The ice bow 4 overshadows every other AoE skill in the game. This isn’t even the “damage” conjure. It’s the one that grants bonus healing power. -_-
If you’re trying to add more diversity to the meta, especially PvE, you have to actually balance the game. One profession can’t be far and above all the others in damage.
The 4 should be totally replaced with a heal. This is the water weapon, not the fire weapon.
Fire Axe should be better somehow. Never seen anyone bring it to a serious group. I don’t even know what it does but it obviously sucks.
Icebow is the only ele conjure worth conjuring. If they nerf it so it do less damage than meteor then all ele conjure will be useless.
Don’t worry, it will be “nerf incoming” soon for Bow 4. You just see. ANET hates Elementalist, they sure will nerf it soon or after HoT.
You’re reading a whole lot into one sentence. It could just mean in the LS and subsequent PS, it could mean your ’vari gets turned but then finds redemption in some manner. I have great faith that ANet will never force PvP in PvE zones as that gets rid of the “be glad to see another player” goal.
They are already doing all sort of stuff regarding eSport (PVP) with tourny’s and world series….etc. What makes you think they aren’t going to “force” a PvP in a PvE?
Faith in ANET? I think many people are losing “Faith” at ANET.
This Sylvari turning nonsense might be the one that broke the camel’s back. Many of us (probably) just want to play PvE without PvP and WvW creeping into it. I can still tolerate the stomping on the Toxic alliances Nightmare court.
Come to think about it, ANET was hinting about this PvP in a PvE with that Toxic alliance Nightmare court stomping. GG ANET.
I think I will be deleting my Sylvari now. Sad, it was a good race to play with, now back to humans.
And I will not be supporting this nonsense. no HoT for me. The core game is more than enough.
(edited by SirDrygan.1823)
Seriously ANET. Trying to introduce PvP to the PvE crowd via a storyline loophole? Seriously?
Sylvari may turned even the players.
What nonsense is this?
Lore wise, I would say you are pushing it. Ventari’s tablet was suppose to be the wall that the The Grove’s Sylvari’s could get “some” immunity from Mordremoth influences. But now, you are saying every Sylvari could changed even player characters.
Ok, I don’t really care about the lore too much but I can almost see what you are trying to do. You are trying to “force” a PvP into PvE with this. Say some players suddenly turned and could attack friendly players, so other friendly players have to attack those players that turned during PvE to make them come back to their senses. Is this your plan ANET?
Tell me. If this is your plan, I will delete all my Sylvari characters and make humans characters as their expansion equivalent of this nonsense is probably years away.
Or better yet, may I suggest you ANET, REMOVE the Sylvari race as playable character all together. That way, it will solve your story loophole that you yourself created and you can make an event where we players burn The Grove to the ground. Doesn’t matter if those Sylvari are good, they “WILL TURN” anyways according to you. So, wouldn’t it be a good idea for the other races to Pre-empt an attack to destroy the Sylvari first before they turn?
It was a good idea in Minority Report. Why not in this situation?
ANET turning PVE into a Semi-PvP now?
Then I just logged into my non-Sylvari char. What’s is the point of this?
Or better yet, ANET should just ask everyone who are playing Sylvari to delete their chars and make other race, because they will stop making Sylvari as a playable class. If not, the storyline loophole and this PvP in a PvE nonsense doesn’t make any sense at all!
ArenaNet-Try Harder(to get me to)Pre-Order
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: SirDrygan.1823
Just wait it out. I am sure ANET will extend the pre-order when their sales statistic is not satisfactory to them.
More of you should care more tbh, so a few decent lads could win big money that could change their lives
And what does that do for the game as a whole? A few people win money in a tournament most people don’t care about. I get it, Anet seems dedicated to trying to make GW2 PvP a Esport by sinking time and money into these tournaments. However, I’m betting 95% of the player base couldn’t care less. Heck, as seen many don’t even know such tournaments exist aside from the occasional, “Here is a tournament. This message will close when you reload the forum.” messages. I’m guessing most people just reload the page and forget about it.
Well, if ANET is sinking money into it, means there is something worthwhile investing in it.

I used to use Ice Bow, but since rumours of it’s imminent nerfing, I switched to Fire Axe, and yeah, Fire Axe could used a slight buffing, like 10% extra dmg would be nice. I merely use it to stack burning.
But don’t worry, when the PvP people start complaining again, it will be “Nerf Incoming”.
Doesn’t anyone realized that the OP is liking a mass murderer! Even though it is a virtual one.
To me, this is disturbing.
We don’t have 12million players for ANET to do a convention.
I think it is also the way Trahearne was the center of attention while we the players are like his bodyguard which no NPC cares until we beat that Champ dragon or save them and it reflected in the dialogue. Other than that, we players are nothing more than just another character standing there and doing nothing until we are asked by Trahearne or some random NPC to go do this and that.
However, I think they ""FIX"" this situation in HoT. But I will refer judgement until I actually play it the whole story for HoT. But I am hopeful that ANET may just pull it off with HoT. (fingers crossed)
Ebegging in a virtual world. Just like Twitch Ebegging for real money. There will be people like that…..
Just screenshot, report and move on. Let ANET deal with it. or let ANET review if that person is really against TOS or not.
I am PVE only. but I do enter WvW and PvP on occasions. But if the data interpret that I am not a PVE only player, then something must be wrong with the data gathering or the analysis is somehow wrong somewhere.
Add me. I will be glad to join in any runs to any dungeons. Exp or not. I don’t care. I have been in worst fails, so failing at spider at AC is no big deal. :P
Seriously, add me. I will help anyone the best I can.
Been wondering this for 3 years seriously.
We do not pay ANET enough for them to open it.
actually, it’s not the AOE that is not accurate, it’s your ping that is causing you to think that the AOE is not accurate. In fact, you got hit because you were in the circle at the moment you got hit. But as the communication with the server have a delayed timing. I live in ASEAN, my ping is usually 250 to 400 (325-350 avg). And I noticed that I need to dodge early, if not I would still get hit if I dodge as the attack animation is about to hit my char. If I dodge early, I would see the evade coming up, even though on my screen my char is already far away from the circle, but the attack animation of the enemy is just hitting the circle at that moment.
So, stop blaming ANET. It’s the ping that is causing the circle to be inaccurate.
- Lack of transparency (a PTS would be a huge first step)
- General thoughts on balance (specifically your thoughts, so we can engage in a constructive discussion)
- A roadmap (again, more of a “this is what we want to do” / “this is what we see for the future” kinda deal would be awesome!)Arenanet used to be better in those areas, but then the community ruined it.
The best example of this are the 2013 blog post where Arenanet shared the plans about what they WANTED to do in the future, the result was the community started to whine when some of the things was postponed or even cancelled. After that Arenanet have been more careful about what they reveal of their plans.
Anet has bin doing this for 10+ years, it’s more Anet that changed for the worse.
they used to be open, play around with the community and even do in-game events them selves.
better yet, they used to make a video about the upcoming expansion with explanation of what to expect, this gave the community peace of mind.the current Anet is so closed down, we never get a proper preview and big changes are explained in the worst of ways.
they released 2 feature packs and failed horribly, they never explained any of them fully and changed so much without asking the players first of what they think of the change.
their communication towards players is horrible, even in the 5+ years after EotN they communicated better then 6 months after the release of GW2you can blame the community but it starts with Anet, closing down isn’t the solution, communicating properly is key to success.
I don’t think they cared anymore.
That would entail making a lot of new skills. Most likely too much work for too little gain.
+1
I would add that ANET doesn’t have the resources to spare for doing this extra work.
I tell you all what. The way Trahearne was given the role of Marshall and does practically NOTHING but stand there and make decision based on Players feedback is what kills his character.
As for taking credit, I am not bothered by it. He even said as it was all thanks to the players that Zhaitan was defeated. He didn’t tell the whole world it was him that took down Zhaitan. And it was reflected in the ending cut scenes where everyone else acknowledge that you the player is the one that took down Zhaitan.
Now, the think it with HoT, I think Trahearne is actually a mole of Mordremoth that was sent to kill Zhaitan. Mordremoth had already sent Scarlett to wake it up. So, it is possible he also sent Trahearne to make sure the big bad leader of the Elder Dragon is dead before it awakes by Scarlett. Isn’t it weird that Scarlett only appears AFTER Zhaitan is dead? Why wait until Zhaitan is dead? She could have do all this things when Zhaitan is still around, but that would tipped Zhaitan about Mordy’s plan and Zhaitan would have make it’s move first on Mordy.
And it was never mentioned or said that the Elder Dragons are buddy buddy with each other. They may be at war with each other too.
Then bring a group over to do them event to make the waypoints uncontested. You are expecting other people to do it for you? And calling it a bad design just because you can’t waypoint to the location you want, because no one bothered to uncontest them for you?
Seriously? And Orr is supposed to be not a safe place because of the Risen. That is why many of the waypoints of contested to show you that this place is not for the faint hearted.
I have enter dungeons as ranger before, but before it starts, I was asked if I have an elementalist or warrior. I was “forced” to change to my elementalist if not, I guess they probably would have kicked me because of that. sigh.
Most people don’t like rangers because of ranger pets. It’s not the ranger’s pet – it’s the game design that makes it so.
That is why I can’t get any precursor drop from dungeons because I can’t use my ranger to do dungeons. (my ranger is the only one that drops Precursors. 3 times already) No one wants them. And it was before the LFG tool was launched. Now, even WORST. ;P
I main an Ele, so it was no problem getting into dungeons as they love me so much. The only time I got kick was in a Fractals. I was lagging so much, they can’t stand it. Or was it they just wanted to bring in a guildie. Whichever, I don’t really cared. My connection was killing it anyways.

There just isn’t enough information here to know why you’ve been asked. There could have been another ranger already, they wanted the indisputably higher dps and utility of elementalist, the lfg could have pointed out that they needed elementalist.
It was before there was a LFG. :P
And I was the only ranger. :P
We were using the map chat to LFG. It was that kind of time. And they didn’t mentioned they any requirements.

They can a couple of options they can do:
1) Do nothing
2) Add boon duration to gear, which will take the place of one of your stats
2.5) Change boon/condi duration to a formula (like ferocity) and introduce new stat combos3) If they introduce 500 jeweler they can let us craft infusions. +~2% boon/condi duration infusions (personally my favorite solution). Make even more sense if they introduce some kind of base agony through Masteries in HoT
ANET : We…choose….1
I’ve noticed many of the inevitable “Next Expansion” threads and I’ve also noticed they all seem to share one common theme; the next Elder Dragon. While these might be the most clear danger to Tyria, I feel we are forgetting there are more present threats to the individual races, and even the whole of Tyria, that could be explored and, though smaller, would be just as fun as the next ED. These could be in the form of smaller, semi-annual content updates, with a much smaller sticker price, and maybe even no new specializations or masteries getting back toward the vain of a Living World as seen in Season 1.
- The Fire Legion still represents a threat to the Black Citadel. With the loss of Scarlett but with new technology and allies at their disposal, how prepared are the Charr to deal with them on their own?
- The map north of DR could be populated by a Centaur Horde intent on laying waste to the human race. Introduce new siege mechanics and engines. PCs would be tasked with infiltration/assasination and then facilitating peace talks hosted by the Dry Top Centaur.
- The Dredge, also with new Scarlett tech, finally attempt to take down the last living Dwarf. The Durmand Priory must be fortified and hold the line against them.
- The Aetherblades are still out there, somewhere…
- The Underworld is still trying to break through in Godslost Swamp and northeast Kessex Hills. Why? Could Dhuum be awakening after the rising of Orr. Perhaps Zhaitan had been feeding off Dhuum’s weakened energy and now that Zhaitan is gone, Dhuum’s servants are stirring as they hear his call once more. The Undead minions of Orr could slowly be replaced by those servants. Maybe, the rebuilding efforts in Orr accidentally free Dhuum. Could we fight alongside Grenth and try to contain Dhumm once more, or destroy him once and for all?
- The Inquest, again with new Scarlett tech, are at work on nefarious plans throughout Tyria. What’s going on in the labs around Tyria? In the same vain as has been alluded to in HoT, could the pact begin investigations into the Inquest in light of their alliance with Scarlett? Could the PC be sent to the various labs on ‘fact finding’ missions to determine any new threats. A storyline of political intrigue and backstabbing within the Arcane Council could lead to an eventual armed take over of Rata Sum and the Pact are called on to help oust the revolutionaries and the Inquest are finally removed from representation within the Council.
Those are a few of the non-ED story lines I can think of. What further stroies of Tyria would you like to see played out?
Forumers : We want dwagons!
WP: Woohooo!
I will just wait until they balance out everything. Until then, I still will say berserker is still King at the moment because they are killing stuff faster and conditions is just a several seconds slower due to you needing to stack condis on the enemies. Don’t need to do all the bloody match problems to see it.
I don’t think ANET cares about Cursed Shore anymore. Events occasionally bugged out, NPCs that are suppose to start events bugged out…etc…
Actually, defending is less rewarding then retaking the location. Melandru and Grenth are two location that gives better or more loots if you are trying to take it back compared to defending them.
Arah is a mixed bag when defending. But people are QQing in map chat when some people are defending Arah. Then they threaten they will defend Melandru and Grenth so that people will not be able to get more loot from retaking the event until people stop defending Arah.
There are some people who says Arah defending is more rewarding.
Another locatio is Jofast Camp. Players on Map chat are telling other players to let the event fail. And if you managed to def it, then the QQing starts about they just cause the zerg or many players x amount of gold…..etc
This is Cursed Shore. Where many players can’t play how they want to play. Events have to fail so that players can get more loot…etc….
We don’t pay ANET enough for them to take out resources to change the engine. So, unless we are buying 100USD of gems daily for the next 1 year, it will still be the same engine until they start GW3.
Until I stop playing this game, I am going to get the precursor the normal way. Although I already have 2 from the forge which I did not expect, the only one I got “legit” is Venom. The most cheapest pre there is.
Would I be alone in thinking that having a world boss on a timer is really not all that realistic and seems overall as though it holds the bosses back a little. If anything, I think the world bosses would benefit from having maybe 2 or 3 objectives to choose from and an increased range of movement instead of a timer.
Let’s use the Fire Elemental for example, what if its goal was to feed on magical energy and in order to accomplish this it started fighting its way to the heart of the reactor. Maybe as it gets closer it feeds on the chaos shards and generates smaller copies of itself from the fragments which in turn search for more and generate smaller copies of themselves (spreading kind of like a fire I guess). Once it reaches the heart of the reactor what if it found a way to tap into any remaining energy and upon charging up, exploded into a giant fire nova spreading mini fire elementals over half the map to cause chaos with the local wildlife for the next couple hours. Or if stopped, maybe just generating a localized quest to mop up any of the minis in the reactor before they spread.
Or maybe as another example, what if Tequatl’s goal was to defile a Hylek burial site. perhaps it starts off as normal, through the first burn phase and then, what if Tequatl flew east forcing the fight to just outside of one of the Sylvari outposts. Maybe have an improvised mechanic though up by the characters on the fly to keep down the hardened scale numbers and have Tequatl slowly push its way north as it corrupts the local wildlife to keep the players off guard. Culminating in either Tequatl dead or the players in the local area being overrun by undead Hylek streaming out of a tomb who spread out to cause increased problems to the pact/local hylek.
I mean, I know it’s just a thought, but the world bosses would be so much more engaging if they seemed to go about their own plans rather than standing around to die to the PCs on a timer. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the boss fights on occasion, but it does get little boring when the world bosses are relatively stationary and don’t seem to want to pursue their goals in favor of instead being killed by swarms of PCs in the same spot each time. Still, what does everyone else think?
Many people have given suggestions to improve the boss fights in many a forum threads. Even the recent ones before the 100% increase in HP to world boss, forumers have been giving suggestions and ideas about it.
And what did ANET do?
Example (with sarcasm or lack off)
#include (World Boss HP)
HP Teq (int 1000000)
to
#include (World Boss HP)
HP Teq (int 2000000)
That’s it.
If ANET had wanted to do all these cool sounding mechanics that forumers have come up with over the years, they would have done so already. However, we players do not pay them enough for them to make better mechanics.
NPCs at the Mystic Forge….. I had to run to another side to get the F to appear.
errm…. L2P maybe? Condi cleanse in traits….etc…
All my chars hid their helmets because of this. Not that I care. Many of the helmets I don’t like anyways. it’s the body armor and leggings that I like to dress up my char.
never going to happen. It’s been talk to death since GW1……move on. ANET is not going to waste resources to fix something that is not a priority.
The only time you would not be able to get into the main maps with lots of people is when Teq is up or that particular map is in the dailies or the world boss is a daily.
If not, you won’t have trouble finding a zerg at each world boss when they are about to spawn.
Sounds like you’re being shoveled into maps with few players or maps with experienced players.
You only need 3 people per fort to successfully do the entire event. It can actually end up being a lot easier as long as you’re not plagued by overly bad players. You only need 1 experienced player per group to carry them (zerkers can solo breaches and melt lanes).
Players are just melting them.
It was just as fast before the patch, it was just more rare. However, the same group that could do it pre-patch is now much faster post-patch. (when only zerkers show up)
pre patch, I have not seen that much melting. Post-patch, wow, the melting is so fast that on some maps there was like 2mins to go during Breach. And the three WV bosses was long dead before the timer even hit 2mins. Lol. Maybe I was just in maps that people know what the hell they are doing. lol.
ANET should have not mixed the beta with the game in the first place. Lol. Or have a HUGE FAT WARNING IN BOLD DIALOGUE box that appears each time you log into your Rev and you have to type “I understand and accept” before you can continue.
There’s only a warning permanently at the top of your screen the entire time you’re playing….
^This. You already have a permanent warning.
I know, but people sometimes don’t see it. or forgot about it. Or have a constant reminder that you are playing beta, and everything that you get in beta will be deleted.
ANET should have not mixed the beta with the game in the first place. Lol. Or have a HUGE FAT WARNING IN BOLD DIALOGUE box that appears each time you log into your Rev and you have to type “I understand and accept” before you can continue.
I was at SW an hour earlier today, and it was so easy, I just spam 1. Seriously, I don’t usually spam 1, but the bosses health was running down like it was a white mob. Players are just melting them.
Yes there are idiots but getting abused and intimidated all the time? It has never happened to me. Exactly why are people gravitating to you? Do you say a bunch of stupid stuff in chat or something? I’m puzzled.
I am actually puzzled too why he got abused so many times? So far, in the 3 years I have been playing, I only got trolled a few times and once I got screamed at for not rezzing a party member in a middle of a fight between a boss character. Lol.
The Trait Changes did absolutely nothing to hurt your so-called “Build Diversity”.
Go check Metabattle and you’ll see a dozen new builds under just about any category, then come back and say that Diversity’s dead. They culled out or combined a load of traits that were useless (But for some reason forgot the Fall Damage Traits, though I suspect that has something to do with the coming HoT Content.) and streamlined the Specializations something neatly.
Some old combinations no longer work, but in return we’ve gotten an equal amount of new combinations to play around with and test out.
Diversity is the exact same as before. Go ahead, name any profession and Stat combo and I’ll whip up 3 different builds for you, just like that.
if he asked you to name 5 each? or 10 each?
New character has unlocked one trait line slot, I want to switch to another trait line but can’t because used up hero points in the useless trait line by accident but cannot reset to get back limited hero points. This is a broken system, please Fix it ASAP.
Just go collect more hero points. Most of them are easy to get. In fact, it won’t take so much time than just complaining about unable to reset it.
Actually, you should just use what you have and actually strive to unlock all of them. You probably can unlock half if you grab all the hero points on the maps. And the points you get when you level up certain levels.
Hmm, I never really have a problem casting meteor-shower, which is the skill with the longest cast-time in my build. Of course it’s risky and often I have to cancel the cast in order to dodge, but I don’t mind since it’s a high risk high reward skill.
I usually timed it to cast and press 4 to dodge about 75% of the channeling done when there is too much heat. Most of the time the meteor shower would have already been cast. You may lose a few meteor, but it still does the job. Well, unless some noob uses knockbacks. ….. (PvE) btw.
In before the close.
I think you are complaining at the wrong game forum. You should do that at the ESO forum.
Tengu or the Kodan.
But be careful with what you ask though. I am making a prediction based on the storyline told so far.
The Kodan are the minions of Jormag. Jormag send them out to trick the people of Silverpeaks that they are just refuges trying to escape Jormag’s influence. But this is in fact a lie. The Kodan’s are moles and are trying to get the people of Silverpeaks to let down their guard against them and then when Jormag is ready to strike, they all turned on the populations of the Silverpeaks.
Reason : If Mordy could made it’s Sylvari minions all over the Maguuma region, why can’t Jormag do the same with the Kodan? The differences is that the Sylvari’s that was suppose to go crazy around Rata Sum and Caledon Forrest got corrupted by Rolan and Ventari. While Jormag isn’t that stupid and just sent moles/spys out. Since Jormag did not corrupt the Norn’s outright and it actually try to persuade them to join his cause, really tells you that Jormag is smarter than Mordy and Zhaitan combined.
The Tengu seems like a race that was suppose to be playable from the beginning, but probably ANET ran out of time and resources to complete it. So, pity for that.
If this has all been said before i apologize, i’ve only been back in gw2 for 2 days now and havn’t seen any threads about what i’m going to say.
The trait system we have does not work. It is no where near an improvement and it does not allow more diversity in builds. The reasons why are pretty simple so i’m going to list the 3 major issues with it.
1.) Prior to the changes we were allowed to select traits from as many trees as we wanted. Now we are allowed to only select traits from 3 trees. It should be self explanatory on how this hurts diversity in builds and limits what we can do with our characters.
2.) Prior to the changes we were allowed to select traits from any tier at or below where our points where spent. (so if you traited 6 points into one tree you could select 3 traits from the first tier or 2 traits from the 2nd tier) Now we are forced into choosing one trait from each tier. This really hurts diversity in builds since it limits how we can / want to build our characters.
3.) Amount of traits have been reduced / changed / merged / moved. After looking through the traits a lot of it seems like the dev’s just picked traits out of a hat and merged / moved them that way. On top of that some of the traits have been removed which ruins some of the previous builds before these changes. In the end this entire move has really hurt diversity with builds.
The way traits are obtained is a lot more unique than before and i enjoy it. However the way traits work now is disappointing and it has put a huge limit to diversity in this game even more. I realize most everyone just followed the meta prior to these changes but there was at least enough options for players to find ways around the meta while still being successful. With the limit we have now; the meta will be even more popular and forceful on the players which in return is going to make combat even more bland since everyone is going to be using the same builds. For a game trying to promote esports this was a horrible route to take.
#DealWithIt
ANET is never going to change back to the old system nor will be change it again. This system was done so that they can get their eSport PVP up and running. They seriously did not bother to fix bugs on the PvE maps. These bugs that are there since 2 – 3 years ago. Until now you still can see those bugs in the PvE maps. And ANET’s reason for unable to fix these bugs? Because it is complex and hard to fix…yadda,yadda.. Yet they spend their resources on putting up a new trait system that looks great, but the reality is that this new trait system really is all about the balancing workload. Probably no more overtime given when a patch that screws up balance in PvP will be fix during working hours and not extended working hours.
So, seriously, just deal with it. The current system. I know I did. But then again, my main character’s build wasn’t impacted much by the trait system changes as I wasn’t running meta in the first place. So, all good for me.
I like these idea. However, if ever ANET wants to do it, GW2 need another 10 million copies of GW2 sold and have a steady income from the Black Lion Gemstore. If not, I don’t think ANET will throw their resource on such resource intensive infrastructures. Yes, we have done this during Scarlet’s storyline, but that one caused many major problems and it was just a champ farm until they nerf it. sometimes, people may just cause the whole invasion to fail and the region to fall for a long time. What about the low level players leveling and going into a fallen region? They will be dying left right and center and then they will feel the game isn’t fun and quit.
Not very good for the game if new players start quitting because other players can’t be bothered to defend the region due to no incentives to do so. Or because of the Megaserver, some maps succeed in the defending against the invasion, but others “overflow” maps failed. That would be a nightmare.
You mean Lesser Nightmare Pod’s right?
There is only 1 Greater Nightmare Pod, and that’s the one in the middle. The lesser ones I think there is about 15+ per tier event.
My MF pre-cursor dropping Ranger net me 2 from the Mystic Toilet. Sparks and The Hunter
And I got Venom from one of the dungeon chest. I think also from my Ranger.
Then it won’t be a MMO anymore if that was the case. LOL. Are you still thinking about the Ragnarok Private server era????
