Bumping this because it should be fixed in the next patch. I don’t know why this isn’t your number 1 priority.
I’d love a mount in wvw.
For me that’s a big turn off in wvw….having to run back to the zerg over and over when I die. I’d love a battlehorse in there and a regular horse out in the world!
A lot of gamers, myself included consider collecting mounts their endgame. Also, I miss that soothing feeling I’d get in other mmos when I’m just riding around on my mount, minding my own business and I could hear it’s hooves galloping away especially when paired with epic in game music such as gw2s. Gw2 is a wonderful game, and mounts would make it a 10 in my eyes
I know that we have way points, and mounts are not necessary but it’s just one of those things that make the game for some people. (There are a ton of things in game right now that aren’t needed but people love to have!) I’m not asking for huge ridiculous armored mounts that block your vision. I’m looking for graceful horses that come in many colors (for uniqueness) and maybe have different mane / tail options for people to chose from.
I know people are really worried about people standing on top of npcs with their mounts, and that’s a legitimate concern. I don’t want mounts to disrupt anyone’s game play so I suggest we disallow mounts in major cities and large quest hubs. There could even be a stable outside cities for flavor (maybe even an instanced personal story-esque stable where you could park your horse and pay a lil fee for them to hold it with some cool dialogue!). Stand alone NPCs could have an invisible barrier that dismounts anyone that comes close enough or something.
I know there are many people opposed to mounts, but there are also lots of gamers like me who really really want them. I think if both sides put their heads together we could come up with a solution that could appease everyone
You guys mind not derailing my thread?
I love those ideas onshidesigns!
Great way to add some RP flavour!
Another cool idea:
Instead of conjuring a horse out of thin air, and then poof it’s underneath you… If you blow a whistle and your horse runs by and you hop on!
There are people who are against mounts so I decided to start this thread to try and address some of their concerns and keep it constructive since a lot of mount threads get derailed with fighting.

Thanks for reading!
Capes would be cool…
it’s horses for me.
I need mounts to work towards and collect cause I’m getting bored too.
Where exactly did they say this?
People keep saying they’re going to change confusion and I haven’t heard or seen this anywhere, lol.
Dryads! Elves! Something pretty!
Can we please refrain from freaking out until the changes are set into place and we actually see the effect they have?
You know, like rational human beings.
You’’ll get banned instantly if you send that much gold. It happened to a friend of mine. He was banned for like 2 weeks. It took them forever to straighten it out.
I don’t think anyone wants raids in the traditional sense …
I think us Pvers are all sort of scratching our heads as to what we’re supposed to be doing at 80.
This game was supposed to be aesthetically driven, yet there is such a lack of armor skins that most of us have been through them all and are hungry for something to do.
I want a reason to do a dungeon multiple times. Why not throw some really cool armor and weapon skins in there off the last bosses?
I want a reason to do a jumping puzzle more than once.
Why not give JP chests a chance to drop really cool town clothes?
Why not revamp the dragons into challenging world raid content that it should have been in the first place? Then make the rewards worth while!
I also want to primarily use a bow but NOT as a secondary weapon. I really don’t like ranger though. =/
They need to make another bow class.
I’m sick and tired of there only being 1 real option for a bow class in every mmo. Break the mold anet!
no mounts in major cities! Oh, put stables outside.. .OMG when you stable your horse it can appear in the stable.. eeep!!! xD (like instanced personal story!!!)
I still think adding a training map would really be nice for everyone involved. By training map i mean the ability to make yourself neutral or not. This way people can train, learn the maps, get map completion, do jumping puzzles, etc. without taking away from people that want to be part of the battle. It doesn’t seem like it be tough to implement, although i have no idea.
Yeah let’s remove all risk and challenge and then reward people with map completion.
…..WHAT?
If training maps were added, they definitely SHOULD NOT be rewarding people.
There should be forums for each server imo!
I’m a pver and I have 100 map completion. If I can do it, the OP can certainly do it. It seems like you’re being stubborn and wont even try.
Chaar look dumb in all armor imo.
When I made a charr I wished she could run around naked clawing people to death. I deleted her shortly after.
darkace you make some really good arguments against centaurs, but i still think anet could figure it out!
…or they could just give us mounts and i would be SO happy.
If Portals aren’t going to be Mesmer-exclusive, then I’d like the same access to Swiftness that other classes get for free.
Oh my god, THIS.
I hate having to keep a focus on me at all times, or sacrificing runes for swiftness. It isn’t fair.
As a compromise I’ll fashion for you a stick horse. Then you get to gallop around Queensdale to your heart’s content and I get to never have to see centaurs as a playable race.
C’mon don’t be like that!
You wont have to pay for waypoints anymore, just hop on my back!
I’m saving you money!!
+1 for centaurs.
I have always wanted to be a dryad, or centaur or some sort of 4 legged race!
If I can’t have a pretty horse mount to ride around queensdale on, let me gallop around myself! xD
Wow what a fun idea! I always loved time travel concepts and caverns of time were always my favourite instances in wow! This is right up my alley
Currently when you block a player they can still you online as well. I think this needs to be corrected more than anything. If I block someone, I should appear offline to them always.
Yeah, I don’t see rangers losing their pets. It would be cool to see thieves get longbows but I posted a thread about it in the thief forum to get very little response or ‘no thanks’.
My favorite weapon has always been bows, and I would love to see another LB/SB class since most games seem to have only 1 option and I think ANet likes to break the mold. I wish I could get into the ranger, I really do. I have a level 80 one that was my first character and I just can’t enjoy her. The only reason shes 80 is because the game as a whole was new. I find her very boring. I wish they did something more exciting with bows rather than ’shoot an arrow, shoot 2 arrows!" Ironically the thief bow options are much more fun and exciting and I find that disturbing.
Anyways, its only one persons opinion and I wanted to share it!
I didn’t mean to cause an argument with this suggestion!
Depends on how long that person is alive after the other 4 are dead.
I’ve had my group tell me to “just die” more than a couple times after a wipe because I was able to hold my own against bosses.
I have bifrost! I always use staff.
I love your ideas. I think there should be customizable mounts and houses! That sounds AWESOME!!!!
How does it disrupt the game?
And btw gw2’s whole philosophy is play your way.
As long as I can turn off dueling requests so I never see them, and there’s no dueling in major cities then I’m on board.
How is me changing my characters race disruptive to your gaming?
I agree with iCryptik and Snow White.
Allowing players to change their race is something that many players want.Define “many”. I don’t want race changes, nor do I want to see spam threads like these every day.
You don’t know what many means? Really?
Many
Adjective
A large number of: “many people agreed with her”; “the solution to many of our problems”.
Mesmer!
Just so versatile and fun!
Why doesn’t thief have a long range weapon?
I propose longbows!
I’d wager more men use the dreamer than women.
The PS story rewards are a JOKE. If it makes people feel better, after a race change, the personal story doesn’t include rewards. There, simple fix. Everyone is happy.
Cultural armor could either grant the player a reimbursement, or be swapped for the equivalent armor of that race. Easy fix there to.
There’s no reason not to implement race changes if enough people want them.
As far as making pets optional, put them on passive and ignore them if you want. You’ll be hurting your effectiveness, but if it’s more fun for you that way, go for it.
OR anet can:
1. make a proper archer class that doesn’t use pets.
2. give thieves longbows
3. make a viable ranger build that doesn’t use pets.
The easiest option would be giving thieves longbows. They don’t have a long-ranged weapon anyway!
Asking the player base to simply ‘ignore’ their pets because that’s how they wanna play – especially when people already deny rangers a dungeon spot – is ludicrous.
I just love him! I think he is super funny and wish there was more of him in the personal story.
Anyone agree?
I want race changes as well. Reset my PS and make my norn a human!!!
If you read your abilities and use them correctly 3 mobs on a theif is cake. Yes I’m talking pre level 10. I just tested it out.
Lol I just really don’t like pets. Anet could make a perfect AI and I’d still prefer not to use a pet. xD
And rangers are like…i dunno boring to me because their skills are flavorless.
(edited by Snow White.9680)
Yeah I’m not too thrilled about wearing heavy armor and using a bow.
I want an archer class that specializes in, and uses both bows without having to worry about a silly pet!
Heck they could give thieves longbows and Id be happy!
Switched to pistol /pistol, having 0 trouble with that as well.
So I deleted my level 30 thief today (I didn’t like her look or name anymore) and I started a new one taking into account what the OP said.
I did the tutorial fine. After the tutorial I bought a level 1 shortbow from the TP with my 70 copper I had earned and killed 1 mob at a time to open up my 5 skils. Once I had 1-4 opened I was able to take on 3 mobs at a time with ease in my starter gear by hitting number 4, and then putting number 2 on top of it, taking advantage of the combo field weakness.
Op is a sillypants.
Please create a class for me!
I’d love another archer type class that specializes in longbows & shortbows but I cant stand pets cause their AI is always god awful!
I would like the option to hide focus. I think they look fugly, and they are a must on mesmers.
Give us run speed not tied to weapons Anet.

Agreeeed! I’ve had to buy another to clear up my first mistake.
I’m old and my eyes are terrible!
