well that’s up to ANet to find the balance between casuals and elite. But if you choose to balance around pros instead of casuals the game will die very fast. No casuals = no viewers = no e-sport.

It sounds awful honestly. Regardless of the map just being a rehash of the current maps with some pretty new graphics, it is going to be a total mess with class mobility imbalances. Right now, only a few classes have skills that can let them change elevation. Of those, only the thief has one that is spammable with no cooldown. And then of course there’s mesmer portal. Somehow Anet thought it would be a good idea to make their new spvp map one that is custom tailored to the abilities of two of the most problematic classes in the game.

Blah blah blah, I hate everything new thrown into the game and I’ll QQ no matter what changes or doesn’t change.

Don’t forget there are 5 pages of class changes coming in this patch as well.

This is actually my #1 objection. I don’t want just any character, I want MY character with MY gear and MY spec. Even LOL gets it, no idea why Anet misses such fundamental MMO concept.

Yes, even playing field is nice, but not to the point that in breaks immersion/continuity to such great degree.

I am long-time PvPer. My resume includes multiple 2K+ WoW Arena teams, SB, DF and dueling record in UO. I almost exclusively WvW in GW2.

I do not participate in tPvP and do not plan to. I am not alone, in my medium-sized ultra-competitive WvW guild there are no organized tPvP teams and no interest to start one.

Here are my reasons:

1. I can’t take my character into tPvP
2. There are no tPvP rewards that would help me advance my character (that I know of)
3. Whole zerg control points tPvP does not appeal to me.

If Anet were to implement 5v5 elimination-style ranked tPvP that awarded PvP tokens I would likely participate.

From where I stand tPvP problem is question of appeal. If you can’t sell your tPvP to PvPers then you ether selling wrong thing or not delivering message in a way it can be understood.

Just my 2c.

if you think you need gear to boost you just in tPvP then gw2 tPvP is not for you and you dont like zergs, but you play WvWvW… WAT?

and you dont get stomped in lol? when i played it ppl would que with 1 lvl 1 and rest were lvl 30 and i would get guys with 400-1000 wins when i had only 20 and i was low lvl

I’ve played with my friends just for fun as 2 support staff eles + 2 bunker guardians + backtab glass-cannon thief.
Scores?
Forest – 500:25

Khylo – 500:0.
No one could die here, and if there was a bunker v two from the opposing team, our thief simply went to help and one-shotted one of the enemies. Simple.
This is not any kind of flaming or smth, just saying that bunkers must be nerfed and the glass cannon builds can’t be left as they are.

really?? 60 minutes and where did you get this 75%?… i would say 65% of players that do 86% of their time tournaments say “38% players are playing solo and ppl are not leaving”

why? you mean portals? if its that portals already overpovered, especially for kyhlo, they should make it elite skill and destructible imo

It’s programmatically possible to make it so that observers see solid colors for both teams, while the players themselves have a toggle to either see solid colors or custom dyes.
Everybody wins.
Just quoting this again because there is no reason this should not be a feature in this game. If the devs really listen to the players, let them see this 100 times a day.

“let them see this 100 times a day” will not help you at all… they have probably alredy read this and if you keep spamming it they will just lock it

they dont suck, but they are pretty boring and way too easy to counter and the thing in renewed focus is that you lose 2 ticks from that node if you are playing bunker in pvp

tbh i don’t even see that many guardians going with maces…

We know this bug exists. The problem is our most recent change should have fixed it. We will work hard to make sure this bug is gone by the next patch. Sorry it hasn’t been easier to get rid of.

I have been sPVP’ing non stop since last patch. With the nerfs in that patch and now the new nerfs, what is the point of even playing this class anymore? I am dying 3x faster than any other class in sPVP right now, and I am not really bringing anything to the table any longer. I am getting passed over for tourneys, where before I was picked almost instantly. Is it time to re-roll and learn something else?

I am honestly about to drop this game completely and walk away. The lack of communication and direction from the developers is worse than WoW’s.

Anyone else rerolling? What class are you switching too?

i’m still doing tournaments like before this patch… if you are getting passed… it might be just you not the class

i guess ppl dont realise what buff, nerf and FIX means…

we have players getting dc’s in tournaments andcan’t log back in and can’t use skills

PVP game? so what we have:

Negatives:

- 4 maps with one conquest mode and one map which is terrible and almost everyone leaves it when it comes (yes its raid on capricorn)

- super uber slow rank leveling when you hit rank 20 or 30 (the longer it takes to get next level the more boring it is maybe you should have done 150 pvp ranks but people level them faster than now = more rewarding actually).

- No guild vs guild pvp content at all (I wonder why its called guild wars then

- No rewarding for team play (when you have to stay on point to defend it you wont get anything, and when you are under attack and you are defeding the point as long as possible you wont get anything again!)

- Downed states. Oh my god I dont know who created it but keep this out of pvp please. Well downed states are not really balanced at all (thief vs elementalist, warrior vs necro etc). Oh and if you are good enough to take down 2 players alone they will kill you anyway thanks to this downed mode. Delete it from pvp (if you want skill based pvp).

Positives:

- Good combat system, really fast and good dodge system I really like it.

- Diversity in builds (well not for all classes at the moment but still more than 1 or 2 builds are quite viable, but this still need tweaking)

- No gear gap (Again good choice pvp should depend only on skill of the players not on their gear stats)

- PVP crafting (again nice move not so amazing but still very good)

Maybe I forgot something but simply you have long way to go to say this is pvp game and nowadays I dont know if this game ever will be esport if you wont delete downed states from pvp…

- capricorn is not in Tpvp
- ranks mean nothing
- i bet they will make gvg
- reward for team play = get in to next round
- downed state will get balanced eventually

i don’t miss hutball a bit…. you had less sorcs you lost…

afaik all the professions have this bug and it’s always those traits you have in pve and it happens when you go from pve to mist

Curious, why do you say that? Simply because you like conquest or you think having other modes would be a bad idea for some reason?

i don’t really care what modes we have, but if we only use 1 mode in tournaments and balance professions around that mode the game would be better and more balanced

Yes please nerf these guard bunker builds. it is stupid. the amount of blocks, heals , etc is … just too much. you should be able to 1v1 these guys, it should just take a long time, and some luck. And 2v1 should definitely beat them – and without taking 30 secs. All I see in tPvP now is 2 guard builds over an over. hohum.

you don’t have to kill guardian to capture the point he was guarding and if you nerf all the bunker’s to lose easily in 1v1 why would you play bunker anymore? and the mode in gw2 is conquest if all the bunkers would be bad everyone would be running zerg dps

if you don’t any classes who can bunker the new meta would be ppl just focusing on sick burst and running 4 dps + support

Yes tPVP seems dead, it wasn’t ~3 weeks ago. Same as sPVP, I can only see 11-12 full 16/16 slot servers and only 30 with 2 or more players in them.

just went to pvp browser 43 servers that had +10 players… and a lot of ppl have a team already and no it’s not dead
