I actually like that creating a legendary requires you to visit every aspect of the game pretty much. I do wish their was more skill and less RNG required though.

I’ll probably shop around for another mmo if mounts do end up getting a definite no. I know it doesn’t make a lot sense to most players but it’s one of those make or breaks for me.

When asked about mounts in beta start anet said simply: ‘not at launch’. That small comment left a glimmer of hope in me someday I could have a beautiful horse mount in my favorite MMO: GW2. So I went on to I by GW2 and happily leveled up hanging onto that hope…

As time goes on things look grim for mounts especially with a nonsensical hostility about them coming from the community.

I just hope that my dream for a horse in gw2 can come true because I know that gw2 is a hard game to replace.

Where were they new armor skins with the fractals updates? Or ANY of the last patches? Oh, right there WERE none.

There hasn’t been a single armor piece added in game since launch. Not one. It’s time to add some.

nstead, maybe you need to put a mount in a stable of some sort, and would go pick it up there if you want to keep it. Where you leave it is where it is. You aren’t allowed mounted in certain areas / terrain, because the mount won’t be having it. So you’ll need to dismount to fight with your weapons, go to certain areas, and so on, and if you don’t put the mount back into a stable when you log off, it stays where you left it and someone else can take it. It’d be sort of like a ‘pick up’ item. I’d imagine they could also be destroyed too, if they’re just left standing out somewhere. They could potentially be set on follow, if you just want to lead them around (anywhere they’re allowed / willing to go, of course, otherwise they’ll be left where they stop at their peril.) Possibly there could be an item, or just the ‘follow’ function that ‘assigns’ the mount to someone (so the mount’s floaty name denotes it belongs to a person), just so people know not to steal it, but if the person logs off without stabling it, the name gets removed, and it’s free game for anyone. Or the person could just ‘release’ it.

I’m really disappointed that all the content is temporary. And not a single new piece of armor has been added since the game started. Only weapons. Whats with that?

Well to be honest ranger is not my first choice, but if I want to use primarily bows and have access to both its my only option.

Anyone else feel this way about the ranger?

I wish there was a build that allowed me to not use the pet and be effective.

I think mounts could be an xpac feature when they introduce more land. The land could flourish with wild horses which humans could train and then I could finally have my pony! <3

I used to be really against dueling but if players want them bad enough who am i stop stop them. It will only bother me if I can’t chose to opt out of duel requests.

As a hint, for the OP – the mount thread was closed for the same reason the previous 2000 mount threads have been locked then closed. ArenaNet has said, repeatedly, there will be no mounts in game.

Continued whining about something that has little support from the fanbase, and no support at all from the company, achieves nothing.

I’m surprised people don’t get infracted or temp bans for starting these threads.

Would you please provide a link to a definitely no on mounts from arena net? Anyway, even if they did say no, things can always change.

I personally think the armor is skimpy enough but it wouldn’t bother me if there was more.

I do think the more conservative armor needs a bit more love though because the really nice detailed sets are usually the skimpy ones.

This game already has really skimpy armor as far as I’m concerned. I’d actually like to see more covered armor that doesn’t look like a potato sac. It seems the skimpy stuff is the only thing that gets any attention to detail. =/

I’d be …okay with a horse that is purely cosmetic. It’s not ideal because it would look down right stupid running so slow but i’m willing to take what i can get LOL. I want a kitten pony

It’s not really about cost for me. I can make the WP fees fine just with regular play. It’s about the epic feeling I get running around on my trusty horse Phillipe! (yes, I name my mounts. ) Horses are my favorite animal and I just really miss having one to call my own.
GW2 is by far the best mmo out there but it’s missing something for me… No horses!

I think they should keep the waypoints but also add mounts. It makes everyone happy because they can chose their method of travel!

A neat idea to help with gold sinks could be stables placed outside of cities to park your mounts for a fee.

Geotherma, please read the posts carefully, you’ve missed a couple of defining facts.

And yes, I understand ANet’s reporting system. And the tools ANet has to use. I can understand how in-game tools are not always adequate.

As for making the troll famous… he had already spread his bragging across the game as the “best” tank, promoting himself, getting others to pay him as a “teacher”, selling his “secrets of success”. He was already known.

Didn’t leave the game because of a boor, we left for a variety of reasons, the last one being the dev’s unwillingness to enfore their own rules, as well as rewarding the person egregiously breaking the rules on a continual ongoing basis. Slight integrity issue for us.

The issue in all this is that the devs in the other game not only did not have adequate in-game blocking/reporting tools, when they did get information from multiple sources, they turned a blind eye and it cost them money. Boors, are not only bad for the community, they can be bad for business.

As for boors themselves, yes, after 55 years, I and my guildmates (some same age), understand they exist in MMOs, the work place, the world at large. Dismissing them as irrelevant is one option. I use it all the time on forums. There are other cases where /block is inadequate and I was responding to the OP in agreeing. There are some good suggestions on this thread. Getting the entire server to /block the person can be challenging.

How is block inadequate? This is where I am confused, if you cannot see what he is writing how are you affected in any way.

Block is bugged. It doesn’t work properly and anet refuses to acknowledge it / fix it. Check the bug forums.

The fact that gw2’s block system doesn’t even work properly and you can still read their chat in half the channels….

In an ideal world, we could make everyone happy. Unfortunately, that is not the case and both sides need to compromise a bit and come to an agreement that gives pro-mounts what they want, without trampling all over anti-mount’s game play.

Ranger was the first class I leveled.

I got her to 80 and almost immediately put her down out of boredom. I think the only reason shes 80 is because the game was fresh and new for me and I had friends to play with.

After a few months, and leveling up a mesmer and playing with an ele and theif I can honestly say I find the ranger class to be extremely boring and flavorless. ANET is such an innovative, amazing, talented bunch of people, but looking at the versitility of classes like the mesmer, I feel like ranger was a missed opportunity. It’s cookie cutter. It’s bland. It’s been done before. I find it very disheartening to play a ranger and having it handle exactly like every other bow wielding class in every game ever. I really wish anet would give this class the complete overhaul that it deserves and do it gw2 style.

ANet if you’re reading this:
We still want bows, and we like the idea behind that ranger class… but the play style is bad. If you’re going to make this a pet class.. don’t make pets a hindrance! Allow us to chose our pets strengths and weaknesses! Allow us to play effectively without it a pet in certain builds! Give us some creativity! Listen to the OP!

I’d be okay with cosmetic mounts if they didn’t look silly going the same speed as a player does. I fear they would though.

I’m leaning more towards the speed boosts that most professions get. I think it’s like 25 percent, or maybe 33. Maybe the mounts could trot, and then have bursts of speed like players.

My idea was to have collectable mounts for open world, and also have battlemounts for wvw.

The battlemounts would be given to all players, would have a slight speed increase. I think it would help for lowbies to keep up with the group, or for mesmers who dislike using a focus. It would put everyone on the same playing field speed-wise.
Battlemounts would all look similar. Their armor would represent the color your server is that week. Maybe there could be more extravagant looking ones later for purchase with badges that have your guild banner draped on them. They would still have the same speed though.

Collectable mounts I see as a slower, unarmored horse for riding around leisurely. There could be an array of colors and visual upgrades you could get.

You bring up a legitimate argument. You’re scared someone will block a vendor.

A lot of gamers, myself included consider collecting mounts their endgame. Also, I miss that soothing feeling I’d get in other mmos when I’m just riding around on my mount, minding my own business and I could hear it’s hooves galloping away especially when paired with epic in game music such as gw2s. Gw2 is a wonderful game, and mounts would make it a 10 in my eyes

I know that we have way points, and mounts are not necessary but it’s just one of those things that make the game for some people. (There are a ton of things in game right now that aren’t needed but people love to have!) I’m not asking for huge ridiculous armored mounts that block your vision. I’m looking for graceful horses that come in many colors (for uniqueness) and maybe have different mane / tail options for people to chose from.

I know people are really worried about people standing on top of npcs with their mounts, and that’s a legitimate concern. I don’t want mounts to disrupt anyone’s game play so I suggest we disallow mounts in major cities and large quest hubs. There could even be a stable outside cities for flavor (maybe even an instanced personal story-esque stable where you could park your horse and pay a lil fee for them to hold it with some cool dialogue!). Stand alone NPCs could have an invisible barrier that dismounts anyone that comes close enough or something.

I know there are many people opposed to mounts, but there are also lots of gamers like me who really really want them. I think if both sides put their heads together we could come up with a solution that could appease everyone

People posts about mounts every single day. Unfortunately they usually start their own threads and those threads get deleted.

Don’t worry though, since the mods said there can only be 1 mount thread, I’m going to make sure it grows by the day, and remains on the front page.

That’s what those of us who wanted appearance tabs in wow did. We bumped a thread for 2 1/2 years until blizzard finally announced transmogrify.

I’ll put this simply.

1. This game has no stat progression.
2. This game is all about armor skins.
Conclusion: There needs to be more armor skins then there currently is.
The OP not only helps with this, but it also kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

If you don’t think it’s worth a devs time, that’s your opinion, but I’m sure many people would agree that there needs to be more armor skins in this game.

You know what I’d love? I’d love a reason to do DEs more than once. I’d love it if heart quests we’re re playable on the same character.

Here’s an idea I just thought up (so it’s no doubt flawed in some way, lol)

What if each zone, (like queensdale) had their own ‘reputation’ you could gain rewards from.

For example, lets take farmer Eda. She specializes in apple trees & baking pies. You have to help her fight off spiders and collect apples for her pies. She offers some tiny karma rewards after you complete her heart.

What if she also had weapon and armor skins and even town clothes you could purchase with reputation with queensdale?!

The reason for reputation unique to zoness instead of karma is because you can get karma anywhere, and it wouldn’t help get people outside of the world, or stop them from just farming one spot. This would spread people out because the rewards would be different depending on the zone!

People are much more likely to stop and do content while riding by than they are porting by and not even seeing it. If you’re riding around on your mount and you see a DE, you might consider helping out. If you port from LA to your destination directly, you wont be there to even consider it.

I think everyone should get a battlehorse in WvW, maybe higher ranks could get cooler looking ones, but the speed would be all same all around.

Lowbies who don’t have their speed boosts, and certain classes get left behind ALOT and if everyone had a mount it would make things fair. Plus a zerg on their mounts > a zerg on foot, anyday.

The mounts outside pvp for tyria would be the ones you work towards and collect!

Also, Mounts would get more people out in the world. I know there are players like me who would prefer to ride their horse around instead of porting everywhere.

Right now asura have a monopoly on tyrian travel. are we really expected to believe that EVERYONE would be okay with this and there would be NO other forms of travel?

We have planes, but people stil take the train..
We have cars, but some still prefer to ride bikes, or even horse and carriage…

Some people just want to ride a little slower and watch the scenery…

I really think tyria needs another form of transportation, and I think mounts are the way to do it!

Thats the mentality of many gamers now. Lazy kittens who don’t wana work but want rewards.

There are no rewards at level 80. If people want to skip to 80 and do the same hing they could’ve done at level 10 …who cares? It nets more money for anet.

What they should have done is kept in up-scaling in dungeons and throughout the world like they had originally planned. They scrapped this idea before beta.

Skins for starters. And the ability to fully spec into you’re desired build (traits, utility) as well as the start to agony resist if fotm is your thing and ascended gear. There is a lot more gained from hitting 80 than you think.

Skins can be used at any level if you have xmute stones.

And I definitely wouldn’t call being able to trait a ‘reward’.
