I am not familiar with that error, but does it happen on every character you play? Have you tried running a memory test?

Ranger and Mesmer are both great choices. Honestly, you can’t really make a bad choice. (Although leveling a thief is harder than most)

The game is divided into 3 sections:
SPVP (structured PVP) where you are boosted to level 80 and given SPVP gear that you can change up while in the lobby area. You can also mess with your stats etc. all for free. To access SPVP you hit H and on the left side there is a pvp tab. Click it and choose to be in the mists. (there is a small pvp tutorial that you can do.. or run past to the end) You can then join up for skirmish type warzones and try out your build. It’s a great way to see what your character will be like at 80. I am not sure if you can hit H before you have finished your first intro quest though. The other SPVP is tournament play.

There is PVE: PVE zones are level specific. As a level 70 I could go into a level 2 land and still get XP from questing because it will downgrade me to level 3. A safe bet for PVE is trying to get a map complete in each area. (Hit M and look at the map completion for that area and what is needed.) If that seems too structured for you, don’t do it :P You don’t ‘get’ quests in this game. You wander into areas where quests are going on. Most people head for the heart quests. Basically you do that persons (questgivers) quest and then you talk to them to see what they can sell you. (Or you can horde all your karma points for later and just use dropped loot for equipment)

WVW: World vs. world. the best part of the game imo. You can level all the way to 80 by just doing wvw if you wanted. When you enter wvw you are boosted to level 80 HOWEVER, you don’t have your level 80 traits/skills. It’s hard to explain.. but keep your gear up with your level the best you can and you will not be steamrolled by actual 80’s.

Depending on your server the queue time to enter a wvw zone can be minutes or many many hours. Jump in at an early level and follow a zerg or explore on your own. To join wvw hit B and choose to go into wvw. Choose a borderland or eternal BG. Most people have more fun in eternal probably… which is why the wait time on that is highest. I like borderlands myself.

What weapon are you using? Dagger/Scepter?

I am confused by what you mean. Exotic weapons can be crafted (as well as exotic gear) and are not at all legendary. Legendary requires months or years to create using the great forge. It is my understanding that legendary gear has the same stats as exotic it just looks cooler. Like a billion times cooler

I achieved 100% world completion today, after desperately trying to get the last few points of interest in the borderlands. My character still only has 97-98% completion in the achievements tab and login screen.

I assume all running dungeons in explorable mode are required to reach the explorer achievements – is this required for character completion as well, or am I missing something else? (Apart from a life, that is.)

I read in one of the forums that it was a bug and being looked into. (If I am understanding correctly) Might want to check the bug or tech forums.

I am really not sure how they did it even though we were on skype.

All I can tell you is that I had people keep trying to get onto my full server until it worked.

edit: we got 6 people over in one evening.

I use a logitech G13 and can’t live without it. But it too has a learning curve. You hate it when you start with it, but eventually can’t live without it. I use it left handed with my mouse in my right hand and keyboard just for typing.

It has a little mini joystick that I have mapped wasd to (I actually use wqes, but you can do w/e)

Yes the little red line is your range indicator. I’m not sure what pusling/flashing is. I assumed it was a bug :P

Also, what weapon(s) are you using? And when you say pvp are talking strictly Spvp or wvw?

Each attribute point put into toughness increases the armor of the character by one, which improves the character’s ability to withstand direct damage.

Ele’s start with lower health than most classes so vitality is important as well.

You can only use pvp gear in Spvp.
Also, the breather is not just for underwater. It’s just a hat. You can always breath under water.

You can join a friend for pve who is on another server. Join as a party then right click their portrait and choose join.

Most of the people on my server know what has to happen. There is no single leader. In fact we never have anyone barking orders. There is actually very little chat going on. Chat is reserved for the facts. Not orders. IE: “Dreaming Bay being hit by 20-30”. That’s all that is said for a few minutes. Our server knows to go get the north and south camps back so dolyaks can run supply to that keep. Also, siege is placed accordingly. etc. etc.

I disagree with you mcl. There are lots of things smaller groups can and should do. Anything to divert the enemies is good for your team.

If you are in borderlands and you go for the north camp, it requires them to recall back to get it. Especially if you are being cornered on your map. You need to divide the enemy up to allow your zerg to make progress. Also, the north camp feeds the south east and south west towers.

Getting the quaggen is worthy in borderlands. They send an attack force out to help you get the camps. (Or they send guards to the camps if you already own them) And getting the Hyleks, Dredge & Ogre in eternal are also worthy and doesn’t require a large group. They also help you take the camps on either side of them.

Orbs. Orbs are important stat boosters that benefit everyone in all 4 lands. Your primary goal should always be to get the orb and place it in a castle you own.

My level 80 endgame so far is wvwin’g… still. I love wvw and that’s why I play And trying to get my exotic gear. legendary gear might be too hard for me to contemplate. Anyway, I have all my level 80 karma gear and my exotic weapon but have a ways to go on my exotic gear. And from there the 6 piece set bonus.

edit: And you still ‘level’ after 80 and get skill points. It is my understanding that it takes hundreds of skillpoints for legendary gear. (Among doing other harder things)

I can’t thank you enough for punishing people who are used to spouting off trash in other games. This has been a truly unique experience for me. The chat is truly tolerable most nights. And a person who goes for the shock factor with utter filth is not there the next day.

I did a map complete for that area but can’t remember it specifically. Can you post a screen shot of the map area?

What version of Windows? Where do you have the game installed? Try going straight to a folder on the desktop.
