Recovery Matrix has no internal cooldown and triggers on both Healing Turret and Cleansing burst, allowing very high protection uptime from the normal HT+overcharge+pickup routine.

Hah, now that’s a silly hope. It also doesn’t trigger when you equip your medkit, so you can rest assured it should only pop up once.

AM definitely preferring chop it all. Fused seems like it would burn the wood you’re trying to chop.
Plus, chop it all logging, fused mining and consortium sickle are the starter set, the first t(h)ree harvesting tools ever introduced!

Guys, stop posting in reply to this incredibly dumb suggestion. Else someone will end up thinking that this guy is right even though he clearly isn’t, and the faster this thread dies, the better.
Also, stop looking at healing skills in a vacuum. We don’t have something like a water attunement that can just instantly heal everyone in a large area, we don’t have life leech, we don’t have fast stealth beyond our new wonky-at-best gyro. And the reason the healing gyro is bad is that it runs away from the owner.

So, generally, with other races having this issue on rifle, it might be that there’s a general animation setting to let it move back to your idle stance without snapping missing. The backpiece and jumping issues either way are very painful to look at.

Just want to point out that Magnet Pullis not getting fixed. The main issue is that the pull doesn’t work (which is not changing).
The change we are getting is that it actually functions at max skill range.
As far as Flamethrower goes, I’m curious though. If they remove the burn requirement for damage on it at all, it could be strong enough for at least pvp. Not PvE.

Hello everyone!
Human Female rifle animations are heavily bugged for a while now. 3 years, to be more or less exact!
- If you run with your Rifle / Flamethrower / Elixir Gun drawn and stop, instead of just smoothly settling into the standing animation, your backpiece teleport-spazzes for a second. This used to be a huge issue with kit backpacks and will be no less of an issue if one wants to enjoy legendary backpieces of the future.
- If you jump while running forward with your rifle drawn, your entire character’s body suddenly teleport-spazzes into the actual rifle idle animation, instead of quickly moving to it or anything. Other animations naturally settle in this game though, so maybe there’s a script missing?
If it is so desired, I can add video evidence to this thread. But this has kinda been really really really annoying me for three years now, to the point of always trying to sheathe my weapon even when combat has been over for a second tops so I don’t see my backpack freak out.
Can this get fixed at some point? I know HoT is a big importance right now, but there’s -always- something being made of big importance, and even the Mortar kit recently saw an animation change. I’d love to see that at least the animation guys get pitched that this is an issue, that’s really all I’m asking.

Is it an actual bug? In one of the other threads mentioned that +60 range wasn’t the promise just that 240 radius would be the baseline.
The 240 range wasn’t properly applied – it’s there visually but not in actual gameplay. Anet fixed that finally – and forgot two of the bombs.
So this is an exercise in frustration. That and the skill queue bug with static discharge.

My lowest hit without explosive powder was 649, with explosive and 3 vuln it was 737. 649*1.1*1.03 = 735.3 seems to be right around where it should be. 649 is 2408 power and had 1000+ tests, 737 is 2408 power and had ~70 hits, 737 showed up 4 times

Yep, explosives powder seems to finally be applied now. It’s not listed yet but whee.

If you have time can you dig up the thread, all I ever saw was the livestream with the “it will be able to combo finish statement” but they didn’t say what type of combo.
Explosive powder and steel-packed powder are both affecting mortar 1, didn’t bother to test the other 3.

As far as the explosive powder goes, people had varying results, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Would have to check if it works once more, probably on the silverwastes dummies. Easiest place to test these things.

Self bandage does not scale with mechanized deployment (15% toolbelt skill recharge reduction). throw accelerant (med kit #4) cant be picked up if you dont have a movement impairing condition on you (remnant of pre patch) all the other condition cleanses can be picked up regardless if you have condies on you. #3 has a different cast time then #2 #4 and #5 (probably a mistake). Ow and remove the ground targeting because it’s scheisse.
- #4 can always be picked up fine. NO BUG
- #3’s cast time is intentional. Cast times don’t accidentally have the fitting animations either. NO BUG
- Ground targeting is intentional. NO BUG
- Transmute always just converted one stack. NO BUG
POST ACTUAL FREAKING BUGS HERE, PEOPLE, INSTEAD OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT BALANCE. MOVING THIS FROM THE BUG FORUM TO THE ENGINEER FORUM WAS HORRIBLE. HERE ARE SOME ACTUAL BUG EXAMPLES:
- Some people were unsure about the Mortar’s projectile finisher working: We previously had confirmation that the projectile finisher was supposed to proc as long as the explosion hits a combo field. If anyone has severe heartburn about it, I can dig up the red post about it with some work. BUG
- Explosive Powder does not properly proc on Mortar, making us miss 10% damage: BUG
- Static Discharge still breaks Skill Queues, causing actual hand pains thanks to needing to spam your skills.. BUG
- Reactive Lenses basically never works. BUG
- Bomb Radius smaller than visual (180 instead of 240). BUG

I meant interesting as far as pve goes.
Know any pve group dungeon vids or can you give a description of how it goes in a group?
For pvp the profession choices arent that difficult, due to being insta lvl 80 in heart of the mist. So you can swap to something else quite easily if you dislike it but for pve you have to invest more time to lvl to 80, so therefore I restricted the question to pve.
Because my choice for that part I find more difficult.I hope the 2h engineer weapon will still allow for builds that can fight at range.
Either due to some ranged attacks with that weapon, due to kit combinations or preferably both.
I can guarantee you that hammer will be pure melee with some mobility. Rifle on the engineer at this point is a melee weapon with range capabilities (Essentially a shotgun / rifle / cc / mobility thing).
As far as group play goes I can tell you that the dps on engineer is the third highest in the game right now (highest in sustained condi, but due to a lack of icebows and stunbreaks not always perfect). That said, we have the most insane combos even in pve and will CONSTANTLY swap kits, making engineers more interesting than any other class imo.
In any group run scenario your versatility is amazing. You’ll apply not only vuln and might to your party, you’ll also be able to block, use reflect walls, stack stealth (which only thieves and very temporarily mesmers can otherwise), and have enough mobility skills to zip all over the place if needed. You’ll also leave enemies chilled, poisoned and bleeding and burning all day even in a power build.
Do note that Brazil’s combo is not be-all and end-all. Once static discharge finally gets its skill queue fix orbital strike will be part of the burst combo even more than now.

This is the kind of absolute top crazy plays an Engineer can do in theory. In practice you won’t. This was pre Vigor (gamewide) nerf and had a faster flamethrower reflect.
The elite spec will use hammer.

Yeah I’d probably avoid the mastery despite its other advantages if the swiftness wasn’t toggleable
(I hope something similar occurs for the Chronomancer speed trait because I don’t want to have to switch builds and unequip shield and wells every time I want to go normal speed)
At least that would just be 25% and would come without annoying speedlines all day! And you at least would have -kind- of a way to turn it off by switching masteries. Which is more than the Pact Commander mastery has right now!

Skill Queue issue is still the most lethal thing for the profession. Literally the reason I have not tried to pvp properly since the specializations patch – I’d wanna get into the ‘new’ pvp experience with my most comfortable class.
Bombs are probably about equal in how heavy the issue is, with that radius.
OH, AND THE GODDMAN MORTAR BUGS WITH THE EXPLOSIVES TRAITS.

oh is it automatic? I thought you had to talk to an NPC still, its just that their speed is increased. Or that you would have to toggle on your icon
You can toggle the speed buff. According to the blog, you have to have the Mentor tag on to have the speed buff active. I think the OP is asking for an option to keep the tag on but to disable the speed buff.
No. In the video they had the speedbuff without the symbol on. If it wasn’t that way, everyone would toggle the mentor icon on just for the swiftness and the entire map would be little blips.
But we don’t have a toggle for the swiftness.

Heya everyone!
With the recent post: Pact Commander Mastery there was a big point mentioned in the video:
Permanent Swiftness: It comes with a 33% movement speed and a permanent speedlines effect like normal swiftness while in cities. (At least it was that way in the actual stream.)
I want to suggest a Toggle for the Permanent Swiftness buff that this Mastery gives to players! Due to…
- The Jumping Puzzles in Lion’s Arch not always needing swiftness given to them at all times – permanent swiftness would make things like Troll’s Revenge a ton harder!
- The visual effect spam! Imagine every player constantly having the weird speedlines as they move around the map. In the actual POI stream, having the Pact Commander Swiftness meant you constantly have the swiftness speed lines! This is a bunch of visual clutter that makes our characters look worse and can heavily intrude on yes, RP too.
- People don’t always want to run at full speed. While I don’t doubt that a majority of the time it can be practical, I often see people intentionally avoiding using swiftness buffs in cities to avoid the visual effect or to just enjoy the view more slowly.
I’m sure more people have personal opinions on this, but these are some of the biggest offenders.
tl;dr: Permanent swiftness gives an obnoxious visual effect and speed all the time that can ruin good views, make JPs incredibly hard, and would be VERY annoying for roleplayers. Can we have a toggle like the Mentor icon?

Right now (and for the last 6 hours or so already if I am to believe the official forums) the Norn starting mission is literally impossible to complete. The gate is closed, jumping around it is blocked by invisible walls, and guesting does not work due to the starting maps now being megaserver-instanced. Consider yourself warned if you had plans to make a Norn any time soon.
Yeah, the Norn starting mission on EU broke again. So anyone intending to make a Norn be again warned. My thief is stuck in the starting mission a week now because I didn’t touch it for a few days out of frustration.
Keep in mind that…
- You can’t fix it by guesting anymore.
- That if it has a temp fix tomorrow it will be bugged again in a week unless Anet decide to add a fix.
This thing needs to be fixed. People are getting very frustrated.

Anet have already pointed out that they are aware of the bug concerning the Revenant: Stating that traits that proc instant skills break the Skill Queue System. Apparently adding a fix will take a while still though, else they’d have made sure to have it for this beta.

For spvp i love my ranger and mesmer, both have great dps, good survivability and lots of utility, i never ever had a problem against an engie 1vs1 in arena, doesn’t matter if i am holding or attacking a point.

If I were engineer I would probably go PP or PS, and for elementalist probably DD or SD, but im yet to look into it more. Does this help?
- These only affect Spvp directly, and you should in no way disregard the rifle on engineer or the staff on elementalist.
- Atm Engineer wins out on sustained condition dps in pve. That would be your PP setup.
- Atm Elementalist thanks to Ice Bow is the strongest dps class for power in the game, and it shares those ice bows. But you will have to use staff for that eventually. SD is a pvp burst setup.
- On the tanking department on points elementalists are currently better. They have better condition mitigation, which is important with all those burns going around atm.
- Both classes feel similarly keyboard piano, engineer might need slightly more buttonpresses than elementalist and is more varied but at the cost of downsides like not as much condi removal, or projectile destruction, or invuln.
Honestly, main issue with engineers atm is the skill queue bug crippling the often taken Static Discharge trait and that makes comparisons hard. It completely messes up the class gameplay and I can’t believe they would have world tournaments before fixing it.
Keep in mind there are no pve bunkers. It just has no purpose atm.
Honestly, it depends on you: Do you like focus on the elementalist? Then an elementalist bunker could work. That or a staff build.
Do you like to throw grenades on engineer? It’s hard but the payoff is huge and you can’t do without grenades.
Go by what you enjoy more from the feel of it. For sPvP you can make alts all day anyway.

Anyone else still cancelling their skills? I thought the skill queuing was fixed?
Priority should go, Dodge > heal > all other non-instant cast.
Been cancelling a lot of my toolbelt skills especially just by pressing 1. :/
If you have autoattacks activated, you won’t have to actively press 1. If you use grenades, try to time it a little, you’ll manage eventually.

So, I might need some help here.
I seem to have had the effect that agony in Fractals does not reduce my healing efficiency of Medkit’s bandage self by 50% and instead the heal removes a single agony stack (?) and does not do ANY healing. I’ve had several heals go on full cooldown without -any- healing documented in even the combat log.
Can someone with fractals 50 prove this for me? Something is wonky here.

Does anyone know if trait reactive lenses became bugged after this patch? Because it seems like it doesn’t proc on some control skills like knockdown and knockback. It was working for me before July 28th patch…

Predator effects are now gone from Static Discharge.
Flamethrower Flame Jet now shoots into the ground while moving due to following your camera ONLY while you’re moving about.

Yep! Previously, about half the static discharge skills would proc the Predator effect and kill targets with the burning animation.
Now those are gone too, just as much as grenade barrage. Only have autoattack and jump shot sounds now. :v

All I’d like would be for the Mortar to not look like a white quality 1 copper salvage item and I’d be happy. The flamethrower looks amazing since launch, so why this Mortar look?

You don’t even get the 8 seconds to cast it, because it can run out while you’re casting your skill. That is absolutely brutal when casting orbital strike, because it will only proc at the moment the skill would go on cooldown.
Hilariously enough though, if you get INTERRUPTED kinetic battery goes away too. So I guess anet made it intentionally very clunky in order to ‘balance’ it better.

The saddest thing is that they announced that a full set of legendaries won’t even be in the expansion when Heart of Thorns hits, so we will have to wait EVEN longer for those.

There are some updates on this rule from way back though.
The macro rule only excludes macros that give you a gameplay / combat advantage. Hence the music instruments being 100% allowed to be running with macros. They don’t condone it, but they aren’t against it for those macros.
Read up more on the updated conditions to macros here:
tl;dr: If you can use it in combat or to bot, you’ll get banned. Other than that, you’ll be fine.

These should be added to the list of bugs:
- Magnet: It works inconsistent. Sometime it doesn’t pull person at all sometimes it flings to air and sometimes it looks like it didn’t pull even though it pulled fine. These happen so randomly but happen way too much and makes the skill unreliable. I recently found out that if you start channeling this skill while you are going up on stairs, it will not pull the enemy even if you are not on stairs anymore and at the same ground at your enemy. You can try this at side points on temple of the silent storm.
- Minefield: Forceful explosives made baseline but mines are still at 180 radius. This makes it almost impossible to hit all 5 mines. Please fix this asap because minefield is unusable without it.
- Mortar: Projectile finisher does not work at all. Even if you hit enemies. I tried it on golems and none of the fields on mortar generated and effect on me or enemy golem.
The Mortar issue is already on the list! And few forceful explosives things made it baseline. Even the bomb kit is apparently just visually 240 but not in actual cameplay.
