Guild Mission/Favor problem for 1-2 p guilds

i’m in a micro guild (me)…i don’t like the bigger guilds because i don’t want to feel like i’m being bossed around (i get enough of that at work) or serving a leader. i really don’t want to join another guild to serve somebody while they choose which decorations to build.
a smaller guild gives you some individuality-even if it’s just small things like guild banners or guild names or emblems. and the fact remains that guilds obviously were in fact designed for smaller groups and individuals (you can start one for 1 gold).
the mega guilds really have zero appeal but i can see large chunks of people just playing with guildies/just chatting with guildies/just doing missions (or feeling obligated to) further splintering the player base.
all op and people like me are asking for is something to do with our small guilds. why not introduce mercenaries for small guilds (npcs we could unlock to use for small guild missions) or something creative. i’ll just abandon my small guild and go guildless before joining mega guild and serving great leader.
i suppose the thing that has me worried is that we haven’t seen anything but verdant brink. i went back and watched the hot trailers just to see if there were glimpses of other areas-nothing…i mean we have already seen everything in the trailers-vb is tiring me out already.
could it be the reason they haven’t shown anything else (either in beta or trailers) is that this is it? 4 vb styled maps all similar in style and content? the expac is a wonderful value for new players (the core game is truly massive by itself) but 50 bucks for 4 vb maps?
of course they could alleviate some of these concerns by actually letting us see some different content. doesn’t have to be beta weekend could be videos or even screenshots…as is this thing feels small and cramped.
yeah it’s weird i mean the maps feel like dungeons and possibly the gliding opens up possibilities but i don’t know. i mean running down narrow paths and falling 10000 feet if you veer off feels constricting.
buy maybe it’s just the setting…i don’t like this version of the jungle (and the jumanji soundtrack isn’t helping things ). but who knows it could be better when fully implemented or maybe the other maps are better.
do these maps (map… we have only seen verdant brink) feel as large as maps from gw2 core? do they feel as expansive and interesting (ymmv)?
i don’t really like verdant brink. feels cramped and i don’t like the verticality, it gives the illusion of space but the maps themselves are very tightly pathed. almost like three sw maps ‘stacked’ on top of each other except each layer feels smaller. how would you guys compare the size of verdant brink to say kessex hills or another region?
should we expect the other three maps to be like vb? will setting change? jungle is boring me already. i wish they had done this like caledon forest with more variety to the terrain…some swamps some jungle some water.
i don’t really think it’s unfair to expect a ‘preview’ in a paid beta. not as if i’m asking for the entire game and all the loot. just to see another area (again not all areas).
and i guess what shook me a bit was the failure of the recent event. i mean the devs were grasping at straws as to why it failed…and the player base knew immediately why it failed. i think our feedback on content could have proven valuable.
but that ship has sailed. and i don’t necessarily think the beta ‘conversation’ we have been having (which mechanics work best/which class is op/weapon choices etc…) is necessarily a reflection of the player base. honestly many of the people arguing fiercely about mechanics and specs will be bored with these same mechanics and specs in a month.
so then what’s left? the quality of the content…and we have only seen tiny slivers of it.
edit: what is also troubling is the suspicion that all areas will be like verdant brink …which means they have only shown us small slices of a very similar pie.
edit 2: i’m not really experiencing buyer’s remorse as such (hey it’s not like it cost 500 bucks)…more like buyer’s anxiety-this thing better be good..i hope it doesnt suck..etc…
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
well i did already buy the ticket. but i’m not asking for the whole story just to see more of the game-i mean these small cutouts of these maps have just left me flat. which isn’t to say the whole expac is this way but we haven’t seen anything else.
are the npc’s and storylines interesting? are the environments? these are the things that won’t change on release. great mechanics in a boring environment mean nothing to me. i might as well be playing a simulator. so yeah i would like to see more content in beta.
i think we have seen a biased ‘survey’/test-those most interested in the mechanical side had tons of opinions and those interested in content have gone unheard. but i like the core game so maybe everything will be ok (fingers crossed).
running an event and stopping to get a node…sort of takes the energy/vibe out of it.
i don’t feel like i’ve seen enough to make a judgement on the expac and so the fear is that voices are getting silenced because frankly there isn’t anything to say.
mechanics seem to be the easiest to fix (and the one that is going to change regardless of where they are now) but the content isn’t going to change. i think feedback like ‘hey this is a boring area’ or these ’npc’s are really good let’s see more of them’ could have been helpful along the way.
but now it feels too late to actually have any influence on the game-it’s done now and i haven’t seen anything.
i’m not all that interested in the mechanics…to me if these are broken they can be fixed. but if the content and story is uninspired/uninteresting -what can be done?
i’m not saying the content is that (altho i wasn’t exactly spellbound by the jungle setting) but i am saying i haven’t seen enough of it to make a decision on whether it’s good or not.
i guess to a more specific question (this is my first time beta testing)..is the amount of content we have seen so far in line with beta testing from other big mmo’s. how does this compare to the amount beta testers saw in say wow or everquest 2 or swtor? some of this is apples and oranges i realize but at least it’s a baseline.
so i was wondering have we seen enough of the new expac to qualify this as a beta? our exposure has been so limited i don’t even really know what to expect from hot.
i think it’s been a mistake to release only this tiny sliver of content because what can we really say? how does this compare with beta releases of expacs from other mmo’s? this is a tough question because there really aren’t that many other big mmo’s doing expacs.
i suppose my concern is that we have seen such a limited amount of content i don’t even know what they could have done with that feedback (other than make small qol fixes on these particular sections of the map). and now we are so close to release that bwe3 can’t be much more than a stress test for the game. it’s unlikely they could incorporate major changes in the game at this point.
the beta so far hasn’t shown me enough to judge anything. i fear that the only feedback they are listening to are the people that fully bought into the maps (i can’t be the only one that stopped playing out of disinterest on bwe1 and bwe2).
fans: we want more armor sets (preferably in game not in gem store)
devs: ok, we won’t make any more armor sets….
putting aside the obvious point-effort is what they are paid for. if they have consciously made a decision not to produce armor sets (and this is by all appearances what they have done) then the game is a different one than what it was.
and of course some people will be happy about this but many won’t be. which is fine but the decision making on this has been vague (being charitable). so we can only operate on what information is available…they used to make armor sets and now they don’t.
Whatever happened to “the customer is always right” as a business practice.
They did listen to their customers, which is why there have been no new armor skins in the gem store and we’re stuck with outfits instead.
we can’t say they ‘listened’ to the fans on this matter. it isn’t as if they stopped putting armor sets in gem store and started introducing armor sets in game-they have simply stopped making armor sets completely.
2 armor sets announced for expac. saying there will be more is wishful thinking.
http://dulfy.net/2015/08/29/gw2-two-new-armor-sets-in-heart-of-thorns/All that says is that 1 player was able to find info on 2 new armor sets in the announcements. The fact that they happen to have a fan page to post their findings on doesn’t turn it into an official announcement on the full content of the expansion.
Anet are not going to list every single thing that will be in the expansion, just like they didn’t list every single thing that was in the core game when it came out. As far as I remember their discussion on armor sets before release was entirely centred on the fact that each dungeon would have a unique one, with passing mentions that others would be available elsewhere. (And a lot of talk about the transmutation system.)
Admittedly this does mean we don’t know how many will be in the expansion, just that it will be 2 or more. But we also know already that they will continue to add stuff after the initial release – raids for one thing – and I’d be very surprised given their announcement about the shift to releasing armor skins in-game if that didn’t include making new sets as rewards.
Otherwise they’ve taken a whole team of people off designing content to sell in the gem store and moved them to making…nothing. Which wouldn’t make any sense at all.
I actually think this would be a valid argument if we had seen more armor sets in the past year. but..since we have seen 1 new armor set(cara/lumi are the same set) in roughly a year the idea that hot will see a flood of new armor sets seems like a pipe dream.
i don’t think they want to make armor sets due to the difficulty/work involved and have switched to outfits. in the first year and a half we saw 50 armor sets for each weight class…in the last year or so we have seen 1.
could be dulfy has this completely wrong and they are planning on releasing a ton of new armor sets but the track record says differently.

(edited by Selkirk.4218)
it is a puzzling decision. there are so many threads with fans of the game begging for more armor sets (not skins) and more choice…to take these away feels wrongheaded.
and i actually would be ok if they were replacing these sets but we already know there are only 2 new armor sets in hot…how did the devs interpret threads asking for more armor sets as ‘take armor sets away’?
it reminds me of the last event. players are constantly lamenting the sorry state of loot in the game and in the last event..we got no loot! we seem to be getting the opposite of what we want lately…
the problem is not with the rewards…it’s the events themselves. we are sending the wrong message when we say ‘if only we could get more blooms…’
the events had no story logic to them. you waypoint to a vendor and some npc’s are blabbing around then at : 30 an ‘invasion’ starts…this lasts for 30 minutes then…gaaaahhhhhh.
the thought process behind the entire thing (from rewards and especially the events themselves) reveal a big divide between what the developers think we want and what we actually want.
while i do appreciate the honesty from the dev team without knowing more about the thought process behind the event it is impossible to help. this event has turned into a frankenstein monster…halp, we know it’s broken but we can’t stop it.
we need to know what the devs think went wrong? why are the devs so confused as to what the players want? is an open call to the community really the right way to get back on track?
guys there is nothing salvageable from this event…nothing. it can’t be ‘fixed’ or ‘improved’. there is nothing to be gained from looking at what failed with this event (everything failed). i feel confused and sad that the game is in this state.
i think it probably qualifies as the worst because of the content drought between this and the last event. prior events may have been arguably as bad but they were following relatively fresh content.
this stuff is the first content we have seen in roughly a year…and frankly it should have been really really good-not just for vets but for all the ftp players as well. the event stinks..its boring..broken…no thought put into it.
they just dropped this junk on top of the existing maps. the other events are still running while the mordrem are invading?… didn’t anybody plan or play this stuff before pushing it out?
I don’t know… out of everything wrong and broken with the event, my favorite thing was watching a convoy of Bandits wandering into the middle of a horde of dragon minions, apparently without a single care in the world. It made my day.
:D..i literally couldn’t believe they didn’t change anything. mordrem are invading and the map is still running normal event chains.
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
its really disappointing and disheartening. the events are zero fun. i had a friend join ftp and was going to run around with her for these events…too embarrassed to even try now.
they just dropped this junk on top of the existing maps. the other events are still running while the mordrem are invading?… didn’t anybody plan or play this stuff before pushing it out?
i don’t think people were complaining about the amount of armor skins, if this thread shows anything its that we’re hungry for new skins!
i think the issue was that people who didn’t put money into the game were seeing all of the gemstore armor skins and wanting more armours that they could achieve through gameplay.[/quote]
honestly it doesn’t matter if the armor skins are in game or on gemstore…the concern is that there aren’t any available. i have gems that i am waiting to spend and nothing to spend them on… i look at outfits with disdain and dissapointment. meanwhile my gems just sit there.
it isn’t solely a matter of complaint …it is a matter of confusion and concern. again why was the development team able to deliver 50+ sets of armor for each weight class in the first year and a half and only 3 armor sets in the following year and half +?
the wheels have fallen off with armor sets (by inclination/lack of artists and skill/engine problems…possibly all three). with the expac the opportunities were there to revitalize crafting/exploration and just fun. wouldn’t it be cool to actually make some new armor or get armor for completing regions/defeating crazy bosses? all of this abandoned for what is easy..outfits.
i think they have badly misread the player base on the armor issue and this might not be entirely their fault(they might not be capable of making armor anymore)
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
yeah i have serious doubts that we will see any more armor sets in the near future. feels like this is all they have. i can’t imagine that 6 months after release of hot they would introduce say 9 more armor sets.
design decisions have been made by choice and/or circumstance. feels like armor sets are finished as any sort of ongoing development plan.
actually this is a comparison between what the original design team was able to accomplish (50+ armor sets) and what the present design team is able to accomplish (2 armor sets).
what’s happened? it’s an honest question. how did we get to this point? is the engine too old to update armor sets? can the artists no longer design armor?
but look at when those were introduced. all of them have been on store for longer than a year or more. i really have my doubts that the art team can actually make armor sets at this point.
it might not even be a matter of wanting to make outfits because they are the cheapest and easiest thing to make (altho they certainly are). but it could be that the present design and art teams simply have an inability to make armor sets anymore…can’t model correctly, can’t design …
i wonder if they have the artists and technical skill to actually make armor sets anymore. this isn’t a snide or snarky question but an honest one. did the artists who made the crafted/dungeon etc.. sets leave? or has it become too complex to model armor now?
they only have 2 new armor sets announced for hot..that would put the number of new armor sets at 3 (cara/lumi) for the last 1 year+ of development. they had 50 or so sets for each weight class in the first 1 year+…
the problems are running deeper than the obvious reasons for outfits (they are super cheap to make).
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
yeah but we know these mobs will drop trash mob loot…i mean what’s the point of fighting? like going thru orr and fighting mobs every step of the way…no thanks i’d rather run past them and get to something interesting (faceless mordrem/giant beetles/ and wasps really don’t interest me).
to the map…just feels like such a huge gamble to have a love it or hate it map as the showcase. like i said i do respect the integrity of what the designers are going for (just because i don’t like it doesn’t mean i can’t respect it). but it is rather telling that on both beta weekends i went to the maps for all of 20 mins on each and never went back.
still as noted as long as i get some new skins and maybe have some fun in other areas the expac is still worth it…even if it’s not i’ve wasted 50 bucks on computer games before (yeah im looking at you dragon age).
i don’t get the mob difficulty thing . trash mobs should be trash mobs. increasing the difficulty of mobs makes little to no sense (i just run past them)…like putting speed bumps on the highway every 1/4 mile. only serves to irritate. increasing the power of bosses does make sense however.
i spent like 20 mins on map and then ran a sw event with my main…haven’t been back to verdant brink and won’t go back this weekend. there is nothing there that keeps my interest.
this doesn’t mean xpac is a failure (and i actually respect the conviction the designers are showing…pursuing wrong headed ideas at least shows some integrity). and there is hope for the rest of the maps.
it’s just vb is dull and irritating.. t i don’t like spending my time running down narrow paths getting harassed by ‘difficult’ trash mobs. and does every fall have to be 1000 feet…i mean couldn’t some of these cliff faces gradually descend. one wrong step and whoops you fall forever..
the maps really are confusing and somehow at the same time railroady…go this way (and only this way) to a deadend…
i’ve quickly lost interest in verdant brink. the jungle setting just doesn’t capture my imagination/interest (the jumanji soundtrack playing in the background isn’t helping matters). i don’t like the creatures (wasps yay ^^;) and i just sprint past the mordrem (they don’t have visual impact like the thrashers and terragriffs from sw).
but i haven’t given up on expac yet…guild halls sound promising and hopefully we get some good city based content and new armor (not outfits) sets.
it really isn’t a ‘challenge’ running past mobs of animals and roots…more of an irritation. let’s save the challenging content for bosses/events.
mmm…not exactly looking for sw2…but with the present map (and in fairness this is a small section) i really feel railroaded. i feel forced to take a certain path and constrained in my movements-there is only one way to go to each ‘event’ /objective
and again with the lack of wp’s death is painful (not in a challenging way but in a ‘holy crap i’ve got to walk all the way across the map sort of way’).
i just don’t see the appeal in fighting beetles and tigers and tendrils every five feet-these mobs are uninteresting to me…at least skritt have some personality. the mushroom heads and various mordrem elements don’t have that much appeal.
these are just first impressions of a small portion of the map so i’m not that worried yet…if the entire thing is like this-umm….
it really does make it unpleasant traveling through the new zone… coupled with the fact that there are only 2 waypoints -makes just getting to an event a royal pain.
at one point i grew really tired of fighting and went back to the village to chill out-and it was under attack ^^;. throw in the endless deaths from falling and you have a tedious slog.
other danger is that i’m already growing bored with the jungle. i’m hoping they have a lot of city content (and armor sets) in the full release.

(edited by Selkirk.4218)
i do feel like i’m being pushed to do sw. and i actually like(d) sw but ran it so much i’m now bored of it.
so i figure i would run dungeons again and i was shocked at how lousy the loot was. i didn’t understand why speedruns were so imperative but now i do. if you run dungeons at a slow pace you are actually behind just harvesting and killing mobs in open pve…much less sw. and i get that anet abandoned dungeons but…dang at least make the loot on par with pve mob killing.
after 6 runs (one path from each dungeon except how and arah)..i had a bunch of useless blue and greens/some t4 and t5 mats/2 rares or something. went and ran sw immediately after this and came back with bags full of mats/6 rares/one 8 gold exotic…
now im running fractals…and i really like the content and it’s tough and fun…but dat loot ^^;. tough to keep going(i mean maybe for ascended rings but then what’s the point-maybe i would be 1% better in zergs in sw?). in fairness i’m only at scale 6 in fractals maybe loot gets better.
it’s frustrating when the tougher content (where your individual contribution actually matters) makes you feel like your wasting your time. could make 3 times as much mindlessly chest farming or doing vw…i’m still going to keep pushing fractals at least for awhile tho.
yeah the orr zones are irritating. if you stop to open your map/check inventory/change skills-you get attacked…every step of the way. it’s like if you went in the woods and every 3 ft a bear would jump out.
i get that it’s a warzone but the orr zones are just ludicrous…what enemy or army would space soldiers out individually to cover every inch of land?
pet peeve #1-if it’s not the endless mobs …then it’s the trebuchets. which in gw2 have been converted into incredibly accurate and fast range weapons against individual players . not exactly sure this is how trebuchets worked in the middle ages.
pet peeve #2-the sentimental attachment mobs have towards the moldy old stumps/rocks/plant life (nodes) that litter orr. this actually goes for all of gw2…why do these creatures place importance on nodes?
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
it’s entirely possible anet purposefully put in a multiplier (something that gave better chances on table) for new accounts.
why would they do this? to keep ‘new’ players more interested in the game. long time players are used to lousy drops but rng would burn out new players. the assumption being that veterans will keep playing regardless but new players need drops to keep playing. could explain the new account disparity.
it’s not really the world bosses it’s the mobs. take the turret defense events on tequatl for instance…if you run around one hitting (early shots) mobs you get credit for kills. if you jump in on mobs late you don’t get credit. same thing is in effect for mobs on cursed shore etc..
so it makes you change your playstyle (not for the better), .instead of focusing on a vet i’m going to try and first hit as many creatures as i can then go back to vet. first hit for little damage trumps later hit for massive damage almost every time.
yeah hit wardrobe in bank and you can see which skins you like. it’s pretty cheap to unlock the skins for most sets. cultural armor is a good tip but also check various pieces in the dungeon sets. you don’t have to run dungeons too many times to get 1 piece or 2 from each one.
@Dragon
I had a lot of the same thoughts/feelings when i found out about the ‘joke’ (it really isn’t a joke as jokes have punchlines…more like a mean spirited prank i guess).
Anet does do a number of things right with the game which is why so many are so upset with how the ‘prank’ was implemented. A toggle switch or opt in on this was the only right way to make it work. I mean why would they put something in that is this gamechanging and make it mandatory?
But smart people make mistakes sometimes. The mature and honest thing to do is for anet to apologize or at the very least acknowledge that they have upset a number of players. The forums are seriously toxic right now. It’s making me a bit ill reading some of the threads.
I think an apology would go a long way with most fans. Despite our complaints we actually like the developers.
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
No new content until we release the expac at some future date is a meaningless and dishonest statement. An example of a meaningful and honest statement is ‘we will not release new content until the expac is released in 6 months’. A dissapointing statement but at least an honest one.
But a ‘guarantee’ of no new content coupled with a completely hazy release date is distasteful.
In fairness to Anet , in the absence of content, how could they announce a release date? Knowing that if they said 6 months then half of the playerbase quits and some of them come back on expac release and some forget the game or find something new.
So it’s a blog post here and a you tube video there-and no new content all along the way (however long the way is ^^;). A series of teases to string us along..this isn’t enough.
Not all mmo’s function this way. And frankly even if they did why would gw2 have to operate in the same fashion? No, the problem is they either don’t have the staff (which is probable but regrettable) and/or didn’t plan (again probable and regrettable).
And we all understand the ‘complexities’ of an expac.. it’s a computer game they aren’t working at Cern. Some delays would be excusable but ‘leave us alone we’re doing stuff’ isn’t enough. Hype about an expac isn’t a substitute for content.
but…i think the point of this thread is planning (and the lack thereof) for an expansion. It would be be difficult to argue that Anet has planned this well.
Given the progression structure, which is maddeningly vertical then flattens immediately, they had to know the game needs content. Which in itself is frustrating as again the world is already large enough and is lovingly crafted. A shame then that i have no reason to visit these places.
On release dates..it’s fine not to say october 11th or whatever specific day but to not release a schedule of rough dates is a disservice. I honestly have no idea when it’s coming out…next week…6 more months… Is this the way to do things? Goes back to planning…
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
I’m not an mmo historian so i can’t really answer that. And i’m not really not asking for sw part 2 or a new zone like cursed shore but…we have nothing new.
This actually would be ok (the game world itself is incredibly large) if there was a reason to do lower level content/zones. At present there really isn’t. Anet doesn’t necessarily need a new ‘zone’ but a storyline or series of rewards based in a neglected zone(s) would help things along tremendously. Or you could tease out the expac with a storyline…I know season 2 did this but those truly seem like echoes of the past.
Again, the problem the ‘gap’ has created is that Hot is going to face unrealistic expectations from a player base hungry for content.
At this point I personally don’t think one new class is going to satisfy it. If they knew/planned this expac would create a year long ‘gap’ then the expac needs to be more ambitious (another race/several more classes/loads of new armor skins). And we need dates for this expac-what’s with the mystery? Anet certainly has time frames for rollout why can’t we get rough time frames?
Keep in mind i come from eq2 which is on like expansion 15.
The expansion pack launch/rollout has not been planned well… Existing players have been left in the lurch with only new dyes and instruments to fiddle (literally?) around with.
Lack of content creates 2 problems:
1) bores your most loyal players. gem store items are nice for a day or two but they have real dr-playing a bass guitar at ulgoth doesn’t make the fight better.
2) creates unrealistic expectations for the expansion
After this drought of content the expansion not only needs to deliver almost as well as the gw2 core game itself it almost has too.
i love sw. there is nothing like fighting in a lane and beating one of the champs with 1 or 2 secs left on the clock-nerve wracking and exciting. great loot in sw helps things of course, i love getting all the bags and stuff from labyrinth after vw. bandit chests are just icing on the cake as you go along.
favorite recent sw story-i was in south lane and we were up again for a boss(10 carriers down) and we rushed in…turns out there were legit like 6 of us fighting this boss. but we kept fighting and won with 3 ticks left on the clock. it was easily one of the coolest in game moments i have had. unexpected victory and awesome fun.
and vw can fail which is good imo..gives it a level of uncertainty-something sorely lacking in world boss fights.
notes-if you get on a chestfarmmap just find another one. most chestfarms run on 0% maps anyways…it’s generally pretty easy to find a vw map.
(edited by Selkirk.4218)
since dyes don’t drop-dye prices have skyrocketed. and it isn’t just shadow abyss (219 gp) or glint’s isolation (396gp ^^;…) it’s all of them. what used to be mid range/cost dyes are now 100 gp.
the other thing about dyes not dropping(in addition to things like black lion keys) is that the loot table is really small. i tend to get the same rares over and over…i have enough conjurer coats/boots/gloves/masks to clothe the harry potter school. throw some dyes on that loot table just to keep things interesting.
1) Maw: fun and easy. i usually kill moa’s while waiting for him. the side events (totem and portals are broken…over in 2 secs).
loot-average.
community-cool and pretty noisy. great place to be seen and showoff new gear/looks.
2) Behemoth: visually fun the first few times but boring after that. there needs to be more of a connection with the portals and the behemoth.
loot-average
community-below average..not anyone’s fault it’s just the swamp environment doesn’t lend itself to fun boxes/banners etc. a relatively quiet affair.
3) Fire elemental: the fight is too quick and the pre’s take forever. long countdown to boss. i usually skip this one.
loot- average
community-average..most people afk this event.
4) Mark 2: visually interesting and can be challenging if you aren’t on the box. loot is ok but there isn’t much to do before he arrives.
loot-average
community-below average…most people sit on the box.
5) Jormag: really fun the first few times after that it’s really boring. one of those events that if i get there too early i will leave.
loot-above average
community-cool. almost always banners and food-good place to be seen and show off.
6) Tequatl: now this is my fight. i love it. a ton going on and the setting and tequatl is such a kitten.
loot-excellent (at least a 4 g haul total).
community-excellent…always a ton of banners/food and people goofing off playing music etc..
7) Megadestroyer: cool boss and scene (i love the dialogue from the npc’s here). but…the fight is boring and the lead in can be long. nothing to do if you get there early. loot-average
community-above average..and it’s something of a surprise given the wp situation and the dark room. still a bunch of people show up and it can be rowdy fun.
8) Shatterer: really dull fight with a long lead in. shatterer looks cool but just stands there.
loot-average with lottery potential
community-average to subpar…everyone stands on rock which makes it awkward to dance/play music etc.. dark environment doesn’t help things
9) Ulgoth: i really like this fight and the taunts from ulgoth but…has a long lead in to the brawl. there are things to do like kill tamini but that gets dull.
loot-average
community-good..typically there will be people dancing and having fun. sometimes banners and food. people always riff on ulgoth’s threats/rants. great place to be seen and showoff.
10) Taidha: i love the scene and the boss but the pre is very dull (make it half as long). still it’s cool.
loot-average
community-average to subpar…great place to showoff but no one shows up until the events are in progress. so there are few banners etc..
11) Karka Queen: fun fight but problems are similar to megadestroyer. i have no reasons to stick around in the zone and i’m only going for the brawl.
loot-average to above average
community-ok ..it’s always packed but the landscape is purplish dark and beyond defending fort not much going on here…
12) Jungle Wurm: cool low level fight but it’s over really fast.
loot-average
community-better than average…newer players show up so there is some nervous energy which helps.
temple events:
dwayna: ‘duuuannnaaaa’.. i like it. depends on how much you like malchor tho. long event but it has a ton of flavor.
loot-average
lyssa: fun event and lyssa packs a real punch. a bunch of stuff to do and the pre events are fun.
loot-below average for the fight.
melandru: super fun fight…small zergs get turned into alligators. great music and environment. extra champ bags with the spider after you take down the priest. good fight. and the pre fights are actually fun with this one and flow really well to main battle.
loot-underwhelming to average…just feels like you should get more.
balthazar: excellent fight with large potential for failure. once you get to the temple it’s a true large scale brawl. really fun when it all works.
loot: average
grenth: hard to get to and difficult to determine if you should even try (getting there late is likely). fights are ok but setting bores a bit.
loot: average
risen wizard/gates of orr: really fun event with a ton of battles along the way. the fights are fun and there are numerous champs going to the gate.
loot: average to above average
notes- cursed shore events can bring very good loot depending on how you do with mobs…some mobs will drop rares along the way . community for these events is generally good but the events move quickly and people are focused on the fight…overall good.
right now i generally start with tequatl and go to shaman just because they are back to back. the rest i skip (just not worth the time investment…way i figure it is for those 20-30 minutes i could almost run silverwastes or be run orr temple events).

yeah this thru me for a loop too when i was leveling up (and afterwards ). I wish they had an appearance system(like everquest 2) where you could wear your gear and another tab had the displayed items.
makes levelling an alt more painful when you have to wear weird crap up until level 80..i just transmuted on a level 2 toon and plan on her wearing that gear up until level 30 at least.
