Endless Halloween tonic still not sellable

in Black Lion Trading Co

Sharkinu.8096

I think the reason those tonics are not sellable is because they are used. An endless tonics becomes account bound after first use. You can test that with the Warm/hard/Charged/Cold Potions. If you get one as a drop from the Orrian boxes you can sell it to tradepost. Once you used it once, the option to sell it on tradepost is not available anymore.

Guesting and Overflow [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sharkinu.8096

Sharkinu.8096

The problem is not with the guesting is with the waiting times. Before the patch the chest was lootable more than once a day, so a 3 hours wait time between events made sense. Now when the chest can only be open once a day per character the waiting time are only putting extra pressure on the event maps every 3 hours. There are no lag or overflow problems at the Frozen Maw or Fire Elemental because they repeat every 30 minutes. If the waiting time between the end of a dragon event and the start of the chain would be something like 30 minutes this would help spread the population enough to avoid overflows and would make guesting unnecessary.

Guesting is out of control.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sharkinu.8096

Sharkinu.8096

Is not just Gandara or Tarnished Coast or some other server. Most servers have overflow on all 3 dragon events and Shadow Behemoth. people are too lazy/impacient to wait for the event to spawn on their home server so they check the dragon timer websites and guest on a server where th event is just about to spawn.

Since the event chest can be looted only once a day per character that means the 3 hours waiting time to stop the farmers is unnecessary. They should lower the waiting time for those events to something like 1 hour. 3 hours is too much. Frozen Maw and Fire elemental don’t have overflow servers because they reset every 30-45 minutes.

Making the dragon events spawn more often would help spread the population a little bit so the event would have less lag and less people at the same time, therefore no overflow.

I really don’t need to know where “Commander McLook At Me” is doing his PvE activities. Make it only visible for your squad members in PvE and visible for everyone in WvW. The reward has nothing to do with jumping puzzles. At the end of most jumping puzzle there is a chest(Chest, Grand Chest, Splendid Chest etc.) Those chest can also spawn at the end of a dynamic event or after killing a boss and most likely they have the same loot tables. It rarely happens, but yes, you can get exotics from chests(even those simply labeled “Chest”) and people reported getting precursors too.

Go to Southsun Cove and start collecting passiflora nodes. Make sure you collect more than 10 nodes. Go to a different map and return to Southsun after a few hours. Now all nodes should be back. If you start to gather them again, after you get your 15th node all other passiflora nodes will disappear. Is easy to notice because the passiflora nodes are usually close to each other.

If you don’t play on a server with high WvW population(so there is no queue for your home borderland) then best option would be to hit B and travel to your home borderland. Just where you spawn there is the Trade Post NPC in the left, crafting stations in the right. The crafting stations can be used to access the bank, the master crafters NPCs can be used to sell the loot and buy more salvage kits and to go back to PvE all you need to do is to go to character selection screen and login back to your character. You will spawn on your previous map just where you left. Waypoint cost: 0 copper.

Bonus: if your server owns the central keep on your borderland(unless your server is getting dominated this should be always true) then you can also gain quick access to mystic forge and guild bank.

Why Hate on RNG?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sharkinu.8096

Sharkinu.8096

yea, this is a major problem, while GW had tons of ways to progress, various armors, skill hunting, challenge missions, improving campaign specific buffs, fighting endgame dungeons for skins, GW2 has one, and its primarily determined by rng. game needs more goals, on the high end, that have something rewarding (heck bring back skill hunting if anet wants the economy and gold earnings to be crappy forever)

There are various ways to progress in GW2 too. Just because people are only looking at the legendary weapons that doesn’t mean that’s the only way to progress. Various armors? 3 cultural sets, 3 order sets, crafted skins, karma armor skin and the named exotic sets. I don’t think we’re lacking armor skins. Skill hunting? Skill point challenges work the same way. You don’t go to a specific corner of the map to kill a boss to capture its elite skill, but you got to a specific corner of the map to kill a boss to capture a skill point. Challenge missions? I never actually did most of them, but if you want something equivalent there is keg brawl which is similar. Doing dungeons for skins? You can do the same thing in GW2 you can get unique skins with tokens. If you’re looking for more special skins there are the mystic forge exotics and if you say that the RNG for lodestones is bad, the RNG for weapon skins from end chest in GW1 dungeons was just as bad.

Why Hate on RNG?

Sharkinu.8096

Here is an example of MY issue with RNG. Party of 4, playing together for a few hours.
Participant #1, wow! this is awesome! I netted 6 rares, 10 greens!
Patricipant #2 wow! this is terrible! I only netted 1 green!
Particpant #3 I did okay with 1 rare and 4 greens
Particpant #4 I did pretty well with 3 rare and 2 greens

Most people expect a certain amount of reward for their effort and when they don’t receive it, they feel like they were taken advantage.

If they feel they do not receive enough of a reward to justify their participation, then they stop playing the game.

The thing is that most people only remember the bad moments. They always remember that dungeon run when everyone else got 2-3 rares and they only ended up with 3 greens, or when they farmed for 2 hours and never got a single rare, or when they opened the dragon chest and only received blues. But they will quickly forget when they got an exotic from that chest guarded by a champion which they never killed, just dodged and run away, or when they got 5 mystic clovers from 6 attempts, or when they salvaged 8 ectos from 3 rares, or getting 2 rares from 6 monsters 5 minutes after login. The RNG is not as bad as some people think, they hate it because they only remember the moments when the “RNG odds” worked against them.

Something I miss from GW1.

rearranging the skills on your bar

I’d love to have this in GW2. For example I used for a long time greatsword and longbow as a ranger. 4th greatsword skill is a blocking skill and 4th longbow skill is a knock back skill. So I started using them as a backup skill to avoid some dangerous incoming damage(by blocking it with the GS or by interrupting itwith the LB). An equivalent skill for shortbow would be the 3rd skill which makes an evasive move backwards. I’d love to be able to move the 3rd skill from shortbow on the 4th slot.

Legendary Armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sharkinu.8096

Sharkinu.8096

I’d make a vendor for it and a token based system. You don’t craft the armor you craft the token. There would be 15 different token recipes(3 armor types * 5 races). The token would be tradeable just like current legendary weapons.

If you craft a token or you buy one from the tradepost you can talk with a vendor and get your 6+1(I’d include the backpack too) legendary set.

Why a vendor and not actually crafting the armor? Because there are different players with different preferences. For example, I don’t really want a legendary medium armor which is another trench coat while some other guy would like that. Using the token I’d get to make my legendary armor the way I want it to look by choosing from something like 3 different versions of the same armor piece and maybe some pieces with different particle effects. SO for the above example if I have a Norn Medium armor token, I can choose from multiple version of medium norn head pieces(hood, mask, goggles, etc), multiple version of medium norn chest pieces(trench coat, vest, etc.) and after I picked one of each armor piece from the list I can click trade and get one full version of my legendary armor.

The hate for RNG doesn’t really make sense. People are acting like this is a new concept, but this was a thing since the first RPG ever. Mini Polar Bear in GW1 was a RNG game, every rare loot in GW1, like Dryad Bow and Frog Scepter was a RNG game. Diablo was full of RNG. I don’t see how GW2 is different.

Ranger laurel box giving non-ranger gear [Merged]

Sharkinu.8096

Thank you for the reports, everyone; the designers are working on a fix for this issue. In the meantime, if you’re planning on buying the laurel box, we’d recommend that you wait for now. Sorry for the bug!

The only answer is to not buy them? What about a refund to the poor players? This is 5 days of work to land the box..

Even if the player who received items they cant use will get a refund, he can’t say that, because it will cause a new wave of player only getting the box in hope of getting an extra box a refund after the patch is fixed.

A few months ago there was a bug which caused the black lion chest to give fewer items than intended(2 instead of 3, or something like that). After they fixed the bug, players affected by this bug received via in-game mail a certain amount of unlocked black lion chests. I received one of those chests too so I’m pretty sure if someone received items they can’t use will get something to compensate that after the patch is fixed.

The broom should be account bound so you should be able to use it on a different character by placing it in your bank(the bank being shared between characters).

Not sure about Quaggan backpack. Is possible that the white backpack piece you get with the quaggan is account bound, but if you use it on a different type of backpack then it will be soulbound so you wont be able to use it on a different character.

The update was between 2 – 9am my time, during a weekday, reset is 11am my time. I don’t agree with you that everybody had that chance.

You’re contradicting yourself. You just said in the first post that people who completed dailies early are penalized for not getting a laurel. I just told you is not true because the daily achievement were reseted for everyone when the patch arrived so everyone was able to complete the daily again for a laurel. The fact that you didn’t have time to login and complete the daily again during the 3 hours window between the patch and the daily reset has nothing to do with completing dailies before or after the patch.

Inventory Icon bug list

Sharkinu.8096

There is another issue with the Citadel of Flame medium armor. The icons for the chest piece and shoulders are not actually wrong, but more like…outdated.

By looking at the inventory icons I’d say that most likely at some point during game development the chest piece had no flaming particle effects and the flames from the current chest piece were actually part of the old shoulders piece for that armor. Probably due to major clipping issues with other chest pieces from different armors, the CoF chest piece ended up being the old chest piece merged with the shoulders piece and the CoF shoulders piece got a new model.

One ArenaNet employee said on reddit that a central place where we could post information about inventory icon anomalies would be really helpful and would help in fixing them.

So I’d ask other players to pot here any inventory icons related issues you have noticed in game.

Things I’ve noticed:

  • Inquest Helm(Crucible of Eternity dungeon armor) for medium armor is using the icon of Furnace Reward Helm(Sorrow’s Embrace dungeon armor) for medium armor.
  • Inquest Weapons(Crucible of Eternity) inventory icons should be added to Dark Asuran Weapons(Sorrow’s Embrace). The latter have mostly stock icons.
  • Twilight Armor weapons: Nightmare Harpoon, Nightmare Trident, Nightmare Greatsword don’t have unique icons like the other nightmare weapons.
  • Arah weapons have stock icons.
  • Medium Norn Tier 2 armor(Predatory) is using icons from Medium Norn Tier 1 armor(Wolfborn).
  • All heavy and light Norn Cultural sets are using the same stock icons.
  • Lionguard weapons from all tiers are using the icons from Norn Tier 3 cultural weapons.
  • Wolfborn harpoon(Norn Tier 3 cultural weapon) does not have unique icon like all other Wolfborn weapons.
  • Norn tier 1 and tier 2 cultural weapons are using stock icons.
  • Ebon Vanguard Greatsword and Speargun are using stock icons for all 3 tiers.
  • Charr Cultural Tier 3 weapons are using icons from Charr Cultural Tier 1
  • Carrion Flame weapons(Charr Tier 2 cultural): Trident icon is completely different; speargun and spear have stock icons.
  • Ravaging Steam Weapons(Charr Tier 1 cultural): Spear has stock icon; Rifle/Speargun and Staff/Trident have the same icon, but they also have the same weapon model so it’s probably not a bug.

why do people hate magic find?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sharkinu.8096

You have no argument to make me support MF, because it gives me nothing if you wear it.

So if I wear Cleric(healing, power, toughness) an only use self heal skills(no party wide heals) I’m more helpful than a magic find guy? How? I’m doing less damage than a guy with explorer due to lack of precision and the only thing I’m doing better is tanking. Yet no amount of toughness and vitality would make someone survive a 1 shot kill hit from a boss. Doing less damage means I’m slowing down my party even more than a magic find guy, yet people hate them more.

Removing magic find wont solve anything. People will then say: you have too much toughness and vitality. Get a berserker gear and learn to dodge because otherwise you’re slowing us down.
