Snowblind has plenty of lootable mobs, but no one kills them. It belongs (at least) in the Decent drops category. Before the icewall the Icebrood Wolves summoned by hunters have loot, after the icewall there are 15 elementals to kill (that hardly anyone does) while taking out the big elemental, and then there are at least 3 groups of hunters and wolves to kill on the way to the boss. Easily as much if not more loot than Aquatic. Aquatic simply forces you to kill them.
Yep, the Snowblind enemies on the way to the finial boss have awesome loot drop rates. Pretty much every one of them drop something. They blow up in seconds so there is really no loss of time.
A couple pro tips:
Path 1 – Hacking the security console:
Have 2 people hack the console and destroy those 2 waves of golems at the same time. Then have 3 people hack and you can either run to the next fight or destroy the rest of the golems with out the bombs spawning.
The people who are not hacking just need to do aoe or cone damage around where the console is. The bomb guys die quick and you don’t have to run around like headless chickens.
Path 3 – Destroyer:
3 people hit the lasers and everyone jump down to the boss and dps burst damage. Having a mesmer for group quickness makes this fight a breeze. Go back up the stairs when you start to see the fire shield appearing and repeat. Should take only 4-5 rounds or less depending on dps and if no ones dies. This seems to be a higher skill fight if you don’t want to do it the boring way.
I’ve thought about soloing it, but since there are so many gathering events I decided to get a group just to save time. Time = money!
I hope the remove the spy kits and portal guns use in dungeons if only too see the bad players post in the forums about how unfair it is to remove their use.
Also, I like having at least 1 harder path in a dungeon then the others. The harder paths usually require more skill and coordination to complete effectively like with CoE path 3. Not every path should be a face roll farming route.
Yep, there are too many rings with condition damage and magic find. I got a ring with healing and precision but then it was ruined it with condition damage.
Woah, 17k achievement points? I find that hard to believe. I think a screenshot is in order here
water > smoke > ethereal > dark > ice > fire > lightning > poison > light
This
Also: This order should be for “blast” combos. I would rearrange the order for other finishers.
Is that for blast finishers? The correct order for blast finishers is:
Water > Fire > Dark > Poison > Light > Ethereal > Smoke > Ice > Lightning
The first 3 are the only good ones for dungeons, I don’t really care about the rest.
So really, this thread is nothing but people whining about their desired boring way of killing a boss being changed.
This change made a boring boss just… more boring.
Changing a desired boring way into an even more boring way of finishing the boss is not the right way
Making fights actually challenging is what should be done!
It is only boring because you are doing it wrong.
My group usually does the fractal daily, HotW path 1, CoF path 1, then AC. All are rather quick and get good payouts.
Fractals is good IF you get good drops. The other dungeons are great for straight money and tokens.
Agreed with all the points except for 5. I enjoy doing the dredge fractal because of all the enemies there are to kill. They drop a lot of loot which is awesome. The respawning of enemies on the Charr fractal in the first part where you need to break down the gate is annoying because they don’t drop loot. Loot = money!
This fight is a great example of separating the good from the bad. The only thing that would be good to change is having a closer res point.
This fight is only boring and tedious because everyone is doing it the very slow way. The proper technique is for 3 people to hit the lazers, and then EVERYONE jumps down and does damage to the boss. Using burst abilities and having quickness will drain the HP very quickly. Doing the proper technique actually takes some skill to execute without people dying to the lava, hence why most people think this boss encounter is bad.
The path is broken? I run the path every day and have never had the said bug happen. Skipping the trash has been known to bug out the boss fights starts. Kill the trash, get loot, and you can complete then dungeon.
Another reason why I avoid running dungeons with pugs.
All you need to be able to melee successfully in a dungeon is a good support guardian. There is a huge difference in gameplay when you have that in your group.
This would work for difficulty up to 10… but for the Agony levels, how will the ensure that you have Ascended gear necessary to survive?
Well that is another issue with the new dungeon. The artificial barrier of getting Agony resistance gear. I’m okay with getting new gear that is better stats, but I’m not okay with having to get the new gear to complete the content at the higher levels.
Having to coordinate with other peoples levels to be able to play with them is quite terrible and is opposite of what GW2 is supposed to be. If a player is unable to play for any amount of time and comes back his group will have already surpassed him in level and he will be holding back the team.
Artificial barriers to content is not good for any community.
There’s actually quite a few events around the R&D Waypoint you can do while waiting for Plinx to respawn.
Arena, Rakkan, Agent something, Rakkan Fish-Oil collection and a few more, all within a minutes walk from Plinx.
Big mobs with lots of HP (Broodmother, Abomination) only need to be hit about 10-15 times to be “tagged” for Gold contribution. So you can move down to Pentient Camp while others finish the Abomination.
Yep, seems a lot people will just stay at those boss events from start to end and miss out on other events going on. If you want to really maximize karma gain people should be looking at Pentient Camp and R&D Waypoint and tag those events as well. They both last about 5 min each and have lots of mobs to kill for possible loot drops.
But then again, if those people don’t stay and finish the events for me, my strategy won’t work as well
Warhorn all the way. Swiftness is great for movement and Fury is the best boon in the game.
Rangers also have great skills for AoE DE farming. 3 large traps they can place on the ground that hit the mob before they can be seen. Longbow has a very large AoE that will continue to hit mobs after the animation ends. Axe chain attack, and Entangle elite that roots all mobs around the ranger.
DR hurts normal players and is rather discouraging. For farming events in Cursed Shore I hit DR on Karma in just 30 min.
For dungeons, DR hurts groups that are able to clear dungeons faster then expected legitimately. I see the point of DR to stop exploiters, but when it hurts legitimate players it needs another look at.
If all the players are experience and quick, with everyone going down to beat on the boss it will really speed of the time. Using all you big cool downs when you get on the boss and don’t die. Takes way too long if only 2 people are attacking the boss.
The RNG to getting the precursor seems really silly. I didn’t even believe it the first time I heard it. The only thing legendary about it is legendary luck.
If it was last least you could get one lodestone for each dungeon clear, seems most recipes require at least 100 lodestones. If you could dungeon “farm” them that is 100 clears which is enough tokens gear to gear up 3 characters…
Is 378 the max amount of karma you can get form an event? I’ve had karma buffs on and haven’t seen it go higher then 378 in the event reward pop up. Can you get more then that and the event reward just doesn’t tell you?
It is pretty lame to do and if people try to run past mobs but the rest of the group doesn’t know your gonna have a bad time. It is really annoying when people put out videos about how to skip past mobs and bosses and mass stealth the group. Hopefully this is addressed in the future by Anet.
Hopefully this will be addressed with the changes to the dungeon loot they are working on. Giving better rewards to people that do the more challenging content rather then zerg karma farm would be very welcome to me.
How about not posting about how you don’t like dungeons after only running a dungeon once. With an experienced group, a dungeon run is rather smooth and doesn’t involve kiting. Sounds like your group should be using more support skills and not all going glass cannons. Teamwork and coordination are the key to success.
Try killing the trash in that spawns when you open the door, then go and collect the scepter pieces.
Have never had this bug happen to my group.

You guys shouldn’t farm CoE for the gear because I don’t want other people to look like me. Need more people with the fire gear from CoF
DR is meant to stop exploiters, but hurts legit players that are able to clear dungeons fast. People that look for the fastest ways to skip any trash or bosses they can to get to the end is the problem.
Anet should put more artificial ways to make people actually clear the trash, kill all bosses and not skip it.
Thats in path 1, and the few times I’ve saved the inquest and I noticed no difference in the Alpha fight. Saving the inquest is way harder then any of the Alpha fights and not worth it at all.
Story mode is also needed to the Dungeon Master title.
Interesting… I’ve never had any extra adds in that fight either. Weird that you are getting extra add spawns.
I’m a bit confused on this. This is the last boss of path 1 right? I’ve cleared this path a ton of times and have never had any adds appear in the fight. Are you trying to skip trash and its coming back to get you?
Also, this path is really easy and my group usually has to take a break before we start clearing and let the clock start so we don’t hit DR.
The ranger can bring a lot to a dungeon group.
Warhorn – group might, fury, and swiftness
Torch – fire combo field
Healing Spring – group regenration, water combo field, and remove a condition from your group
Traps – fire combo field, frost combo field
Pets – have your pets give group buffs like might, fury and protection. also, remove conditions and heal your group.
Signet of Renewal – remove all conditions from your group
Quickness res – two easy was to gain quickness
Spirits – group buffs of protection, bonus damage, burning on attacks, swiftness, healing and revive
And of course, great condition and direct damage.
My experience with pugs compared to my regular dungeon group is the dps is much slower. Most people are too scared to go into melee range so man mode doesn’t work very well. Everyone just spreads out and fends for themselves with ranged attacks.
That aside, I have been able to complete almost every dungeon that I have pugged. The only fail group I had was when it was low level characters that had too little dps to progress.
Get moar AoE. This fight is a pretty fun one. Target the Assault bot first because he will use his laser and kill people.
Well at least for the event to unlock CoF is only 1 event that gives lots of loot. To open CoE you need to do a chain of events and a boss fight. To open up Arah are an event chain with multiple group boss fights.
CoF has it easy. Also, with everyone running CoF there are lots of people outside to help with the event.
Saying they are looking for a tank is rather silly especially for CoE because most fights are either aoe you need to dodge or just random agro.
Now if they ask for a support centric character that would make much more sense for every dungeon and fits this game.
My usual dungeon group is guardian, warrior, ranger, thief, and ele or mesmer. Everyone go in melee range (Man Mode) for most boss fights so everyone gets boons and heals from each other. Thing melt so fast its ridiculous.
I did this path for the first time last night since they changed the fight and I must say that actually having more time to kill the ads instead of kiting was much more enjoyable. My group does a lot of damage so we were able to keep up with the spawn rate. I could easily see other groups that do less damage having a harder time with this encounter.
Yes, the health on the trash in path 1 is more then the bosses. I ran it once and we killed the first boss and the trash there. After that we decided that we don’t want to deal with the trash so we just ran through them all to the boss and they de-agro.
As with all the other forum posts about a dungeon finder in any shape it may take, I have to agree with you. I’m rather anxious to at least have guesting in the game again. At least then you can hop around to other servers to find groups faster.
I personally find the alpha fight enjoyable as well. Rather easy as a ranger with many ways to get more endurance.
But you fight him 3 times for each path. That means if you do all 3 paths you fight alpha 9 times! Could they not have thought of another boss for the dungeon? Rather tired of doing the same fight all the time.
I am really annoyed that with every path the bosses are almost the same. There is only 1 boss that is different in each path. The rest of the bosses are the same with slightly different attacks. Seems rather lazy compared to all the other dungeons.
My dungeon group runs all melee and things melt so fast. With everyone being up close on the boss we all are giving each other boons and healing each other. We usually run a warrior, guardian, ranger, thief, and mesmer.
There are very few fights in GW2 that I feel compled to go ranged.
The funniest time in dungeons has to be the first time we did the Crucible of Eternity laser jumping. I think we all died at least 10 times each before we got 3 people to the other side. Its like a jumping puzzle on steroids. Hope to see more of that in future dungeons.
