I’m so frustrated with this . Seriously you want to tell me that someone who buys the game now gets the deluxe edition for the same money i bought the PREPAID version? That’s outrageous i mean i supported the company and the game by pre-purchasing the game and i don’t get to have the deluxe but someone that buys it now after this long gets to have it ? That’s a big failure from their part. And here in Europe it’s a lot worse cause it’s not just 20$ but 27 euros do have any idea how much is that ? It’s 35 $ and let me tell you something here in Greece the minimum pay is 280euro so if i want the deluxe now i have to buy 2000 gems which equals 27 euro which is a week of me working !!!! And someone that just bought the game gets the deluxe for free ???!?!?!?! WTF ?!?!? I’m so frustrated

P.S : Sorry for my Grammar mistakes .And i surely will keep supporting the game cause its awesome (i have made 10 friends of mine buy it) I just think that the offer is really bad for the ones that supported the game even before it was published …

Sorry for not being with you, but that’s not what I’m defending. Sales for games happen all the time. It’s a normal thing to attract new buyers and is pretty stupid to ak for the price difference every time the game goes on sale. I’m not asking valve to give me 7% of the release price of Portal 2 every time the game goes on sale for 75% off.

What I’m saying is that is not fair denying access to content to all your current customers. I’m not even asking for a free wizard hat, just a way to acquire it. Put it on store for 200 gems until Jan 7th and it will be fair for everyone. New customers will get it for free, old customers can get it for 200 gems and the hat will stay exclusive because it wont be sold after Jan 7th when the promotion ends.

Ok, lets look at it differently. Lets ignore all the pre-purchasers. They got some shinies they got time to play with the gem market they are the spoiled kids.

What about the current players who joined the game just a few days before the wizard promotion. They missed the betas, they missed the gw2 cap, they missed the hero’s band. No halloween costumes, no mad king tome backpiece, no free hats like devil horns and witch hat. They also had to pay 20$ extra for deluxe edition. They can’t get the wizard hat. Why? Because they have shinies from before the promotion? They don’t.

You got exclusive beta access, a 3 day head start, gem shop access before a viable economy developed… new players get a hat.

They don’t get the same opportunity that you had. It’s passed.

You don’t get a hat that is being offered to new comers. You made your choice to jump in earlier and not later. Or else you would get a hat.

Technically, nothing is stopping you from getting another account if you so desperately need that hat!

Though I hope you might take a bit of friendly advice:
You may need to step back from this game if a little piece of exclusive town clothing is getting you bent out of shape.

(Also, I shouldn’t tell you about that in game GW2 shirt you probably don’t have if you didn’t attend an Anet event at a ComicCon.

MOAR CONTENT CURRENT PLAYER THAT R BEIN EXCLOODED BURN ANET BUURN)

People who got in on the first opportunity that are complaining about a hat, are suffering some serious first world problems. Get. Over. It.

You look silly and make a grand fool of yourself complaining about such a trivial thing. Sober up and try again in the morning, maybe it’ll make sense then. Take it easy.

I said before about the convention exclusives. If you want to get one you go there and get one, or ask a friend to get you one, or buy a key from ebay. No one is going to stop you. If new players wanted to get the headstart bonuses they had the option to preorder. No one said: “Stop. You are not allowed to buy now. You will buy it later. The headstart bonuses are not for you.”

They didn’t got the headstart bonuses because they were not here. But I’m here, and perfectly capable of buying the hat. I’m just not allowed to.

And no, I can’t get the hat. If I buy a new account I’m basically a new player. There is no way to get it on my current account. I don’t need multiple accounts.

If the GW2 T-shirt was like the wizard hat promo that would be like going to gamescom, asking for a t-shirt key and being told to get lost because I have a game account already, even if I’m here at this convention I’m not allowed to get a shirt.

Okay so you just answered your own argument with the time thing. What is your point? You jumped in when you thought it was ideal. You got your due.

If it’s a matter of money, you could have waited for a discount or a promotion such as the one happening now. You made your choice.

You must now live with it.

It’s a piece of exclusive town clothing for new folks. Seriously. Get over it.

You got beta access, you had a three day head start, you were given access to the gem shop before the economy developed.

If you jumped in on that, you’re probably filthy rich right now. That’s borderline unfair. All that because you joined before live.

If you’re a GW1 player on top of this, Anet is outright spoiling you like a rich parent spoils their favorite child.

It’s just a hat. It’s a nice little trinket that is otherwise worthless, incentive for new folks to buy the game.

Let them have at least the scraps that fall from your table.

I joined GW1 in 2008 I missed all previous hats, lots of good farming time. Glitched weapons which sells were sold for a lot of gold in the original game(unconditional +15% damage, req7 max stat weapons), farming before loot scaling, etc. Do I deserve a special exclusive item which players who bought the game before 2008 cannot obtain? No. It was my choice to wait 3 years. All I got is a very cheap price for the game(I bought Prophecies GOTY and Factions for less than 5$ each).

They never excluded current players from game content and they never should.

As someone who purchased the DD before the games release, you were given exclusive beta access and a 3 day head start before anybody else.

Anet effectively let you cut in line.

New users are being offered a spiffy piece of town clothing, that has no bearing on the game beyond your appearance. It’s entirely cosmetic.

You got the better deal as a loyal and long time customer. If you’re a GW1 player, you got even more perks. Your argument is invalid.

Yes, early bird gets the worm. As a preorder player we got access to beta and other stuff. It was our choice to buy the game early and we got rewarded for that. No one was stopped from preordering the game, it was their choice to wait until after release.

We got exclusive bonuses for preordering, but we paid extra for that. We paid full price while current players get the digital edition for free. In 1-2 years people will buy it with 25-50% off. No one will stop you from buying the game and no one will force you to wait.

But in this case we, who bought the game early, have absolutely no option. We are willing to pay for the hat, we are not asking for a free hat, yet we don’t have the option to pay for it. We are being punished for buying the game too early.

1. Irrelevant. At the time of release, they where exclusive to Asia and not available anywhere else as there was no GOTY version at that time. If you want to argue about anything that eventually became available, we will need to wait 7 years and see if the hat eventually becomes available in GW2 as well.
2. Korea is in Asia. Current/new player is irrelevant. Exclusive is exclusive.

As I have said in another post, go to google or the search engine of your choice and do a search for “exclusive for new customers only”. This is a common marketing ploy. Nothing new as thousands of companies have been doing it for years.

Everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. If the devs follow the same course as they have in the past, the hat will be available by other means some time in the future. Then we can all enjoy all the posts from the players who are purchasing it now that it is no longer exclusive and it’s not fair. Mark my words and remember this last post, it will happen.

There is one thing giving an item to a small portion of your customers and another thing ignoring all of them and just looking for fresh meat. You want to say that there was no a single korean who played guild wars and they made the coca cola promotion to make them buy the game while ignoring every current customer?

I know “exclusive for new customers” is not a new thing and it happens all the time, but not giving ANY option to old customers to get the same final product?

Also about the coke promotion. That wasn’t a new account, it was a promotional serial key which could be applied to any account. As a collector you could find a friend in korea to get a key from you, you could buy a key from ebay, you had an option to make your collection complete. The same thing with the GW2 tshirt you could find a friend to get a t-shirt key for from gamescom or you could get to gamescom. Can you do that with the wizard hat? Can you buy the hat from a friend who just bought the game and is not interested in the hat? No.

look up the old coke items that where exclusive to Asia. Eventually, some of them became available in other ways, but there are still some skins that where never made available to anyone other then the original players who got in on that promotion. Could not be sold or traded as well, so absolutely no hope of a new player getting one. There are actually many others, but its late, and I don’t feel like feeding the trolls this early in the morning.

I know about the coke items.

1. Most of them share the same skin with the GOTY item.
2. Again they didn’t excluded ALL the current players. Some koreans got the coke items. Show me one GW2 player who bought the game before the wizard hat promotion who can get the hat. Is there anyone(excluding devs who probably can spawn any item)? No.

I understand that there are exclusive items. I’m fine with that. There are exclusive items in lots of games. But if this is GUILD WARS, then show me one hat or mini in the original GUILD WARS which was unobtainable by ANY of the current customers. Just one hat or mini. ONE.

Wish granted

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature_Island_Guardian

Almost nobody in the entire game can obtain one of these.

Also, http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature

Available awards depend on when the character was made. In other words, a new player (past year or so) will have to wait 7 years to get a chance at some of the miniatures, despite the fact that it is an old game, and may not even be online by then.

ANY. Any=/= some. I dont hate that an item is extremely limited. Did they said that the key for the Island Guardian mini can ONLY be applied to new accounts and is not going to work on ANY of the current account? No. The mini was extremely limited, but they didn’t excluded ALL of the current customers in that promotion. Most of them, but not ALL.

The closest you can get to this kind of promotion in the original Guild Wars is the release of Game of the Year Boxm which included some bonus weapons with unique skins.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars:_Game_of_the_Year_Edition

What do old customres get? Nothing, but they have this item in the game store:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Game_of_the_Year_Upgrade

That’s exactly what I’m asking. I’m not asking for freebies, just allow me to buy the hat for my current account and I’m fine.

There is one thing all of you complaining about not getting the hat are forgetting.

This is Guild Wars.

Guild Wars 1 or 2, it’s still the Guild Wars franchise.

Guild Wars has ALWAYS had exclusive in game items, 7 plus years of exclusive items.
Some available only to players living in specific countries, some only available to players purchasing specific magazines, players who attended real world events, players who purchased real world items, players who purchased specific expansions at specific times, players who subscribed to specific online mailing lists, the list goes on and on, and on. This has always been a part of the Guild Wars franchise and probably always will be. To be perfectly honest, if you do not like exclusive in game items, this may not be the game for you.

I am getting so sick and tired of players who come from other games and always use the excuse “this is how they did it in such and such a game, Anet should do this also”, well guess what? this is not the other games you have played, this is GUILD WARS and in Guild Wars, there are exclusive items.

Deal With It.

I understand that there are exclusive items. I’m fine with that. There are exclusive items in lots of games. But if this is GUILD WARS, then show me one hat or mini in the original GUILD WARS which was unobtainable by ANY of the current customers. Just one hat or mini. ONE.

To be fair I don’t really think that’s fine, either, and I sure hope extremely limited supply promotional items like this don’t come up again.

I do have a GW1 account, but I wasn’t much of a GW1 player (I hadn’t logged in since 2006 and did recently strictly because of HoM whoops), so I didn’t know about the existence of that mini. Thanks for the info. I would’ve been pretty miffed about my inability to get that item back then, too, ngl. But if it’s nothing new… well, I’ll probably be dropping my collector hat and getting only the items I think look cool from now on.

Honestly I’m not a big fan of “lotteries” to get promotional items, but even so they are better than excluding current customers completely.

One example(again from Team Fortress 2) is the Golden Wrench Promotion. Basically you had a very very small chance to get a goldern wrench(100 were given) by crafting something in TF2. I never got one, but at least then didn’t stopped me from trying my luck at the Golden Wrench.

The existence of this guy must be the bane of every “gotta catch ’em all” collector in this thread.

EDIT: I should elaborate, I guess. What I mean is that a promotional item you can’t buy but is given to people who happen to be in the right place at the right time is not a new thing for ANet and that’s fine. I have a baseball cap, someone else is going to have a wizard hat. Some Taiwanese guy who wasn’t one of the first fifty people to signup has an Island Guardian in GW1.

1. That mini was tradeable.
2. They didn’t excluded current players. Sure it was low chance to win the art contests, but they never said: “sorry, you are not allowed to enter the art contest.”

Lets compare this with …. WoW

You like Pets? You Want to collect every one of them?
Oh how about buying every new Blizzard product out there? Because we like to cross promote our games and give each person who Game X a new Pet. and the other way round.
Oh and did i mention Blizzcon???? You can get exclusive Items when you visit it. Nice thing for all Europeans. If you want to get it you’ll have too pay much €€€.

It boggles my mind how someone can feel entitled for every item in a game ever to be implemented.
Crosspromoting. Special Gifts for new Players … do you live under a rock or in a cave??? These things are pretty much a common thing in gaming.

Nothing new. Nothing scary.

You can go to blizzcon if you want no one is going to kick you out. You can buy cross promoted products no one is going to stop you. Will anyone say: “hey, you, you have the money? you want this pet? too bad. is not for you. we don’t want your money”? No.

And about crosspromoting. Let’s look at Valve and their hat madness from TF2. TF2 has a lot of crossgame promotion. In 2011 during QuakeCon, Fallout New Vegas had a special price on Steam. Not only that, but if you bought Fallout New Vegas during QuakeCon 2011 you would get a Fallout themed item in TF2. Fallout NV was released almost an year before QuakeCon. A lot of people were already owning Fallout NW on Steam. Did they had to buy it again just for a TF2 item? And if they already own the game can they buy it again? Well, that wasn’t a problem because everyone who bought the game during the promotion or before the promotion got their TF2 item. This is just one example. This thing happened with every game who has a TF2 promotion. Most of the time everyone who bought it before(or during) the promotion gets the item while those who will buy it after wont get it. Sometimes the item is given to everyone who owns the game even to those who buy the game now(like the Frying Pan from Left 4 Dead 2), but they never excluded old customers from promotions.

I cannot get the stuff before i bought the game no matter how much i would want it, i cannot get the stuff after i bought the game no matter how i want it.

In the first case no one stopped you from buying the game early. Did you came to ANet: “Hey, Anet, here is my money. I want to buy the game early to get all the shinies” and ANet goes: “No, you are not allowed to get the game early. You will get it later and miss all the shinies.” Did that happened? No. You were allowed, to get it, just not able.
In the 2nd case you are able to get the shinies. You have a clean account, no hacks no bans, and you are still playing. But you can’t get the shinies because they wont let you. Not on this account.

You gonna fight my cause then to allow me the privalage? no of course not you just want your thing and not worry about anyone else.

In 2008 I was plagin GW2. In October 2008 I missed the Lupine Mask on Halloween because I bought Nightfall in February 2009. Do I fight to allow myself to get the Lupine Mask? No. No one stopped me from getting Nightfall before October 2008. I was not able to, but no one stopped me.

No there is no difference cause it just may be that a person wanted to get the game early but was unable due to unforseen curcumstance but that means they loose out.

There is a difference in “not being able to” and “not being allowed to”. The former is fine, the person is allowed to get the game(no one will stop them), is not able due to finacial/weather/internet/whatever problems. The latter is not ok. We are able to give them money for the hat, but we are not allowed because we are already customers. Makes no sense.

And this is what new players get for buying the game now. So exactly what is the difference? You got exclusive items for buying the game when you bought it. So why can’t they have exclusive items for buying the game now?

Yes, it is called being selfish. You got your exclusive items because you bought the game when you did. Now they are getting an exclusive item for buying the game now, and you want it too. You don’t think they should get your exclusive items, cause those were your reward for purchasing the game early. But you think you should get their exclusive items anyways. That is the very definition of selfish. You want what they have, but you don’t want them to have what you have.

The difference?
If an item is exclusive to new players then old players are left out.
If an item is exclusive to current players(which is the case for most promotions) nobody is left out. New players are not left out because they aren’t even here.

I would be selfish if I’d ask to be able to get all items released before or after I bought the game no matter what and any new guy after me should not get anything. I neved demanded to have acces to items released before I joined the game.

Sharkinu.8096

Ah okay. Just checking then. So it’s completely okay for you to have exclusive items that new players cannot get, but it is not okay for them to have an exclusive item that you can’t get? Alright, gotcha. Just wanted to make sure it was for selfish reasons, and not an actual good reason.

That’s what you get for buying the game early. Nothing stops the new players from buying the game early. Selfish would be to ask them not to give the Deluxe Edition Upgrade for free to new players. Selfish would be to ask them to give me the hat for free. I don’t want free stuff. Just a way to acquire the hat.

It’s called a promotion. If they made the Wizard Hat available to all players, then what is the incentive for new players to even buy the game? You give them something exclusive that will make them unique and feel special cause current players don’t have it. If you gave it to everyone, then what is the point of having it in the first place? Or even offering it as an incentive in a new purchase? It would be pointless if everyone could just buy it for gems.

People who will buy the game after Jan 7th wont have the hat. It will be exclusive just for people who bought it before Jan 7th. “What’s the point in getting the Baseball Cap if anyone in the game could get it for free in the first week?” well people who joined the game after the first week don’t have the baseball cap. It’s the same thing.

What incentive they have to buy it now? Well, they get a free upgrade to deluxe edition and a hat which wont be available after Jan 7th.

Thus why it is a promotion for new players. But it seems people are selfish and can’t stand the fact that someone will have something they can’t have. But they are perfectly okay with having something that new players can’t have, but god forbid that new players have something they can’t have.

I joined GW1 in 2008. I missed the 2005,2006,2007 wintersday hats, the 2005,2006,2007 halloween hats, the 2008 Kamadan halloween hat(I bought nightfall in 2009), the tengu hat, and 2006,2007,2008 Dragon festival hats(bought factions in august 2008 after dragon festival). All those hats old players got before I bought the game, do I deserve them as a new player? No, because I wasn’t there. That’s what they get for buying the game before me.

But you aren’t locked out completely. You have the same opportunity as every other person to get the wizard’s hat…buy a copy of the game during the promo period.

If I buy the game on a new account I’m basically a new player. I dont need multiple accounts. If I want to make a collection of hats I don’t want them spread over a dozen of accounts.

If you buy a product at a store and they offer that very same product 4 months later at a cheaper price and with a promotional item to entice folks to buy it, you are not entitled to the cheaper price and promo item. And this is just like with any other promotion or sale. Buying a the game 4 months ago does not entitle you to receiving any promotional/sale items that ArenaNet offers for their sales now.

The promotional item would be sold separately. So I could buy just the promotional item. Again, I don’t ask for a free hat, being able to buy it is just enough.

No, I can already do that. That’s called buying a new account. I don’t want a wizard hat on a new account I just want a way to acquire it on my current account. That’s the point. You get in the game early to get the exclusive items. Those are the people who pay for collector’s edition and digital deluxe, those are the people who pay for limited time costumes and hats(like halloween costumes). I’m not asking to make the baseball cap available again just like I’m not asking to make the wizard hat available for people who will buy the game after Jan 7th.

They literally told people to get over it if you missed the event because one cannot play during the prime time.

There is a difference in being allowed to play, but not having the time and wanting to get the hat, but being told that I’m not allowed.

If you want to make an analogy that would be anet telling to those who can’t play during the prime time that the wont even be allowed to play even if they change their schedule. “Hey, ANet, the event starts at 4 AM for me, but I’m going to sleep early and wake up at 4 AM for event.” and ANet would say “Sorry, you can’t. We locked your account between 3AM and 8 AM. We wont let you get the karka chest.”

That’s what ANet is dong right now. I want to be able to buy the hat for 200 gems. Sorry we don’t want your gems.

Just put the hat in store for 200 gems and to keep it exclusive, remove it from store when the promotion ends and everyone would be happy.

If you want that Mistfire Wolf Elite you can get it for 2000 gems. As an old customer I don’t have an option to get the hat. Yes, even if I have the gems and want to pay for the wizard hat I cannot get it because I’m an old customer. See the difference?

Get over it your not going to get it, its just a hat you can upgrade your account in the gem store and get all the same stuff for $20. I think it’s great that new players get one unique item for buying the game, if it draws more players into the game. The more player in the game the better the game will get.

I’m pretty sure the promotion doesn’t work with the 2000 gems upgrade. Is just for brand new accounts. And even if it works, I already have Digital Deluxe. so I can’t upgrade.

And tell me one digital promotion which left ot current customers. I’m not talking about lowering prices. Sales happen all the time. I have no problem with people waiting to save money.

Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies

The comparation makes no sense. I go to the store to get a new box of Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies anyway because I ran out of Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies. My Current GW2 account is not hacked, banned or anything so I don’t need a new account. Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies are consumables, GW2 account is not.

Then if I still have Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies in my old box and buy the new box just for the toy I can’t play with the toy unless I eat Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies from the new box. I can’t just get the toy from the new box and keep eating from the old box.

Also the toy would be available for purchase separately from teh Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies box, for a smaller price than buying the Toasty Oaty Winky Dinkies box with the toy. But in GW2 even if you want to BUY it for your current account, you can’t.

People are not asking for a 20$ refund and I(and I’m sure I’m not the only one) don’t even ask for a free hat. I just want to have a chance at getting it. But no, if you’re not new you can’t have it at all, even if you want to buy it separately for 150-200 gems (which is the price for a townclothing hadpiece in the store) you can’t have it. So yes, I spent gems mostly on costumes and town clothes and I’m willing to pay for that hat too, but I can’t because they wont let me. I’m not new.

This is for new accounts.

Don’t forget, those who purchased previously had other opportunities: Beta access, Head-start access, digital items, the post-trial offer, event participation, etc. With each promotion there are different incentives.

This makes no sense. There are people who like to collect this kind of stuff, that’s why they started early, that’s why they spend gems on costumes and town clothes which are limited to specific events, that’s why they attend to event finales. Now you are restricting access to a collectible item to those who are probably most interested in it.

If someone is going to buy the game this winter is probably more excited for getting the Deluxe upgrade for free than getting one exclusive hat.

Normally it would be to give the hat to all current customers too and restrict it just for those who will buy the game after the promotion is over. But at least make it available in the gem store for 200 gems until the promotion is over. This way the new customers will get their free hat, old customers have a way to get it and the item will still be exclsive since it wont be available at all after the promotion ends.

If you want the fancy wizard hat, no one is stopping you from buying a second copy of the game.

I dont want a new account. I want the hat on my current account.

And the GW2 cap, that’s what you get for being an early customer, if you want to get all exclusive thing you better be there first or at least early. This promotion just ignore all current customers. As I said in different topics I don’t want a free hat, I just want a way to get the hat too on my current account. Put it in the store for 100-200 gems and I’ll be happy about it.

My client crashes a lot yet I still got my achievement. You still have 3 weeks left to complete 7 fractals. You get 3 for odd level run and 4 for even levels. You don’t need a full run for montly achievement. Still a fix to be able to rejoin is needed so I wont cripple my team if I crash, but the monthly achievement is easy to complete even in current state.

Yeah right on guys. It’s so not fair.

Just like my mobile phone company, the kittens always give the latest phones to new customers and I am still stuck with my kitteny old Nokia. How dare they not constantly supply me with the latest phone.

It’s a conspiracy I tell ya.

You can buy the same new phone if you want and keep the old phone number. If you want to use this analogy then in this case you can only use the new phones if you get a new phone number. I want to keep my old phone number and be able to get a new phone. I’m not asking for free phones.

Guys every single company does this
Oh you just got this game
puts on sale next day
sure you might have got it yesterday but not every person has…
It’s 1 item it’s not like they are giving them a free legendary
get over it…

Again, is not the price reduction people are upset. Is that one item that old players have no way to get it. The fact that is just a hat or that most people think that town clothes are pointless is irrelevant. Could be a mini, could be a weapon skin, could be an armor skin, making it unobtainable for old players is bad.

Show me one item from GW1 which was only obtainable by new customers. Show me one item in any game which was only obtainable by new customers while old customers are left out.

If the hat would be tradeable I wouldn’t complain, if it was on the gemstore I wouldn’t complain, all I want is a way to get it not free items.

If those platforms are not moving it will be just like Coddler’s Cove, a little bit frustrating, but not hard. If those platforms are moving or are on timer, then it will be more interesting. If they are on a timer I hope that those towers are “checkpoints” and you will respawn at the last touched checkpoint if you fall.

Most games lump in DLCs, or come out with a Special Edition or Game of The Year version.

Which is aslo available to older players too, if not for free they can buy the upgrade. Now how do you get the hat as an older player?

These hats are also similar, not identical. If it was identical it would be called Witch Hat not Wizard Hat.

Same with GW1.

GW1 had the 1 milion edition/GOTY which added a couple of promotional weapons to your account. What about olders players? Not a problem, since they could buy the upgrade from the ingame store for 5€. Later they added the Summoning Stone for all digital editions of the game. What about older players? Again they could buy the upgrade which added the stone from the ingame store for 5€.

Now tell me how can I get the hat as a veteran player?

The next day, or the next week, whatever, you walk past the same shop and see that they are now doing a 20% off sale, and/or that the Xbox is now being sold with an extra game(which is not available at all for current xbox users unless they buy a new box and they can play it only on the new box) as part of a special package.

Fixed it for you. See the difference and why people are complaining?

I don’t see what all the fuss is about.

This is like every other game ever. Latecomers get things like DLC and special items thrown in. It drives up sales. You could have waited to buy it, and gotten a better deal. Just like Guild Wars 1 costed about $150 if you bought the game and each expansion as they came out, but now only costs $20. Or how so many other MMOs throw in pets or mounts or whatever if you buy a new copy.

Besides, the hat’ll probably show up on the gem store in a month or so.

Is not the special price people are complaining about, we had no problem with the same special deal newcomers got during the Lost Shore weekend. Is the exclusive hat which angered the people. Sure, is just a stupid hat, but making it unobtainable for “early birds” is just stupid. For a collector of exclusive items this is just a nightmare. You can’t get the hat unless youre a newcomer but then you don’ have the previeous things, because they are on a different account.
