If you guys have a hard time killing a Mesmer: roll a Mesmer.
If you think Mesmers are OP: roll a Mesmer.
If you don’t understand how Mesmers work: roll a Mesmer. That is the only way you are truly going to figure out how to kill one.
Mesmers are not OP, they just have a lot of builds that everyone and their brother seem to think we can all play simultaneously. Hint: We can’t.
Study us! Learn our favorite builds and you’ll be able to recognize them just by looking at which weapons we’re wielding. They all have a counter!
Want to know the Mesmers greatest counter? Conditions!
First PvP character was a mesmer, took it in to PvP and completely destroyed back when people thought the mesmer was worthless. Then I deleted it because I realized I was being a complete kittenbag and felt like a horrible person. Haven’t taken a mesmer in to PvP since.
Quit assuming that every player who disagrees with you has no experience.
And no, conditions can pop on clones and waste your builds entire offensive power just like every other ability.
The mesmer class is broken, try being productive and suggesting fixes that will retain what you like about the class instead of insisting that people should be okay with fighting an opponent that removes all counterplay from any fight.
Since the olden days people have learned to counter mesmers. I rarely see a Mesmer in sPvP, I wonder if there is a reason for that? I would assume you have no experience with a Mesmer based on your post.
+1
They really need to remove the crafted items out of the mystic forge loot table!!
It was SO infuriating to get back an item I can craft..
I ended up saving up, and handing some lucky SoB 700g for my precursor. (It just isn’t right that someone can trip over something worth that much gold.)

This happens to me a lot too. I have no idea how to fix it.
I really love your necros name! I’ve never seen anything like it! All names are solid and I give you 8/10.
My Mesmer is named Aisling Dreamphase.
Yeah, I’d probably sell my Bifrost if I could.
It was fun to get but it only goes with a few dyes. xD
Oh, lol.
I knew the actual meaning, I wasn’t sure if it was gamer slang for something else entirely.
That clears it up, thank you!
ill have to agree with guardian mesmer. SO MANY BOONS!
At the risk of sounding like an incredible noob….
What is…roaming?

I was never into the whole dark magic, emo classes. They just aren’t my style. I never had a warlock in wow, I will never have a necro in this game. Too gloomy. :P
The ele was pretty fun and as mentioned above is a bit like your standard mage – on wheels. But I found the playstyle…I dunno.. clunky? I didn’t like attunement swapping very much, and I wasn’t too thrilled about the spells. It was sort of like been there, done that.
The Mesmer was something new and exciting. I’ve always loved the look of light armor so I knew I wanted a scholar class, and I loved that Mesmers could use nontraditional weapons like greatswords and pistols!
I’ve said this many times before but I feel like the Mesmer is the most complete class. There are SO many ways to effectively play a Mesmer that it sort of breaks away from everyone being that cookie cutter build. I have yet to find a wrong way to play a mesmer which is what I think ANet was intending for all the classes when they said ‘play your way’.
Also, I love the trickster aspect of the class with stealth and confuse. There’s even versatility within any spec! We can confuse, burst, daze and even become immune to all dmg depending on how we shatter.
Bottom line: it’s a powerful, versatile class, which is loads of fun to play.
Definitely try a Mesmer!

I’ve been playing since beta and I have yet to see a precursor drop. A friend of mine had Dusk drop in WvW, and another friend has had 2 sheild precursors from the forge.
I had to save up 700g to buy my staff precursor off the TP.
Mesmer is capable of some really nice dps.
Mesmer is by far the most finished class in the game. It has multiple viable builds to play that suit anyone’s play style. I think everyone should at least try a Mesmer. All other classes just don’t compare in my eyes.
I really dislike posts like this because it feels like you’re just trying to start an argument. You want the gw2 community to sell you the game when in reality, no one can tell you what you think will be worth your time. OR you’re looking for excuses to bash the game cause you’re bored.
There have been numerous updates, that may or may not appease you. You can go to the news and announcements forums and read the patch notes, or you can boot it up and try it.
It will literally cost you nothing.

Another terrible ranger blaming ANet for his shortcomings. Nothing to see here.
I am really only interested in playing my main. I can’t seem to get into any other classes so I guess it’s good in a way that I’m not distracted by a bunch of alts.
Though I sort of feel like I’ve done everything on my Mesmer.
Vayne said it.
The reason all Tyria’s cities are so large is because simple, small cities don’t seem real. When I played WoW, I always wished there was more to Stowrmwind City because I loved it there, but I was constantly reminded of it’s limitations when roleplaying. Divinity’s reach (and the others) has so many places to explore, so many little details that would go unnoticed if you flew by but make the city seem alive. It’s a really great thing.
If you’re finding it hard to navigate, take advantage of the symbols on your map. It tells you where everything is. Eventually you’ll get used to it.
3. It’s the most distracting.
What! I’m a mesmer!!
Came up with another merge hairstyle idea. I would kill for a bun style thats messy with side-swept bangs or something falling out of it. It screams mesmer to be since the bun symbolizes control, and the bangs are like the chaos. ;D
Bare with me, I’m terrible at Photoshop:

Any word on when this MIGHT be a priority?
- Personally I don’t mind the plush toy backpacks. Women DO play this game you know, not to sound sexist.
You do sound incredibly sexist though. I, frankly hate the backpacks. I think they are tacky and would never wear one.
Please fix this anet.
Actually I find the human male options to be incredibly diverse.
See for yourself:
Go to the character creation menu, select human, then switch from Ele, to warrior, to necro they all look very different.
What exactly did you say? lol
Well, I had fun on mesmer all the way 1-80 so..
I’d start with the guardian and learn the basics of them game first, cause once you roll the mesmer you wont need anything else.
I haven’t leveled a guardian so I’m a bit biased…. Let’s see….
They both offer heavy support in pve situations. They are both welcomed and valued in dungeons. Guardian was an easier time tagging mobs in DE situations, but mesmer in the right hands can do fine with it.
Mesmers are always welcome and needed in WvW. They dominate in small scale and large scale battles and have the tools to completely obliterate almost any opponent 1 on 1.
I’d say Mesmer is the most well rounded finished class because they have SO many ways to play them. Confusion builds, shatters, crit builds, condition damage, support, tank-y and they all work wonderfully. I think everyone should at least try this class.
Mesmers need main hand range weapon – pistol
and a lnog range 2h weapon – bow
(staff doesn’t count as long range, 2h weapon)
Why doesn’t the Staff count? It’s got good condition damage, great team support, and a very potent skill set. It’s probably the best of the Mesmers weapons in terms of design and utility.
And for that matter, why doesn’t the Greatsword count. It’s probably one of the highest ranged damage weapons in the game, even if its phantasm is rather lacking.
The staff is def one of the best mesmer weapons but it’s best used in melee range where you and your opponent are standing in your chaos storm. Also you inflict more conditions (and more boons to allies!) the closer you are to your target. That’s why It does not count as a long range 2h weapon in my eyes. The GS is cool, but we’re talking options here. Some people might want to use something at long range other than a GS.

Blocking people needs to be looked at.
Currently when someone is blocked they still see you online!!! That is not right. When you block someone they should ALWAYS see you as offline! They should never have any more information about you ever again!
You shouldn’t be able to read anything they type ever again. They should not be able to invite you to parties, talk to you in whispers, party chats, general chat, guild chat, squad chat.
This really needs to be fixed.
It’s been 5 months. This is a huge privacy issue to some people!!!!
Hey guys! Let’s post some ideas (Include pictures!!) for human hairstyles we’d like to see added to the gem store, or just to the game in general!
I’d love a messy bun type hairstyle for human females. I’d really appreciate some ponytail styles and more shoulder length options as well. This could be as easy as opening up some of the Norn styles for the humans.
I believe that anet could even combined existing hairstyles for some really nice looks.
Quick Example:
(edited by Snow White.9680)
As a PVE player that did map completion 100% solo, I’m going to say No to this suggestion.
If I can do it, you can do it.
There are PLENTY of understated weapon and armor skins available, so I’m not upset at all that they are adding in more flashy items for those that want them.
Mesmer > Necro
Portal has already been nerfed twice ..leave it alone.
I’d like more faces for humans too. I’d like a messy bun option for human females. The current bun is too fancy.
I think the best build for taking on zergs in wvw is confusion glamour build unless something has changed recently that I’m unaware of.
Here’s a link to a thread with builds pertaining to that:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/WvW-glamour/first#post1631474
It’s basically using your utilities (glamour skills) against the zerg so they dmg themselves, and you also help your team out by reflecting projectiles and dazing opponents etc.
Sunrise.
Twilight is only red and black. Sunrise can be like every color.
But what other intent could there be? If you want to laugh with your friends / teammates you’d type in party chat or open up your mic. An emote that is visible to enemies means you want them to see you laughing. To me, that says a lot about intent.
Is there any good reason to allow enemies to see your emotes? I honestly can’t think of one.
I found the ranger to be boring and flavorless. It’s just your generic pet class. There’s literally nothing exciting or new about it.
I like the mesmer because no other game offers it. It’s ANet exclusive and super fun.
I always felt that laughing at someone after you kill them is malicious and unnecessary. If custom emotes were visible to the enemy there’s no telling what some jerks would write in there to annoy their opponents.
Call me sensitive but in an mmo that prides itself on taking the most anti-grieifing measures possible, it sort of fits.
Mesmer! It’s just so versatile.
I hope not.
I actually feel like emotes should be disabled in wvw because 9 times out of 10 it’s used for griefing. Like when some guy and 5 of his buddies laugh after they kill me.
I think disabling emotes would make for a cleaner, more honorable fight. Ridiculing your opponent after you bested them is just childish and I think it goes against ANets whole mmo philosophy.
What default auto attack? You can set it to any number.
I like it the way it is now. It’s more realistic. If I want my offhand weapon to swing, I have to use an offhand ability. Makes sense to me.
No one has any thoughts? A thumbs up would be cool if you agree xD
Currently if you block a player they can still add you to friends. They can still see you online, what character and server you’re on, and where you are in the world. I feel like this needs to be corrected.
My suggestion is to make it so when you block a player they see you as offline always, and never get any information about you again and vice versa.
They should make it so all 5 members need to have story mode completed before your party can enter explorable mode.
