I am having a very hard time with my Ele alt, too… I just haven’t figured out how to play it yet.

I think our characters kinda look alike.

Language is fluid. Always. Any language that isn’t is dead. Also, when you heard “gaul-em” were you somehow incredibly confused about what was being discussed? Or were you indeed fully aware that it was the same thing as “goh-lem”? In which case, you understood perfectly, which is in fact what happens all the time. If we were truly unable to understand each other, then no one would/could correct anyone.

Hmmm, interesting. As a cultural anthropologist, I could go into the ways that absolute insistence on a certain pronunciation is a part of institutionalized racism/prejudice. That would take a really long time and probably get everyone way more riled up; I will instead just mention it in passing, while eating popcorn and watching people argue.

If people want to pronounce popcorn as papchorn, I have no problem with that at all. In fact, I will high-five you and pass the bowl.

I have to say I absolutely love the holiday outfits, male and female. They are the classic Victorian style Christmas look. It’s always been my favorite formal style and if I had a choice, I’d wear it in real life as well. Christmas isn’t sexy to me, it’s traditional. :P

I have no problem with them adding more/sexier styles (naughty Santa/elf type!), though, because honestly, the more clothes options the better, in my opinion.

Whoever made Bell Choir, I want to have their babies. I LOVE that minigame. I will be genuinely sad when it’s over.

I love this Winter Wonderland Jumping Puzzle, too! I actually adore the whole event, with the one exception of the mini handling.

I can empathize. I was seeing some aggression directed my way earlier (in-game), and I wasn’t complaining about the puzzle, just saying that I liked it a lot for being easier (for me) than the Mad King’s tower. Mad King took about 10 hours for me, and this took about 1 1/2. I’ve got carpal tunnel, so I wasn’t sure I’d get either of them.

If you want a hint that helped me, try turning your camera rotation WAY up. Mine was up about 3/4 of the way (and I used a trackball mouse, which may have made things better/worse). That made swinging around the corners on the snowflake bit SO MUCH easier for me. You need far less hand/wrist movement that way.
I then beat it 7 or 8 times!

I hope you are able to complete it and don’t let a few bad apples spoil your experience.

I absolutely, utterly ADORE this jumping puzzle. Like, a lot. The Clocktower was a bit too hard for my tastes, but this was juuuuuust right. Instead of ten hours, it took me an hour and a half, and it was a blast the whole time.

Here are a few of my favorites! They are verrrrry large, you have been warned.

I don’t see how this wouldn’t fit in with the lore. At least, it could theoretically.

We know from a zoomed in version of one of the released photos for the event that “Bomsak” is written on the side of the Golem airship.
We have a sort of “Mad Scientist” Asura that’s handing out “gifts”.
So, it could end up being that Tixx is really crazy, and he’s not handing out gifts at all, but trying to hatch some diabolical plan.
I can fully see a crazy Asura trying to start something under the guise of a well known Tyrian holiday.

Now, I have no idea if they are taking it in that direction, of course. Either way, I think there are many ways to work such a thing into the lore and I am looking forward to it greatly. (Unless all the awesome items drop from gemstore Winterday chests, and then I will pull my hair out and scream “BAH HUMBUG!”)

Also, I apologise if this has been touched on before in another post, I didn’t read through all of them!

I had the same first thought as GreenSage. Santa typically carries a sack, and if we are to have a fight this Wintersday, perhaps Toymaker Tixx will be lobbing bombs in addition to (or instead of?) presents! Maybe because we’ve been naughty?

I did this in Gendarran Fields, using the 4 that respawn. I think the exact spot is just below and to the right (when looking at the world map) of the Provern Shore Waypoint. There were about 40 players there when I did mine – It was great!

I had that, then I closed the launcher and restarted and now I have 500kb/s

Or is that against the ToS? We each have a paid account, but her computer is crappier than mine and I want her to see the game in its full graphical glory.

I have Black. It looks more gray to me, but I have not actually used it on armor yet. Midnight Ice’s preview looks like a deeper, glossier black, while Black and Abyss look matte to me. Based on preview images only, as I can’t decide to keep or sell them.

Yeah, I am cool with them being focused on the game right now (and I expect it!), I was just wondering about the future. Now that you mention it Balkito, I think I did see at least a guilds forum for beta. It slipped my mind. Thanks for reminding me!

I know this might seem like a weird question, but does anybody know if there are any plans to extend the forums for more than just help/support? Will there be a sort of general community forum and maybe a looking for guild forum? Did Anet have that for GW 1? Just curious!

I am going to add my support for fixed names. I find that with the number of pets available (and thus the amount of swapping), the names should be remembered or just scrap the naming feature altogether. I understand this is a low priority request, but it would be nice if it could happen.
Please help out my pets, “Salad” the Fern Dog, “Sushi” the Shark, and “Bobert the Majestic” Eagle (among others).
