My solution:
Remove the boxes.
Make is a closed arena. Forcefield the whole place. Which mean , anyone outside of the zone can’t get in and don’t get credit.
Buff it’s hp by 50%
Immune Poison
Immune bleeding
Add a Armor Scales Stack. Armor will degrade if melee attacks. Once it’s armor is completely degraded. Physical damage x 200% or 300%.
Add a Forcefield stack/boon/whatever it is call where ranged damage do 20-30% less damage.
Add a mechanic for players to remove that forcefield stacks for 10 secs or less for a 200% ranged damage.
I think this jumping puzzle needs to be renamed. “Mesmer’s Keys Jumping Puzzle”.
In before the “Learn to play the game.” crowd comes in.
Many people in this game have are unable to understand that there are hardcore players and casual players. Usually, the hardcore players are the ones that hope the content is hard and challenging, while the casuals hope they can do events as casual or enjoyable.
ANET needs to please one of this crowd. They probably notice that the Hardcore crowd outnumbered the casuals in their metrics, so, guess what type of content ANET will dish out…..
Next attack on LA is expected. Maybe it will be the Karka, maybe it will be the remnants of the Aetherblades, maybe it will be the remnants of the Toxic alliance. Or maybe ALL three…..etc.
No problem. Just give us player a new title. “Legendary Saviour of Lion Arch”
Sweeping a mistake under the carpet?
People remembers though….
Ok so in a recent update traits and skills got a major overhaul. While I like they style I am dismayed at the reduced choice.
….
ANET threw out that motto after launch. Now it’s “Play how we want you to play.”
I think the problem now is people did not get the new trait system. And they are still probably didn’t know about the lost of stats from the traits. Also, they are probably using the wrong armor/weapon stats for their build.
The should rename them Mesmer Jumping Puzzles. As people instead of trying them out themselves, actually asked Mesmers to port them up to the final chest. Sigh…..
TL:dr
Teq need 50% less hp and Total immune to poison and resistances to physical dmg by 50% when there are stacks of Hardened Scales.
Solution: Join TTS guild. I am sure they will managed to kill Teq even with the double HP buff.
Roll back the Double Hp buff.
Solution 1:
And buff Teq hp by 50% to 70%
Add a 360 degree tail spin. 1 in 100 chances. Players hit by tail spin will be launched way back until the other side of the map. Those that dodged are safe. Also putting Blind on Teq also has a chance to trigger the tail spin (Of course before everyone scream OP, tail spin has an animation/channeling time. So that people can prepare to dodge or whatever.) :P
Make Teq immune to:
Poison. (Teq spits poison, naturally should be immune to poison)
Health Siphoning (Are you sure you want to siphon poison health from Teq)
Make Teq have resistances to:
Bleeds (calculated based on how many stacks of Hardened Scales it has on it)
Physical dmg reduced by 50 to 75% (calculated based on how many stacks of Hardened Scales it has on it).
Burn (calculated based on how many stacks of Hardened Scales it has on it)
I doubt the turrets can get Teq’s Hardened Scales down to 0. Even if they did, it would still only be seconds worth of dmg. No enough to faceroll Teq.
Or
Health siphoning will get you stacks of poison that stacks duration.
Solution 2:
Or
More mobs spawn. Champs and elite which are stronger at defend locations, so that more people are needed to def those locations. Less people at zerg location.
If above, then no HP buff.
but Armor Buff instead by 100%.
Immunity to Poison.
Resistance to Physical dmg by 50% if there are stacks of hardened scales.
Resistance to condi dmg by 50% if there are stacks of hardened scales.
Poison ground. Just like a Modrem Thrasher attack, Teq spew poison all around it. Poison stacks intensity and duration. Only can be cleanse by the turrets. That way, the turrets operator also needs to know what they are doing instead of just pressing 2,1,1…and 3,4,5…. or which ever rotation.
Solution 3:
Close arena. Only a certain number of players can enter the area (a bone wall of sort) while others who do not enter the area before Teq arrives will be shut out. That way, don’t need to buff Teq at all. Just Buff it’s condi resistances.
did anyone here asked TTS guild about how to take down Teq post patch? I am sure they would have taken down Teq no problems.
They should increase Teq’s health by just 50% and add condi immunity or resistance.
Teq should be immune to poison and health siphon.
And have a 50 to 75 percentage dmg reduction based on how many stack of hardened scales is on it.
Add a 360% tail swipe at random where players are flung far away. Frequency is like 1 in 1000 or more.
That would be a better solution than giving it HP x 200%
I don’t think doubling the health is a good idea. I suggest that adding resistance and adding special mechanics to the World Boss is much better.
Like
Teq :
Immune to Poison
Resistance to Health Siphon
Damage reduction based on how many stacks of Hardened Scales
On occasion do a 360 Tail swipe.
Eat players.
….etc…
Same thing happened to me at LA JP third stash location.
Me too. I was doing the new JP. And it was weird when I jump down from a platform down into another platform that isn’t even tall enough to activate the falling reduce dmg trait, and guess what? I got 100k+ fall damage!!!! WTF????
And when I was at the third stash, my character suddenly pull out her aquatic weapon. And I was standing NEAR the third stash. I can’t do anything. I was like, WTF again…..
I actually like it. Sure, there is a lack of choice but IMO it improved GW2 for me. The trait lines are more balanced now. And I still have plenty build options. Maybe not the same options as pre-patch, but there are others.
You did lose your old build. And most likely because it was OP. Anet removed the option to exploit the trait system, and gave you some other options instead. So if you want to quit because Anet prevents you to exploit the system, reconsider the thought.
AC for example is fun now! I remember doing fast runs with PUGs that were extremely boring just a week ago. But now AC is harder, and even if you zerk through it, it requires a lot more attention. For example, I never lost an essence collector in P3. Yesterday I did. It immediatly stimulated us to actually defend the machinery, instead of just doing the usual pattern, and spam attacks.
Anet did well IMO. Do not think that “the grass is greener on the other side of the fence”. Because we always seem to think that way, while it’s not always true.
Exploit what system? You mean choosing the trait we want using the old system is considering exploiting if we don’t follow the Meta? You know some people can figure out the most optimal combination of traits, weapons, armor, runes and sigil right? And that is call exploiting the system? What are you on actually?
Don’t get me wrong, I actually like the new system better, but the choices is limited. Which of course doesn’t bother me much as I only concentrated on one thing I want to do during battle. See huge numbers during a battle. So, as with the old system or the new system I will just choose those traits that increase dmg to attacks. And that’s it. It’s a very narrow minded traiting style, but that just me. :P
But seriously, can you give an example of how people are exploiting the old system?
I’m one of those people who doesn’t know too much about SW as I haven’t done much in there. When in a breach for the first time I read ’don’t pop the bubbles’ I swapped tactics so as not to do any AoE damage. We still failed as lots of other people seemed to be just hitting the bubbles.
Always makes me wonder what is happening in the minds of those people who totally ignore advice from players who know how to do an event. I usually imagine they can’t see the chat panel as they are too busy rolling their face across their keyboard while trying to wipe away the drool.
lol. Maybe they are the family cats, dogs or pets that are actually playing the game and they only know how to press 1 and attack anything that moves. No wonder…..
Karka Exterminator Achievement Requiring Night-time Map is Against ArenaNet’s Philosophy of Respecting Players’ Time
I’ve spent the past hour scouring LFG for players on a night-time map, along with many others. This is ridiculous. We want to play the game, not sit around waiting for the sun to set.
You know what I did while waiting? Do that stupid ridiculous no checkpoint JP that punishes you if you did not concentrate enough when you are jumping from platform to platform.
People should be crying about this, not condi damage…
The noise from the condi dmg is too loud for ANET to hear about the downscaling thing. Pity, and I thought ANET “Listens” to their player base.
Just nerf burning by 66% and everyone will probably shut up.
Did ANET know about the quickness duration?
One thing I am worried about is that ANET will not read everything that the players about complaining about and go for the jugular before identifying the victim first. Hence, after balancing everything, only then they realized they missed the small details that is the real cause of the issue and not the noise that is overshadowing it.

First time I joined SW after patch the red breach boss died in under 30 secs, I’m not joking, it literally melted. And the rest of the bosses took around the same time, I think indigo took the most at around 60 secs. There is no excuse to fail the breach or VW now.
Same for Tequatl, died with 10:13 mins to spare.Imo stuff needs to be balanced when it comes to these events, haven’t tried the rest.
Then you must camp at SW more. Because Indigo is the most frequent fails on avg.
From my experience with a full map (not those last minute TAXI people in maps), Indigo is the one people try to worry if they don’t see the yellow announcement after the timer hits 1:59mins.
I have been in a few maps that 3/5 Breach. Surprisingly, Indigo score it first. It was Amber and Blue that failed. LOL.
Then there is the Husk that failed at 1%. I was there on one occasions because people AOE too much and not enough condi dmg.
VineWrath is even hilarious.
There was once all 3 failed in one go. Everyone was QQing in map chat. Everyone wiped. LOL. Duck Wing Duck got 9 person went in, Ended up I was soloing it until I got splattered on the floor. I was loling very hard reading map chat QQing each other about “Noobs should learn the mechanics and not just press 1”… something like that.
Once South Failed miserably that Mid and North completed everything. and the QQing starts again in map chat. Lol again.
The most memorable was when I got taxi in to a map 0/3, 14/15. It was a fail waiting to happen. Guess what? That map pulled off a comeback to get 3/3, 14/15. We were like, “How did that even happened?” “Greatest comeback ever!”
I heard it around the lobster area. Try getting on top of the JP, some area in the lobster area you can hear it.
The Tengu’s were already there from DAY 1 launch day. They ran into their area when Scarlet attacked. If you got near the gate during the Scarlet invasion, they will arrow storm you that hits like 10k plus damage..
At the moment it has not impact my Ele that much because of my ele’s build is a hybrid build. But I am waiting for the nerf hammer to come down first before changing equipment.
The new trait system is decent. I won’t say it is great. But it is easier to set the traits you want without moving points from here to there.
Heard it to. Guess Tyria needs the Doctor to save them. Not us.
Suggestion : when doing JP, skills are disable. (Elite jp) for you,.
I usually wait for the portal to go away. Since unlike you who is impatience, I have all the time to wait for a second portal or wait for the trolls to go away.
B+ for me. As some like the timing one is a pain when the gun has a channel time and flight time.
SW been there for a long time, people know what to do.
Seriously? I have been maps that failed Breach. Especially Indigo when players pop the bubbles because it is a target. And map chat was already telling people NOT to pop the bubbles. Also they are people there telling people during the fight NOT to pop the bubble when the boss are not near it. Guess what? Breach failed.
VineWrath…
Every time someone at map chat will tell everyone there about the mechanics of the fight for the VW champs. It’s not because they want to look cool. They want the event to not fail.
Guess what again. Beekeeper WIPED because not enough people were making the beehive shield. Failed.
In another instance, Thrasher boss. No one cast reflects. Only 1 mes and Me cast reflection skills. Guess what? FAILED again.
Have you seen people fail Duck Wing Duck? I have been in one. Because people don’t know to pop the triggerbloom to stand on top of it. Most of them are dead and refuse to waypoint out to downscale. Failed again.
I have been in VW maps that failed all three in a single go. And I saw people in map chat telling everyone how the mechanics for the boss.
So, you tell me if people in SW knows about how to fight the bosses there.
Oh, and I am one of the cool ones, because I always tell about the mechanics of how to fight the boss in map chat. :P
QQ about QQ,
Makes sense :’)
On a serious note: Anet actually need the “QQ” (Aka feedback), to get a most vaste note of what is working, and what is not. Agreedly, some are out of sense, but it is still fedback of how players are responding to the changes.
Start to care when QQ disappear, amongst with the number of players playing.
Well, you can see what happened to another NCSoft published MMO. Wildstar. Only 1 year in and it is now going to be F2P. And from the youtubers who stream Wildstar videos, they are saying the game is as bare as it gets. One even say 90% of his guild did not even logged in for months! 6 to 9 months…..
Errmmm…. didn’t some of you all realize that you all are throwing one of the most valuable items in the game right? 250 ectos is like hours of my time farming world boss/orr and SW. Why would you even consider using it to get something that could give you random stuff?
I would rather use it to make Legendaries or keep them.
I have 1 part the of key still on my Ele…. just don’t have they other parts though….
Awesome. Now ANET will inviswall the whole Aerodome, just because they can.
Lol. that video…. awesome stuff…. that is long past…sigh…. well, if anyone seen the NPC in Lion Arch please tell me. ingame or here. Thanks.
Just don’t go to the NPC. No one is forcing you to go there and drop 250 ectos + a gazillion gold.
I went there once to see what was it all about, I just couldn’t be bothered with it. If other players want to gamble their way in the game, let them. They will find out soon why gambling is not a profitable as they think. They may have spreadsheets telling them they have profit this much and that much, but in reality, they probably can’t see they are having a net lost or something like that.
the problem is that it’s a very bad idea to announce htings before you’re absolutely sure. Having to change an announced plan is seriously bad mojo.
Peter Molyneux cycle right?
This only proves that ANET is actually making this expansion up as they go and don’t have a concrete plan or a framework for it. If they had a framework for it, they won’t have a problem with announcing what they are up too and when it will come out, but as they don’t have the framework, how do you expect them to tell you what they had plan for HoT? Plans sometime change during development when you don’t have a proper framework up. That I my guess that ANET doesn’t have one proper framework for HoT!. :P
Just nerf the dmg by 50% and ANET would solved most of the problems now.
When things changes, human nature is always trying to resist changes. Because people don’t like to get out of their comfort zone. And these is why people are raging about it.
Ok, you see the conditions at world bosses or whereever – would you like to have these condis used on you?
I don’t think so but it is happening in wvw as wvw has got the same rules like pve, justthat they forget about that game mode most of the time. And that is the issue – I don’t care if you guys melt world bosses in seconds.
That’s a problem for ANET to solve. There are the ones that forgotten about it. Or I should say ANET did not expect it to be this OP in a PvP/WvW environment. My guess is they were to fixated on the PvE side, they forgot about the PvP/WvW side. Let them figure this kitten out.
On the question on the condis used on me. Pre-patch, I also got like 5 to 6 condis hits on my guardian in a split second. I was down before I could do anything. That’s in a zerg vs 2 huge zerg thingy. So, I know about it. Now I can imagine it would take like less than a split second for you to be down before you can even press your first skills. I can imagine that.
Just me saying.
I firmly believe that some parts of the game need not be completed by everyone. I think the game is vast enough that there should be a few things that are “hard mode” or “elite” — they needn’t have special rewards, so JPs are a great place for these sorts of things.
Some JPs, like Silverwastes, offer a lot of support for those who aren’t as skilled. Others, like Mad King or Wintersday are timed. Still others have a lot of very difficult, precise jumps. I think a variety is good for the game and the community.
Still, I’d prefer to see the JPs in LA be more accessible rather than less. And, actually, I think Troll’s Revenge is very accessible…for a really hard puzzle.
I have done almost all the JP’s. The only ones I couldn’t finished previously was the Winter’s day one because my computer is running on low settings (old computer) and the Mad King’s tower because I was using an even older computer and has input lag. Now with a new computer, I have done every JP there is.
This one however, I have a problem with the standboxes on the lobster area. This JP should be easy if the standboxes are exactly as you seen on screen. But it is now at the moment. So, a slight deviation when you land on the platform or ropes, or strings or bars, and you will fall.
Another is, you must be one of those elites who can do superhuman feats in GW2, so good for you. But stop saying that some things in the game should be for the elites only or have a hard mode. If you want hard mode, go play Dark Souls. :P
ANET just need to tweak the standboxes, because some of them are very small, smaller than the thing you are standing on.
Let ANet figure out how to balance the condi dmg and stop stressing them to change it again. A lot of people were complaining about how useless condi-dmg was before and now that we finally got what we wished for the rageing just starts all over again… annoying.
And about PvE: You want challenging content? Then go for it, but don’t expect white mobs or even champions in the normal map enviroment to be something special, they never will be due to the simplistic skill system gw2 has. Instead go for fractals, story achievements or liadri the next time she’s aviable – and i bet the majority of you won’t ask for challenging content again.
When things changes, human nature is always trying to resist changes. Because people don’t like to get out of their comfort zone. And these is why people are raging about it.
Anyways, you will see that when ANET nerf condi-dmg, everyone will go back to the old meta just because it will still be the meta that does the most efficient dmg and fastest to kill bosses.
So, there is no point in investing in condi-dmg equipment as ANET will nerf it to kingdom come.
The reason is that balancing physical dmg vs condi-dmg is not easy. How would you define what is the best balanced between them? Just like now, condi-dmg is taking down world boss like they are Elite mods. The Vets and elites almost got 1hit ko by condi-dmg. And the whites? I don’t even know what to say about the whites, as my ele was plowing through them like they are ambient creatures.
A balance it needed, but which one? Buff mobs or Nerf the condi-dmg? ANET is having a headache right now about this, I hope they don’t break the condi-dmg thing too much, if they did, then there is no point in this patch actually. They might as well just revert back to the old system and everyone will be happy, Well, at least the old meta people will be happy to go about their business while the condi people will rage on some more as usual.
Sigh…
We know he survived the attack on LA. But I failed to find him in New LA. Has anyone seen him?
I am so sorry, but the berserker’s outnumber you all 1000 to 1. Guess who ANET is going to listen to?
Anet is a fair company. I have faith in them and they will listen the condi players too like the phisical users
Since when ANET is a fair company? Since GW1? Their treatment of ELEs is just one prove they don’t treat anything equally. So far, I have never seen any fair treatment from ANET the so-called fair company.
Actually, the SW one is much easier to get back to if you fall to your death. After a while, you can get back to where you fell quite fast once you know how to get there, without paying KIT that 1gold or silver.
But this one in LA is a pain. The platform standboxes are quite small, that even if you think you should be standing on it, you will fall even though on screen you are suppose to be able to stand on it. I find that the steps that you use to jump on top the lobster area the standbox is quite small and you must be every exact on where you land. Slight off, and you will fall, even though you are suppose to be standing on it.
I think ANET just need to tweak the standboxes a bit, and you won’t need checkpoints or Mesmer to do this jp.
I am really not too keen to bring out my mesmer to do a jumping puzzle. Just like some jumping puzzle that makes you frustrated just because the standbox is so small, just a slight movement, and you will fall to either your death or to an area you can get back out and have to portal out or run back to the start.
I am so sorry, but the berserker’s outnumber you all 1000 to 1. Guess who ANET is going to listen to?
hold off getting other equipments for condi build until ANET nerf the hell out of the condi meta, then only consider if you want to invest in the condi meta after the berserker’s are happy their meta is not under threat from the condis.
Look I can’t do one of these 3 page post with lots of graphs, numbers, and charts. But I think I can keep it short and get he point across.
We liked it more, it had more diversity, and this one just isn’t really that much fun to explore.
That’s all I got. I know it likely won’t happen but……..
Tell me where WAS the diversity in the old system? Everywhere you see, people using the same build for many players. They don’t even read the traits at all. Only people telling them 6/6/0/0/6 or 0/0/6/6/6…etc and they just follow it blindly.
I find that the new system is much more better. At least you can tailor your traits to your liking. And if you have the knowledge about the traits, you can switch it when OOC during a battle without removing points here just to fill in points there just like the previous system.
my .1 cent.
