Also their metrics already told them fridays had lower participation in wvw, so the change they’ve made for reset on saturday instead has been backed up by this thread!

That’s not really what they said. They didn’t specify that they were talking about wvw participation – I think they were talking about general numbers, so e.g. players who only play pve were included, too. My interpretation of what they said is: “More people log in on Saturdays than on Fridays, so we’ll change the reset to Saturday so that more people can enjoy it.”

Here’s a link to the post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/WvW-and-the-Heart-of-Thorns-Release/page/6#post5614578

Now I don’t really know why they thought that pve/pvp players would suddenly know that reset is happening while they are online on Saturday evening and rush to join it – because let’s face it, if you don’t care about a game mode you won’t read the news about it and you won’t know when things reset there.

In the end I guess it doesn’t really matter, though, as it wasn’t the primary reason for the reset change anyway.

Im not so good at english are anet saying that they will put autoloot in wvw? otherwise its just proof that they just focus on pve

Here’s the relevant Dev quote:

We are looking at adding a way for players to earn Quickloot in WvW as well. We wanted to keep PvE progression (Masteries) separate from WvW progression (Ability Lines). However this means when a new Mastery ability is created, that might also be useful in another gamemode, it doesn’t automatically crossover.

GW2 is No Longer a Refuge :(

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

They could base it on the max guild roster size. You know the guy you gotta pay to increase your guild member cap? That. If your are a first level guild with the lowest member cap your upgrades are cheaper. The higher your member cap the more you pay.

Exactly! And if you increase your roster size, you’ll have to pay the materials/gold needed to move from e.g. Tavern Restoration 1 for guild size 1 to Tavern Restoration 1 for guild size 2. That way, people can’t kick their members, upgrade their guilds for cheap and invite everyone back – they’ll have to pay the materials needed for their guild size.

It would have been fairly easy to create this system but instead anet decided to kitten over small guilds. Hopefully this was just due to a lack of time and not because they don’t care, and they’ll fix it sometime in the future.

I am a guild leader since 14 november 2013 we had many members now we don’t …let’s say 10-15 daily online members, that is a small guild, yet we don’t complain about the upgrades and we work hard to get our amazing guild hall in a nice shape.
We got all the buildings (tents for now) available and many of the upgrades.
And we are working constantly on it.

Good for you that you don’t mind grinding for all those materials you’ll need to get all those things back that you used to have before anet took them away. The upgrades I want back are unreachable for my guild (number 1 priority would be the wvw +5 supplies buff), so I can choose between suffering in silence and letting anet know that the new system isn’t working for small guilds, especially for the ones focused on wvw. I choose the latter.

Attuning rings?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

First of all, you need to have finished the second of the fractals masteries. This gives you access to a vendor on a different island in the fractals lobby. This vendor sells an item called Agonized Essence: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agonized_Essence

The mystic forge recipe for attuning is: Agonized Essence + ascended ring + one +1-infusion + one Philosopher’s Stone

If you have any infusions in your ring, make sure to remove them before attuning the ring as they would be lost. You can buy an infusion removal tool from the same vendor.

How many quit playing WvW since new maps?

in WvW

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

I used to play wvw a lot, nowadays I only do my dailies – sometimes I don’t even bother with that.

In retrospect it’s really obvious how all of the changes hurt wvw. Small-scale roaming/havoc is a lot less effective because of the loss of +5, the higher supply costs of guild catas/acs, the auto-upgrades and the new map with the long distances between objects. Guilds have to grind pve to get their guild hall upgraded and their buffs back. Players have to gain their elite specs. So that leaves wvw with empty maps, which means that even the players who aren’t busy grinding somewhere else don’t have much of an incentive to play wvw.

As others have suggested, one thing they could do is to remove auto-upgrades. Make upgrades free but have them need player interaction to start. That would at least make it a little easier for smaller groups to take objectives as they won’t always be encountering fully upgraded objectives.

Another thing anet needs to look at asap are the guild upgrades. First of all, the costs of upgrades need to be scaled to the roster size of guilds, so that smaller guilds have a chance to obtain their upgrades, too. Make smaller guild halls for smaller guilds if you want to appease the bigger guilds – we don’t need huge halls, anyway, and some of us might even prefer smaller halls.

Being able to start building a war room shouldn’t be dependent on having other upgrades – wvw guilds shouldn’t be forced to play pve in order to get their upgrades. This also means that the materials used for upgrading the war room should be materials that you can get from playing wvw.

Proofs of heroics should go in the wallet and be accessible for all characters without having to use the bank workaround. We should be able to play wvw on our main characters and still be able to get hero points for alts.

As for the new map – well, the easiest thing would be to retire it and bring the old borderland map back, even if it means that a lot of work hours were wasted. I just don’t understand why anet made a map with EotM mechanics when most wvw players said that they don’t like EotM. I guess you could rework the map into a new EotM map and rotate it with the old one? If you insist on keeping it as the borderlands map, at least get rid of the shrines and the oasis event.

I agree. Back when the collections came out, it seemed to me that they were mostly just to keep the players busy and playing until the arrival of the expansion pack. Now that it’s here and anet doesn’t really need to keep us entertained with old content, they really could introduce some vendors that sell those spoons. As you already mentioned, the wvw spoon could be sold for proofs of heroics, the fractal spoon could be sold for fractal relics and I’m sure anet could find a way to make the Tequatl spoon available to those who repeatedly played the content but didn’t get the drop (in exchange for broken spoons maybe?).

Small Guilds, stop complaining about GHls

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

From a purely factual standpoint, it is though. I’ve pretty meticulously laid out why. Influence costs scaled up as you unlocked things, but earning did not. Your ability to use your upgrades depended heavily on having larger guild populations and more highly active players on a daily basis.

{snip}

These are all statements of fact, not opinion.

Ummm… No, they’re not really. Banner A cost X. Much better Banner B cost Y. Think, oh, XP banner vs Heroes banner or something. The item costs were fixed, not scaled. Those are facts. They had nothing to do with the guild size. If you’d unlocked the pre-requisites & you had the influence, you could buy them.

Whether you think that’s better or worse than the system now? That’s opinion.

If you were a small guild, and you had & you did… You can’t now. Anet took that away. You’ve got to go through a huge grind to unlock the ability to purchase those consumables now; consumables that you had access to before. Now, once you’ve done that, it might well be that the cost for the consumable is the same whether you’re small or huge; X number of Y materials. But for Banner B, which you had access to prior to HoT, you have a kittening great wall to climb over to get the access that you had already unlocked once… Hard for a small guild.

Now that I understand your point a bit better, I think nothing has really changed. Instead of the wall of “I have access to this but need X amount to make it”, we have a wall of “I need X amount to access this, and then I can make it”. That isn’t easier for a small guild, it just puts the same effort in a different, earlier place. If you see what I mean?

No, you don’t have to go through a grind to unlock them if you already had them unlocked. That’s the central point of misinformation I keep seeing.

The acquisition method is only changed for guilds that didn’t already have access to these consumables.

If you had them unlocked previously, you walk in to the guild initiative, and hand the NPC some favor, though one poster has said that NPC is temporarily disabled, that’s how I have been spending all of the excess favor we don’t use for hall upgrades because it’s actually cheaper and faster than making them via the new scribing system, and that level of cheap and easy actually can’t be obtained by new guilds who hadn’t unlocked them in the old system.

You keep repeating that and it’s not true. My guild and many other guilds like mine had +5 supplies unlocked and it’s gone now unless we get a guild hall and grind out all the upgrades to get it back. I can try talking to that temporarily disabled npc till I’m blue in the face, he won’t be giving me back my upgrade even though I had it unlocked.

So maybe instead of repeating your “upgrades aren’t lost” mantra, how about you start reading what other people are saying to you? Not every player wants banners!

Also, not every player wants to have to grind some pve maps to get the materials needed for upgrading guilds halls (silverwastes shovels, anyone?). That’s why the old influence system was superior to what we have now – you could play the content you enjoyed and were still able to upgrade your guild. Now, if you don’t like pve, you’re out of luck. And you keep acting as if the players who complain about the new system were unreasonable.

Guild halls could have been a nice addition to GW2, but instead we got a system that seems to be purely designed to be a gold and time sink.

"Favour" system and small guilds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

  1. We have not unlocked Trek, not enough points of influence due to irregulars account’s connexions and our guild-type: small = few players

It doesn’t matter if you had this mission unlocked in the old system, they’re all available to all guilds now. Without upgrades for further mission slots, you will be able to do three missions. You can pick one of the following options: pve only, wvw only, pvp only or missions from all types. The last option will give you 10% bonus favor and it’s the one that’s selected by default. You can change it in the guild mission panel, as Frostfire already mentioned.

Note: You can try the missions as often as you want. This also means that you could repeat the mission with your guildies if some of them haven’t gotten their commendations yet.

I’m not sure if it’s intended, but the following missions can be done solo at the moment:

- wvw oasis event: Gears have to be handed in from people from your server (3 for the easy mission, 10 for the hard one). Funnily enough, your guild will get credit for this even if no one from your guild handed in a single gear. You just have to be on the map and have the mission running – if enough gears get handed in for your server, your guild will get favor.

- pve guild rush: This can be done solo if another guild is completing the mission at the same time. You would have to hang out at the rush location and wait for another guild to start the mission and then start your own. Once the mission target of e.g. 15 runs is completed, you will be allowed to accept credit for your guild.

The biggest hurdle will come after you have your guild hall, though, because those upgrade costs are insane. I haven’t even bothered claiming a hall yet – upgrading is just too expensive in my opinion.

LFG needs a small update, LFG by Zone

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

As always, I support a redesign of the open world section of the lfg tool. At the moment it’s really hard to find the taxis you need.

The most important thing for me would be to be able to only see the groups from all versions of the map I am currently on. I’d prefer it if that was the default view when I open the lfg tool.

Let’s say I want to do the Tequatl event. I’ll waypoint into the map – if it’s a lively one with enough people and some commanders I’ll stay and help get more people in. If it’s rather empty, I’ll use the lfg tool to find a better map. So this is how I use the lfg tool: I usually know what I want to do and am already on the map I want to be on, I just need to find a more organised version of it.

Most of the vanilla GW2 maps don’t need their own category imo. It would nice to have a separate category for farm maps like Dry Top and Silverwastes, but the rest could go into one general category. The new HoT maps should all have their own category.

So, basically, my suggestion would be:

Open World

  • Central Tyria
    – General
    – Dry Top
    – Silverwastes
  • HoT
    – Verdant Brink
    – Auric Basin
    – Tangled Depths
    – Dragon’s Stand

I think the daily category in the UI could use a rework. As it is right now, you have a subcategory of the same name in it, which contains all the pve/pvp/wvw dailies. In my opinion it would be a lot more user-friendly to have separate categories, like this:

DAILY
- pve
- pvp
- wvw
- fractals
- holidays

This would make it a lot easier to see which e.g. pve dailies there are once you’ve clicked away the pop-up you get with the daily chest.

I was just about to bump this thread about the same topic, so let me quote something from over there:

Well, since right now the current system allows you to switch to different crafting types without losing your progress, presumably you’d be able to restart any missing crafting disciplines without loss in the same way.

Basically, all I want is an additional “switching crafting disciplines” option where I switch to nothing instead of another discipline.

Having the option to switch to “no disciplines active” would be perfect. I, like many others, have managed to pick up quite a lot of unwanted disciplines by being careless while using trainers as vendors and I would welcome the opportunity to get rid of them. I love that we can see our characters’ crafting disciplines in the loading screen now and being able to switch to “no disciplines” on some characters would make it even easier to spot my real crafters.

Guild hall costs are insane for small guilds

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

Ok so a system i have seen used in other games is this.
The guild hall costs scale, so small guilds pay less and big guilds pay more.

But each time your guild hits a size boundry i.e. a guild recruits more people and hits 250 players, the guild stations etc get disabled until they are upgraded to the new guild size tier.

Small guilds can start paying toward the next size tier upgrades before they hit it so that those features dont get disabled when they hit the next size tier.

This would be a great system that enabled small guilds to have their own halls too. Anet could even make the more expensive halls bigger to reward bigger guilds for having to spend more gold.

The only real reason I can see why anet didn’t make a system like that is because it would take time to implement. I hope they change their minds and come up with different tiers of guild halls, so we can see that they actually care about small guilds too and that they don’t want guild halls to only be a time/gold sink.

Guild boon disabled for non-HoT players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Shukriyya.7629

Shukriyya.7629

They also moved all the WvW buffs (like +5 supply) out of the core game and into HoT. It’s a pretty shady move.

The +5 supply is part of WvW Abilities; it’s available to anyone with 145 ability points, including non-HoT players. (You can get smaller +supply increases with as little kitten points.)

Lord Kuru was talking about the guild consumable +5 supplies, which enabled players who had access to both to carry 20 supplies. The guild +5 is locked behind many, many upgrades in the war room and needs the guild to be level 37, which makes it pretty much inaccessible to small roaming guilds who are not extremely rich.

It is an immensely valuable wvw upgrade that many of us lost because it was put behind a paywall, so maybe y’all can see now why wvw players who are in small guilds are not exactly fans of the new system.

Back to the original topic: I really don’t see why it would be so bad for non-HoT players to have access to guild boons. Give them back what they had before HoT.

I know you said that you don’t want to hear that you should just play more, however as a rabid collector of siege commander spoons I can give you a tip on how to get that item: in my long, long hours playing wvw I’ve noticed that they seem to drop more when I manage to do a lot of damage to the npc. This happened in my match-up last week as well. I was unable to cap Speldan because the supervisor was an ally even though we didn’t own the camp. The camp was flipped a few minutes later though, so I think the lord might be flipping back and forth.

Thank you so much for posting this! We’ve been looking for the cat cave but were mislead by a random kitty near a vista. o_o

I love the secret cave, it’s beautiful! An instance of it would be perfect as a guild hall for small guilds (quaggans and kittens may stay).

Guild Tavern Restoration 2: Small Guilds

As it is, scaling might have been considered, but not implemented for various reasons. And putting it in now would probably provoke the wrath of all nine hells – a.k.a. guilds who already have invested a lot of mats into their guild halls. It’d be… interesting to see how that would be handled.
And by interesting I mean a bloody circus of screeching and complaining, no matter how fairly it’d be handled.

I’m in favour of scaling. It sounds like the best option – the way it is now, small guilds can’t handle the upgrade costs. I also like the tiers suggested by Healix above (10, 50, 100, 250, 500).

When introducing scaling, anet could automatically put the guild hall into the tier that fits the roster size and reimburse any excess materials that were paid for upgrades in the old system. So a guild with 20 members would be put into the tier of halls for guilds with 11-50 members and given back any materials they already paid which exceed the costs of these tier 2 halls.

I got a recipe from fractals too today. They can be sold/bought on the trading post.

There is no justified reason letting a guild of 2 people achieve the same as a guild of 200 or more. What would be the point of even joining a big guild then? You’re just complaining because you can’t get over your anti-social behavior.

Not everyone is fixated on ‘achievements’ as you seem to be, some people od things for the fun not for the supposed kudos they [vainly] think it gives them.

Get over your elitist attitude.

You’re avoiding the question. What would be the point in joining big guilds if you could do everything already as two people.

Having more people to play with, obviously. An easier way to group up for content that requires a full party, like dungeons or fractals. You usually won’t have to pug if you’re in a big guild.

ETA:

Also the things you’ve done in the pasr aren’t wasted. Banners you previously unlocked are already learnt in the tavern for you. So you won’t be spending extra on that.

They are lost if you never advance to having a tavern. Have you looked at the hoops wvw guilds have to jump through now just to get their +5 back?

I totally agree. My inventory is getting clogged up with new crafting materials, which is very annoying. I’m not going to buy more bank tabs if that’s what you’re hoping for, I’ll only be grumpy and play less.
