My pagefile size is set to 1x the amount of RAM, and still, I only have GW2 causing low on memory.
Again, that is not going to solve the issue if I play for long hours. And don’t tell me to stop then continue playing, that is still not solving it. What if I am in a multiple dungeon run and suddenly I have to tell my guild “Hey, I need to reboot my com, if not I am going to crash soon.”
That is not going to work.First of all you don’t even gotta reboot, just closing the client then reopening it will suffice. Secondly, Windows 8 even 8.1 is still considered to be in it’s infancy when it comes to compatibility there for memory leaks and the like should be expected. The thread scheduler which also controls your memory usage btw, works completely different in contrast to older Windows versions. Third, DDR2 which is most likely what that Core 2 uses is kitten cheap now. Lastly, GW2 is very CPU intensive there for it’s workload for framerate and other factors is entirely CPU driven, not graphics driven. Seeing what you’ve put into your system, you intentionally skimped on the cpu. Even the old second gen Core i3 series processors outperform the old Core 2’s. Heck even most of the sub $100 AMD’s do too.
I did not intentionally skimp on the CPU, I had the CPU long before I got the better graphic card. And why are you all blaming it on my CPU? GPU..etc? If other games and software are not giving me “out of memory” prompts, there is bound to be GW2 client leaking memory or some problems we don’t know about. You are even blaming it on Windows 8 and even mention 8.1, which it not even out yet only the preview version.
And I thought Fanboys only defend the in-game thing, didn’t know fanboys also defend the system requirements.
Come now, GW2 is not the God of MMOs, even if you think this is one such instance that you should defend it to death, I really have nothing else to say, since it is your right.
Just get this, there is a problem. And like I said, there is nothing wrong with my system. I have played many games and all runs SMOOTHLY except GW2.
Don’t get me wrong, in-game, apart from the lag that everyone is experiencing, there is nothing wrong with it, BUT there is definitely something wrong happening in the background or the client.
Lastly, the message I am getting is this “Get the ultimate CPU and GPU in the market or stop playing GW2, you casual gamers types just don’t get it, this is the game for gods not peasants!”
If you all still insist that my CPU is the problem, then so be it. I have nothing else more to say to you all.
I am posting this to ask the Devs to at least have a look at the memory leaking which is pretty obvious. Please stop blaming on everything including the kitchen sink but not the GW2 client.
I will post the debugs/dumps/whatever diagnostic files later tonight including those sent to Microsoft, if I know where the dump/debug files are located (for the Microsoft ones).

Just to mention that when zoning in, many many times I can’t control my character for nearly 1 minute before I can have control back. And this started during the Flame and Frost saga…..
Gw2 is a very intense game and you can hardly compare it to any of those games listed.
With your specs (both peeps), you should NOT be running the game at max. If you are running a 32 bit windows version, you should definitely make sure there are no extraneous programs running in the background. (gw2 uses almost half of your available memory by default, sometimes more… Plus your os uses over .5gb sometimes)
Also, if you are crashing a lot, you should be posting an exported .txt file of your crash reports (or arenanet.log file under my documents/guild wars 2), you can attach it using more posting & formatting options below.
Ok, understood.
However, just to mention, I am not running Guild Wars 2 at MAX, I am running at the recommended setting set by the client. I did not set anything by myself. The only time I went into the setting was to set my keybinds and the AoE looting. That is all.
And I ran GW2 without anything running in the background. As do other games.
And guess what? Only GW2 caused my Windows 8 Pro to prompt running out of memory and need to close.
Tell me, isn’t this a sign of memory leaking?
I play Skyrim at MAX settings (again, no background programs running) and I played 6 hours straight and when I quit for the day, Windows 8 Pro did not pushed the panic button and tell me I have to kill Skyrim to free up memory!
My opinion is that GW2 client has a memory leak somewhere, and it needs to be fix or address or something and not just blame “Oh, your computer can’t handle max settings for GW2” or “You can’t compare Skyrim to GW2 because GW2 is more intensive”…etc
In fact, before I got my Nvidia card, I was playing at very low settings on my budget graphic card, and even then, the game lags like hell, but that is because of the bottleneck my old graphic card is causing. With my new graphic card, I let the client set the setting for me. I did not even set any setting for my graphic card and it plays smoothly. Which I did not think it is the issue here.
My problem that I mention is Windows reporting low on memory because of GW2 everytime I play more than 2 hours.
Edit : I will dump all the debug files or whatever here later when I get back home from work. Even the Windows 8 debug file, if I can find it. Because everytime windows just asked me to sent it to their servers, which I did.

PVE has been lagging for quite sometime now. I think even before the Sky Pirate patch…..
WvW even worst, if there are hundreds of players killing each other, the lag is insane. I mean, some lag is quite understandable when you have that many players all in one place, but to lag till you don’t even know what is happening to your character or skills not about to execute, that is very very bad.
Windows 8 reported that my computer is low on memory and I need to close Guild Wars 2.
This happens every time I play the game for 2+ hours or more.
or
the client just stop responding if I exit the game and hangs. Have to bring up Task Manager and kill it.
or
if I play for less than 2 hours or more than 2 hours +, exiting to desktop my computer lags for a few minutes trying to clear Guild Wars 2 from memory.
On some occasions the game just crash.
I have not seen this kind of problem with my other games, Skyrim, Borderlands 2…etc I am running all these games at MAX Video settings.

Understandable…. but at least give him a headstone or something. I would think as the partner to the hero of the Ebon Vanguard, a headstone beside his wife would be fitting for him even with all his flaws or mistakes…..
There would still be a grave stone to at least mentioned there was once a Keiran, but since there is none. And even if he was placed in the mausoleum, it would make him really that insignificant that his tombstone can’t be placed beside his own wife’s tombstone? Talk about not giving him any respect. Just because he screwed up before doesn’t mean he needs to be shown the middle finger because of that! What about the things he did right?
Like someone suggested, just add checkpoints which if you don’t clear the checkpoints, the players won’t be able to open the chest.
You all should asked first if Arenanet is allowed to even bring back Cantha into the game in the first place? If NCsoft still veto Cantha?

I admit that it took the Pact many effort and sacrifices to take on Zhaitan. But, there is a saying…… if there is no body, you can’t be sure that it is dead!
Something like that……. I still think Zhaitan is not dead, unless we see it’s dead body…… which we didn’t. We only saw it falls into the clouds…….

I believe someone did miss the fact that Zhaitan was attacked by the full might of the 5 major races and the three orders, using completely new technology and yet it still took LOADS of time and effort to take him down.
Really? Because what really happened was 3 players manned 3 cannons/turrets and shot it to death!

The risks vs rewards in this game is kittens compared to others actually. I actually got better loots from playing TERA. (yeah, I played TERA because my friend asked me too. Stop playing because I keep on pressing the dodge button, in which there is NONE in TERA. Even if there was one, it sucks and my ranger type char dodge is a skill and the skill is slow.)
Oh, quest loot in TERA is way better too. Over here, if you don’t have enough Karma, you can’t buy them and even if you buy them, it is POINTLESS after a short while as you would have gotten better ones from another vendor!
Just want to say that you all don’t need to do this events if you think it is too hard or pointless or whatever reason. You can always wait for the next one in July/August/Sept…etc or the next expansion.
I did not complete Halloween, not did I complete Wintersday or SAB…… the world did not crumble nor did it turn into a desolated wasteland nor did a zombie horde wipe out 90% of the population.
If you try to keep up with the elites, you will probably be frustrated to no end. They (the elites) will keep on saying that this is the best dungeon until the next one comes, then they will brand that the best dungeon, until another comes and they will say the same thing over and over. So, stop trying to catch up to them, you will never will if you try to follow their standard. Follow your own standard and one day you will find that you are more elite than them!
The best dungeon is really subjective or it varies from players to players. If you are anything like that youtube guy who had a few major hate videos about GW2, you will think this is the dungeon for you and probably him, because according to his standard, this dungeon is HARD, doesn’t spoon feed you and it differentiates the nobles from the peasants/slums.
If you are casual players, you will think this is impossible to achieve due to how hard it is at some parts. And time is not with you. So, you will be screaming NERF until the 2 weeks is up and will continue to lament about it until the next dungeon, in which you will lament over that one and try to compare both and see which is worst or better.
Anyway, my point is this, you can CHOSE to NOT do this content. And move on. Complaining only will feed the nobles here. They are nobles after all.
Don’t thank the devs yet. Don’t forget, they can nerf the buffs in the next patch because whiners can’t keybind their dodge key even if their life depended on it.
Also, some whiners still think this is any normal MMO where you fight while standing still and facing your enemies!
So, thank the devs only when the devs stop nerfing and actually balanced all professions properly.
I won’t be surprise if the next villain in the next expansion is Trahearne trying to raise an undead army due to Zhaitan’s absents and trying to take over Tyria for himself!!! :P
And as the hero, we finally will have the chance to face him and see how powerful he really is…… his HP will turn from 1000 to 1000k. :P

I played an ele, I know what is GoEP. Post that due to sarcasm because I did not even use GoEP. Not even once….
I used a Staff Full Glass Cannon Fire(90% fire) attun of the time, so, nice slight buff on meteor shower. But it still won’t do much, if I can’t cast it fast enough. Mobs would have kicked my kittens way before the 2.5 seconds mark is up……
And yeah, I should be using Static field → Earth 4 → Water 4 → Meteor shower or some combination of that…. But…. I really want to be a Fire ele…… and being surviving it so far until now…….
Oh well, at least now I can cast Meteor Shower faster… slightly….

Since people love the Southsun “dungeon”, there should be more one room dungeon. In fact, it would just be better to put the chest there and just let everyone walk in to loot it, foregoing having a boss.
Anyway, the devs should do more for the old dungeon first before adding anything new.

People! Look at your MAP in-game. There are like insane amount of areas that are still blurred off. I doubt they will jump to another continent before going to Cantha!

When I started playing this game one month after the launched and hype had died down, I was like amazed with the game. I was actually playing Diablo 3 when Guild Wars 2 launched. I was like “Meh”. Guild Wars? what the hell is this game? Looks crappy. (saw a few youtubes video). Didn’t like what I saw, so Diablo 3 for a month…. MAJOR GRIND fest on Diablo 3…….. I just uninstall after killing Diablo for the 10th time. Then looked around to see if there is any other game to play.
Guild Wars 2 popped back on the list. I saw Angry Joe biased review about it and said to myself. What the hell, and went and bought GW2. Download and started playing.

Randomly select a server and bam. It was fun playing for the first 3 months. Sept to November. Switched to another server because a friend is also playing. It was really fun that 3 months. After that…it got grindy. Yes, many of you may say you have a choice NOT to grind. I understand, but I still feel it was grindy. So, stopped for 3 months and only returned in Feb 2013. The fun was not there anymore, the grind was still there, then came Molten Alliance, it was fun but the content was too little. Then the boss room in the Molten Factory turns out to be like any other MMOs. Boss Rooms. Meh. Because many are so fanatical about exploits and cheaters. Duh. I argue we should have remove ranged weapons. The counter argument is that if the enemy can’t shoot or attack back, it is an exploit. Whatever, I have no problems with either. I even suggested that boss destroy the environment to compensate for these “exploit”. Like ramming the stairs like the one in AC.
WvW I rarely go in unless I find a good commander leading the map. Due to these commanders actually knows how to lead. And the zerging of outnumbering the enemies 10 to 1 makes WvW no fun. Not to mention the skill lag! All a server needs is to have 100 man zerg on each map and you can owned everything that moves.
I don’t PvP so, I have no comment about PvP issues or whatever.
Fractals is both fun and grindy. Yes, deny it all you want. It is A GRIND. Only differences with other MMO is choice. We can choose NOT to enter fractals ever. Still not much of a problem there.
Loot drop. It was bad from the day I played until now. I hate killing champions and veterans, because I get NOTHING from them most of the time. And the joke was, I got most of my rares and a couple of exotics from NORMAL mobs. Yes, I got many rares from hatchlings mobs! I even got one today while doing my dailies! Map boss loot drops are worst, I get blues (many) and greens most of the time. Yellows? Hardly. Only the extra chest recently will get anything. But why can’t they drop in the main chest? What is so hard in putting them in the main chest? That only the devs will know.
Anyways, I am considering to stop playing Gw2 soon. [Brutus talk]It’s not like I don’t like Guild Wars 2, it is just that I like to have fun more![/end Brutus talk]

last time I checked I was at 1333++ hours across my 9 characters….
Is personal story really that hard for thief? I played thief as my 2nd character and I’ve solo all of my personal story past claw island. I don’t know how hard it is for ele, mesmer, or necro, but for a thief both mission for claw island were really easy for me using a thief. he clearing the ccourtyard part was simple and easy with thief, I use duel dagger to do it. Skill 4 for duel dagger their foes the trick really well when fighting mobs. In my opinion the personal story isn’t hard for me, am able to solo them with me thief with only dying twice at max, which is rarely. =P
Believe me, I had a hard time in Claw Island using my Ele…. And I was already level 80 with full exotics. Yes, I use all attunements…… and also ran, dodge and everything…
Is he dead? or alive? even after 250+ years? We only saw Gwen’s tombstone, but where is his tombstone???

Most of your issues come from the fact you want a WoW clone – a game in which the goal is to grind levels and then grind gear. The original intention behind Guild Wars 2 was to avoid exactly those things (see the link in my signature). So I can’t say I’m sad you are not happy with the game.
Yes, in the beginning it is not a gear grind. In the beginning it is not a level grind.
But that all change when Fractals appears. No matter how much you and others try to defend Fractals, it is still a grind. However, compared with WoW, we have a choice on if we want to grind or not. That is all.

I think NPCs are not necessary. Most of them die in seconds. Which is pointless to have them. On my ele, my personal NPC is my Stone Golem. I don’t even bother to rez anyone, since they will go down just as fast.
On my Ranger, during the white mantle arc when we were called by a mysterious man to meet in Divinity’s Reach in front of the Queen’s room, it was an ambushed by the white mantle. It was like, yeah, here we go again…. then out of the sudden, an NPC shout is heard and 2 NPCs came running to assist (Salia and Mehid of the Exemplars).
I was shocked. NPCs aren’t suppose to be like this (although this one is scripted). But these two NPCs are one of few that I met that all NPCs should be like.

In the end, WE are the ones that beat Zhaitan or so we think. We did not see the body, so Zhaitan could still be alive! :P
Trahearne is another Palawa Joko in the making!!! He is actually powerful, when you see him summoning 10 fresh golems at once!! Yet, he can’t do that other times, as if he doesn’t want us to complete the quest! And he does nothing during the fight with Zhaitan!!! I didn’t even know what he does during the fight with Zhaitan!!!
