This happened to me tonight, Mondo..and I was so ashamed. There were upset players at my feet and at other platforms, but there was nothing I could do.
I logged in my level 45 elementalist for the rest of the night (my necro is level 80) and guess what? My ele rocked it out way better than my necro did, and that my friend, is just sad.
Your suggestion would do much in the way of making my poor necromancer feel proud once more.
/cheer!!!
Love this!!!
Broken. Many people have posted and/or started threads about.
We’ve seen one post from Anet about it:

Hi everyone,
We’re aware of this behavior for the Dragon Bash meta-achievement and are looking into it. Thanks for your patience !
Has this been resolved?
Most programmers probably are thinking how is it more complicated than a simple ‘if-then’
If DragonBashAchieve = 8
SendMailReward
Else
End
Nope, hasn’t been resolved, and that’s not such a huge deal, but the silence about the issue is though.
Ah well. DVR is full of Dexter and True Blood episodes to catch up on, and since I just finished reading The Walking Dead Compendium II, I need to order from episode 97 to the current one.
I’ve only played GW2 for a few months, I won’t be heartbroken not to play, or spend my cash on gems, I’ll find something else to occupy my free time if things are going to remain broken.
I think the ridiculous thing is it’s been well over 24 hours and they won’t even give the playerbase a well communicated update on the issue.
Sure, you can find something if you dig hard enough, but why not just be open about it?
While I am in complete agreement with those who say the whining is, frankly, silly. I do think that this chapter in GW2’s history has been completely over run with communication issues. From the still ongoing achievement total issue to the still ongoing debate about the Dragon Ball achievements to the dates for the event itself to the lack of clarity on the fireworks events to who knows what else will still be coming. Every ANet staffer seems to be giving out different information and that information, in some cases, has dumped some real problems into the collective lap of the playerbase.
They seriously need to go back to the drawing board on how get their stories straight and how to effectively communicate with their players.
I up-voted this, Strider.
Bugs happen, patches get glitchy, I get it, and I think most of the playerbase does too. However, there is some truly sloppy stuff going on that can be smoothed over with direct communication.
I’m seeing folks ask the same questions over and over again. Why are my DB achievements not counting? Are the fireworks still going? Why am I not getting my wings, patch says my 8 achievements are enough! I stopped over in the Bug forums this evening, and I couldn’t get over how many people asked the same thing time and again. Maybe an in-game message upon login stating Anet is aware of the issues, maybe a message on the login screen, I don’t know, but there needs to be more communication and the Anet folks really need to get on the same page before giving conflicting information. I bet it’d go a long way in regards to how the playerbase reacts when there are issues.
The update notes stated it only requires 8 achievements, not 10, in order to complete the meta achievement for the shattered wings. Excluding Dragon Ball and case closed.
Many people have 8-9 achievements now, yet its not complete..
Bugged, Thx.
They know:

Kills in Dragon Ball no longer progress daily PvP achievements.
Reducing “The Dragon Bash Experience” meta-achievement required total number from 10 down to 8. The Dragon Ball Achievements do not count towards its completion.
Ok they re-adjusted the thread. I just want to point out that their 3-days old reply, on page 2 of this thread, does not address this bug from yesterday’s patch update.
The response on page 2 of THIS thread is about the Dragon Ball stuff not counting before they changed the meta yesterday.
The other thread addresses strictly the patch not working as intended.
Ok just finished burning the 50 effigies and now I have 9 achievements toward “The Dragon Bash Experience” Shouldn’t I have the wings by now? It is still showing up that I am coming up short on achievements.

That was posted 3 days ago but the patch update was only yesterday so I don’t think ArenaNet has addressed this (i.e. bringing down Dragon Bash Experience requirement from 10 to 8 ) bug yet.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-June-11th-2013/first#post2230020
The thread merge wasn’t that accurate. In other words, the patch update, to bring the Dragon Bash Experience requirement down from 10 to 8 achievements, yesterday isn’t working. A 3-days old post can’t be the answer to that.
They did address it:

Its a 7 hour old post.
Same here, the 2 dragonball achievements did not count on the meta achievements, done 10 but saying only 8
During my live stream on Friday I confirmed that the Dragon Ball achievements would not count towards the overall. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

No longer obtainable.
There seems to be an echo.
Deja vu, anyone?
Ah well, maybe this’ll get fixed soon.
I can’t believe all the whining about “wasted time” and being “punished”. If playing (any part of) the game feels like a chore, why do you keep playing? The only one who forces you to do anything you don’t like is yourself! Now go patch your game tonight, get the wings and enjoy them. And next time, don’t do 2 achievements you don’t like and don’t need anyway. Because you all DID know that there were more achievements available than 10 needed for the wings, and you DID know that you couldn’t get the wings before today anyway. You COULD have chosen to not do dragonball at all if you hated it so much and get your wings by doing the other achievements.
I, along with many other in this thread have listed various reasons why we feel the way we do about how this whole thing was handled.
Consistently ignoring those reasons and labeling them as a “whine” is ridiculous.
Allow me to point out just a few posts that detail the issues:
and the best post I’ve seen written on the issue:
Just a few reasons for you.
*edit: There are more good reasons after your post as well.
My god you people kitten and whine about everything. If I were a dev, I’d never post in these forums again.
Then that would be a poor business decision. Especially with a F2P game.
No one is whining. People are asking why this was done, and mixed messages were given.
Fireworks ended
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-June-11th-2013/first#post2192806
Fireworks Event
During the first weekend, between 9am PDT June 14 and 9am PDT June 17th, a grand fireworks show will repeat every two hours. Players who witness the finale will be awarded a container holding three account-bound commemorative dragon helms, one for each armor class in the game.

I fully understand (and support) not making it required for the wings, I find it baffling that it doesn’t count towards them. What’s the sense in that?
There is no explanation. Zip, zero, nada.
Seems the botters ruined it for everyone else. Anet does not want to reward the AFK bots for cheating through those 2 achievements, so they removed them from potentially counting towards the reward. The craptacular part about this is, they PUNISHED those of us that earned the achievements honestly and the exploiting fools were likely getting their mani/pedi time in, so they could care less, as they weren’t working for them anyway.
I give to you this Masuka laugh compilation on behalf of the AFK’ers that no doubt tittered through this whole thing.
Aww, c’mon Astral. Surely it means to dance voraciously upon a curb, right?
Because that whole Google page showing me numerous references to the American History X curb stomping scene couldn’t possibly be behind this name. Nay I say, never in life!

Sounds like an ISP issue, or maybe your modem and/or router are wonky.
I’ve had this issue before and my modem was the culprit. Try resetting it
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/attend-the-effigy-lighting-ceremony-on-june-18/
Not that I could find, sorry.
Perhaps it’ll start at 9 am PDT, like this last part did? That’s just a guess on my part, but it seems probable.
I think the sad part is how anyone regardless of play style or personal choice of how they get to the end goal is even being bagged on at all for something they did based on the developers actions and encouragement.
Most just miss the point.
It appears to me that those upset are not whining, but just upset that they invested personal time in something that was intended to be worth something only to find out that the fix made everything about what they had just done worthless with nothing to show for it in return.
Your entire post was eloquently written, and IMHO, spot on. Thank you for wording that so perfectly!
I snipped and quoted the above part just to highlight my sentiments on the issue. I am so bad at PvP, I mean baaaad. In UO, my first online gaming experience, I ran from reds. RAN. When Trammel was introduced, I left Felucca so fast.. and never returned until they made it worth my while to dungeon there (dungeon Shame..ahh, the pk’s!).
In WoW, I was that one player that could get stun-locked seemingly forever, on my hunter, priest, lock or pally! There were PvP achievements that had to be done for the Meta (Violet protodrake, anyone?) that I did (Children’s Week and AV, folks?) and never said boo about. I did it, painful or not because I wanted the reward at the end. I didn’t run to the forums and scream about “x-achievement isn’t fair because I have horrid reflexes, carpal tunnel or because deadly boss mods doesn’t warn me about players!” I did the required task, and I earned my rewards, and I was proud I did it, even if it took many dirt naps.
This was just poor communication. Really poor, and it’s disappointing because my time is worth something even if it’s trivial to someone else.
*edit- I think they also punished those of us who did these achievements the honest way rather than punish all the AFK’ers that just glided through it, and that bites.
(edited by Siobhan.5273)
I don’t mind PvP’ing. I’m horrid at it, but I’ll do my best and take my lumps if it’s required to earn something I want.
They actually went out of their way to say the achievements for Case Closed do not count towards the meta. So yeah… Why shouldn’t we complain?
Furthermore, its about choice, and fun. There simply is none in there now.
Wait, so you’re complaining that you had to do the Dragon Ball achieves even though you hated it, and now that they’ve ‘removed’ (they were never there) from the meta you’re complaining that you don’t have enough choice?
Wow.
The choice is to just not get the shattered wings. If you want them, do the task necessary to get the reward.
They were never “not” there.
There was another post from an ANet employee that them not counting was an “issue”:

During my live stream on Friday I confirmed that the Dragon Ball achievements would not count towards the overall. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I dunno about you, but I don’t dig up live feeds for information. We look at what is posted in threads here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs
and maybe this event forum.

Wait, what the kitten? When did this happen?
Patch Notes:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-June-11th-2013
Achievements
A new Dragon Bash category has been added for achievements involving the Dragon Bash festivities.
The Dragon Bash Experience meta-achievement will reward a set of Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings back item skin for players who have completed 10 out of the 14 total Dragon Bash achievements (Case Closed not included).
Fourteen new Dragon Bash festival achievements have been added. Please note that The Big Boom in the Big City, Case Closed, the Ceremony and Acrimony achievement line, and Burn Down The Dragons cannot be completed until additional Dragon Bash content is unlocked at a later time.
Some designer already apologized about it in a other post. For some reason they don’t want it to count. ‘Spat on’ is melodramatic, but should the moa wins be a requirement to get the event reward then I think counting either this or moa racing to achieve it is quite a good idea
There was also another response, that was posted on the forums, not on some obscure feed:
Which one is the one players should take at face value?
*edit spelling
During my live stream on Friday I confirmed that the Dragon Ball achievements would not count towards the overall. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I find it very funny that you guys don’t seem to agree on if it is a bug or if it was intended. If you supposedly told us about them not counting the past Friday, then why would Stephane Lo Presti type the following:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Dragon-Bash-Experience-achievement-bugged/page/2#post2215764
“Hi everyone,
We’re aware of the issue and have been working on a fix that we hope to push at the beginning of next week.”This was posted by him two days ago, and if I am not wrong, it seems like there has been problems with communication between the staff members regarding this.
I also feel that the majority of those who did these two achievements (Winning 20 sets of Dragon Ball games and playing a total of 20 Dragon Ball games) did not do it for mere fun, but for the bar to increase in achievements done towards getting the shattered wings.
Is it not reasonable to make them count?
This.
And why do I get the feeling we won’t hear an answer?
Seeing alot of Dragon Ball AFK’ing.
I covered the names of those in the match with me so they don’t show
500 to 80.
First off, stop assuming I did this for achievement points. I don’t grind for achievement points, I grinded to get the wings I wanted. Im annoyed because I spent a good share of time on a frustrating mini game where people would AFK out to scam the system. As I said before, I defended the event and the people complaining, but when we are told there is a bug regarding the Dragon ball achievements not counting, its pretty easy to conclude that the fix is making them work, not making it so you wasted time doing them in the first place. Im annoyed I wasted time when I could have been doing other things in the game, nothing more, nothing less. So no, I’m not a content completionist, an achievement hunter, or delusional, like you seem to think, just someone that wasted time on something that was later declared pointless.
Absolutely agree 100%
It seems it was easier to “fix” the required amount of achievements than to “fix” the AFK’ers who were ruining the DB games for those of us who participated.
Disappointing to say the least, but I guess it’s good to see how these things are handled early on in my GW2 adventures. Next event, I won’t waste my time when I hear a “fix is coming”.
Yup, affirmative for phishing attempt.
*edit: There is a sticky about phishing emails above. It looks like the one you got is on the list:

Fireworks just finished on the overflow I was on… approx. 35 minutes after it was slated to start.
Sitting in LA overflow.. and nothing.
Heh, Siob, if I was on the opposite team, I’d be in heaven. Practically guaranteed wins! Easy way to farm your Dragon Ball victories achievement. XD
hehe. I was such a sad sight to see, so horrible, yet running my little leafy bootay off and not quiting! I hit a few folks, like 3 times
I’m not sure there’s a mechanic for it, but something needs to be done about the AFKs in dragon ball. it’s terrible, and clearly only being done as a means to quickly complete the achievement(s) or worse, to troll everyone who really wants to be in there playing.
I am truly terrible at Dragon Ball, however, I do my very best, and I’m seeing alot of AFK’ers as well.
My husband went to bed a few hours ago, and not being sleepy yet, I decided I’d sit up tonight and do some of the achievements. Jumped into some DB and I’ve come across quite a few of these afk’ers. Active folks of course want to report them, so we decided we’d report them for botting, since there is no AFK report.
I think it’s really dookilicious to join any PvP type event and AFK. If you’re a baddie (like me! lol) just do your best and take your whooping, and you’ll get in some kills too. May take longer to finish, but lord, I was in a game tonight where I was the only person on my team NOT AFK!
Agree with the OP.
My son recently talked me and my husband into playing GW2. We’ve been enjoying it (this whole Karka Queen thing though and the ugly armor for gold and karka shells, ugh), but the RNG for BLT is just silly. We’re all contemplating leaving GW2 if something doesn’t change.
My son is now babbling about Elder Scrolls III online. He’ll likely start that when it comes out. I’m not sure I will. I think I’ll wait till a game is out for a year before trying another.
Colors should be account bound to begin with, just like originally planned.
http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/guild-wars-2-colorful-opinions/
Agreed. Though I had a conversation about that last night with my husband and I think making them un-bound (now that it has been implemented per character, not account) would just ruin the dye market.
FWIW, I’d be okay with only allowing this for the yellow quality dyes (rare?). Heck, I think folks would be thrilled to have the option, even if the gem price was maybe a little less or even equal to that of the infinite sickle or mining pick.
*expanded on my thought edit
(edited by Siobhan.5273)
Don’t bump. It’s not up to you to decide wich suggestions are good and Anet will never comment on them.
I don’t think he’s looking for pat on the back from Anet for posting an idea so grand they’ll surely be implementing it soon™ or ever, for that matter. Just trying to get what he thinks, and hopefully others think is a good idea out there. I am certain he doesn’t even expect an Anet response to his thread.
He said ‘shameless bump’, as a tongue in cheek comment, but he also expanded on this ‘bump’ with a further thought about why this could be a good thing. The rng factor of many items drives alot people batty. I’ve read numerous threads about the Southsun Crates and or the F&F dyes to make my eyes cross.
At any rate, I’d think there are more serious ‘violations’ you could find to shake a finger at. I’m seeing a few threads with just a simple ‘bump’ response.
I’m a family member of this guy, and just joined the game 2 months ago.
I quickly became an Unidentified Dye addict and every chance I got, I bought one. To my joy one night, I got the Abyss dye. I checked the BLT to see what they went for and my little newbie mind was blown. 22 gold! Wow! Sold it!
Told Korasawa the following morning, and his face got sad, like really sad. Like seeing someone smack a kitten, sad. He’d been wanting this dye on an alt. It should have been his!
Anyway, I support this idea. Having reached 80, and thinking about leveling an alt, one of the things I don’t want to have to do is buy dyes all over again.
I did manage to get a group for another run at this that didnt go so well, and now I have one complaint. After ressing the group was immediately placed on the platform again after a loading screen, and mid-combat
Ran this dungeon with my husband and son last night. Same thing happened to us.
So many times in fact, that we all had to leave the instance separately while someone stayed dead, and then we all logged off. Not fun.
Not real happy about this culminating into a 5 man either. We left WoW and Rift because there was really no way for our family to see “end” game. Now this with GW2.
We got through all of it 3 man, but due to the bugged end fight, not that last boss fight. Sucks. I’d think with this dungeon not being available after the 12th, it’d be fixed fast. I hope that ends up being the case.
My son, my husband and myself thank you. What fun!
