Mind you, does steal life on crit work with 30k hits against lvl 0 mobs?
I was playing against a thief in wvw, and he kept on stealthing and killing level 0 mobs. I wondered why. I realized that this trait, which gives swiftness on kill, works on lvl 0 mobs like rabbits. This is ridiculous, combined with the culling issue, the thief just wouldn’t die. We were fighting him 5 on 1 and we couldn’t kill him. He’d repeatedly stealth, only coming out of stealth for 2 seconds, often behind buildings at the other side of the place. He’d abuse the fact that this trait would work on bunnies and kept killing them. As a mesmer, I have no way of countering this since he runs out of my phantasm’s agro range, and half the time I can’t use my skills since most of them requikittenget and he’s 90% of the time invis. He kept this up for 5 minutes. During which time he’d revive his 5 dead teammates a little at a time.
TLDR: Thief is bullkitten. Make Assassin’s Retreat not work on lvl 0 mobs.
Just to add to this, not many people know but you can counter counter siege. The only effective siege to counter turtling is catapults; arrow carts do too little damage, and ballistas will probably get killed pretty fast, as it needs line of sight. However, elementalist focus skill “swirling winds” can destroy catapult shots. Lol, can’t wait till you guys start using that.
What about the worlds without those massive guilds? Are you saying low pop servers aren’t allowed to have commanders? No, just make it cost badges.
I believe there should be a “resurrected penalty.” If you’ve just been rezzed, either from downed or defeated, you will instantly be defeated the next time your hp reaches 0, skipping down state. This would last for 3 minutes after being rezzed. This gives people only 1 chance, after that your dead. I also agree with the force respawn after 3 minutes of defeated thing, spies are very annoying.
Even though siege is soulbound, you can still give it to other players. Double click the siege blueprint to equip it, and press the drop bundle key (~). Now another player can pick it up! Of course you can’t do this with your own alts because it disappears if the player that drops it goes too far away or logs out, but you can get a friend to be a transfer buffer for you.
I’d like to congratulate the player of HoD for finally capturing a keep today! Although we kept it for about 6 hours, it was a good run.
They should go back to 3 day matches until they remove free server transfers.
Fine, but, as previously stated in many threads, outmanned buff needs a rework.
You must be from HoD. If not, you don’t know the meaning of outnumbered.
Basically, outnumbered buff means that if your team is outnumbered (about 4:1 i think) by the other teams, your team gets extra magic find. LOL. Useless.
So, basically, I’m from HoD, and it’s just stupid. Just some background info.
What I want is there to be a slight advantage for teams that are losing very badly, as in not even owning a keep. They should make it so that people cannot upgrade the garrison of a different server. This gives a chance for the losing server to at least capture one keep. Last week against Blackgate, we couldn’t even capture our own garrison, even with equal numbers of players, partly because the garrison had fully upgraded NPCs that did a significant amount of damage, tanked, and respawned incredibly fast.
Well, BG’s movin up to T1, so we (T2) don’t have to deal with them anymore…
Did I leave out the “back” part? Whoops. Anyways, I’m personally opposed to going to Devona’s Rest. I simply made this thread to see what response it would get, which would help me decide whether or not I would stay. As you can see, I made my decision.

Often times, spamming tab doesn’t work. When the thief actually pops up, he usually has no nametag, and pressing tab doesn’t select him. The only way to select him is to actually move your mouse and click on him. Lasts for a few seconds but is really annoying.
If you carefully read my post, I said I transferred BACK to HoD. It was the server that I chose on the first day of early access, and I decided to go back on. Only reason I took a tour of other servers was because WvW was getting stupid with the scores of +695 +0 +0. We were one of the +0 btw. Most of my guild never left HoD, but those that went to Kaineng moved on to other servers. I know several moved to Devona’s Rest because they were fed up with Kaineng.

claiming just puts your emblem on the flag. any guild can upgrade if they really wanted to support their server.
I would really LOVE for Blackgate to go to T1. I used to be on HoD, but I temporarily moved to Kaineng cause it was stupid seeing siege right outside our citadel gates. However, as it stands, it seems Blackgate is going to be #4, and HoD’s only going to drop to #6, so it’ll probably be another roflstomp rematch.
I sort of want HoD to lose (3rd place) this week, so they’ll drop to T3. At this rate, we’re going to have a rematch with BG next round…
The problem I see with stealth is that it seems the character is completely removed from memory and must be reloaded again after coming out of stealth. In most other games that implement stealth in some way, the stealthed character is not removed from memory, but instead is simply not drawn. That way, the game client knows exactly where the stealthed character is and can easily draw them again after they come out of stealth. The problem here is it would be possible to create a hack to see stealthed enemies, but that can be fixed in other ways.

The +0 is just due to lag. Notice how his server has +10% bonuses for everything, and that blue tower has friendly npcs. Hence, he’s blue – Blackgate.

To Kaineng Players,
I’m just a player that recently transferred over to your server (probably temporarily), and I would like to outline your weaknesses in WvW in the list below (not in any particular order). Also note that these problems are not just specific to your server, and many others have them as well.
- Lack of presence in DR and FC borderlands
- Lack of defensive siege (I rarely see any defensive siege, even in keep lords rooms)
- Just a tip, a gate will go down faster if you run to a nearby camp for supply and build a ram than if you just sit there auto-attacking it.
- Lack of upgrades (Outside of my own guildmates, I almost never see anybody upgrade keeps, towers, or camps)
- Incompetent commander (Most are pretty good, but there’s always one or two that have no idea what they’re doing. This is normal, just make sure you don’t follow them around.)
- Lack of tactics (You guys only zerg)
- People rarely defend (You traded a fully upgraded tower for a tower in your enemy’s territory – bad deal)
Now I’m going to ask you: do you want to win or do you want to farm?
The main reason you guys follow commanders like lemmings or attack towers on the opposite side of the map instead of defending towers you already own is because attacking generally gives more personal rewards than defending. If you want your server to win, you need to fix this attitude.
Get real dude. You think corporate and politicial players who are conferred with leadership title such as CEOs and Ministers earned their title entirely through merit? The game is mirroring what the real world is. Money talks louder.

If anything we need to be given the option to hide certain commanders we don’t care to see personally (and have guild settings for this as well.).
I think if you right click the commander’s portrait and click “join squad”, you only see his icon and none of the others.
Don’t blame the server. It’s not like we can stop him.
I’m from HoD, and I was there the entire time. I, however, only saw (by looking at the map) one orb get hacked. The people on my server said it was some guy named “Optimushaxx”. So yeah, we don’t support him. We also saw him teleport some siege golems around.
In other news, us on HoD are trying very hard using various tactics to take back our own garrison. What happens when we try? We get zerged down. Plain and simple. The fact that the garrison is fortified like kitten and the max upgraded NPCs spawn every 10 seconds, we can’t get a foothold in there. Please cool it with the NPC respawn time.
Why hasn’t the issue of being able to portal entire zergs into the boss rooms of keeps been dealt with?
Legitimate players have to attack two gates to fight for the keep itself, and 3mins later they lose the keep because a mesmer is able to portal 40+ people directly into the boss room and kill the boss under your nose with 0 warning.
I can understand that a mesmer’s portal ability is part of its uniqueness, but why not limit it to party only?
If a mesmer portalled a zerg into your boss room, there’s 2 possibilities:
1. He hacked to get in there, in which case it’s not the class, it’s the hacks.
2. He stayed in there since the last time you guys captured it, in which case you’re stupid for not checking for mesmers.
I don’t know of any way of skipping the inner gate, but if there were, then you don’t need a mesmer to portal them in, the whole zerg could just walk in.
You can’t capture or hold a point while in stealth…
See, thats the problem. People are complaining about Thieves without having any idea how the skills work.

Actually, this tactic wouldn’t work if rendering worked the way it was intended to. If rendering did work as planned, we would be able to see the thief for a fraction of a second between stealths, as attacking a player instantly breaks a thief out of stealth (or is supposed to). However, because of Anet’s “culling”, we are unable to see this “unstealthed” thief and kill him. Even being able to see him for a fraction of a second would be enough to promptly figure out where to put your aoes.
If there’s a queue on your server, you probably deserve it. Most servers with queues right now are the winning servers, since everyone transferred over to them. If all 3 servers in a matchup has queues, then it’s time to raise the player cap, BUT ONLY FOR THAT ONE MATCHUP.

If pressing F makes you activated the wrong object, you can simple double click the object to use it. That way, you select the right object.

The AoE only hits 5 people thing is stupid. Seriously? There’s no reason at all for that to be in the game. As such, your only counter would be mesmer feedback, then mesmer mass invis so a slightly smaller zerg could kill their zerg.
Only give a reward for defending dolyaks if you kill something along the way. That way, yaks that need defending will be defended and botters can’t bot.
HoD here. There is only one commander left. So yeah, he’s the best (and worst). Don’t remember his name tho.
A friend of mine and myself have read nearly every wvw forum post and compiled a list of top requested changes for WvW.
1) STOP free server transfers
2) Numbers Balancing
3) Class Balancing i.e nerf mes portals and thieves invis <main two requested
4) Swap orb and out manned buffs or adjust them
5) Make defending keeps and towers more worth doing with rewards or something.
5* give the person that made any upgrade to the hold some credit any time it is successfully guarded and extra if they helped defend it. Give loot to those who placed siege when their siege weapon has killed a player. < two good ideas.
6) Implement Team Voice chat in game.
7) Make Defenses cheaper or offensive siege more expensive.
8)Change the Report Player ui to allow report hack, exploiting, cheat, leaching (standing in spawn 2-4hrs not leaving just taking up a spot in queue).
9) Fix vanishing siege equipment.
10) Implement Friend Foe feature so you can ally with other servers.
11) wvw karma armor stats, Give us more choices on what stats we want not just toughness vit.
12) walls and doors can only be taken out by siege equipment
13) Raid Set up and window. Allow us to form 20 man raids and set it as 4 five man parties.
14) Add supply depot in spawn points.
15) Workers Repair Walls.Ok after going as far back as my friend and I could reading forums these were the top 15 request. yes there were many many more but these i would think with everyone requesting they should fix first.
#3: Mesmer portals are fine, if your team is stupid enough to let a mesmer drop a portal, you deserve it. Thief invis is only a problem because of the rendering issue.
#6: Voice chat takes a lot of server bandwidth, just download vent or ts3.
#7: Prices are fine the way I see them.
#9: I haven’t noticed any siege vanishing. Siege can sometimes be ninja’d by enemies, lighting can destroy them, or they might decay from not being used for 30 minutes.
#10: NO. Why would you do that? It’s each player’s choice on who they want to attack.
#11: They want you to buy transmutation stones.
#12: Walls can already only be taken out by siege. Doors should stay the way they are right now. Making it only siege destroyable would make the game very slow, people would just turtle.
#15: Sometimes, you do not want to repair a wall if it’s being constantly trebbed, since it uses up supply and it’s going to go down anyway.

We got our whole borderlands into a group yesterday (4 people) and took one camp. then 50 ppl showed up from JQ so i went back to farming in Orr and then logged out.
I can’t wait to get in and do some more!

Anyways, HoD here. I’ve actually been having more fun now that we’re fighting an uphill battle. The trick to not being demoralized is to make an alt, preferably a thief or mesmer (facerolling classes). If you die, LOL WHO CARES, REPAIR IS 44c.
It’s actually quite fun having to resort to the most obscure tactics available in the game. The remaining players on WvW are the most dedicated ones, not the farmers or karmawagoners, so it’s easy to get a cooperative 5 man group. (btw, max # of players at peak times for us on a map is like 20) With this 5 man group, we managed to cap a couple towers. But even with all of us on superior siege, we still can’t defend against the kitten 50 man JQ zerg auto attacking the gate.
In other news, I saw how SBI took over half the map yesterday, then JQ came on a couple hours later and zerged it all back.
So I figured out that daggers are reflected, but daggerstorm’s reflect just reflects them back, and the thief just juggles the daggers. This is stupid. You shouldn’t be able to reflect an attack twice.
The devs decided that stealth was too OP against npcs. It’s already broken against players.
Title says it all. Daggerstorm throws daggers, so why can’t these daggers be reflected? I believe this is a bug and should be fixed.
I’ve once had an issue when I went to the mists, when I looked at the map, it was a map of Tyria with icons from the mists on top. This was just a one time bug to me, wasn’t that important.
In this game, CC is very specific. It’s things like knock down, knock back, sink, float. CC does not show up as a little icon like a condition. Cripple is a condition, not CC.

Then you’re playing WvW wrong. There is nothing productive you can do by yourself, except for killing dolyaks and praying the other team doesn’t catch on. You are rewarded based on your contribution. You’re contributing nothing, therefore you won’t earn enough to cover your armor repairs.
Killing dolyaks actually contributes to your team. 1, it keeps enemy towers and keeps from being upgraded. 2, if a yak is near is destination, killing it will give your team about 5 points, same as a camp for a tick.
so when did lower level gear cost more than exotics to repair?i never remember spending 13s to repair gear at low levels
He worded the sentence wrong. He means that the money you receive from selling lower level gear is less than the cost of repairing higher level gear.
HoD player here, been here since day 1 of early access.
So I went on earlier today, saw our homelands was completely green, with a hint of red. (JQ=green, SBI=red, HoD=blue).
So I met a random guy, and together we built a bunch of catapults and destroyed the door and wall of the west tower. We rallied the (tiny) militia and took it back. Next we took the east tower. Some time in the middle, someone placed an A golem and we used that to take back garrison.
I actually like playing on the losing side, it gives you a fun challenge (although empties your pockets).
Bah, one of my guild members got onto another server’s Teamspeak server… that was funny.
Yep, if Anet stopped server transfers before TA broken up, this wouldn’t be happening. But, I’m actually happy all the bandwagonners left. Only honorable players are left.
Skills that have longer than advertised range and can attack through walls.

I’ve found that a couple skills are broken:
Elementalist>underwater>trident>air>#2 has infinite range and cannot be obstructed
Mesmer>underwater>trident>#2 has a lot longer than advertised range
Necromancer>Life Transfer can attack through walls (or so it seems)
Just to be on the safe side, I recommend checking all Trident #2 skills (I see a trend).
This bug still occurs, even though the latest patch says they fixed the problem. It’s not as bad now, whole armies don’t show up beside you, but it still happens. There are 2 ways this happens:
1. When there are many players near you, players that are relatively far away (within your view range but outside your attack range) still may not show up. I know they’re there because of the projectiles originating thin air.
2. When coming out of stealth, player models do not instantly load. This used to be as bad as a 5 second different between unstealthing and loading, but I think it’s about 3 seconds now. How do I know they’ve unstealthed even though I can’t see them? The little black unstealthing swirl animation still appears, but there’s no character to go along with it. This 3 seconds is long enough for a thief (broken IMO) to burst you down from 11k health to 0.
