My asura used to give her all when auto-attacking with axe 1. Nowadays she’s just listless. Please bring back the jump animation!
If you’re doing pve, don’t forget that you can sell all your junk and unwanted items at every heart vendor after you’ve done the heart. If you do that consistently, you can keep your inventory relatively empty.
Or sit on a norn’s shoulders!
Yeah, I was hoping that they’d continue the GW1 tradition of random minis as birthday presents too.
I think SkyFallsInThunder forgot to mention that you have to be in the secret cat cave to activate it.
Same here.
Slightly reduced, but we all know where this ends again -.-
Aww, tomorrow might be our lucky day, you never know!
I don’t really care if its removed from “world completion” or not. Everyone has their preference. I just hope I can get the transmutation thingie when I complete the maps still as it’s pretty much the only maps I get 100% on these days.
You won’t get anything for completing wvw maps from now on, the rewards have been removed.
I have all the map completion I need at this time, but I am glad this is finally changed. How people of any side can be against this I do not understand, this brings only advantages. People who do not like WvW do not have to enter it in order to get a reward they intend to use outside of WvW, and people who like WvW do not have to deal with map completers filling up maps while not contributing to the efforts going on. I honestly doubt map completing made many people WvW who would not otherwise have realised they liked this game mode sooner or later.
There are map completers who decide to help out when they get there and sometimes they end up becoming wvwers, as I and others have already said in this thread. Without map completion, I’d never have set a foot in those maps back then. Many of the wvw dailies don’t require any cooperation (“kill a sentry”, “cap a camp”, etc), which means that there is the possibility for pve players to complete dailies without ever getting into wvw proper. With regards to map completion, you had a higher chance of success when joining a group rather than running on your own, so it encouraged you to cooperate with your team mates.
With the new daily structure, the incentive to go to WvW is much gentler, rather than a “no dessert unless you finish your WvWegetables,” which could mean a lot less resentment.
I could be wrong about this, but it also seems that WvW dailies encourage people to accomplish generally useful WvW goals. By comparison, world completion in WvW maps only required people to run to points of interest and get the hell out before the tower flipped again and they were killed by another server. And that behaviour doesn’t seem especially helpful, honestly.
Not necessarily – sometimes people don’t defend camps just so they can cap them back later for their daily, which isn’t all that helpful either.
As someone who initially only went to wvw for map completion and who now spends probably 90% of their time in wvw, I am a little sad that there is now one incentive less for people to try wvw.
One trick that helps is to use the WvW borderlands. Wherever your character may be, he can travel to the borderland for your server, use the services there, and return right to the same spot in the open world upon leaving the Mists. Services include merchants, trader, and all crafting stations. Any crafting station can be used as a bank even if your character does not know any crafting disciplines.
In my opinion it’s better to use the pvp lobby for this, because you being on the border without participating could be a disadvantage for your server – e.g. your team might not get the outnumbered buff because there are too many people at the crafting stations. The only thing that is not available in the pvp lobby are crafting stations, but if you need to access your bank or a merchant, it’s a viable option.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I really like this proposal. It would be great if anet could implement these changes.
Some of the unlocks got changed in this patch. Small steps! Fewer personal story unlocks.
Only downside is Source of Orr is still a Grandmaster unlock, and now it’s a REAL slog-fest to get there with no other rewards before it.
These changes are actually worse. Now you’ll have to do three extra things for traits (two events + opening one chest) and still do the personal story to get the other traits.
Meanwhile, the Branded Devourer Queen event chain, which I haven’t been able to do because it always seems to be stuck in a bugged pre-event, is still required for a trait.
I don’t mind losing, but playing against the same two servers for weeks and weeks and weeks with no end in sight is just boring. Take a look at the match-up history, Anet, and manually adjust as needed for the next reset, so servers don’t always have to face the same enemies.
Cities were where guildies gathered and wouldn’t get stuck in overflows. It’s where we did stupid stuff like costume brawls, events, recruited, and would see your servermates etc. It was one of the identities of a server and allowed you to get the word across about the server ts and site etc to players who wouldn’t otherwise know from WvW. That said, this whole megaserver update, especially in cities, shoots all those things down.
Exactly! Cities shouldn’t be megaserver maps.
Separating the players by language would not work very well, as some languages may have much less players in a map.
There are enough German and French servers, they should be able to populate a map nicely. As for the Spanish server, I think they should be given the choice to pick one of the already existing maps or to go to their own, possibly not well-populated map.
As it is now, the maps are filled with people who can’t even read what you type in chat, thanks to the auto-enabled chat language option. It’s ridiculous. How are you supposed to play with people when things are like that?
And the cities shouldn’t be megaservers at all, for the sake of the server communities and wvw.
That list could use another update, as there are definitely maps missing. I was on Harathi Hinterlands yesterday and it was a megaserver zergfest with lots of people from French servers and some from the Spanish one (I’m from an international server).
Short update: it happens to me every single time I waypoint between borders.
This keeps happening to me too. I hope it gets fixed soon as it obviously has an impact on a player’s ability to defend objectives.
This has been the best match-up thread since I started playing wvw. Thanks all!
I recomend ur next expansion to be The Madness of Josh: Jumping Puzzles. Make a whole continent only with jumping puzzles.
Haha, I’d be so there for that.
It took me about 4-5 hours to finish the JP, and I thought I’d never do it again, but the next day I went back and did it with my four other chars. I had fun with it, thanks!
I tried the quest for a second time, and this time I was able to finish it. I don’t know what I did differently (apart from being less incompetent while fighting the risen ), but I did try to talk to Gixx while still lying on the ground. The pre-fight Gixx talk window popped open, but the cutscene was triggered as well. I killed the boss pretty much where it spawned.
Same problem here. Enemies dead but Gixx still talking abot the idol and the Priory and such.
Same thing happened to me right now as well.
