With Rocket Boots and Elixer S ( utility AND toolbelt!) you have plenty of escapes. Shield also gives you a block, a daze, a reflect, and a knockback, plus the blast you mentioned. The rifle works but I prefer the shield.
Note: that’s rabid with nightmare runes, knight with pack runes, carrion with aristocracy, soldier with melandru, and dire with antitoxin. I’m planning on putting Holbraek on my celestial armor when it’s done. Good stuff.
Engi is the most versatile and fun class in the game. There isn’t a meta for engi in WVW though. Engi can play power, hybrid, and full condi grenades, plus bomb frontline and flamethrower frontline. That’s just for zerg – there are plenty of roaming setups too! I carry with me sets of Rabid, Carrion, Dire, Soldier AND Knight armor so I can switch out on the fly. Working on full celestial too. An engi’s gotta have his tools
I run a hybrid backline grenadier with my guild and I love it. It works great! I actually posted a build on Metabattle about it. Take a look at it and see if you like it: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Engineer_-_Carrion_Zerg_Grenadier
I personally suggest adding rabid to proc more on-crit traits like sharpshooter and perhaps crit sigils but the trade off is up to you. The cool thing about engis is that we are flexible
Question though: why perplexity? I thought perplexity falls off in large fights bc the effects are single target.
it does, and thats why i wasnt actually recommending it, cuz youre trying to spend all your time in a zerg. its stronger than every other condi rune set. but 15 secs of more might is fine damage when you hit 5 targets often and your only interrupts are on shield/crate. you need to add in 1~2 more to really be able to make use of the confusion and outpace enemy clears, which would really hurt the survivability youre only getting from utilities.
Oh, I misunderstood you then. I added the torment sigil to the Metabattle page as an option, by the way. Good call!
ArchonWing, I added dire armor as a more defensive option too. Thanks!
its good youre justifying your decisions with rational thought, but… thats my advice. im only picking out a couple things im certain on. if you really wanna know… id advise against 66020, carrion, corruption, enhance performance, and not-perplexity. but that would kinda destroy the playstyle youre going for, which is to pew pew the downed and turn them into a trap for their comrades. everything i would suggest would be aimed for personal survival, which you mitigate with safety in numbers.
you know what.. ill go ahead and recommend torment instead of corruption anyways, cuz its something you may not have thought of. corruption is usually a placeholder… “what condi sigils should i use… hmmm… oh i know ill just do that stacking one cuz 250 condi damage is a lot!” and well battle is an obvious choice of course, which is fine.
i think if you try out those 3 things youll find your experience much better without corrupting the playstyle you want. /shrug, take it or leave it. i think if in addition to those 3 things you switched all your gear to rabid you would also see enhanced performance.
lol puns
Puns and your citique are appreciated. Torment sigils are AOE and would add another condi to the mix. I sometimes go full rabid with torment and earth sigils for balls-to-the-walls condi nuking. It’s definitley fun I moved away from that though because carrion with might stacking allows me do decent direct damage too in case my condis are being cleansed too fast. To use finance terms, I’m hedging
I also dislike full rabid bc of the lower vitality pool. Retal ignores toughness so rabid doesn’t mitigate the retal problem like carrion’s vitality does. In the metabattle article I listed some more defensive trait set ups too. Check them out and see if they satisfy you.
Question though: why perplexity? I thought perplexity falls off in large fights bc the effects are single target.

I use the condi/precision food to proc more vuln and more bleeds. Condis get cleansed fast too so I’d rather them hit harder while they are on them then hit longer. Also what does power damage have to do with precise sights? My 20+ friends do have power damage and the vuln helps them wail on the folks I’m bombarding.
Hey all,
My guild asks its engineers (The Few, The Proud, The Zerg Engineers) to be condi bombers to punish bads for not running condi cleanses. I asked (THE) Wolfineer about a build and he gave me one that used Aristocracy runes. I’ve taken that build, tweaked it (didn’t like the HGH he recommended since we stack might well already), and wanted to share it with everyone on here so I can further hone it based on y’alls constructive criticism.

Staying in IoJ and dealing with your haters like a man is obviously the best solution here Roaming in IoJ is a blast and you know it
How well does elixir infused bombs scale with healing power though? :/
Also, flamethrower should be called the flamefarmer. Soooo many bags. I’ve been against weaker servers for the last two weeks and this is what I’ve run: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQFAUlUUpWrVXxdLseNydBNymkFQOhAI6D2ifA-T1BDABJqEUQdAVp8DgHAAnq/Uz+DCcBAIFwFjBA-w

Thanks for the IOJ love, Hamster
Dear Mesmer Forum,
Can I get a post-patch build for PU Power, Power Interrupt, and Power Shatter please? Reasons why you prefer one over the other would be helpful too.
Thanks,
A Scrub Mesmer
Nice, bro! What Sigils and Runes did you use for those builds?
Whenever I read about all these people stereotyping Medi Guard = Duelist spec, only good in 1v1, melt in AOE, not helping in team fight, etc etc. I laugh so hard XD
Guys, try Hammer + GS instead =xYeap, Eng is a pain in the kitten for Gua (condi ftw). Need one more player to bring these annoying fellas down. Warrior too because they can choose to disengage the fight whenever they want, (even Condi War is annoying), and come back to you when they are healed by signet =/
Can you post a build for a Hammer/GS medi spec? I main a guard in zergs and would love to roam on mine, but I can’t stand 1v1 builds bc my GW life seems to be PvX, or XvX when I’m with a group. A PvX guard build could change my life. You have the power, guard forum!
Would yall consider d/d ele the strongest wvw roamer right now too? I know it’s different in WVW where stats are more customizable.
Try this one in the backline: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Fgw2skills.net%2Feditor%2F%3FfdAQJAqelUUpEr1XxvLseRSaBNq0AqXIyQulP3gA8UA-TRyCwAAeAAo0DgV53lTAwN1fKcgA0v%2FwYlgz1QQKAYWDA-e
Does nasty hybrid damage by taking advantage of your party’s might stacking and has two escapes for kiting. If you aren’t a scrub like me, you could take more aggressive traits and utilities if you wanted!
Are you suggesting that women can’t be bros? This is the the 21st century. If you identify as a sis though then I will respect that.
…..

:D
Engi is far from useless in the melee train.
5 target bombs with decent damage OP.
Constant giant “Lake Superior ain’t got nothing on me” water fields OP.
Glue “Kitten That Entangle Poser” Bomb OP.
More blasts than day in Kandahar OP.
“Mined The Gap” boon stripping OP.
Just run Elixer B for stab and roll with a guard or two and its magical. Saffron bread, protection injection. Melandru runes, and stabilized armor with – condi food and leg mods make you one slick rick.
Edit: This is my frontline build. Still working on getting more knight trinkets but I wanted to show you what I’m working with: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQFAUlUUpPrVXxLLseRicBNyrMmQeiEKyImkPFAA-TxCDABCqDQn9HiR9HtUSUlyBAuAAC8AA+SJIUKxI4ABInGCyAUsAA-e
Here is one of my backline builds. Good balance between condi and power which is perfect for nades, only made better by its might stacking abilities. Make those empowers count! You could even add enhanced performance and switch in elexirs for HGH might if your zerg doesn’t stack might well or you are pugging. The HGH version was actually given to me by Wolfineer himself so you know its quality

I also run a full rabid set with bleeding and torment on crit sigils for maximum condi pressure. It uses my roaming armor which has Nightmare runes but other rune choices work

How fast does this clear camps?
If you’re looking for a build to clear camps mainly, try some other build. The original post clearly talks about the pros n cons of this build, read them first please.
Broooo,, it says it doesn’t burst enemies fast. I took that to mean players. My PD condi thief takes down players slowly but my goodness does it shred camps fast with caltrops and richocet. Condi can shred player enemies slow and NPC enemies fast, hence why I asked. No need to assault my literacy Thanks for answering my question though.
Diva, not hating. It’s a great build for fighting people. I just hate having fun so I focus on clearing camps.

How fast does this clear camps?
I’m trying to decide what class I want to main in WvW and want one that can zerg and roam. Guardians obviously zerg like a boss but I was hoping some meditation guards in this forum would give me some insights as my guild doesn’t have any resident roaming guards.
Convince me that learning medi guard is worth my time!
I see your point about the staff. The firepower looks out of control. I just like staff (and traiting IE) because otherwise I don’t clear camps very fast. I hate having fun so I focus on actual PVE objectives in WvW and just hope I can kill folks that try to stop me.
If I ever do decide to actually hunt players though, your double scepter build looks AWESOME. I just wish I could do both -_- If anybody has a fast camp clear build that can also duel well, let me know.
Is 1 minute to clear a camp with a condi build fast enough for you?
I’m going to put up a new build link including video of gameplay. Just for you I’m including a camp clear with the same build.
I’d love to see that. Are you going to post that here or in a new thread?

I don’t think this Hybrid is a solid idea. Your power is just to low, and your condition damage by itself isnt good enough either.
I’ve considered an interrupt condi build myself but to be honest, most all of our interrupt potential synergizes best with power. However I do think there are a few tweaks you could do to give the build more viability.
Your current problem is that your direct damage is to low, and your ability to apply damaging conditions isnt good enough. Your strongest source will be bleeds from phants and a little bit from torment as you can apply it, but outside of that you’re lacking burning and poison application. You actually have more CC condi’s at work and while they’re great they’re not going to bring anybody down. So let’s break this down.
- Your interrupt condition build lacks condition damage, so let’s move away from the hybrid idea (since the power is below even the most reasonable level for a hybrid, which are poor enough these days as it is) and replace all weapons/armor/trinkets with rabid. We’re gonna need full condi damage stats, and as much precision for bleed procs as we can muster.
- At this point having dropped from dreams of hybrid, the Greatsword looses its luster. It’s a power weapon. It has a nice cripple from the phant, and some bleeds from the clones, but otherwise it’s not doing this build any favors. I’m going to recommend taking focus. Why? Curtain provides swiftness, it provides an interrupt source, and with CI an pull interrupt into an iWarden summon will stack a nasty amount of bleeds under the effect of that CC. iWarden will also destroy projectiles which is handy in the current Ranger meta, among other roaming condi classes (pistol thieves to an extent).
- So now we’re got mobility covered so no need to rely on travellers runes. So let’s go ahead and replace those with Perplexity runes. Why? They’re actualy going to synergize well with your interrupt build. Between pistol stun, curtain pull, and MoD you should be able to keep the confusion application up with it’s 10s regularity. The runes also increase your condition damage, which is what you want.
- So now I’m going to suggest harmonious mantras and instead putting those 2 points into Inspiration for Malicious Sorcery. You can run a sword with your focus if you want, you can CI interrupt into iWarden for a cc bleed stack fest and stack imob on top of that with a sword iswap, or you could just run scepter pistol/focus. In which case you’ll continually benefit from the +200 condition damage (not to mention illusionary counter reduced CD) and 100% scepter clone output for more torment application. You’re sacrificing that third MoD cast, and a condi cleanse from heal if you take the mantra heal. But I’d personaly go for ether fest and use positioning, kiting, avoidance, interrupts, and mobility to avoid condi’s. Up to you.
I love staff. If I swapped sc/p with a staff, would you suggest any trait switches?
@Snakebyte: That works, actually.
I usually use sword/Focus-Staff , but for WvW I think GS may be better as long as you have some form of stealth, either via torch or decoy. In fact, staff/GS or sword/focus GS could work pretty effectively, with focus being a big help against engis and the sudden plague of rangers.
Sorry for being a nüb but why do you need stealth with a greatsword? The obvious to you is the arcane to a scrub like myself. Thanks for your help, btw. Mesmer community, best community.
Thanks, Neveready. I love bleed builds like that and may try it. I just may not do it long bc not having some sort of access to speed drives me crazy.
Fay, so PU Condi is still viable post-PU nerf?
With the extra bounce working correctly on IE, is 04/6/0/4 better than the traditional PU 4/4/6/0/0 build now?
What weapon/armor/trinket set up would you recommend for each build? Right now I have solider armor with zerk weapons and trinkets. Is that good for the 4/4/6/0/0 build?
I love Condi kitten and I’d love some advice from folks smarter than me about condi roaming on a mesmer post-patch.
Condi-shatter? PU condi? What? Lemme see some builds! Thanks, y’all.
I usually run this in the gank squad group, pop my venoms on them, and then run to the commander tag to be a blastbot poison spammer. I’ve noticed our gank squads catching power increase, but maybe that’s because they are fighting squishes away from the cleanses.
Thanks for the critique though. I’d love to see your zerging build if you have the time.
I left some guilds and have room now. I’d love to be reinvited!

I’ve developed a venom share build for zerging:
Role:
-Giving your party insane amounts of CC, hard and soft
-Heal your party through leeching venoms, shortbow water field blasts, and possibly your heal venom.
-Spam choking gas on the enemy zerg to poison them and reduce their healing.
-Be a puppyhole.
…all while having the armor and health needed for a thief to survive a zerg, plus it registers 2k power.
Healing power is great because of leeching venoms and thief’s spammable shortbow blast on water fields.
Condi damage isn’t important but duration is. You want those chills, poisons, and immobilizes lasting as long as possible.
There are other options for this build. For example, I’m a scrub so I wanted vigor on healing and took withdraw to correct my positioning easier. If you are a pr0 however, you could take signet of malice for aggressive healing or the heal venom for maximum support.
Sigils are also debatable. The poison duration sigil on my shortbow is the only one I know Id want 100% of the time because spamming poisons on the enemy zerg is one of the main jobs for this build.
Let me know what y’all think!
Note: for small group fighting, I prefer a full dire build with P/D and short bow with more aggressive venoms. The build above is just for large groups.
(edited by Snakebyte.2804)
So I’m a scrub and therefore want your input on a question: would swapping 2 points out of inspirations (losing heal on mantras and the 15% damage bonus) for 2 more points in domination for Greatsword training be a good idea?

I zerg with a wellmancer and wanted to find a roaming build that I could use on my Necro too.
This is that build. Thanks for doing the work!
My only change was to add in the new Path of Corruption trait, replacing Spectral Attunement. That way you get the clutch boon corrupts that this build lacks.
I run something close to this build but I have a conundrum.
Is this setup better?
Or is a 0/0/6/2/6 better with sigils of doom and confusion on steal? I’m torn so I wanted to get y’all’s thoughts.
…but…but that means admitting that I’m a baddie.
PUPPY YOU.
You have zero mobility. Its bad for Wvw… If you dont take sword you cant roam.
So should I switch my axe for a sword? I just hate the autoattack so much…
Hey y’all,
Unlike 90% of these forums, I LOVE Condi. I am leveling a ranger and want to use him for WvW roaming.
Oh Ranger Forum, with your infinite wisdom could you please bestow upon me a critique for this build? :
Thanks in advance!
generosity still seems better…
Yeah, if you are Warren Buffet.
Rekt. /15charsofrekt
Or at least reduces our susceptibility to condis. Now we can run our damage builds and have condi cleansing come a little easier. So glad it’s on swap! Will anyone else use this?
I like this idea. The scepter seems better because you can use the arcane trait that gives you increased endurance regen while wielding scepter instead of the on crit vigor, allowing you to go dire weapons over rabid for even more tankiness.
What do y’all think is better: the defense from focus or the blasts and mobility of OH dagger? I may try this with perplexity runes. Ele has a few interrupts and adding confusion would be awesome.
