Jara Ariasdottir (Soon all classes proper!)
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
i have experienced a bug with queueing my bombs.
example: big ol bomb -> smokebombThis bug with all engineer’s toolbelt skills with cast time (regeneratin mist, grenade barrage, big ol bomb etc).
I’ve recorded 15 sec video with it: https://youtu.be/uTvOzU-YoUA
I’ve found out, that abilities with cast time don’t work (jump shot, grenades, bombs, blunderbuss, acid bomb, another toolbelt skill with cast time etc). But fast abilities work with no problem (net shot, overcharged shot etc).
So, let’s put this together as:
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
They don’t provide anything on the ground and are -just- projectile finishers?
The poison field makes you apply more poison with every hit. Orbital Strike applies weakness twice that way. Poison pulses.
The chill field pulses its effect. High duration beginning chill. Decent damage. Large radius. Every projectile finisher applies more chill. Blasting ice fields for frost armor is not really worth it much.
Flash shell: Pulsing blindness, decent damage on first hit. Remove a condition with every #1 that passes through an enemy. Soon for every #1 that hits an enemy with an explosion via fixes. Some classes would -kill- for a ranged aoe blind pulse that does damage on top.
Water field: It’s a -water field-. And it lasts a lot longer than the healing turret one.
#1: Still a lot more damage than rifle and definitely surprisingly close to grenades due to the low aftercast time. Projectile finisher (100%). Can be used with other fields that are not on the mortar itself too. How about them 5 confusion stacks from your gunk? How about perma-blind with some other fields?
Mortar is about creativity > pure damage. Grenades are stronger, yes, but not a -ton- and making them weaker than mortar would have been odd too considering their arc, slow travel speed and requirement for a trait to fix at least one of the latter, non?
Btw: Anet are aware burn is broken currently. But applying a fix to the entire formula might be a bit more complicated than we think. Putting down some mesmer and mortar numbers was not as much a biggie.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
In pve, the medkit is a really nice choice I found. Permafury is an option, swiftness gets an extra on top and the two seconds of resistance is perfect to quickly use your heal skill without being bothered by poison.
Really, the only skills I don’t like much is the weak regen that is applied by the bandage on #2 and the complete waste that is #1. Even though #1 at least looks cool.
Sure, throwing them takes a bit of getting used to. But especially with the “never get out of range” option we have for ground targeted skills now I don’t have much troubles using it.
And for the water field? I got mah mortar for that now.
I bound my “T” key to F5. It’s very comfy. Heck, my suggestion for keybinds atm is…
F1, F2, F3, F4, T
1 – 2 – 3 – 4 -5 – C – Q – E – R – V
After the patch we are AS ALWAYS the most bugged class in the game. Every core specialization has at least 3/5 bugs… And another 3/4 bus are on the skills…. And the first thing you do is nerfing our only ranged/slow/gound target attack by 28%….
Why you’re priority is not to correct the insane ammount of bugs this patch brought to engineer?
A general semblance of spvp balance is very important for the game to run semi smoothly while the bugs are being ironed out. Overfocusing either issue is not good.
The thing is:
See it positively. A nerf was going to happen in SOME aspect. Now we got it behind us. Mesmers don’t have it easy right now either. And other classes still have the nerf hammer in front of them.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
I thought the aidea of mortar was that the fields do less damage than the #1? Because there’s not a lot of that difference left. Pretty much none.
But hey, moar thief buffs and stronger burns plz? Moar ele buffs too! Nerfing our mortar kit a by what, 15% I’d have accepted. But putting it down to rifle level?
Edit:
I tried the mortar changes out a bit and they are not -quite- as unreasonable as one might think. Especially if the bugs get fixed it could still be very strong. As people pointed out: It hits a bit faster than grenades. And rifle is a single target at that. That and the fields are still very strong -and- do damage on being applied. Still, an extra 5% couldn’t hurt? Maybe? Bargaining! Whee!
Anet seem to know what they’re doing on this one. Let’s just hope for bugfixes.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
And another one.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
Figured it happened before! And I had it happen even with the mini turned off, but good to know this can be one reason. Gonna add Digital’s stuff to this list probably-tomorrow! Gonna have a lazy night.
I highly suggest putting all those bugs into
this thread because that way it stays vailable with an overview! Or atl east cross-check if they aren’t already listed!
Ah! Wonderful. Will teach me to check the bug section properly next time.
Seriously though, thanks for your effort. I’ll try to snoop up more issues and make sure to have them in here, or make sure you get them one way or another, Digital!

Going to just post my comprehensive list from the engineer subforum into this thread!
Heya everyone! Been thinking we ideally should make a bug collection thread that gets updated by everyone here over time!
Try to keep this list updated and bumped to the top to help Anet devs fix these issues as fast as humanly possible, please! If new issues come in, try to post them in replies. I’ll not be checking this list all day but I’ll try to make sure to keep everything in here!

After checking them out, I must say, yes, the LA cannons would be a wonderful model base for a mortar that looks up to date, heavy, strong, and does not interfere with any armor colors.
The real issue though is the bomb kit. Those broken animations need to be fixed. ASAP. It’s unplayable.
Yes, because it once again works with no armor or other look, really. It’s also a huge step backwards for Tyria. They started out with simple charr and steam tech. Then came the Pact with big and blue and shiny things. Then they improved that. Magitech came to its rise. Scarlet happened!
Then they went back to a completely broken tube that looks like it’s older than the first rifle skin in the game.
Did ou try -moving- with them on, Shifu? Imagine actual wings moved like those new foam / pillow toys.
To me, of all the things that have occurred over the last week, the wings are the most discouraging. I’m embarrassed to even wear them. Might as well attach two pillows to my back and let me run around.
Pillows with broken physics*
I simply can’t believe they would pass off breaking something and removing all modeling base as a “bug fix”. Too rigid? They are -wings-. Not pillows.
I wish Kit refinement was an “only during combat” trait and that the mortar gunk would be replaced by something else because all it does is kitten up fire fields in pve.
And all other fields. The entire point of mortar #1 was supposed to be having a projectile finisher. But you can now only proc gunk.
Yes, it wasn’t pretty.
But it was -playable-.
Current bombs aren’t. They are literally broken.
Current Mortar has unfinished visuals. It looks worse than a level 1 rifle. The #1 has a completely wrong and off size. The blind shell visual does not even slightly work.
Grenade kit visuals’ dingla dangles actually make me uncomfortable.
That’s a -lot- worse than a bit of the back of my head poking through a piece of wood on grenade kit and temporarily not seeing my backpiece. Because it’s not -functional-. It’s -unfinished-. This should not be what we waited nearly three years for.
Well, apparently removing all rigging and bones was their “Hotfix” already, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Clarification would be nice though. Because i this broken mess was “intended” I may just request a refund… which makes me sad.
I was excited for white wings for several months. Used the black ones for several months until this far too late, far too kittenty “fix”. The black wings were initially so popular because they were modeled well and moved slightly. Now they are just… I don’t even know what that is. They are made of cloth.
Maybe they should change all the ingame birds’ wings to behave like that. Then at least we could see hilariously broken floppy foam stuck to bird bodies.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
And I’m glad you are, PistolWhip. I appreciate the effort.
But we shouldn’t have to take it. It’s a broken trait with procs that make no sense top to bottom.
The pull bomb? Never where you want it, with an odd range, a -weird- delay, and a guarantee to mess up your combos.
The mine? It randomly explodes. Sometimes instantly, sometimes 10 seconds in, sometimes 2 seconds. It’s an erratic mess.
Super speed? Who needs that on top of their swiftness proc?
The gunk field? Overwrites any combo field I set up before it in hopes of comboing any effect.
The fire shield? Useless. Just, useless.
The magnetic shield? Probably the only acceptable thing. Lasts what, a second?
Superspeed is 2 seconds. How can this be abused or used to run around with? Not being snarkey. I’d really like to know.
I meant in terms of avoiding combat. You can just use tool kit to run around with Streamlined cuz all it does is give you Super Speed, that is all I meant.
“I should totally be forced to run tool kit in order to run around out of combat without instantly proccing random combat!”
I’d generally suggest about anyone disappointed with the removal of all bones / rigs of the original wing pieces, making them behave like broken floppy foam, to request a refund for their gems spent. It’s a completely ridiculous change you won’t have to take. I have yet to find anyone that wants them this ridiculously floppy and ugly.
#BringBackTheSack
Seriously though. I was initially glad they were gone, but they somehow managed to
A) Gut the winged backpiece by making it behave like floppy foam
B) Completely break all bomb kit animations to the point of it being unusable and actually GETTING YOU STUCK MID MOTIONS REGULARLY. It’s actually unplayable. And those broken animations sure as hell were not in the guild halls trailer.
C) Make the Mortar literally look like someone spent less than two minutes to make a rough placeholder model sketch with low quality texture and low poly model. The mortar kit clearly wasn’t finished. #1 skill has a 120 explosion raius but that’s not what the skill radius actually is. The Flash Shell doesn’t even work. The sounds are completely HORRID. And of course “Bobby’s first attempt at 3D modeling” is our new mortar kit.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
I like the look of the mortar kit, looks like a huge kitten shotgun on my Asura.
Maybe you should look at it up close then. It looks literally worse than the first darksteel rifle, and i doesn’t even thematically fit an Asura, nor a Charr. The mortar actually looks lore wise -outdated- for GW2’s magitech and Pact standard.
And the bomb kit animations actually made the kit unplayable to me for a while, so not sure what I’ll make of -that-. I literally get locked into broken animations, get stuck, and cannot tell when anything drops or procs. The animations and the cast times are 100% different. Would like some clarification if this is a bug. Definitely wasn’t like this in the guild halls trailer.
And Zorby, it’s a mortar. Not a pre-blunderbuss attempt at a bad grenade launcher that never worked. And even then, Tyria’s technology is far past it. Look at the kitten flamethrower. It’s beautiful since launch. But THIS? Heck, even that thing you linked is prettier than the model we received.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
They removed literally all bones and rigging from the wings, making them behave like slow motion foam. Ridiculous. My favorite backpiece, and several RP plans destroyed to a lazy lazy lazy fix. Refunds are being considered.
placeholder
For the next three years?
Well, at least you’re optimistic.
Also, kinda very disappointed that a DOUBLE orbital strike hits for less than a single grenade barrage with 6 nades.
And hardly at land. Unless you really wanna spend 2.5 to 3 seconds just to get that 5 seconds fury. Or spend 3 seconds for supposedly 2 seconds of resistance, which seems to tick down in 1 second.
… The mortar is just a friggin’ darksteel rifle.
A DARKSTEEL RIFLE.
Just give us Horrik’s cannon already instead. Make us look kitten instead of having a lvl 40 rifle.
And that bomb kit animation…
It actually has less quality texture and detail than the Darksteel rifle. Yep.
It actually just doesn’t say so in the tooltips. They seem to explode with a 240 radius for me.
Not that it matters. The broken visuals make the entire bomb kit an unusable mess.
The animation actually makes it unusable to me. The timing literally does not line up with the cast times.
Add the insult on top that the mortar looks like complete crap.
Add on top that predator grenade barrage effects do not work unless you trait the now optional grenadier.
Add on top that the Mortar’s flash shell visual was not finished. The mortar’s #1 I don’t even know what the radius is. The visual is tiny, the hit area seems to be entirely off from the animation.
Add on top that the Streamlined Kits’ mine that spawns under you explodes whenever it wants, sometimes instantly, sometimes after ten seconds, sometimes after five, sometimes never.
Add on top of that that cast times completely broke the medkit’s viability – no more five seconds of fury, that much is sure.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
Yea pls Anet at least little effort here thx.
I actually can’t tell if this is sarcastic or not so forgive me.
But if they are going to make such massive change to our classes aesthetics like this, it would have been nice if they did it 100% spot on, and not go stupidly lazy on mortar/bombs when they made such a nice change on the others.
I can guarantee you he was quite serious. Bomb kit animations being so broken you legitimately cannot time them properly anymore and the mortar being probably the worst skin that has ever happened to gw2 is kind of… you know.
Let’s list some of the things that happened, hm?
Medkit: High cast times. At least the shiny syringe effect stays for a while even after you picked it up sometimes. The skill shot element makes it useless.
Bomb kit: The animations are completely broken. I can literally not tell what is happening when I use it, and the animation makes it impossible to judge how far your skill cast is. It is actually wrongly timed! But hey, at least I can now be the master of telekinesis! I honestly thought I was locked in via some bug when using it several times before I realized the timing is completely off and does not work.
Mortar: Horrible visual is all I’ll say. It’s actually a piece of crap. It looks WORSE than the level 1 rifle. I -like- the level 1 rifle. This? are you kittening serious, Anet? In the times of Pale Reaver snipers and magitech, we get a wooden piece of crap? Some broken pot? With an inappropriate sound to boot? The flash shell’s visual does not work either. It’s -broken-.
Grenade kit: Legendary effect on Grenade Barrage is gone on untraited grenades.
Streamlined kits? The grenade kit mine does what it wants. Sometimes it stays five seconds, sometimes it stays 10, sometimes it explodes instantly. Grenades looking horrible has been discussed too.
And on a side note: They completely broke the wings too.
Thank you? THANK YOU?
Did you SEE that abomination of a 1500s broken pot calling itself a mortar? Did you -see- the broken phosphorous shell visual?
Did you SEE how our bombs now actually commit telekinesis? And if we don’t do that, our character goes into some kneel animation that is entirely untuned with the actual cast time.
I mean really..immersion? Some people roleplay you know, they have their own back story, maybe there’s a reason they have wings or some stupid annoying robot saying stuff constantly.
Mah Owl blessing, worked on for many a year! No spots though (which female Owls have!), but that’s fine enough!
There literally is no way to solve this problem except letting us turn off
Lelno. Just deal with it. That’s like asking Anet to turn everyone into an Asura.
something to note. Unless they changed it with this patch, the blast finishers for turret detonation happen on the location of the Engi, not the turret.
Yep, yep! The combo happens directly next to the healing turret either way though, so it should not be an issue!
“I’ve seen FotM level 50 groups in LFG that state “no black wings” so clearly this is a problem.”
Where are you people playing that has these crazy LFGs with silly demands? Where I play, people just ask for 70 AR and go.
Probably in the Ridiculous LFG and Pug posts thread.
Fix your camera settings to not stare at the floor with your camera an inch behind your character at the lowest possible height! An increased FoV, character height scaling, and a vertical notch up go a long way for something as mundane as wings to not take away from your field of vision for dungeon bosses at all!
Here, have some recommended settings. Maybe you’ll be less issued by a few backpieces then.
why does it censor it to Mokitten? And i agree with the above statement. Puppies need buffs.
Because of Mo – rtar – d word. 8D
Heya everyone! Due to the extensive wait for today’s patch, and the Slight sadness about the lack of the baseline range trait for the Bomb Kit, I figured I’d put up a fun little combo that will become available post patch.
What does it do?
Quite easy: It blasts 24 stacks of might in the duration of a single (Flamethrower) fire field or even 8 times in any other field type, and allows you to have all your utility choices intact. In fact, this rotation tries to mostly utilize toolbelts over spending utility cooldowns. You can also do this combo approximately every 40 seconds, depending on your Orbital Strike cooldown.
Keep in mind that this combo will put your Orbital Strike, your Big Ol’ Bomb and your Healing Turret on cooldown, so it’s a personal sacrifice for group might! It also requires the Siege Rounds trait!
How does it work?
Weapon: Shield
Heal: Healing Turret
Utility 1: Thumper turret
Utility 2: Flamethrower
Utility 3: Elixir Gun
Elite: Mortar with a -traited- Orbital Strike
Get to the Combo already!
Okay, here it comes. The entire combo might need a practice run or two but should be not a whole lot more challenging than an elementalist rotation.
And there you go! 24 Might stack, mostly utilizing your Toolbelt slots and allowing you to keep any and all utilities and weapons of your choice slotted in before combat starts.
Quick note: Should the bomb kit get an increased fire field radius via the old “Forceful Explosives” trait being rolled in baseline, using supply crate for 4 instant blasts would also be an option that could save you on having to use your heal skill as well as your big ol’ bomb, or would allow you to use one of these for full 25 might. This would come with a full supply crate cooldown though, which we know is massive.
(edited by Sold Out.7625)
Just gonna bump this to the top because importance. The 240 range bombs really would be heavily needed to make the entire kit more… usable.
Overcharged shot never triggered our own traits, and this particular one only reacts to blind! I am not aware of any self-blinding happening with OS. :>
Oh, wonderful. 40s is more than good enough for a reactionary trait that breaks stuns
Keep in mind with it proccing on blindness being applied it will very very rarely really serve the stunbreak function.
Quickly checked the stream. Calmon-Huang stated that “it runs off the same cooldown as Utility goggles.”
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Utility_Goggles
So 40 seconds cd seems about right. Would almost argue that 20 would be better, but it is what it is.
That said, it can be affected by other gadget traits! Probably including the overcharge one.
The fabled “Nadebike” elite stance.
Improves your grenade attack speed by 500%, gives five extra grenades per throw.
Gives negative stability. Every time you attack, you swerve with your bike and need to manually fix your camera situation. An advanced “drunk” effect.
Toolbelt: Chain reaction. Explode all the grenades on you in a nuclear explosion. 20.000 damage base. Downs yourself and leaves your downed state with unremovable radiation poisoning. Also makes you smell like garlic and onions.
Jokes aside, I’m a bit sad that the new grenade kit really does look this cheap and rushed. But to quote someone dear to me: “Still better than the stupid backpacks.”
Yeah, I feel it is unessicary effort to have to worry about item placement with med kit. I really hope they decide to allow it to work similarly to its current functionally.
+1
I was for years now the unusual underdog that rolled medkit – with less condi removal but a lot more fury uptime in pve. In spvp and wvw it was a death sentence. But now I might end up with healing turret in pve too.
With the changes…
A) Healing turret will do damage and a knockback baseline on top of being a condi removal aoe healing blast.
B) Medkit will be so much clunkier to use. When I’m in a party of five people and desperately need, say, a condi removed or my fury upkeep taken care of, I can currently press the skill and take a step forward, minding to not stack into some ranger pet or something.
After the changes I will have an additional travel time and will need to manually aim during a combat that already has me aim grenades, mortar, and all toolbelts. Maybe even static discharge, which would cause me to need my camera centered on the enemy. And in that kind of pure chaos, switching to the medkit, getting the right condi removal bandage for a specific condi / getting the fury pack, throwing it at your own feet without even slight inaccuracies or risking a teammate getting it will be so much harder than HT. A shame too, because I love the lowered toolbelt CD, the syringe look and the magnetic shield on Streamlined Kits.
Nobody ever took the thrown medkit skills trait even for fun because it really made it worse for yourself. The thought is appreciated but with a switch time, a cast time, a travel time, and the necessity of very exact precision, the knowledge what pack to use, and the time needed to swap out of medkit, healing turret might win this race. Especially with us getting at least some fury uptime via traits.

Core game is a free bonus to a set Heart of Thorns price to incentivize new players to get the game and not have them pay double.
Your post is pointless.
Nobody misses you. Go away.
…while ignoring existing players…..
Ain’t you an Entitled Ethan?
how hard is it to make another purchase option of “xpac only edition” at slightly lower price?
Because THIS IS THE EXPANSION PRICE. Live with it. You don’t pay more for the Core game. But reading is hard, I know.
Are you being paid for YELLING?
No, just for typing in capslock. Seriously though, you don’t pay extra for the core game, and it’s as simple as that. New players just don’t have to buy both things, because that would be a big incentive to never try the game.
