Erm…
Like some have mentioned. WvW is not as interesting as portrayed, some of my members in my guild are not incline towards WvW as it is boring and not as attractive compared to the other forms of PvP deployed in the MMORPGs they have played.
By saying that, we must embrace the fact that Guild Wars 2 is a game designed for casual in mind, casual players dislike difficulties and will violently put down any forms of difficulties as absurd or kittened. On other hand, the “core” (a term defined by Iwata, CEO of Nintendo) and “hardcore” prefer challenging contents with appropriate rewards.
Again, like some who have noticed, WvW is a place where much ego gathered and removal of the matchup forums strike a heavy blow towards the only few emotions that made players play WvW. So, is WvW really that fun? That is something the anet team need to analysis. Most people stop playing WvW after an hour or two, why does these people stop playing after an hour or two while there are people who can play WvW the entire day? What are the different in term of emotions these people have?
Personally, I usually couldn’t play WvW for more than 2hours, even if there are bags dropping everywhere, the kill counts keep going up. I don’t find the excitement or enjoyment that can last more than an hour or two, I couldn’t understand how people can continue playing WvW every hour on daily basis without fail. Perhaps, I get bored much more easily compared to others. However, I do think that the WvW is badly designed and is just created to satisfy a group of certain type of players in order to reach a greater market share.
Lastly, EOTM is nicely designed, it does give off castle siege feelings. The designers might have knowledge of castle sieges in other MMORPGs.
We have a quite a few in Crystal Desert.
From my understanding, mag does not have any asia guild and they are looking for asia guilds to transfer to them.
Recruitment
We are still recruiting! We have a almost-indiscriminate recruiting policy except for guild hoppers and super duper casual players (logon once per month).
We are looking to fill up our slots with players from all timezone!
it will be hard to find a correlation that having ascended gears in wvw is necessary when numbers alone is capable of shadowing everything
A thief can let you know pretty quick in less than bis gear. :P
apologize for the slow editing..
but is just like what Suddenflame.2601 has said, is a group vs group scenario and not a roaming scenario…
in such a scenario, the players taking up the aoe dps role may have themselves equipped with full ascended gears but it will still be difficult to determine the significance of ascended gears in wvw
of course, if one belong to the top elite wvw team that require all participants to have full ascended gears, applied strength, applied fortitude, buffs, food and etc, i believe the combinations will have a significant impact in wvw
it will be hard to find a correlation that having ascended gears in wvw is necessary when numbers alone is capable of shadowing everything, not to forget the skills and coordination
nice glow! thumbs up
In summary…
RNG or grind or what-so-ever is a choice and not a necessity.
The reward from the RNG or grind or what-so-ever is not equivalent to the efforts put in but then again, it is a choice and not a necessity.
it is a easy all-rounder class
generally all other classes require certain level of skills and knowledge which many players lack of, but warrior do not require great skills or knowledge to perform decent dps
I like specialized classes, it encourage better teamplay, much better teamplay than what gw2 is having now.
gw2 is trying too hard; balancing the combative power between classes and attempt to realise their idea of trinity. if gw2 give up their pursue of esport and focus what is more important in gaming, gw2 might have matured better.
Equinox Solstice [TIME] is a semi-hardcore PvX guild based in the Crystal Desert server and was established on 18th February 2013, with the aim of fostering interest in all aspects of the game, by creating a robust guild community. Through this robust guild community that we are trying to create, we hope to realise a guild where members will find themselves in a vibrant environment which allow you to reach out all forms of gameplay the game can provide.
We have 100+ active players from SEA and 100+ active players from NA/EU. We perform guild missions twice a week to minimize the number of members from being left out due to inconvenient timing. We also have guild buffs running 24 hours.

Some of the posts here are comparing apple with orange.
It is weird to think in only one perspective. Why can’t people see it the other way round. It is not that warrior is strong but the other (specific) classes are underpowered.
To give a proper example.
A mesmer can damage and kill a ele, fast enough.
A warrior can also damage and kill a ele, but not that fast enough.
A mesmer and warrior can have a almost even fight where reactions and targeting become critical aka players skills.
So, right now TS is saying healing signet is overpower but if that is the case, then even fight shouldn’t exist. Warrior should be able to kill every classes of any builds with EASE. Yet, that isn’t really the case, there are classes where warriors will have difficulties dealing with.
One dont simply fix something by breaking other things.
There is a role in this game you are playing the role of DPS.
i lol-ed at this
but that does makes sense, it weird to twist the meaning of RPG.
you are taking the role of the character. what does this role do? you, as a character, go around completing dungeons, maps, goals and etc. that is RPG
but TS wanted more, TS want a virtual life in a virtual world where actions or words can only be seen or heard just like in the reality.
i dont understand it. i dont understand how by doing these will let you feel being part of the world, is not real.
Up for fellow CD guild!
i see….
this is the reason
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1vharm/ready_up_livestream_notes/
I dont really keep up with the updates except the official patch so…
what with the number of threads about..
WvW and PvE.
Zerk nerf…
Crit nerf…
etc…
how new MMO players see things is what really confuse me.
gw2 simply breakdown the open-world concept into pve and pvp (aka your wvw).
anet is simply bad in balancing things, designed classes that are hard to be balanced yet still seeking for teamwork aspect when trinity concept is thrown away
Got this bug for my puzzle….
anet…please stop the living story and focus on bug fixings…
so many bugs not fixed for so many months
Why not ask anet to have a total revamping of classes and revival of trinity system?
When that happen, I am sure people will complain about bad tanks and healers.
I think is still bugged.
Nvm….is only “one” bolt, so is nerfed i guess.

i don’t see guild house or player housing (accessible to everyone) coming to the game any time soon…
the map designs are not for guild house or player housing in mind…
it is sad to say that gw2 is like a online version of single player RPG.
It’s silly that an MMO from 1997 with a dozen developers originally could come up with something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbU6c6d1GC0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FztPLlnOnhkand we still don’t have custom housing.
How bad I want a successor to Ultima Online.
Housing inside the game world
Drop items on the ground and interact with them everywhere you want (no other MMO has that as far as I know)
No instances
No levels
Sandbox
Good crafting system
No soulbound, trade everything
No classses, use skillpoints to build a character from 50+ skills any way you like
Unique, one of a kind items
there were a few games like that but it isnt very profitable…
when a company make a game, it is all about profit and how to reach a broader audience
Can TS tell me how many MMOs have you played? It sounds to me that you played only a few MMOs.
Personally, guild exist for many reasons and part of the reasons is social interactions. I like the competitiveness of open-world MMO because it give a sense of importance your guild and your guild mates are. It create opportunities to go beyond the superficial friendships, to real life friendships which is why there exist couples who were just game mates initially.
The population did drop, it is a normal trend. There are servers in which is busy because most people decided to transfer and stack it up. There are servers which are less busy because those are the leftovers. So, when a new player join a server and you happen to join a non-busy server, it will seems like the game is less populated especially when we have no idea how Anet classified a server as “Very High population”.
Generally, most games go down hill after a year. Gamers always like playing new stuffs.
The existence of trinity in a way is a good thing. It force people to play as a team and I think that is really good for MMO. Taking away that and giving everyone the ability to solo, it kinda take away people’s chances to interact with people and thus people seems more apart. The game actually became less connected.
The game does get boring, been playing a year and still playing it because of my guild. I have experienced everything possible. There is something missing in this game, maybe the way it segregated PvE, PvP and WvW have make the game feel so lost in direction and there is no sentiment attachment to anything (game wise). It is lacking the feel of MMORPG.
6 months ago it isn’t fix, still not fix now.
There is too much to read so I didn’t read through everything in detail.
I have seen some suggested a very complicated commander system.
Initially, much of the complains about the squad is that it isn’t useful. Generally, majority of the players expected it to be similar to a party system but instead able to host more players. Unlike the party system, the commander naturally is the leader of the squad, one will have the ability to invite people to the squad and also kick people out of the squad.
I believe many also requested for raid dungeon, basically a dungeon which host plenty of players and I believe the squad can be used for that as well, which can also justify the gold for purchasing it.
The minimum expectation of a squad system is that players of the squad should be able to see the squad members’ locations just like how you can see the party members’ location. Likewise, a UI of members (classes and status) within the squad.
Of course, a squad should impose a maximum number of players to prevent any form of abuse and instil a certain standard.
Also, the option to remove tag from the map (for non-squad members) for privacy reason.
Since there will be times when there are many commander tag on the map, it will be nice to have a different marker color for the squad you have joined.
Lastly, the squad system can be build upon existing party system but not necessary. For example, combining several parties together to form one squad.

I think the hammer and longbow nerf are too much. The nerf seems to be targeting sPvP more than anything else. It doesn’t seems to have anything to do with PvE or WvW.
First with the stun duration fix in the sigil. Now, a damage nerf. The amount of CC hammer can provide isn’t significant in WvW, the damage and CC are what make it attractive. By taking that away, the logical concept of melee should deal higher damage than range became blurred.
Longbow is known to be effective in PvE due to its high AOE damage, it is truly amazing. A nerf in that due to sPvP is going to affect how warrior perform in PvE, especially in high level FOTM when come to killing a number of mobs.
strait’s karma train not as profitable?
I do not know how the population is imbalance.
If the players limit for each map is equal for all participating server, then the it should be balanced thus the problem lies in the population of WvW participants of the different server.
In such a case, it is rather hard to balance the world population. One method that I think might work is data mining to determine the average number players and have all the servers with the same number of participants paired up, fighting each other. However, this method too has its flaw because WvW is 24 hours ongoing battle. It is extremely hard to balance this. Even there might be a chance to balance it, there will be a odd server out.
In this case, I believe the better method is to promote better rewards for WvW, thus encouraging more people to come. Also, renovate the WvW map to be more interesting and more important to the extend that it will influence the PvE environment.
The current WvW is repetitive and is nothing but a larger sPvP environment of capturing buildings instead of points. From a gamer’s POV, there isn’t anything unique about WvW. The lost of WvW also does not affect the server to a huge extend thus people will never see the needs to go WvW.
What I am gonna suggest might change guild wars 2 from a casual into a more hardcore game but it will make WvW becoming part of the game instead of being a feature of the game.
Firstly, merge all the maps into one mega big WvW map. There will be borderland areas and battleground area. During reset time, all servers will have to break out from the borderland areas and proceed towards the battle ground areas. This will make the battle more realistic, proper defense and offense strategy have to be derived if any server want to invade the inner borderland.
Secondly, by merging the maps will make borderland seems extremely hard to be invaded because there are three servers. Thus, a incentive should be given to server who manage to break into the borderland and that is to allow them to invade the server itself and pillage the land. Of course, this might be too much for gw2’s gameplay thus certain type of reward can be given, like the entire server given certain reward like ascended mat? The server who got invaded should be penalized, perhaps imposing sales tax for buying and selling for limited time?
I will rather it to be a additional reward than a total replacement.
Too bad you looking for PvE…..
Else I would contact you…
But my guild is PvX and getting more incline to WvW, we do have a few high levels FOTM and we still do dungeons but we just not pure PvE.
