I feel there are far too many toxic players, this is a PVP community we are talking about after all. Game queues would come to a slow creep for all players. I think you would be surprised just how many pvp’ers fall into this category you want to create

I am of the opinion that the game should cull out players that consistently act crude. They keep quite of a number of players that might otherwise play pvp away, thus harm the health of the format.

If you consistently show you don’t know how to act around people you should lose your rights to play.

Right click and block. Problem solved. People also need to be less sensitive, if you are offended just block and report the person. I don’t think people that want to play pvp are kept from playing it because others may be offensive to them when they can so easily block communications.

The reasons you get angry is not because Anet. I am going to go ahead and just say that the ragers in GW2 are the same people who rage in LoL or CoD or whatever game they play.

Being disgruntled and salty is OK. Calling people bads in chat when you’re most likely the baddie on the team is not OK.

This may apply to some, but in a game where you cannot carry the game by yourself i think it goes a bit deeper then “being a baddie”. And by saying “calling people bads but your most likely the baddie” just discredits your opinion, that immature mentality will get you nowhere. The problem lies in the match making and the removal of solo queue.

This game not Dota2 or other MOBA, we can’t farm 40 min and then win game solo, just because you carry. In GW2 sPvP premade have HUGE advantage, even 2-3 dudes in a party can roflstomp soloers from other team. Even if other team also have this 2-3 man party. And other party is just random people from HotM, who make premade just because “oh, we are dragons, we cool”. No voice, no communication. And vs this friends in TS.
Practice, Ranked and Unranked soloQ, Ranked and Unranked teamQ – it’s not so hard, but we want it. We need it.

Might have been better if it was like this initially, without soloq. Would have made the game healthier team-wise. Now we’re spoiled because of soloq and there is no turning back.

(Before you rip my head off: I’m in favor of a quality soloq experience).

That would literally kill the pvp community and you would have 20+ minute queues.

for pvp you can jump in at level 1 on any class. warrior can be a fun class to learn with, its pretty user friendly. Role is dependent on build.

Keeping solo and premade apart isn’t a solution. The good thing about the old solo queue was you could queue up and play with other people your level in fun games. That isn’t the case now.

I am not really sure what part of this simplicity of thought seems to escape the Anet team.

They need to stop listening to the 60 or so pro players and listen to the people who pay their bills.

I admit to being an average player. I would like a casual alternative for when my friends are not on.

SoloQ was the best thing this game had going for it pvp-wise. I could log in and play knowing that the teams were sorted fairly (as possible) and that people were not purposefully stacking a bunch of fotm classes. There was a certain fairness to SoloQ that is lacking now.

I don’t know if this would be as big an issue if some classes were not flat out better than others and people could stack them. This has really become a big issue since SoloQ was ended.

SoloQ was fun and it was fair. It drew a nice line between the serious and casual. I see no reason why it was taken out.

There are some pro-players asking for solo queue back lol.

She is also the worst ranger worldwide.

She doesn’t move, is bad at 1v1s and does not use her skills properly. She is actually so bad where I have come to the point of adding her to my friends list so I can see whether or not she’s in the hearts of the mist so I know when i should not queue up.

I’ve actually had teams that said to target Lexicety because she is so bad.

Please do not take advice from lexicety, she is only ranked because she plays so many games.

She is basically a insta-kill because she literally doesn’t move. Her playstyle instantly the first time i seen her months and months ago indicated that she was a bot being babysat by a person. Babysitting meaning the player is watching the screen now and then, taking control here and there to bypass bot detection but generally just keeping an eye to respond to chat, most likely sitting there watching tv or playing another game.

Answer to your question: “What you are loosing to?”. Mostly because other team has better map control. Or wins more battles on points. My guess is because they are overall better.

I must add to my previous post that I do like GW2 PvP.

I do encounter good matches where both, my team and the opponents are good. I don’t mind loosing from a team when we have a good team and we did the best we could and loose because the other are better. I am just saying that this seems to happen less then before.

The reason I post this, is because I want to the developer to know my experience. I hope this can help him to improve something.

I enjoy pvp, because I like to compete against real people instead of AI. I like the team based setting. I like to have fair matches. The win a PvP match by itself is rewarding. The ladder system adds something extra on top of that to strive for something to show off. It does motivate to play more.

i generally rage at people that have no place in my games, but i guess its not their fault its just bad match making.

I feel like im being matched with people under my skill level compared to the players i played with in solo queue. Its starting to get too frustrating to bother playing. I get players trying to kill beast when we are 2 capped or 3 capped, people continuously rushing far dying over and over not learning they cant take it. Players that refuse to follow a leader if you try and are for some odd reason offended that you try giving commands that could win the match, and it happens way more often then you would assume.

Every once in awhile i get a good team and its a fun match. but a lot of the wins im getting now don’t feel rewarding and losses are always going to feel like complete kitten even if you try to negate them meaning anything. Losing will always feel terrible, removing the leaderboard penalty will not help that for most players

No, our intent is not to punish anyone, directly or otherwise. Contrary to opinion of some, I do believe solos can enjoy and have a competitive match against pre-mades. While watching the behind the scene data, I have often seen solos take out a full pre-made team, but far too often than we prefer it is the other way around so we will, of course, try to avoid them as much as possible

I only ask because there are many ways we can improve the situation, beyond just preventing the match ups entirely.

I prefer solo for multiple reasons. You dont have to rely on anybody but yourself being online, and the most important reason i prefer solo is simply that it is a COMPLETELY different game than team queue. ALL players react differently and play differently, the atmosphere is just completely different.

Being put against premades as a solo player is frustrating because they will always communicate and react to you. As an example, if i go to kill a guy holding far as a solo player, generally his team fails to react. If i do it in team queue, his duo or somebody hes queued with always reacts.

I had the option to play team queue before, i tried it for like 150-200 games or so with a friend and then stopped. Solo queue kept me excited for this game, i started playing much much more often just queuing solo and trying to progress the leaderboard for it, even if it was flawed.

Team queue isnt for me, if im ever against a premade of any size even 2 people it changes the game and makes it unenjoyable for me, whereas i enjoyed the hell out of solo queue.

And another note, League of Legends is a team based game but their solo queue is more popular…. hmm..

No, I don’t think I missed the point. This is why I clarified, I wasn’t trying to say players hated solo arena (outside what you mentioned). Again, the reasons I mentioned, which at best, are only summary of the team’s reasons. The two big ones (in my mind) were that 1) people wanted a place to play casually with friends, but in a more structured environment than hotjoin. 2) Players had valid criticism of the solo ladder, which would be true for nearly any ladder that is solo in nature because Gw2 PvP is a team game. This is why we shifted away from solo/team to unranked/ranked.

An unranked arena WAS a good idea. I personally enjoy playing there as long as I don’t get spirit watch, skyhammer, or courtyard (alt-f4 is a good way to avoid those). I’m actually ok with the solo queue and team queue being merged as long as 85 percent of my matches are 5 pugs vs 5 pugs. I am NOT ok with it if 50% of the time I am playing people who have queued together.

I’m glad you feel it was a good choice. I’m sorry you’re getting maps you don’t like, but I am happy that people that enjoy those maps still get to play them, all be it rarely. That is not cool that you’re ditching your team just because you didn’t get the map you wanted.

I can look up your account if you want, though most the time people end up surprised the data doesn’t match their perceptions. I really think we should start showing more data to help with this, but I understand the reasons we don’t.

I have not had the fun i used to have in solo queue replicated at all. The match making doesnt work, ive been getting players that have no idea what they are doing, in solo queue i used to get competent players besides the random player with inflated MMR due to being new. Leaderboards are now for players with more time then skill, grind games get on top. And then it comes down to being paired with and against premades of any size 2,3,4,5 it doesnt matter it changed how the game is played compared to solo queue.

I’ve been having horrible games all day, ive never gotten this angry with pvp in this game. solo queue was so much more satisfying and enjoyable even with 4v5’s included then this abomination of a system.

and the casual leaderboard climbers with more time then skill and inflated egos are trash talking each other. cool.

i always que solo and the last 2 days i have barely run into any premades, at most a duo. (been checking every game since 16th)

id say 80% of my games are against a duo or trio and sometimes 4 or 5. as a solo player being matched against even a duo is unacceptable.

Hate to rain on the parade, but solo queue was just as bad as the combined queue. You won in solo queue by having less completely terrible players than the other team. And that still happens in the combined queue. The only difference is that people try to 1v1 less; if you try to do it, you’ll most likely lose.

This just isn’t true, the main issue with solo queue was 4v5’s. Yes there were bad games, but i’m getting LOADS more in this new system. I’m getting players that have no idea what they are doing, players that have inflated egos cause they are top 25,50,100 on leaderboards but in actuality they are not good players at all.

But the main issue is the game plays completely different when you put a group of 2,3,4,5 any size in it against players queued by themselves. solo queue and team queue were like two completely different game modes and mixing them is like throwing tennis players onto a basketball court and expecting them to even be able to contest.

To be honest I’ve been playing a lot more.
This new daily is quite nice reward wise, I’ve been experiencing a lot more closer games, and the leaderboards give me a chance to actually make it to top 25 so the incentive for me to play is there.

Before this patch, I was getting on crazy losing streaks, 17 games in a row. I’ve been getting better games post patch. I’ve shown the evidence as well.

From what ive seen ele’s and engis turn the tides of games pretty often, other then that just play what you enjoy and master it.

“competitive” ranked pvp is basically a casual leaderboard grind for mediocre players. Players with more time then skill will dominate the board leaving the actual good players wondering what the kitten?

It was announced, a month ago and many times in between. Every time they logged in for the past month the announcement sits right there in front of them. If they choose to ignore it, let them. It is no loss to you as long as they come back.

I’m not so sure that it was announced, i wouldn’t have known if i didn’t browse the forums myself. I only started to lurk the pvp forum because of the kittenty pvp patch. A lot of people don’t read the stuff your talking about. There needs to be a in game notification warning you that you are about to do something that will negatively impact you.

Since the patch ive been playing much less ive noticed, when i do play a match its just frustrating. Never thought id say this “again” but i’m thinking of re-subbing to WoW now that i cant solo queue on this game. =/

had the same problem, had to poop … left queue … got up .. queue popped …. thought there was still dishonor so i accepted. Prairie dogged the entire god kitten match, very unenjoyable.

Im not sure about that guy, but im finding the top players are just playing a lot of games. For example the #2 player atm has been put on my team multiple times, i cant fathom how he is #2 as he plays absolutely horribly. When you tell him something he goes into saying “im a top player u dont know kitten blah blah”.

Generally if you want to perform decently and progress the leaderboard use any solid meta build and play a lot of games. If you can master or get very good at a build you will progress.

as a solo player i dont want to face 2,3,4,5 man premades at all. i want a queue for all solo players.

yeah i noticed im not getting the same players as before and its causing very frustrating matches. Most of the players im getting seem not to understand basic rotating.

Devs trying to cater pvp to the carebears. Oh look you can spam games and get top 100 on leaderboards woohoo come play pvp. Losses should mean more, solo players should have their own queue, #1 player in a game your trying to make “competative” should not have a negative win/loss ratio.

yeah, make sure your not character switching at any point after you accept the queue. It will cause dishonor. (sucks i know)
