I just tested out the flash grenades and they definitely did 15 hits in one throw!

Flash is max 3 per grenade, as are Shrapnel and Poison, so max 9 targets. Another undocumented nerf.

Also, Flash Shell from Mokittenoes not trigger Steel Packed Powder event thought it’s in the tooltip.

Seems to go for all mortar skills atm. I definitely did some maths for #1 and it did not apply there – so no surprise thar. Might have to update it to “Steel Packed Powder does not apply to any Mortar skills”. Would have to check the flash grenades when I can.

Edit: Just checked flash grenades in spvp. They work fine. 15 hits with one throw. Please check your facts before claiming things, else this thread will become a clusterkitten of catty proportions!

The Crit Chance from High Caliber does not show up in your stats. It’s a static +10%. It can only be tested, not seen on stat windows. So all good there too. : >

So i can just hope it works ? I though you can see it on your stats

Gotta stick to hope for now! But no doubt this will be found and fixed if it doesn’t really work.

And are you sure you hit 18 targets WITHOUT the (bugged) grenadier trait on flash grenade? Because the flash grenade cap currently is 15.

Curious for those results! On engineer it definitely works as soon as you disable Static Discharge. Which sucks, because I need that trait!

‘twas 3 targets maximum on those particular grenades in the past. It didn’t show as much with poison grenades though, simply due to their field pulsing and constantly hitting other targets. I would love to have 5 targets cap on every grenade but apparently we’re not getting that with the damaging condi ones.

I’m devastated about what they’ve done to engi. Not only have they destroyed my characters visuals by simply yanking out the various kit backpacks, but they’ve taken one of the things that gave character to my Charr engineer: the mortar. Is the grenade launcher kit (and let’s be frank, that IS what this is now) any good? Sure, I guess. But I liked the old mortar kit better, and my Charr just dropping down a mortar for her warband to make use of was so awesome, and it was something the warband loved in turn. I was always getting calls to drop the mortar in the Canton so my warband could do a bit of firing practice. Also, this worries me because what was a fun, Charr themed skill has been effectively yanked from the game and is now only accessible as this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deployable_Mortar_Kit

A-Net needs to take a long look at how they’ve done this and realize that they need to work more with the community on this issue, because just yanking away our backpieces and skills like this can leave a very sour taste in a lot of players mouths. Oh, and also, please, for the love of all things holy, fix the bomb animations if you’re going to change the look for them!

“Yanking out”. You there, listen up right here. This change was -begged- for for almost three years in one of the biggest threads in the entire gw2 forums. And it was finally given to us. You want that backpack look? The engineer starter backpack looks exactly like the kit ones. And don’t come to me with “But where do I store my weapons?” – The question is “Where do I store my six backpacks?” This is a result of them working with the community, NOT the other way around! The community wanted them gone. Badly!

Yes, the mortar was a pretty RP toy. It was also useless in gameplay. And as an RPer I can tell you, that gameplay is more important than RP. There’s the bundle mortars still, and there’s usable mortars out in the world. Don’t have to hang around the Canton all day.

The bomb kit animation is broked. I don’t think anyone is arguing that. Mostly for the fact that it is not in sync with the actual attacks. That is one of the main reasons this thread exists. That is something we hope will get made better.

And the current mortar looks cheap, yes. Who knows, maybe the negative mortar look feedback will lead towards a change that makes it look more… “Charr-y”.

Was this patch great for gameplay? Yes. Did it make the Mortar usable? Yes. Did we get some pretty visuals and some completely horrid unfinished ones? Yes, and yes.

Shooting at nothing with your static flavor RP mortar that despawns after 2 minutes and is useless in gameplay is sadly not as important as actually making that thing work ingame. I’m sorry.

Well where were you supposed to store the 5 different backpacks themselves? It’s not like you drag them in a shopping cart around or anything.

Well, as a hobo you clearly were supposed to have stolen the shopping cart. Duh.

Seriously though, glad the bags are gone. And I think the reaction would be much more positive if bomb kit wasn’t so borked and mortar kit didn’t look so cheap.

Grenade barrage hits more than double targets and the grenades 1-4 do damage while piercing their target currently. Nope, it’s a bug, twist it how you will.

Shrapnel grenade ,Freeze Grenade and Poison Grenade says in the Grenade kit hit only 3 Enemies , but i don’t know ,if its right.i tested it on 4 golems and got 8 hits with shrapnel grenades.Same with the other Grenades.

I have tried it with 5 target golems around me. The maximum amount of hits at once I could manage to get on the spvp golems was 9. Keep in mind it’s 3 grenades x 3 maximum hits. That means it can be a maximum of 9 hits. Same with poison.

Freeze Grenade however has a maximum amount of targets of 5 per grenade. So 15 max. No bug there.

Now, if you got those multiple (8) hits on a SINGLE golem, then that may be related to the currently bugged / broken “Grenadier” trait, which is already on the list.

Orbital Strike’s AoE circle that enemies see isn’t matching the 360 radius.

Tested it. The visual itself is accurate to the hit area. It’s just that the effect gets culled far too quickly, so only the thin blue aiming line happens in many fights. Which is already on the list!

I misunderstood! Not sure about how fitting the ground aoe area is for the enemy team! Gonna sit down with a friend and check it out!

I’ve been playing engineer as my main for more than 2 years now and have pretty much every race aside from sylvari (which will happen soon =D) as an engi. Since the mortar nerf I just don’t see a viable playstyle for us atm (talking about wvw). This breaks my heart but the mesmer mimic skill is amazing and my mesmer looks identical to my engi main so that will be the option for me until they do something about our elite kit damage

Just wait for explosive powder to actually affect it. That will be an actual 10% on top again – and should make everyone nice and happy once more. It’s still really strong combined with glass cannon and extra damage to targets with vuln.

Yeah I tried using it, and it was cool, but once grendae barrage is fixed to not take out half of everyones health there will be no reason to use it at all.

Honestly I’d probably take alchemy over tools instead if the non HGH GM options were better, as prot injection and backpack regen are nice. Adrenal Implant, power wrench, and lock on serve me well and complement explosives/inventions nicely in a cele rifle build. I’m still debating on whether or not incendiary powder is still worth it.

No reason to not use a skill that allows you to do -two- grenade barrages? Even two non-broken grenade barrages are incredibly powerful. It’s what the 100nades build of the past was based on.

It’s also kind of really a necessity for medkit users (which is more of a pve thing, to be fair!)

Can you say for certain that it’s going to get that?

And that it’s a 100% projectile finisher. Want regen / condi removal / burn / poison up the wazoo?

Yeah, that’s a bit of an overstatement. Besides, have you actually tried to use it in this capacity? It doesn’t work nearly as well as you think it does.

I think you might want to check yourself on this last bit.

How I know it’s going to get that? It’s already being affected by explosion traits. It’s even in the tooltip. It’s just not working properly yet ingame. Why would it be affected by all other explosion traits except this one, hm? ’tis a bug.

It’s not an overstatement. I use it in that capacity all the time. And it’s hilariously easy, especially with the promised fix to make it always proc the projectile finisher as long as the mortar shot’s #1 ends up in that field. It’s going to be literally “remove a condition for attacking”. Do blind field on target or below you, spam #1. Even more amusing with fields that do blinds on projectile finisher I bet. Or your gunk’s ethereal field. I -wish- my rifle would have capacity to do aoe confusion on every #1. Having the damage of bombs without the delayed explosion and clunky casts on -top- of that was a bit unfair.

How is it easier to hit than grenades? It actually has a higher velocity than base grenades had in the past. If you compare it to grenadier, that’s a different story. But we combine a higher projectile speed with 240 radius fields, including a chill and a blind field, which makes it a lot less risky to use. That and you don’t have the melee spread issue where grenades fly upwards in some point blank situations. Nor will you despair trying to hit something like AC spiders. It also comes with a higher attack rate simply due to the shorter aftercast, so one missed attack is less serious than one missed grenade throw. Minimal difference, but a difference.

How is it less risky than rifle? Rifle is a melee weapon, through and through. Its snare hardly works at a range because it travels slow. Rifle does not give you blind access. Rifle does not give you a heal. Rifle does not allow you to do haphazard strafes with ground targets, nor does it allow 1500 range. Rifle does not allow you to guaranteed combo finishers with #1. Rifle does not have aoe at range. But that’s an empty statement, I give you this one, because if you know anything you will use both rifle and mortar in tandem.

So yeah. I’m not ignoring any facts. But try to reflect on what you’re actually writing.

Nope. Same old ones. And the whine doesn’t help anything. Try to give them concise info, try to be supportive, try to show off the issue in screenshots and video, and explain it. Tuma, your complaints if anything slow down the fixing process.

I’ve been having the same problem ever since the patch with my Elementalist,

The instances of this happening seems diminished for me on Elementalist and Mesmer both when I turn on the new “Lock ground target at maximum skill range” feature, at least as long as the ground targeted AoE’s and blinks go.

Maybe it was a thing of practice instead? Or maybe you changed a trait. The queue-ing issues seem to mostly happen when traits do active effects on F1-F5 skills.

Scientific Weapon Vendors

Or maybe not “obviously” one. The gallant weapons came out far quicker than the usual next ticket set, so they might intentionally keep the Scientific ones cheaper for a while longer – to stabilize their market and allow people to still earn one in time.

Blowtorch:

This skill always misses when shooting towards an opponent slighty sideways of yourself while moving.
Repeatablity: go to heart of the mists, and find a golem. put yourself 3m away from the golem and strafe around it by running circles. look slighty away from the golem. Your autoattack will hit just fine, but blowtorch will always miss. This is really annoying as this skill has a lot of damage.

Here is a screen. you can clearly see the fire trail going straight through the golem, yet no burn is applied.

That one’s an old issue that may not really be part of the bugs. It’s same story with the flamethrower: Both Blowtorch and FT #1 shoot where the center of the camera is, even if your character seems to aim somewhere else. It’s a fact that you can use smartly once you have some practice, but I can understand the confusion.

your nades were getting 10% explosive powder.
2% from cripple, via mod ammo.
And about 7-8% from vul stacks.
21% more damage, because you didnt isolate traits, or focus playstyle around each strengths you traited for nades.

Look. At. The. Video. The only nade traits I had were “steel backed power” “explosive powder”, and shrapnel. All of which apply to mortar as well as grenades.

I’m getting more and more convinced you are simply trolling.

Aaand that’s where your argument falls on its nose. Explosives powder does not work on mortar.

Tested it. Trait works just fine with no toolbelt skills on cooldown. Keep in mind not every successful attack dodge may be registered by the game as one. It just happens. The trait is still very strong.

I seem to sometimes have my kinteic battery buff go away when my dodge bomb explodes. Shrug We’ll have to see about that one.

Are grenades supposed to pierce? Perhaps they added it to grenades in stead of pistols by mistake?
I do hope this triad will be added to the pistol as well and the explosive on auto so i can use this instead of grenades.

Nope! Definitely unintentional. It’s only on grenadier and far far far too powerful. And the lack of the pistol baseline trait is in the list!

Just a sidenote, Mortar’s damage IS being increased by explosive powder, and is in fact being classed as an explosion. This is easy enough to tell when you run the trait Steel-packed powder, or simply look at Mortar’s skill damage and see that it’s damage is blue, not white when you’re traited with explosive powder.

Also, I’m just going to go ahead and say it because we’re thinking it: Mortar Shot’s damage decreased by too much with the latest kneejerk patch. It now only exceeds the Rifle’s damage by virtue of the explosion’s damage trait.

Well, it does by ~5% base, and additionally has the 100% projectile finisher. Was the nerf a bit overdone? Without a doubt. Engie lacks any other ranged option. But if the trait -and- the finisher are both fixed, it should be a decent skill. Now to quickly check if steel packed powder was fixed!

Edit: After some testing, I do -not- think it is actually applied. On the tooltip, yes. I only really quickly hit some dummies though, so that’s hardly maths. Lemme check s’more.

Double edit: All numbers taken without gear in the Silverwastes.

30 shots of Mortar #1 without the Explosives line:

  • 5297 damage total

30 shots of mortar #1 WITH the Explosives line (no Glass cannon traited, and no vuln applied on dummies, but Explosives Powder as a minor.)

  • 5323 damage total

Short Maths of 10 Mortar #1 shots x 3 WITH glasscannon:

  • 5589 damage total

Explosives packed powder is only applied in the tooltip!

World Boss Crits

This. All of this. I mean, kitten .

Most worldbosses if all have a untargetable spot that isn’t part of the actual worldboss that you can hit, fromthe ones I’ve done so far those were the only crittable spots. They’re generally only hit with cleave/aoe.
There’s a crittable spot you can hit at the base of jungle wurm while also hitting the wurm a second time.
One spot on the ground below the ledge on the west side at fire elemental is the crittable spot. Spot in the center can’t be crit.
For shatterer, underneath him on the ground, even while he’s in the air.
And a spot underneath claw of jormag (first phase AFAIK), even when he’s in the air. Not sure if you have to hit that spot for crit yet though.

What? Slow condition? That’s a silly presumption. It happens if F1-F5 skills proc a trait that takes the queue spot, making the actual queue not happen.

Jump Shot is now considered an “explosion” as well, so if you’re going up the Explosives tree, Jump Shot deals 10% more damage than it did pre-patch. I was running a FOTM 40 earlier this week and combined crits for over 20K damage. This is on level 82 mobs.

The rifle wasn’t nerfed. It was buffed.

Jump Shot was supposed to count as an explosion. But it doesn’t. So either they reverted that decision or it’s part of this patch’s bugs.

And bombs are also bugged as far as range goes. It seems to not really hit as far as the radius goes visually.

And Mokittenoes not profit from the 10% extra damage on explosions trait yet. Definitely a bug.

I must say, the lack of damage pulsing on the Mortar might be intentional as far as the fields go. Else it could stack vuln pretty crazily. And the little bit of damage on pulse is not a biggie, I guess! But hey, we’ll see what anet do.

Yay updates! Seems the “Orbital Strike gets culled completely as soon as any effectst are happening” thing got list dropped? ‘s probably my favorite personal lil’ issue and pet peeve to grump about atm! Well, that combined with the lack of skill queues on SD builds.

Yes, I was in WvW last night to get some dailies, me and like 3 other people went to take a tower and my orbital strike was culled with just a couple people, so its not just being lost in big zergs. Also, no enemy servers were there either, just us and the npcs.

My personal record is having orbital strike culled because a single mesmer was autoattacking. We were two total.

Can you show us your achievement list? There’s also another “lighthouse Karka” that is very very sneakily hidden behind a gap inside the lighthouse, at water level.

’tis definitely a bug. I suggest pushing it up in the bugs section of the forums! It definitely screws up with Static Discharge equipped as well as some Mesmer skills. Thread even links to a proof video.

And it’s double annoying in light of the orbital strike skill we got (next to its visual regularly not even showing when anyone else is around).

If at least our +10% explosives damage trait would -work- on the mortar…

But hey, the list of bugs has 45 things by now. So that’s fun. Several are related to Mortar #1.

Hey, ruse! I suggest taking up the changelog space and reducing the size of the fixed bugs’ fields if you actually do run out of space.

Just don’t expect us to build anything that doesn’t explode.

At least we don’t do 10% extra damage to our RL faces with those explosions currently.

Oh, I got another one. “Throw Stimulant” does not remove weakness if multiple stacks were applied. To test this, fight a veteran reef rider and let them stack some weakness on you. Every stimulant removes only a few seconds.

Also not sure if the “Throw Bandages” skill is seriously meant to remove a single stack of bleed / poison / burn.

Bump. Because clarification would be nice at least. If Precision was supposed to be less effective than it is now, that’s okay. But notes are always a beloved thing!

I presume it’s because no queueing actually happens when instant skills are used.

I think so.
I have done some tests. This bug only occurs with trait “Static Discharge”.

Added that factoid. Will properly check myself when I am back on the computer.

  • Skill queues do not work for skill with cast times if a Toolbelt skill was previously used.

Will work after instant toolbelt skills (Incendiary Ammo).

I presume it’s because no queueing actually happens when instant skills are used.
