PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
I can say this with certainty…YB, you guys are some awesome opponents. Every time you attack it’s so well coordinated that we have a hard time pushing you back.
Anyone have a score update?
Ask and ye shall receive.
I’ve noticed something that seems to have started on the 18th. Guild Wars 2 seems to have its loading slowed down for things. I’m running through an area only to find things that should have already loaded, like trees and the like from far off, not loading until I’m pretty close to them. This happens both in PvE and PvP.
Is anybody else having this problem, or is it just me?
Members of Crystal Desert, For Janthier, and Dragon Brand,
My name is Sir Tryce, as many of you at Crystal Desert know. I’m coming onto this forum and posting for perhaps the last time.
I’ve come to say a formal farewell on behalf of Morphast, myself, and Last Words [LW]. We took a vote yesterday and as of 6 pm server time, decided to move our Guild to Black Gate. We all had various reasons for wanting to move, but please not it wasn’t because of any one person or Guild, or the fact we were being steam rolled in tier 3. I will keep our reasons for moving to myself, but those who actually use the Crystal Desert Team Speak 3 know of our reasons. I don’t want the forum warriors here taking this as an opportunity to mock Last Words or Crystal Desert. All I will say is that it was an emotional meeting and a hard decision to move our Guild. We left behind good friends, and even better comrades in arms.
FJ, DB, You guys were great opponents. FJ, it was fun fighting you guys, you always fought hard, even before your huge merger, and always gave us a tough time. Keep fighting hard, and maybe we’ll see eachother again. DB, same goes for you, keep doing what your doing, you came in swinging, keep doing it.
Crystal Desert, I leave you with these final words,
Never give up, you’ve been up and down, but you’ve never given up, keep fighting the good fight. It was an immense pleasure to work alongside you guys, and even die with you. I will be having Crystal Desert as one of my guesting servers, so I’ll see y’all in PvE. Feel free to message me in game anytime.
Oh, also… #SirTryce2013… Never Forget.
-Sir Tryce/Gismor [LW]
You’re moving to a higher tier’s server? Part of me wants to say you just don’t want to be in a lower tier, and the other part wants me to know exactly WHY that server and won’t bash until it knows why. And trust me, I WILL find out one way or another to feed my curiosity. I’ll be looking for those with the knowledge~
To those of you who have left Crystal Desert just because of the losing, I say the following. Everybody loses every now and then, and eventually you’ll find yourself out of places to run to because EVERYBODY loses at some point or another. And when that time comes, I hope you look at yourselves and realize how foolish you are.
For those who have left because of the arguing and crap on Team and Map chat…everybody does that at some point or another. No matter what server you go to, it will eventually happen again and again. It’s an endless cycle, and you will eventually learn to stop running, face it, and help make the community better so you don’t have to deal with that.
…AoE, OP? I don’t see it. All AoE is ridiculously easy to avoid in WvW and PvP that it isn’t funny. And even if they do hit you, they don’t seem to do a lot of damage at all.
I’ve seen all the initiative gaining traits and abilities. You know, Infiltrator’s Signet, Roll for Initiative, Signet Use, Infusion of Shadow, Patience, Quick Recovery, Quick Pockets, Preparedness (ups initiative you can have by 3), Initial Strike, and Hastened Replenishment.
It’s fairly easy to gain that Initiative back, INCREDIBLY so if you’re playing a thief that has the Dagger as a secondary weapon for both weapon sets, and the right trait setup. Hell a 0/0/10/30/30 with a S/D weapon setup and Hide In Shadows, Roll for Initiative, Shadow Refuge, and Blinding Powder can do this TERRIFYINGLY well, especially so if combined with Infusion of Shadow, Quick Recovery, Quick Pockets, and Hastened Replenishment.

After playing a thief for the first 10 levels, I can say with certainty that the ability to spam weapon skills makes them OP. No other class can spam a single move constantly other than their autoattack. That’s the the only problem I see as of right now.
Way to fix the weapon skills, I’d say a very small recharge time should be added to each one. As in, maybe equal to the amount of initiative they require. Makes it so like other classes, you can’t spam the weapon skills, and it’s insignificant enough to where I don’t think it’d be able to affect how the class does things.
so amazing db server every day

Server’s goal has been reached. Alright CD, time for a huddle to discuss how to deal with our opponents next week.
I still think they just need to increase the size of the tiers. Such as to 6 servers, just so the matchup is completely random every week, with the tier list changing every month.
I am from CD and I am seeing this mass exodus personally. Its WvW some times we win sometimes we lose that’s life. This particular week we aren’t doing to great big deal. So we are losing this week and free server transfers are available word goes out lets change servers so we can be instant winners, problem solved, right. The same things your running away from here you will find where your going.
We got a commander runs around nude yelling balls deep every min, real inspirational (albeit funny), wondered why were losing and left with his guild. Then another great commander left that will be sorely missed, he was known for dropping 20 golems a lot and overkill siege works.
Its not to late to come back.
At this point, it is for the free transfers. It takes a week before you can transfer again, so if somebody transferred on the 21st, they can’t come back without paying for it.
I think that says more that you’re not seen as being anything other than a normal server. Meaning you guys are making waves, just not in a way that makes anybody want to join or leave. That’s an achievement in my book.
I use 10/30/30/0/0 for my build. Gives me full control over the traps, doubles their duration, boosts their power to the max, and gives my normal attacks a decent boost. It has caused me no problems usually in WvW or PvP.
Run 20/30/20, piercing arrows helps alot
I had actually been thinking about using that for WvW, but I’ve been doing dungeons with the guild as of late so I’ve been pushing that back. Bark Skin can really help survival in those dungeons.
To be honest, I’m not sure on the gameplan, but it seems like my server is TRYING to get taken down to T4 so DB will stay in T3, and so you guys at FA are more likely to jump to T2 within the next 2 weeks so we can fight people who aren’t on all the time. Because to be honest, not only is it disheartening to fight a server that NEVER has a downtime compared to ours, it’s also not fun, since we can’t surprise you, we can’t catch you off guard, we can’t even sneeze without a large group of your guys appearing. You’re everywhere at this point, and I think our server would rather go down a tier or get you up a tier just so we can go back to having fun matches.
Because before you suddenly got all those massive guilds Sunday, the score in the beginning was so close and the fights were so fun that EVERYBODY wanted to be there, EVERYBODY wanted to fight, EVERYBODY wanted to experience that close rush. But then you got more guilds and gained that huge lead, and it suddenly became unfun because no matter what we did, we couldn’t make the match close again anymore.

Don’t fool yourself Aeneasx, it’s not the worst decision you’ve seen a developer make. Blizzard took that award already.

“The sky falls and the ground shakes in the lands of the north. Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south. The call goes out for volunteers to assist the victims in this time of need, when earth and sky seem to have become the enemy…”
I see more of the introduction of 2 new dragons… Earth and Air.
As for Norn (racists post didn’t capitalize) and Charr, maybe they’re running for ELONA!!! (The great oracle sees and expansion in our future
)
6 months out for an expansion isn’t unheard of. They released Factions and Nightfall within about that time. ;-)
We already have an earth dragon…it’s name? Kralkatorrik…or Primordius, considering he lives underground.
Once paid transfers start, we should know within a few weeks where servers “belong”.
My guess is that within two months we’ll be so tired of fighting the same opponents for the 4th consecutive week that the boards will be alive with (probably the same people) begging for free server transfers to make it interesting again.
Nahh, they’ll be alive with people asking for the tiers to be bigger so the opponents we face is more random.
And PvE dungeons. Don’t forget they bring virtually nothing to PvE dungeons
Traps, condition damage, Healing Spring, DPS. That’s all I’ve ever needed to get into a dungeon run.
LOL seriously ? nothing of this is useful by ranger… it’s garbage, and DPS is not even close balanced to war.
I was playing WvW and PvP when guardian shoot me on roof with staff for more dmg than i done it with my bow or short bow… aren’t rangers masters of range??? wtf… and let me mention that guard didnt use any reflect dmg…
You don’t know how to play ranger. It’s likely not the class for you, sorry.
I was thinking that he has no idea what he’s talking about. He can diss the LB, the pet, and the spirits, but when he disses the traps, which are some of our most powerful and useful slot skills, the man OBVIOUSLY doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
You don’t need points in BM. You can do just fine without them there. Though as a question, how well does your build do. I’d personally take the 10 points from Nature Magic and put them in Wilderness Survival for Bark Skin, but that’s me.
Personally I feel they should make the classes that can stealth the priorities for loading enemies. For example, make thieves the first thing the game loads, that way when they come out of stealth, the culling doesn’t give them an advantage.
Actually, stealth IS kind of a problem only due to culling. Hopefully those ‘fixes’ they’re adding this month will help stop the culling enough to make it so people don’t complain about stealth.
I wasn’t on the forums for that ‘push you out of the tier’ thing. Though from the way it looks, you’re pushing yourselves out of the tier, sort to speak. XD
Having made a thief character and having played for the first 10 levels, the only thing that I consider that makes them OP is the fact that they can spam moves since the only ‘cooldown’ (if you can call it that) thieves have is initiative, which is easily refilled. They have no real cooldown timer, so they can spam moves quite easily. Only fix I see to that is to add a very short cooldown along with the initiative cooldown, probably linked to how much initiative the skill requires (such as 6 second cooldown for Cloak and Dagger, 3 second cooldown for Infiltrator’s Strike, etc). Only way I could picture giving the class a reasonable ‘nerf’ while keeping their core setup intact.
equips flame shield
Ahh, thanks for the clarification. But as of right now, considering how badly you’re beating us and DB, I think you’re fine on people. But getting more for T2, that I have no problems with, as we all know you’re going up there probably.
FA, I don’t think you need anymore people. From what I’ve heard you’ve had a 24/7 queue on all BL and EB.
You so mean Oro. T_T
6/10, because of the pun. CHARR NEED NO PUNS.
To be perfectly honest, I’m actually far too lazy to change up my skills from Healing Spring to Troll Ungent. I tend to forget I changed them, and end up surprised when I remember I changed them in the heat of battle. I’ve gotten killed quite a few times due to that.
People usually die with Troll Ungent because they use it when they need to actually heal, you should use it before you have to actually heal. If im goin against a high dps foe i throw up troll after a couple hits.
I usually die during that switch because I’m either fighting a warrior, or I’m fighting in a zerg and just had multiple stacks of debuffs thrown on me. I immediately using the button to attempt to set down a Healing Spring to take off the debuffs, only to realize when I don’t see the field that I changed out the healing skill. I’ve actually had debuffs outdamage what Troll Ungent can heal…
Dont expect heals to heal ridiculous amounts without healing power.
Im sure you either had 25 bleed on you or kept attacking while confused to oblivion.
25 bleed, immobilized, crippled, no signet of renewal, pet dead, and flames. Also, I really have no points in Nature Magic because as a whole, if Healing Spring isn’t doing its job of getting rid of debuffs, I’m dead anyway in WvW. I may be a trap build, but I also use myself, my Healing Spring, and my traps as support for the party. And I never really run with 3 traps most of the time (unless you consider Entangle a trap) since I never know when I’ll need that Signet of the Hunt in use to make an escape. Also, not everybody can say they have a legendary to use to that effect, Casey.

Ykyk…that small tactics fight to assist in the overall goal while avoiding the main zerg is what we love doing. The problem is that here lately on Dragonbrand, there is NOWHERE that is safe from at least a 15-20 man zerg. They’re everywhere. Even supply camps are being hit by 20+ people.
I understand why you’re seeing the zerg everywhere. FA has mass amounts of people on all the time, and CD is stuck in defense mode just to avoid losing so horribly that we leave people at the supply camps in an attempt to safeguard them. And because FA has so many people on, the odds of you seeing some at a supply camp are through the roof. Basically, it’s going to be stuck this way for the week, and if you’re thrown down a tier, you won’t have to worry about it for a week. But sadly, those of us at CD will be stuck with it…until FA hits T2 or we’re thrown down to T4 in your place.
0/10 You weren’t trying.
My Charr thief is named Zar Poisonclaw.

Guess CD decided to get in the way tonight with attacking at jumping puzzles. Since NAGA decided to be jerks i’l be killing any CD I find in a JP for the rest of the night.
If you’re FA, I have to say…you were doing that earlier. If you’re DB, well…you guys started doing that a little after you wiped out FA.
I love chatting with people from other servers like that in the JP. One week the party had me, and a single person from both servers in it. We ran the entire JP as a team, and I absolutely loved it. Especially the chats we had while doing it.

If it’s a thief, you’re not going to escape them, you can only outlast them or make them run. And depending the build, it’s very possible to make the thief run, as I’ve done it myself (but glass cannons I still have a hard time with due to that backstab damage). Warriors…well, when was the last time you have seen a warrior solo in WvW?
DB, I’d like to thank you for taking control of the JP and then waiting until AFTER I had grabbed the chest and done the /cheer to kill me. I’m glad you let me finish it before killing me.
While I wasn’t a part of it, what can I say? We know you just want badges. Problem for your repair bill is that so do we.
I was doing it on my level 6 thief (yes, you read correctly, level 6), just because I could really. Plus I wanted to see what kind of loot a level 6 could get out of that chest. As it turns out, not much. XD

I only encounter this problem from FA. Never from DB. I could say it’s telling of how the server actually is, especially since I’m seeing over 30 FA in the JP camping it, and maybe 15 DB. And when all 15 DB let me pass, but all 30 FA try to kill me, yeah…
Hey FA, you guys need to talk to Obey, FDIC, and Pro about killing people just doing the JP. I get past the dark room and the arena thanks to DB being kind enough to leave me alone (love you DB) so I can get through, only to get killed by those guilds even after doing the standard /bow command (Note to those guilds, this means the player isn’t going to attack).

What’s your build? Mine’s a 10/30/30/0/0 build with emphasis on traps, and I use LB and SB exclusively in WvW.
And PvE dungeons. Don’t forget they bring virtually nothing to PvE dungeons
Traps, condition damage, Healing Spring, DPS. That’s all I’ve ever needed to get into a dungeon run.
Time to take this apart.
traps – so im supposed to be the narrow corridor specialist? traps are next to useless in the open world. trap rangers are squishy, and i kill them all the time. the range on trap throw is much too small. necros, eles and engies do a much better job in this situation anyway.
That’s why I said Skirmishing up to 30. Trait 8 gives your traps a larger range when they activate, and Trait 11 doubles the time they last while lowering the cooldown time. Also, with Trait 8, you can also throw a trap somewhere and not set it down at you. Meaning it’s perfectly possible to throw a trap where the enemy is going and for them to hit it. Also, trap rangers squishy? To make the most out of the traps, you need a full 30 points into Wilderness Survival, which BOOSTS TOUGHNESS AND CONDITION DAMAGE. They’re going to take the hits, and it’s going to take multiple glass cannon hits or burst damage to throw them down. Also, nobody denies that necros can do it better. Eles though…I can take them out solo, and that’s while fighting somebody who knows how to fight as an Ele.
longbow – youre right, you dont need to talk about it. it’s a terrible weapon. unless youre inside the keep, any build relating to the LB will get you killed. Rapid Fire burst is negated by a single dodge roll, or even strafing at 600-900 distance. past 900, the LB hardly lands any arrows unless the target is stationary or perfectly in line with the projectile path.
Rapid Fire cancels its firing if YOU roll while you’re doing it, just like how every attack cancels if you dodge while you in the animation. The problem with the distance is to be expected, as it’s easier to dodge things from far off. However, if you combine Rapid Fire with Zephyr, it’ll come too fast for them to dodge. Also, the LB is useful if combined well with traps and the right circumstances. LB#4 plus a spike trap in front of you can immobilize an enemy quick enough to throw another trap on them or to switch to a Shortbow for faster hits.
pet – i actually played a pet-centric build with the LB, and ive successfully unloaded 25k bursts on people. but it’s gimmicky, unreliable and done better by a warrior or thief.
That one I’m not going to deny, is way too reliant on severe micro managing and the AI doing its job…which most of the time it doesn’t do.
If losing was all it took to make them quit, I think our server would have hit rock bottom during the weeks we fought TC.
I play WvW and just wvw i was told by a dev that i need never leave wvw for gear progression, yet i now have to do dailies and monthlies for laurels. I dont think i have ever completed a daily in my whole time of playing GW2. I dont even know what they are.
-1 Thumbs down for me.
Press H, go to Achievements. Click on Daily. That’s a daily.
healing spring is worthless lol and the it says we are suppose to get 2k+ heal from the regen we really are only getting 1.9k unless you put all into healing power then maybe its an ok skill but i laugh when I run into a ranger using healing spring and im using troll because i know im goin to out heal him any day
Yes, but are you going to keep your debuffs on him? Healing spring CONSTANTLY takes out a debuff every tick. You may be able to out heal him, but can you survive constant debuffs on you like he can? I think not.
I kinda gotta ask, did something happen to CD? I know us in Fort Aspenwood got a bunch of transfers from IoJ, but I doubt it would make it this unbalanced between the servers.
You actually got a ton of people on during our server downtime when most of our population isn’t on…I think that’s what happened. You’re winning because you people on all the time, and we well…don’t. That’s it in a nutshell I think. I’d love to have some clarification from somebody on during that time.
It appears you haven’t touched the one thing that really helps in WvW…traps. While it seems like they’re only situational, you can use and abuse them often if you have Skirmishing to 30 and have Traits 8 and 11 on. Your traps can do some serious damage to enemies and you can throw them at the enemy. In a small group or even a zerg, throwing a trap at an enemy allows numerous combos to be set up, and can also screw the enemy up enough to get them kill.
Frost Trap can slow them down and their skill recharge, giving your guys the slight edge to win (plus being able to use your arrows to keep chill going on them keeps the effect going). Flame Trap does high damage fast, and as you know, damage from flames can be quite deadly. And if you’re using Healing Spring, dash in near the melee fighters and throw one down so they can keep their health up and spread the healing out if they have a Blast Finisher.
I’ve never gotten rejected from a party for being a ranger before. I’ve never even seen a necro rejected from a dungeon party. What server are you on?
People, people. Enough of your petty forum squabbles. We all need to focus on what’s more important…how to take on Maguuma next week. Have they really gotten stronger, or are they only getting ahead because Yak and IoJ have fallen from grace?
Better question, how long until they’re shot back down to T3 because T2 beats them down too much?
