The ppt system is the biggest problem with wvw right now. The way winners are determined needs to be redone. Holding an objective that nobody is trying to take shouldn’t count for anything. Give points for capturing, upgrading, and defending, not for having such a big force that nobody is fighting you.

Also towers and keeps should go invulnerable during EU times on NA servers and vice versa. Same for Asian times when those servers open up.

I never mention the whole buying guilds thing because I wouldn’t care if BG had brought entire guilds. But even assuming just for the sake of argument that they did, the game lets people do this and if you have a problem with it blame Anet for designing a system in which it’s how you win, not the people who took advantage of it the best. Especially when there is no server that hasn’t tried to beat BG at this game.

It was pretty funny though when SoR posters said stuff like “we don’t buy guilds, we just cover the costs for some that can’t pay!” and BG/JQ posters stared at them like. …what do you think buying guilds means? I think the whole thing is kind of dumb and reeks of tryhard failure but I can’t imagine anything more of waste of my time than complaining about how other people spend their money.

All I know is when we fight BG I log in to no queue and good fights on every BL, so whatever it is they do to chase away our zerg please keep it up.

That’s a good point, perhaps they can give them yaks generic player tags when enemies click on them, like (server name defender) because they occasionally fight and then put yak below that or you could give yaks ranks by the number of deliveries they successfully complete, so you could potentially have

All the league did was increase the number of matches that were boring and not competitive. No more leagues until we fix how the winners are determined or parity between servers (free guild transfers to lower ranked servers…an actual guild transfer process…)

Well, I wouldent consider SoR a tier 1 server anymore either. At least not with the showing from this week. I’ll just leave that up to the HUGE amount of fairweather that no one seems to want to admit to, but it seems we have two 1.5 tier servers as of right now. Either way it was close all week long, and we had fun with it.

All of the T1 servers are like this. It wasn’t that long ago people said the same thing about JQ and BG. If JQ or BG had lost so many times in a row they would have half the numbers showing up too. Just by way of example, when JQ is fighting T2 servers we have hours long queues on every map. When we fought BG we were outmanned by Thursday, first time I’d seen that bonus since before league started. If JQ had lost four weeks in a row we might be in the same spot as SoR right now. Probably not as bad because JQ is more resilient and there are a lot more people on JQ that roam in small groups and don’t really care what the ppt is whereas SoR are lost without their blob and more of them seem to only play to win, but the effect would be pretty similar.

On the plus side for SoR, this sort of result tends to make all the fair weather zerglings transfer off which leaves the server tougher and tends to improve their overall performance quite a lot, so then they climb to the top and attract all the fair weather zerglings and then their quality is watered down, this is the cycle WvW has gone through over the past year and I don’t see it changing anytime soon unless Anet changes how the winner is determined.

Yeah, so strange the number of people saying ’we’re all taking a break’ when they lose is about the same as the people saying ‘lolol we crush you baddies gonna farm you out of tier 1’ when they’re winning. Bad winners and poor losers. JQ only wins badly, as demonstrated above. Probably because we have more experience losing in T1 than most other servers. Builds character you see, just not for those who don’t show up when we’re losing.

The problem with SoR, and I think many TC players feel this way, is you always talked smack about us and never gave us any credit for being a good server.

They do this to everyone. If they win it’s because they are the master race and blah blah. If they lose its because they weren’t really trying. Just ignore them like everyone else does.

There are lots of servers that do just fine during NA. If they’d turn off the ppt during off hours we’d all be a lot closer in score. But i’ve been beating that dead horse since 2012….

WvW is really boring. It’s easy to look past it’s flaws when you’re winning because the fun is in winning. But once you look at it from the perspective of a server that’s outnumbered on every map almost every hour of the day, it’s really kittening lame.

You either turtle in your towers with 25 arrow carts or you die over and over again. Neither one of those options is even remotely fun.

I used to always complain about TC turtling/no showing versus us but now I understand. Let me apologize to every TC player I’ve ever talked kitten to, you were just doing what you had to.

Honestly, I’d rather bang my head against a wall than play against BG or JQ at least that way I wouldn’t be so bored.

I’d just like to quickly thank JQ and SOR for their lovely bag donation last night. 6 hours of commanding on SoR BL, I think we wiped both blobs about 20 times each during their relentless assault on bay. Ended up with a bay WP and 40+ heavy loot bags by the end of the night, so thanks.

Don’t be mad at BG for playing the coverage game better than anyone else. It’s what WvW in this game is, and if you want to be #1 you have to recruit and fill in off hours spots.

I think being annoyed at Anet for making this dumb system is legit, but not at BG for being the best at it. It’s especially hypocritical coming from JQ and SoR who have played that game a lot in the past.

I wish it wasn’t the case but unless Anet looks at the silliness that league devolved into and decides to actually make NA matter in determining who wins a matchup this is the game you play folks, either come to peace with it or quit.

JQ/SoR don’t have the off hours coverage to match BG. Over the weekend when hours don’t matter so much BG/JQ were deadlocked and JQ took the lead. Then once the weekday started and off hours matter more BG takes more and more of a lead and eventually it becomes insurmountable.

If you focus on just the ppt, it looks like the server isn’t competing, but if you log on during NA JQ regularly rolls BG and vice versa. The NA matchup is alawys fun, but it has very little to do with who wins. I don’t know if SoR has the same thing going on haven’t seen them since week 1. Probably so.

BG is going to win because they have the best coverage. Just like every match that has ever happened in WvW has been won by the team with the best coverage. As a JQ player this great for me because our WvW queues have gone from 1 hour+ to non-existent. Maybe I will even see my good friend outmanned bonus again. Haven’t seen him since before league started.

Agreed. People who did high level fractals actually did something difficult to earn that rank. Unlike, say, people with high wvw rank or lots of gold. Pretty much the only difficult thing in the game and people are punished for doing it. Terrible decisions Anet.

We can safely assume that JQ/SoR/BG is going to beat any other server, and that TC is going to beat SoS/Mag. If there are any upsets then all of this changes.

Week 5:
SoR v TC v Mag : SoR will get 5 points by placing 1st over TC, who will get 3 points for placing 2nd, over Mag who gets 1

BG v JQ v SoS : match point for BG. If JQ wins, they’re still in the running, if BG wins the league is pretty much over other than the fight for 2nd and 5th place. SoS will get 1 point for third place finish. Will be interesting to see if BG’s coverage is enough to beat JQ’s as soundly as SoR’s. Do these three servers need to be together to truly be happy?!? The rest of the world certainly wishes they would stay together, but what will JQ and BG decide?!? How will SoR feel about being left out?!?Tune in week five to find out!!

Week 6:
BG v SoS v Mag : BG 5 points, SoS and Mag will get 3 or 1 (not sure who wins this tbh, not sure either will try for that matter)

JQ v SoR v TC : This will be a hard fought matchup. SoR doesn’t have the coverage issues with JQ they do with BG and TC will potentially play a strong spoiler. Is the Dolyak parade ready to show some teeth (a rather disturbing thought)?? Is there an upset in the making due to TC’s chance at a third place victory if SoR loses this? Will a 2v1 emerge or will honest competition rule the day?!?!? Stay tuned!!!

Week 7:
JQ/BG/SoR – finally, after a long long drought everyone’s favorite three way is back. This is still anyone’s game, although it will be interesting to see if the potential winners will play into 2v1 scenarios, or if all three servers will just play to crush whoever is in their way. The rest of the world can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the three megablobs collapse into their own little singularity again. But will they cause lag so bad that even other matchups will be effected?!? Will the time apart have changed them?!? Are these not the servers that spent so many happy days in the summer together anymore?!? Has JQ forgiven the 2v1 from week 1?!?! Will their commanders stop blaming everyone else for their own boneheaded decisions?!? Does SoR feel betrayed by BG’s constant thrashings after working together, or did they enjoy it?!? Have they been playing possum this whole time and preparing to catch us all off guard?!? Will BG wait until the final moment to bring in their newly brought guilds from the past to retroactively make themselves the winners of every matchup that has ever occurred?!? The thrilling finale, only in week seven of Gold League!!!!

TC v. SoS v. Mag – TC will get five points, SoS/Mag will get 3/1. TC will dance around in Dolyak form a lot.

By server:

BlackGate controls its own destiny. If BG wins either week 5 or 7, BG will win comfortably. Even if BG comes in 2nd week 5 they will still win if they place above 3rd in week 7, or if JQ does not win week 7. The only scenario in which BG does not win…

Jade Quarry has to win week 5, week 6, and week 7 AND BG come in third week 7 to win the league, if BG finishes 2nd (or JQ 2nd and BG third), they will tie for 1st. If JQ loses to BG week 5 AND SoR week 6, then week 7 will determine if JQ or SoR places 2nd. In any other scenario JQ will finish 2nd.

Sanctum of Rall can’t catch BG at this point, but can come in second if JQ loses to BG week 5, SoR beats JQ week 6, and SoR finishes ahead of JQ week 7. A tie for 2nd could occur if JQ loses to BG week 5, beats SoR week 6, and then SoR comes in first and JQ comes in third week 7.

Tarnished Coast is pretty much guaranteed to finish with 21 points, which may actually be a tie for third if SoR loses to JQ week 6 and comes in third week 7. Otherwise this is 4th place.

Maguuma & Sea of Sorrows will be determined by weeks 6 and 7. If the same server beats the other both those weeks that server will get 5th and the other 6th. If they split they will end tied for 5th.

This seems like a completely reasonable compromise to me.

So, for example, if you have a total of 100 ranks across all of your guys you can choose to spend 100 points on one, or 50 each on two, or break it down however you like. This punishes you for having alts (satisfying anet’s goal) and lets you make use of all your points on one guy if that’s what you want.

It is rather frustrating that they are using this awesome world rich with great lore and wonderful locations and we get “Ummmm … I guess some rando did it” as our exposition.

There are ascended weapon chests that can drop from:

- WvW rank chests
- Guild Missions
- Tequatl
- Champ bags

They are very rare though.

40 in T1 is something like a mid-size roaming group. Definitely not a blob.

T1 groups of this size are usually suitable for a wide range of smaller scale activities including:
PVD on paper towers
Flipping camps
Taking Buttlust points (1 at a time)
Engaging solo roamers head on
Chasing down solo roamers
Grub
Tree grub

Haha SoR roamers are just zerglings that fell behind. They make JQ look like a server of 1v1 specialists. But that’s always their line when they lose. Cry when they lose, chest thump when they win, bad sports all around.
