I run Healing mantra,decoy, MoD, blink, mostly zerk/assassin, and centaur runes because I prefer speed (that affects yaks!) to more damage. Try it!

Guardians are a support class that have to be up close in the hammer train, benefiting mostly the frontline. This new Dragonhunter spec allows them to hang back and focus on supporting the backline! Boons, CC for peel….looks nice to me.
Maybe do a dire shield and a carrion pistol?
Well I run Dire Pistol and Shield on my WvW roaming build with rabid armor and a mix of rabid and rabid/dire trinkets, so the shield could be used there too!
Hey! I’m actually the guy that wrote that build. The goal is overloading the enemy condi clear so full dire works. Carrion just lets you do damage BEFORE you exhaust their cleanses, so I’d only run dire if you notice they are heavy backline. Which, btw, is more common these days in the pirate ship meta!
Edit: Didn’t see you are still using carrion. The stat distribution is up to you, bud. Just remember what stats you are trading when you modify the gear distribution! That’s the cool thing about engineers though – we are flexible!

I think they are going to rework PP to be either full power or full condi, and then make rifle whatever PP isn’t.

Make mortar a kit with a cooldown that acts like the old juggernaut with stab and -50% movement speed but mobile! Also allow it to damage structures in WvW.
Blast finisher on every 3rd auto attack like on Ele’s Lightning Hammer would be choice.
OP, running a power CI build with pack runes and focus or a Condi CI build with traited focus will give you slightly more speed than Travelers.

So they said only one new weapon per class, right? I envision them giving Mesmers mainhand pistol AND shield, because pistol is NOT a new weapon for Mesmers, even if there are different skills added for the main hand.
That’s what I run but with Soldier’s armor and pistol/shield for more blasting and blocks! I just need a way to boost my crit chance :/

Engineer has always been suboptimal for zergs due to the lack of stability. Now that NO ONE will be very stable, do our unique damage reduction while CC’d plus slick shoes give us a comparative advantage up front? Discuss. My laptop charger has been broken and won’t arrive until Thursday so I can’t see for myself :/

I run the classic PU napalm cat as well for roaming and scouting. But it is easy to find a group to roam with so sometimes I go CI (just because I like it).
For tagging 6-6-0-2-0 with GS+Staff and MoP if with a really big zerg.
You could also go for support alternative with something like 2-6-0-6-0 with mantra heal and the distortion trait on phantasms.
Try 2/6/0/0/6 in a train sometime. Being able to use your first two shatters on yourself means more bags and Shatter 4 gives you a ton of survivability, even in melee. I run GS/Sw-T and play it like a shatter mesmer but with clone distortion for chokes where being a backline nuker is more advantageous than shatter ganker. As the enemy zerg wipes, run in with sword and Shatter 1&2 to get bag$.
I wrote a very well rated engi carrion zerg build for wvw and it got put in the good category even though it scored in the top bracket. I appreciate what Metabattle tries to do but sometimes they just make no sense.
Edit: just looked and the score has been updated since to be accurate. It was under-tiered for a very long time though, I promise.

Yah, I’d try PD more often if it wasn’t for the silly cast time. I shatter too much and often feel like I waste him when using it.
Shattering too much is a problem I had initially but your staff clones do STUPID damage with IE trained and once I stopped shattering every time I had my clones up and rather waited for appropriate times, I noticed my win rate spike.
I get it though- shattering can be too fun NOT to sometimes :p
I run Energy and Cleansing sigils so I can run Protection Injection and Backpack Regen simultaneously. Pack runes are also love/life. Might switch cleansing for doom though as I’m having trouble dropping sustain-heavy opponents.

It’s also not unstoppable and it is also not any more or less effort simply because you are using perplexity runes

The last trait in line 2 is usually X or XIII, depending on how boon-happy my enemies are that day in WVW. The empty utility skill is usually corrupt boon or spectral grasp depending yet again on boonocity. Spec Armor too! If you run Signet Of Condeez (names are hard) for your 3rd utility, take the trait in the first line that gives you might on signet use rather than life blast might. Enjoy getting raged at for cheesing! I do.

Oh and axe/dagger + sword/torch is the more popular combo.
It gives you an evade and a poison on each set, and you can use sword to leap through your fire field.
If you do want to run warhorn then put your earth sigil on that set and use it with sharpened edges to stack massive bleeds with warhorn #4
I just wanted warhorn so I could have landspeed without needing a rune or a signet. Earth on the horn is a good idea. The bleed stack was what I was going for!

DFire with over 100% fear duration, 90% bleed duration. I switch out hemophilia for bleed/weakness on deathshroud if I keep running into Melee folks, and spectral grasp changes around.
My one concern is my 120% fear duration. When calculating condition reduction (say 20% from Hoelbrak) does that 20% come out of my full 120% or just 100%? Does anybody know?
I run 04226 and love it. Most fun I’ve had roaming in wvw. Might try 04406 now though. Can’t have enough phase retreats.
