Next gw2 Expansion Class?

new class should be Wizard. In WvW, there is a guard type “Veteran Wizard”. Make this class like the old-school RPG wizard!!!

OOT:
Skritts!!!! Shinies!!!!

Ok, seriously, the Kodan should be next on the list of potential new race for GW2. At Frostgorge Sound, they said they came to help in the fight against the elder dragons. And their way of talking is very interesting. Very philosophical type of race.

……………..
I can say this though having played GW 1 and GW 2 for probably far longer then a few players is that Arena.net has always strived and listened to it’s players. ……………

So far, from my perspective, they have not listen at all. About the game, the dungeons, the PvE, the WvW, the PvP…and Fractals. You go read those unofficial forums and you will get what I mean.

This is what I observe, doesn’t mean ANet does not listen, they probably are, but from my own observation, they have not been listening.

In my honest opinion. I may be proven wrong, I don’t know. We shall see.

Exploits and Glitching

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

SirDrygan.1823

So, in real life, a sniper is exploiting hidden position to snipe the enemies, and yet the SWAT team and police also deploy snipers when taking down the bad guy.

Now, I am a ranger, with a bow and arrow. My job is to shot from far and hit the enemy. So, I stand on a tree and I shoot at the enemy. Of course, if the enemy found my position, they can shoot back.

So, let’s take a boss in a dungeon for example. 4 legged lizards boss. Everyone stand on a stairs and shoot at the boss, but the boss can’t shoot back. It cannot jump or have ranged or it’s ranged attack is not long enough. We have the advantage. Many of you call this exploit, some call this strategy.

Solution? Simple. Put everyone on a FLAT land with walls that has no ledge. Boss room where your party members and boss squares off. No ledges, no stairs, no trees, no nothing. Problem solve. Right?

For me, it’s not a solution, nor is removing all this so called exploit and making a boss room, either square or rounded room.

If you say that hiding under the stairs and hitting a boss is exploiting, then make the boss run under the stairs too, instead of standing there like a fool. Or if you stand at a ledge where the boss can’t reach you, make it cast something like magic arrow or even better, destroy the environment (like Tequatll or Claw of Jormag destroying the environment). So, 4 legged boss cant’ reached you on that ledge? What does it do? RAM it and destroy the foundation below it. And humpty dumpty falls down.

Hiding behind pillars? RAM it and make the pillar fall on the players to deal some fall damage.

So, wouldn’t this be better than just scream exploit at everything and thus finally forcing ANet to make boss room where there is no ledges, no stairs, no nothing but just four walls and a flat floor. You, your party and the boss and his minions.

You all just sore that people are doing it easy way out. If it a map exploit like the CM one, then by all means, close it. But shooting from trees, ledges and stairs is an exploit? Since when does a battle need to be head on? You all never learnt from the WW1 and WW2, the gulf War and many wars in the past and present? You think using the environment is an exploit? It is call strategy.

Had ANet make bosses room like some old-school RPGs, we wouldn’t be here arguing about exploits or whatnot. If shooting from high places and whatever is what you all call exploit, then remove ranged weapons altogether. Because what is the use of RANGED weapons when you can’t shoot people from far away or from high or low places? You think everyone here has honor and dignity in battle? Try asking those that actually fight a real war in real life as see if they think giving the enemy any chances of attacking back is a good idea.

I can’t wait to see a “I told you so.” from players who predicted Trahearne is actually evil. Since you all wanted him to be evil and if ANet agrees with you all and really put out a plot twists like everyone wanted to in a future Expansion or storyline update.
Since you all “want” him to be evil, you may get this wish, in the future.

And I still will say…..“Cliché”. since this is not original, nor it is really “surprising at all”. But hey, people will not think about it and just scream “We knew it!. Trahearne was the right hand to Zhaitan, we could smell it from miles away!!” kinda comment when that time comes this so-called plot twist is introduce by ANet.

Can’t you all think of something better than just making Trahearne EVIL? Good guys becoming bad guys is NOT an original idea nor it is surprising anymore and vice versa.

Why does WvW have to be in World Completion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SirDrygan.1823

I think I know what the OP meant. Some players do not play this game for the WvW or PvP. They only do it for the PvE. Either they are bad at playing against players, or they suck at playing games, or like me, I have no interest in fighting against other players. Forcing them into a player vs player arena like WvW is just “forcing” them to do what they can’t do or what they don’t like to do.

I got my 100% completion on my main char by just following the zerg, or by trying my luck at some location that the zerg does not go to. Once I had to suicide run into a poi with 15+ invaders waiting. I have no problem dying since my sole purpose is to get the poi. After 100% completion, I only go into EB to get the badges from the jp. Since it the only way to get the badges without going against other players. Now I have like 200+ badges, only chalk up assisted kills by following zergs and thats it. I will never go into WvW just to fight against other players or go into PvP. No interest in it, even if it is fun to many, doesn’t mean it is fun for some.

You can say I am bad at playing games too if you want, I don’t care. I play this game because it is fun to play with player not against player. That is all.

I rarely got anything from veterans, they drop nothing usually. Champs, I got white and blues and the occasional greens.

So, I usually don’t bother with the vets and champs, unless a group is doing it, and I just join in. No point doing it solo.

Is this game..dead?

When I started playing GW2 one month after it was launched, the server I was in had many player in the maps. I started with a Sylvari Elementalist, hence Caledon Forest has many people, off-peak and peak period. Moved to Kessex Hills next, and boy, it was crowded. The broken bridge event and the Centaur Overlord event. Players I meet and interesting events and the zergs of players running from one side of the map to the other. Then my friend who also was playing (he no longer plays GW2), asked me to move to his server. I moved. Boy, it was even better than my previous server. I played daily for 5-6 hours since I had to go to work, on weekends, I play the whole day about 10-12 hours.

Slowly, I noticed there are less and less players on the maps. Over a 3 month period. Now, on my server, most of the players are in Lion’s Arch waiting for the “FoTM lv 9999999999 lf3m”….etc…. kind of message. On the maps, most of the time it’s me and the gazillion centaurs, risen, sons of svanir…etc
On occasion you get 1 or 2 other players trying to get that skill point that you can’t solo since that veteran is most likely insanely OP to a low level, so you need backup. Sometimes, some events I have tried to solo, to no avail. It is impossible to solo some events. So, i ignore that event or skill point or vista and come back later to do it. Sometimes I get lucky and there is someone there doing it, so i just joined it.

Now, I have my near end-game character (i have 40% of the mats for a legendary, still getting there.) and it is so lonely on the maps. There is hardly anyone around. Only at certain maps you will see players.
Fireheart Rise at the Gates of Flame
Sparkfly Fen at Splintered Coast where Tequatl the Sunless spawns.
Frostgorge Sound at where the Claw of Jormag spawns
Blazeridge Steppes at where The Shatterer spawns.
and at Orr at some areas where Risen continuously are attacking the Pact’s area.

These are the area with many players and alleged bots mostly hangs out.

The low level areas, most players are at Queendale.
At Kessex Hills, most at the Broken Bridge and the Great Overlord camp
and some other areas I can’t remember the names.

So, this game is in my opinion losing some players and gaining very little new players. And it has only been like 5 months.
Like my friend, he doesn’t want to play anyone and just quit playing since Christmas, never seen him logged-on since after Tixx landed in LA and running the dungeon twice with him.

So, this game may not be dying like some people have mentioned in this thread, but it’s not growing either.

Just to add some of the my experiences on the drops. I usually get whites and blues, which to me imho, is normal. Greens, Yellow are suppose to be a bit harder to get. The gold exotic, well, that one is for the likes of Champions and major DE or dungeons and should be hardest to get.

But…..
during the course of getting the 100% world completion on my Ele. On several occasions, i get yellows from normal mobs – spider hatchlings, spiders, moas….etc. Veterans usually don’t drop anything most of the time. And group event champions I get whites and blues and the occasional greens. If I remember correctly, i only gotten 1 yellow from a champion event. I have gotten more yellows from normal mobs than I have gotten from Champions and Veterans.
Which is why the loot drop is not working as it should. At least stop yellow from dropping from normal mobs and give Veterans and Champions a higher percentage to drop greens and yellows.

I don’t get it. Why everything target only players? It is a battle after all. NPC or not, they should get hit by the AOE. If not, why bother putting the NPC into battle? This is one mechanics of this game that I don’t get to understand. Everything will “Home-in” on the players. So, even if there are 10 NPCs in that battle, the attack will only affect the player(s), why give immunity to the NPCs?

In an actual battle, a bomb dropped into a crowd will kill everyone or damaged some standing near it….

Personal Story and lots of deaths...

in Personal Story

SirDrygan.1823

The way I see it, all these story quest is about you and you only. The NPC are there just to narrate you the story and nothing else. They drop like flies. Like the one protecting the Queen. The Exmplars and even Logan should be holding them back from reaching the Queen Jennah, but no. Logan drops first! Then the Exemplars next, lastly that mesmer beside the Queen (i can’t remember her name) drops too and even if you had cleared the current wave of Risen and got that corrupted Seraph to almost die, several MORE risen appears. You are on your own. If you think clearly for, the corrupted Seraph can just ignore you and go straight for the Queen since you are too busy trying to fight off the hordes of Risen, even though we are targeting him and ignoring the rest while Logan and the rest are DEAD. And respawning at the checkpoint, you will be swamped by the Risen because they are “home-in” on you. So, you have to run around the the room while the Queen stand there staring. In the first place, why the hell Logan did not grab Jennah and RUN first before coming back to help?
Come on. Snaff died because LOGAN had to go protect Queen Jennah. Yet, he drops first when trying to protect her in that story quest??? And it is all up to us to save the day!!!!! Like some of the renown hearts. The NPCs need US (the players) to do their job! (which I don’t mind, but it seems ridiculous to me, especially some of the hearts quest).

Just to add. All NPC should be like Detha (AC P2). The only few NPC in the game that will come to your aid if they are not dead on the ground and can actually fight and kill mob 1 vs 1. I am not asking for NPC to do the players job. At least make them “assist” you in your fight and not just standing there doing nothing. Like good old Trahearne. All talk and full of hot air. And he is suppose to SURVIVE Orr before returning to meet you.

Another was is to do the story quest when you are lv80 decked out in exotic, as I have done with my ele.

And quitting because of one small thing….. I remember how many times my ele died horribly doing the story quest that I gave up and go do something else and came back heavily armed to redo the quest that I can’t get through.

I have no problems with Trahearne as the Marshal of the Pact, but make his actually fight instead of standing there looking on as you take on 10 or more risen right in front of him. That is all. Other than that, his own personal issues is quite amusing to me. I got a few grins on my face when he tells me in person about his own problems.

Pact plot hole?

in Personal Story

Posted by: SirDrygan.1823

SirDrygan.1823

The thing is about this is, the Order’s Leader said they need a neutral party to “Lead” them, so Trahearne being the one without an order get’s appointed. No problems there.

The problem now is, your character. For example, my ele is a high ranking Order of Whispers officer, yet when Trahearne appoints me second-in-command, no one complains. The Vigil and the Priory just kept quiet. Even my own order did not go about bragging like they have an Order member appointed second in command of the Pact! In fact, i felt my character was “Forgotten” that she is still an Order of Whisper member. No Order of Whisper agents or officer or even the Preceptors even recognized my ele after that.

That is the plot hole.

Some may argue that they all trust’s Trahearne’s appointment. Yet, in a few stories later, the orders are voicing they own mistrust of Trahearne’s leadership!!!

You tell me if that is not a contradiction from the Claw Island story?

Yes, we follow the leaders, but blindly?

It makes me ponder on a phrase that I came about from an Eve Online trailer for one of their expansion pack thing.

“There are those who are brave. And there are those whom the brave will follow”

And Trahearne ain’t one of it. Maybe later in the story he got bolder, yet he still has “issues” (which is another discussion for another place).

Anyways, the OP is right about the appointment of your own character as second-in-command. No one said anything, they just follow blindly after they say they needed someone neutral.

A better way for the story would be that at that moment, the order you are in said something like or you yourself said to your own order “I hereby resigned from my position in the order.”
or something to that extend. And the story would be much better and less contradiction.

I think the second turret is bugged. It should be the Toy Soldier’s. I think today’s dungeon is bugged totally.

And yeah, it was disappointing that the quest are just the same as yesterday’s quest. And the Toxx fight, I thought we were suppose to lure it to the mortar attacks to defeat it? The shield went down the first time and never came back up we just whack it like yesterday. Either it is bugged or intended.

I think today’s dungeon is bugged. The defeat Toxx quest log on the left pops up 2 times but Toxx is still standing there beside Tixx. And after the 3rd time the quest log appears, then you finally fight it. But after you defeat it, it still run around the place, but with green status. And Tixx was like fixing it but Toxx is not standing beside him.

I gave up trying to finish timed jumping puzzle. Not really good at jumping in this game. Could not get past the first snowflakes. Most of the time, I jumped to my death instead of the second snowflakes.

It’s just me. I am bad at jumping.
