They are only OP in PvP, albeit barely. PvE, they are underpowered.
If Healing Signet needed a nerf then they would’ve of done it this patch. Obviously they’ve tested it out and saw no problem with it.
Anet…testing? Excuse me while I laugh at your naivety. If they DID test things, Ranger would be in a good place, now wouldn’t we?
What build are you running and what gear is the ranger in the picture running? I tried to reproduce the effect and could not.
Edit punctuation and to add what level is the ranger in the picture?
All of this. We can’t answer if we don’t know.
It’s Christmas and gold sellers are perhaps betting that it’s worth the risk of losing several accounts if they can sell well.
This is most likely their thought process.
Well, I suppose mission accomplished?
Congrats
I’d like to add to this congrats! Now join us in Wintersday fun! We can have ruthless Snowball fights, give to the needy Ho-Ho-Tron, jump the Wintersday JP, play with some bells, and even destroy Tixx’s toys in his workshop (my favorite)!
Actually, I think the better solution is that stability should clear and prevent immobilize. Also, stun breakers should be able to break any immobilize/root in the game.
I disagree stability should not be a total get out of jail for free card, it is very powerful as it is now anyway. There are specific skills in the game to remove imobilized and cure conditions. There is no need whatsover to give the classes with a lotof stability yet another advatage, no freaking need for yet another buff for warriors and guardians, period.
Not every class has an ability to break immobilize specifically. Look at Rangers, for example. We have 0 skills that do that, and 0 traits that can make it happen. The immobilize spam makes us absolutely worthless because we cannot specifically target it to break out of it.
thief is a design flaw from start.
in other mmo stealth has downsides …In other MMO’s permastealth builds exist apparently. Don’t claim ‘other mmo’s’ without investigating them.
In other MMOs, you can permastealth OUTSIDE OF COMBAT. The second you enter it, you can no longer stealth again. This is the core difference.
I dunno, I don’t know why this is that surprising. This is what happens when is game has no subscription and is free to play. The money comes from somewhere, in this case it’s convenience and cosmetics.
The game already had almost the exact same things since launch. You could buy more character slots, more inventory slots, more bank slots. This is exactly the same as all of that. You don’t need these things to play. They add convenience, sure, but it ultimately doesn’t make or break the game for anyone.
If you don’t want to pay a subscription this is what you get.
This right here.
I believe I can fly ~
OH MY GOD! HE FIGURED OUT HOW TO SHOOT PLAYERS FROM CATAPULTS!
New warrior heal skill is for pve. It’s garbage in WVW.
I laughed. You’re never going to see something hit hard or fast enough for it to be of use in PvE (short of a champion risen abomination). It was made for WvW and PvP.
Actually, I think the better solution is that stability should clear and prevent immobilize. Also, stun breakers should be able to break any immobilize/root in the game.
THIS! It seems like common sense that this should be the counter to immobilizes, that they should be declared a type of stun.
No, I like the variety. Stability is already a free pass on many important things, it should have things it can’t answer.
I meant the stun breakers thing. Makes no sense that some moves that are movement type stun breakers like Lightning Reflexes don’t break you out of it.
IMO there’s only one class making this condition meta a meta to begin with, just due to the sheer amount of conditions available to them…necromancers. I can fight any enemy and not really mind conditions, but a necromancer? I see one, I’m dead. Signet of Spite, Staff Marks, Doom, etc. There are too many conditions in too little time, and they can stack Fear with at least two moves. Get multiples of them, and it gets ridiculous. I had a 15 second fear on once, 15 SECONDS!
I’m not saying nerf the necromancer’s conditions completely per say, I’m saying you need to tone down some of their conditions (maybe the time the conditions have that Marks inflict) and the damage they do, at least for WvW. And possibly make it impossible to stack Fear.
If you see one you’re dead… I hope you aren’t speaking from a thiefs perspective here.
Ranger’s perspective.
From what they showed in the livestream the new heal will be pretty bad, 3 seconds is not long at all and in no way will you take enough dmg to heal you full within that time or even get as much hp back as healing surge.
In zergs it might work ok if you get lucky and a whole lot of people hit you(or you go complete suicide and put it on) but in any small scale type of fighting it will be completely useless.
I could see a team of warriors pulling a time-wasting tactic used with it. Run into group → Endure Pain → Defiant Stance. Just 1 warrior bought at least 10 seconds for your server to get there. Multiples? You may have bought them 30 seconds.

Wait, arrow carted at that spot? I know a few locations where you can hit there from. Lord Aragoorn is known for several things on Ebay. One of which is being brilliant on tactics, the other being brilliant laying of siege.
But in terms of Zoom Hacking, which I’m guessing you’re referring to, every server has people who will use it to win, something none of us condone. I’ve seen people doing it while running with every commander we have on the server, as well as seeing it from several people in every server we face. Most people I know report them for zoom hacking (regardless of whether or not they’re our players), as I do. We, like BP, like CD, like every server, cannot control people, and until Anet fixes the kitten problem that causes zoom hacking (they might want to make a default camera max range variable that resets upon entering WvW), it’ll keep happening.

It happens on every path Afya. I’ve had it happen in left, middle, and right paths.
There’s only 1 new weapon I want…claw weapons. Why? Think about it, HAND TO HAND COMBAT. Besides, being able to punch somebody in the face would be awesome.
Fear can be stacked to 10+ seconds while doing 8k+ damage with the possibility of being AoE and oh my god a Thief or Mesmer can handle a terrible perma stealth Thief alert the balance team. Plus the problem isn’t perma stealth its Shadowstep into a Shadow Refuge is impossible to stop and any Thief can do it and every Thief does do it.
Actually, it is possible to stop. If you have any kind of AoE push or pull move (or fear), use it ASAP. It’ll push/pull the thief out of the refuge and instantly take him out of stealth, along with giving him reveal. It’s one of the few counters to stealth I’ve seen. And in that case not only did he waste his refuge, he wasted his Shadowstep, meaning he lost both utilities in a single motion.
Shadowstep has 1200 range, instant cast and breaks stun. Shadow Refuge has 1/4 second cast time and only 4 seconds needed to guarantee an escape. Only 3 pulls have 1200 range and are very unlikely to hit since the Thief most likely wouldn’t be inside you and are single target meaning you have to begin casting in that 1/4 of a second cast time. The only thing even possible to remove the Thief from the refuge would be a Mesmer with a greatsword using Blink and Illusionary Wave and it would still be countered by a Thief dodging.
The thief would have to be on the outskirts of the shadow refuge dodging in, otherwise they’d dodge out of it and lose the stealth.
OMG!!!!! THAT WAS AN EPIC CUTSCENE!!!!!!! Best one yet, kitten I love this update so much, permanent changes to Kessex. ANet, today you have won me over yet again
The only way this cutscene could have been better is if it showed our characters slowly walking away, towards the camera, without looking back at the tower.
With the detonator in their hand as they press the button, blowing up the tower.
I have the answer to your problems people. It’s based on whether or not you yourself are targeted when you’re jumping. For example, if there are 6 people in an AoE, you must be one of those 5 targeted when you jump for it to count. That’s what the problem is for this achievement. And with the large amount of people doing this, it’s at least a 1 in 50 chance of you getting credit.

“You can never have enough pleasure.”
The change to Assassin’s Reward was the biggest nerf…at least for my build. The 0/0/30/20/20 regen build was never passive…it was ALWAYS active, for we had to be to keep Signet of Malice ticking that heal on us. Buff to thieves seeking to play active my kitten , this was a nerf for anybody trying to do a regen/condition build as a thief.
No, it makes LB the power weapon. Short bow has always been a DPS condition weapon.
The new skillis completely useless.
Enemies target the spirit as very firsttarget so it dies right away. Even if not, that 35% trigger rat efor a very low heal is less than not satisfying. This skill needs some rework.
Nature Magic, trait V.
I really like the females; they’re cute, but I just plain do not like the males.
My thoughts exactly.
To be honest, the collections expansion was data mined ages ago and we knew it would be a gemstore item. At the time we were ok with that.
Really? I didn’t know about that so I guess that means I didn’t ok it.
You guys knew it is going to cost $30?
$10. $10 for 1 of them. $30 if you wanted 3, like I did.
I bought 3. 1K of every collectible, meaning I’ll never have to hold any in my actual slots? My money was well spent, and the tears fall from my eyes.
Can you give an option to skip the cutscene when you replay it? I’ve replayed it 4 times for the achievements for the battle and puzzles, and I keep having to watch the cutscenes. It gets boring quick.
Making it stack at all was a mistake. It was annoying enough before they made it stackable.
Agreed. All it takes is running from a bunch of enemies that can do this to you, and for you to be hit by the attack from all of them. This has happened to me while doing world completion in Eternal (I was bored) with my thief. I’ll stealth to drop the immobilize, the second I get out of it there are 2 more stacks right there. This has gotten me killed numerous times. Whoever thought it was a good idea needs to be slapped. Like chaining knockdowns, this is OP, and the change to stacking never needed to be there to begin with, immobilize was fine with how it was originally.
Poor Thief has one counter that no one runs in WvW and is complaining he died for the first time even though you can still escape anything with a Shadowstep into a Shadow Refuge.
Hey, I keep on me 3 condition cleanses. Stealth from Steal, Blinding Powder, and Roll for Initiative. I popped one, came out and got a bunch of stacks of immobilize in under 3 seconds. Immediately popped Roll for initiative, got them again, and threw down Blinding Powder, coming out with it again. I got at least a 12 second immobilize on all of them. I wouldn’t have minded it if it was 3-5 seconds, as that’s enough time for me to get wrecked but still get out alive. But 12+ seconds? That’s OP. And I’m lucky considering if I tried on my Ranger, I’d be dead even faster. This immobilize spam needs to end, or we need to start getting immunity to immobilize in return. There’s nothing fun about this, in WvW, or PvE (where I encountered it on my Ranger in CoF path 2, with those kitten devourers).
I could try that, but it’ll take a few hours in WvW to see if it’s worth the change or not.
It means it scales 35% better with the stat “healing power”…
hint: No thief build uses Healing power (except 30 SA +300 but they dont trait that high into acro so useless)
My regen build does…but that change nerfed it since I have to lose Bountiful Theft (meaning vigor) to get that extra regen back. :/
- Acrobatics XI—Assassin’s Reward: Increased the scaling with healing power by 35%. Moved to the Grandmaster tier.
Welp, my 0/0/30/20/20 build is destroyed by this. Now I either gotta put 30 points in Acrobatics for this by sacrificing 10 points from Trickery and Bountiful Theft, meaning no more Vigor and extra dodging, or I have to leave it as is and no longer get that extra healing from Assassin’s Reward, which really helped me since I was running a regen build. My Regen build is now nerfed in survival, I’m sad…
It should haves stayed at master and they should delete hard to catch altogether.
I would prolly use A reward now if it was master tier
My problem is that I would never need Bountiful Theft normally, but since I’m regen build, Vigorous Recovery cannot be procced by Signet of Malice. Meaning I have 0 vigor without Bountiful Theft. I also lose some condition damage if I take 10 out of Trickery, something I don’t want because it gimps my only source of damage output, my conditions. But if I don’t get Assassin’s Reward, my regen is kitten. And taking 10 out of Shadow Arts is not an option, since it takes out the regen in Stealth and that badly needed toughness. Either way, this change has officially nerfed my build…and pretty much the only true regen build I could do.

I wish people would stop suggesting putting Traps into Wilderness Survival.
Not because it doesn’t make sense, but because the last thing we need is an entire build whose offensive traits directly compete with all of it’s defensive traits. Our absolute best defensive traits are all in Wilderness Survival.
It would literally outright kill the trap build since in order to use traps you would have to sacrifice the little defensive trait options the build currently has in order to make traps usable.
INSTEAD, traps should do better direct damage so that they can be used by power builds as well. It doesn’t help that Skirmishing really has zero useful trait options for power builds, but Marksmanship is overloaded with too many to use at once.
So really, the better question would be: why are ranger traitlines all so bad?
Traits would need to swapped. The defensive stuff would just move and hopefully ANet would do it in a logical manner that would open up more build diversity and not narrow it. It’s not like they’ve move the traits and have 20 in one line and 4 in another.
You have way too much faith in them. What I’ve learned as a Ranger since I first joined in November of last year is that Anet will screw something up, usually without meaning to, and then take 1-2 months to fix it. I’d prefer if they didn’t bother trying to fix the traitlines right now, thank you. I don’t want Rangers completely destroyed.

Here’s the biggest question of all…how much loot did you obtain during those 7 weeks while in WvW, that WEREN’T in the chest? I gained a ton of money through those weeks, a ton of loot, hell, I managed to get a lot of things out of that. I consider that to be my real reward…along with knowing that Ehmry Bay had a full Season of staying in 2nd place in every match.
I came in here expecting another thread suggesting the traits be moved to the other traitline. I was very surprised when I read the post…your idea is perfect. Would love to see those changes.
