Works best for me so far:
Runes of the Daredevil – Get a 100% crit after your dodgeroll.
You can do neat things like:
Black Powder – Dodge – Steal/Infiltrator – Backstab.
Bound really helps with saving initiative and keeping your dmg modifier from trickery high.
Similar stuff with Vault.
You have a ton of interupts that deal 2k+ dmg thanks to pulmonary effect.
If you are having a hard time with conditions just switch over to escapists absolution.
Hits really really hard.
Try it out and have fun!

Works really good with Sword/pistol too.
Just tried it aswell.
You get nice healing out of number three while interupting the enemy.
So i was playing around with Daredevil all weekend.
Wasn´t that impressive at first … but then it hit me.
!!! Impacting Disrubtion – Pulmonary Impact !!!
This trait is so good (high base dmg).
Dagger/Pistol – Sigil of force (5% more dmg) Sigil of Accuracy (7%crit)
Shortbow – Whatever you like
Revealed training – 200 power extra while revealed
Evasive empowerment – 10% more dmg after dodging
Executioner – 20% more dmg under 50% enemy health
Exposed Weakness – 10% more dmg if the target has a condition.

Thief is not going to vanish (haha) in pvp.
Still good with D/P and Shortbow. Just not much room for error.
Mess up and you die in a second.
Our survivability isn´t the best. Not really suited for sustained fights.
But we can do fast spikes, rip stability, have pretty good rezzes and we have superior mobility.
Build diversity would be nice but well i think that has to wait. Daredevil and Staff seems like they won´t give us that option.

I know what staff does. All good. ^^
But i still don´t see it on par with D/P.
What does it excel at? Why should i want it?
Evasive Combat? I go S/D. Getting a port, condi cleanse, access to stealth+daze, boon rip and ranged cripple.
Damage and control? I go D/P. Getting a blind field + a ranged blind, two gap closers, access to stealth and an interupt on demand.
I don´t see it. I don´t want to play staff at all right now. And i am a huge fan of stick fighting. Was practicing it myself for years.

Couldn´t make Staff work against decent opponents.
If anyone has found a way to make it work, i am listening.
What works best for me so far is
DA-TR-DD with Shortbow and Dagger/Pistol
The damage from pulmonary impact is really good.

The concept of daredevil is really nice.
Don´t bash on Karl constantly.
There are just a few things that need to be done to make the daredevil work perfectly fine.

Still not there.
Staff and Daredevil need a lot more work than just increasing damage or lowering cast times.
You can put traits in there like e.g. :
10% of your toughness and vitality is converted to precision and ferocity while you are not stealthed or revealed.
Would open up the option to play the daredevil with Soldiers Amulet and give it the close combat staying power it doesn´t have at the moment.
*There are a lot more great suggestions in various threads.
Please Arenanet don´t deliver something half baked to your customers.
We all know how awesome stuff you can do. So please give us this OH MY GOD – SO AMAZING feeling again.

Hmmm, anet is still quiet as a mouse.
I think the community would really appreciate it if they just share their oppinion on the topic.
The community showed big interest and provided a lot of feedback. They spent hours of their time to find bugs for you.
Would be really nice if someone of the company could in exchange spend 5 minutes of their time and tell us about your plans.

Don´t be so negative buddies, by the amount of views the daredevil feedback thread got it should be clear for the developers that there is a lot of interest in the new specialization of the thief.
I think they will do there best to improve the profession with the feedback they got from the community.

Actually i wouldn´t give a smoke field to staff.
I would love to see a dark field ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dark_field)
on Dust Strike ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dust_Strike).
It would increase the close combat survivability. You can combo it with leap or blast finishers to apply blinds or use whirl or projectile finishers for life leech.
That would be a step in the right direction to give the weapon set more staying power and differentiate it from other weapon sets.

So i thought about the daredevil again:

e.g.:
Unhindered Combatant gives “one stack of stability” if you trait for it.
Bounding Dodger applies 5 stacks of vulnerability on impact.
Lotus Training gives you 1 second of resistance aswell.
Last but not least:
Definitely a lot of finetuning needed for the specialisation and the new weapon.

Driven Fortitude trait (gain health when you successfully evade an attack) is not working at all – was checking combat log and I was never healed on evade.
Imparing Daggers skill uses one initiative for each dagger thrown (3 in total). If you don’t have any initiative, you won’t be able to use this skill. If you have say 1 initiative, only 1 dagger will be thrown.
Can’t use Steal during Vault animation.
Yes tried that all aswell. Try to dodge out of Staff Skill Nr.2 or right after it. Doesn´t work. ^^

Imagine Lotus Training/Unhindered Combatant/Bounding Dodger like the attunement of an elementalist.
You would be able to change them during combat.
You can give them a cooldown or let them eat a bit of your endurance when you switch between them.

Yeah the staff auto attack spin looks pretty silly. ^^
The animation from revenant is better but still far away from
an efficient attack spin. What they do is just show.
You have no strength or control when you spin the staff with one hand.
You can put your hand in between the spinning staff and it would not hurt you and just fall out of the wielders hand.

As it looks like we will not be bound to shortbow for good mobility anymore.
Everything looks really promising so far.

Acrobatics – Movement performed with remarkable agility and ease.
So in my oppinion stuff like:
Regeneration, Freedom of movement, Stability, Inititative and Endurance Regeneration
would fit the traitline.
What else comes to your mind when you think about acrobatic?

I think poison fits really well into the deadly arts line.
In fact they did a really good job on the deadly arts traitline when you look at it that way.

As i see it, the deadly arts traitline is about traps, poison
and enhancing your non critical damage.
Critical Strikes about signets and enhancing your critical damage.
Shadow Arts is all about stealth and venoms.
Acrobatics about mobility and well timed evades.
And last but not least Trickery … Dirty Fighting, Tricks and Initiative.
I think the developers have a vision for every traitline and we should try to improve them within those given borders.
Turning everything upside down is most likely not something they will do.

The mood in the thief forum seems to be pretty bad lately.
Yes the build diversity is pretty non existant and the other classes got a lot of nice new shiny toys.
But cheer up! I am sure the sky isn´t falling. The developers will try their best to get some fresh air into our class. They are just super busy.
So lets stay constructive and provide feedback and ideas of how the thief class could be advanced, brought in line etc.
I took the time and went over our current traitlines. Reworked some traits with the idea of build diversity and fitting the theme of the traitline in mind.
Before you start to read through the attachments. Open Youtube and get into the right mood for the different traitlines.
As an example:
Deadly Arts: Poison – Alice Cooper
Critical Strikes: Rock you like a hurricane – Scorpions
Shadow Arts: Shadows – Lindsey Stirling
Acrobatics: Kungfu fighting – Carl Douglas
Trickery: Its Tricky- RUN DMC
I hope you find some of my ideas interesting and can already find some possible builds.

Changing from optimal runes, sigils, traits and utilities just to come a little bit closer to former dodge uptime isn’t the solution we need as that creates a whole new set of problems.
1. Pack runes needed to supplement both power and precision
2. Air / fire runes make up a huge part of damage, what would you do, run double s/d with energy sigils on each? theres a reason nobody plays jumper spec anymore.
3. Was already using signet of agility
4. Hard to catch competes with swindler’s equilibrium — a must have if an s/d thief decided to trait acrobatics
5. Was already using withdraw ( most builds do now a days, even DP )
6. Roll for initiative would take the slot of either shadow refuge or shadow step, both crucial for survivability
7. Trickster? No sane person is going to give up bountiful theft, the only stability and aegis prioritizing boon rip for a 3 second shorter withdraw cooldown and additional 1 condi cleanse.Thanks but no thanks. No offense — I’m sure that’d work just fine for trolling in obsidian sanctum or something but it’s not going to stand up to level it needs to in any competitive field.
Define optimal runes and sigils.
last meta “optimal” was a combination of runes and sigils based off past build choices.
From the moment the patch roled out, everything we know about “optimal” are just questions in the air.

How did you come to the conclusion that thieves in general are too strong?
What happened to you?
Are you talking about the whole profession or a specific spec?
I often hear people complaining about thieves, most of the time the frustration arise from getting +1 by a thief.
e.g. : you are fighting someone … fight looks good for you … enemy thief comes in and spikes you … “ah that op thief killed me” … in fact you had a two versus one and the thief was able to kill you that quick because your other opponent softened you up during the fight … forced cooldowns etc.
I don´t find thieves that strong in 1v1 situations. They excel in mobility and quick burst.
And yes shatter mesmer has a hard time against thieves, but not mesmer in general.

I made the important part of improvisation bold for you.
Stealing recharges all skills of one type (venoms, signets, traps, tricks, or deceptions). Deal bonus damage when wielding a bundle.
Damage Damage Increase: 10%
The standard D/P Panic Strike Build uses this utilities:
Infiltrators Signet (Signet)
Shadow Refuge ( Deception)
Shadowstep (Deception)
Basilisk Venom (Venom)
You have three different categories of utilities equipped so the chance is quite high that it resets one of those utilities.
I take this trait anytime over a flat 5% damage increase on daggers.

Hello everybody!
I watched Chaith yesterday on twitch.
He had like 10 minutes + queue times.
We can´t leave the mists anymore to do something else while waiting for a match.
This makes the pvp rewards really bad compared to pve.
Is it possible to implement a stacking buff for every minute in the queue that gives you more reward track progress after the match ends?
E.g. :
For every minute in the queue you get a 10% bonus to your reward track progress.
Gets reset when you leave the queue or finish a match.
We have nothing to do in the mists. Would be awesome to get a little compensation.
What do you think about this idea?
