Time to reroll. I played BWE3 this weekend and DD was completely underwhelming. Staff doesn’t make any sense, clunky or straight up absurd animations and very low utility compared to what other people are getting.

I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent playing Reaper (necro e-spec) and Revenant, so I will be rerolling to one of them come expansion time.

The lack of imagination and effort that went into the daredevil spec and the thief in general is truly depressing. I’m not going to enjoy saying goodbye to my thief, but playing a class that has devs that refuse to make beneficial changes doesn’t make any sense.

We had our chance to give feedback for the past 3 BWE’s and it fell largely on deaf ears.

Our Dev ignored 97% of our feedback for DD. I am still waiting for them to make some changes to normal thief class.

I watched some bwe3 videos. The only thing that got my attention was the dash skill.

This is why need dash on F3, I don’t want to take the DD trait just for the dash skill but I would like to use the dash skill. I think that is the best skill we got out of this.

Or please add the extra 3 initiative on the baseline.

I am not convinced enough to buy HOT. I am waiting for dev’s to fix the thief class and I will buy HOT. Don’t really care about DD. I think it’s worthless until they fix the basic needs of thief class.

Unload: Increased damage per shot by 26%.
Sneak Attack: Increased attack damage per shot by 25%.

Seriously? It’s not like thiefs lacked damage that they can throw on you in milliseconds whilst their venom has you immobilised, you had to increase their damage by a HUGE 25%.

Whatever happened to balancing things slowly, testing it, and moving it slowly up or down.

I’ve been hit by unload for over 1.2k a hot (times 8 isn’t it?), now that will be over 12k while rooted and unable to respond, followed no doubt by another 3-4 10k hits before I get to move.

If anyone needs me I’ll be on my venom thief insta-downing people in wvw with 2k toughness…

FYI the damage increases weren’t part of a re-work of pistols or anything (something I’ve discussed in the past). We realize it still needs some work to get it to where we want, but we wanted to get it closer to being to that point with these changes. We’ll be looking at pistols more in-depth in the future.

I just returned from San Francisco and am going to crash hard from the busy weekend at Twitch Con very soon, but first I wanted to clarify something:

During the skill balance stream on Friday we weren’t able to go into depth or even talk about the reasons and expected results for changes we did reach due to time constraints[sub]1[/sub]. Because the June 23rd patch was mentioned during the stream many people seem to expect a patch of that size and magnitude.

This coming patch is NOT that big.

Tuesday’s patch will have those changes we discussed in the livestream, some bugfixes, and more, but it is a step in the right direction. It is not the end-all.

I think it’s because we have not heard any official response from Dev stating that they are going to do any improvements on thief class. I am not talking about elite specialization.

Since DD is an elite specilization it should be a 4th trait. I am not happy that we are losing SA/Acro to get DD.

I would agree with thief being the burst class. We should do more damage on tanks.

• In the first, you see what it looks like when you have a dodge selected
• In the second, you see what it looks like while selecting a dodge

This needs to be baseline for Daredevil so that we have the same access to Tier 3 Grandmaster Traits as all of the other elite specializations.

It is idiotic to think that thieves are allowed to use only one playstyle per patch. Also even from a marketing point of view, destroying one class customization for giving visibility to the new shiny spec, forcing everyone to buy and using it, is not a good move. A lot of people I know that are all veterans with 3 years of gw2 experience are not even going to buy the expansion till there will be good balance, matchmaking and a working soloQ. So forcing this people out of the game is not good for the pvp community that is still suffering in numbers

Finally, the infamous OP came up with something completely reasonable. So with that sir, I completely back you up on this. Keep the faith, be patient.

When did Anet say they will have a balance path for Elites & Core specs? That is the real question.

They’re bringing out new variations and tweeks of the DD with the next BWE for more testing… So then I’d assume. However, they have said nothing in regards to core specs.

Lets be real. When HoT lands, Thief will most likely get looked at and hopefully receive the correct buffs it needs. My only concerns are: If they buff the wrong stuff and “balance” the buff by nerfing the right stuff and if they’ll give any substantialbuffs at all. We got very little in the June Trait changes patch, lets hope for more this time around.
