I have no idea if this thread is still being looked at by devs, but here is my suggestion.

Since we can’t have helmets with hair (because of technical reasons), how about we get some head items for back items? I’ve seen this done somewhere before but I can’t find a good pic at the moment.

For like Cowboy Hats or Giant Witch Hats, players could wear them on their back as a back item since they can’t be shown on their head with their actual hair. Of course, these would need to be new skin items.

Even with HoT, Anet has said they’re looking at ways to keep the original world relevant.

I have a question on the same topic, is this “bonus slot” IN ADDITION to the on you get if you go for a more expensive version of the base one, or is it the same slot ?
Sum up, do i get 2slot if i buy collector or deluxe ?

Yes. You get TWO slots. You get the 1st one right away and the 2nd one comes in a few days after.

Since I bought the Digital Deluxe version, I know this for fact.

Sad loss of Heroes & Henchmen

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sonickeyblade.8415

Sonickeyblade.8415

I’d like it if Henchmen or Heroes were in GW2. And if people don’t like them, don’t use them.

But don’t be diluted to thinking that LFG works as intended. Make a group solely for seeing the story and you could be waiting up to an hour in a half easy to get a group. Anyone else using that tool is looking to Zerg through the missions and in some extreme situations, they will even boot/kick you for not using an optimal spec.

I don’t see that mindset changing. Again, these are the same dungeons some people have been playing for 3 years now. It’s only understandable – albeit regrettable – if they don’t have time for new players to these dungeons.

With that said, I think the Hero system from GW1 makes sense. It was smart to leave it out on release, but now it makes sense.

Thief needs rifle, not melee staff

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Sonickeyblade.8415

Sonickeyblade.8415

Wow. This conversation is insane. And it’s been going on for awhile. But it seems folks who want flavor prefer Staff Thief, folks who want a better fighting option want Rifle.

However… it seems that people want Rifle Theif because Dual Pistols and Shortbows are bad on Thief. Wouldn’t it make better sense to fix DP and Shortbows instead of leaving them “bad” and putting Rifle Thief in as a bandage?

I wouldn’t mind either or, but Staff Thief is definitely the cooler of the two. With that said I would like a buff to DP Thief as well. Honestly, I don’t see why DP Thief’s auto attack isn’t some version of Unload. The other moves for DP Thief are pretty bad. If anything, the best argument for Rifle Thief over Staff Thief is that Shortbow and Pistols are so bad, thieves need another option.

And while agree with that statement, I think that’s a bad way to approach design. I rather they fix the previous ranged options before giving them another that might be just as bad.

"Fixed" Monk Outfit - Updated July 28th

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sonickeyblade.8415

This outfit looked really cool when first released but I decided to hold out on it.

And now I am glad I did. It keeps having a ton of issues. And the skirt issue is totally a thing. I’ve noticed that it seems to look cut off/censored once you go pass the higher legs.

That kind of blocky/black void stuff I’ve never been a fan of. And the last time I’ve seen that be a major thing is in the “kiddy” Nintendo games. And while I do enjoy those, I’m glad that isn’t common in GW2.

That said, maybe one day I’ll pick up this outfit if some of these issues are fixed… but to be honest, I don’t think that ANet wants to keep fixing this outfit over and over and over. Eventually they are just going to leave it as is and I don’t think I want to buy it in the state that it will be left in.

I don’t think Eir is dead….. most likely Braham has found her bow among the wreckage and assumes the worse. Thats my guess and i feel this way cause i dont think they would start killing off all of Destinys Edge….

I actually think that quite a FEW of Destiny’s Edge will bite the dust. Just so they can replace them with the characters from Living World Season 2 cast. I got that feeling reading up on the Season 2 LS on the Wiki.

With Destiny’s Edge not being in the limelight anymore and these new characters rising up, I could totally see the old Destiny’s Edge going away and a new one being formed.

4/9 revealed, no repetition of elite weap

So just to recap…

Mesmer – Shield
Guardian – Longbow
Necro – Greatsword
Elementalist – Warhorn
Ranger – Staff
Engineer – Hammer
Thief – Staff
Revenant – Shield

I know its 4/9 confirmed but we can make the very educated assumption that its actually 8/9.

Someone also mentioned something about the warrior getting a torch and that it cosmetically looked very warrior-ish?

This is very interesting. I’d love Staff for Thief. Though I was told to expect Rifle but I have no problem with Staff. I also bet that a Staff will give thieves Monk-like skills and I wouldn’t be too surprised.

Engineer getting Hammer sucks though. Eeew.

You never saw the Golems before because they were too slow and not worth the supply costs. I enjoyed piloting them and using them in a sense where they could change the tide of battle.

Of course, this could never be a permanent thing… but I had a ton of fun during this week. Maybe in the future, Golems will be at least half the speed they were this week.

So I maybe crazy, but the event was fun for me. But I am not blind, I might be that 1 out of 1000 guy.

It’s sad but understandable that racial elite skills are underpowered. But they should be at least viable. A quick pass to reduce some of the down time (lasting active time) on some wouldn’t hurt. It’s not like asking for a damage increase on them or making them super viable.

Regardless, I play this game for fun. So I use the skills I like. And nothing beats hoping into an Asura Power Suit as my Asuran Engineer. And my main Human Ranger uses the Mistfire Wolves because I don’t like any of the other skills.

That said, I’d like it if I got an F5 skill for the Racial Elite skills as an Engineer. Kind of odd just staring at that blank spot. For a while I just thought I’d unlock the skill for there eventually. Then I found out there isn’t one.

Well that sucks. :/

My main is a Ranger and I love having a Pet besides me. If the Ranger class didn’t have the Pet system, I wouldn’t play it anymore. That said, it sucks if Pets aren’t working properly though and that’s why no one is playing the class. People say the best fix is to remove pets altogether and that infuriates me. But if it won’t be fixed normally, someone is going to lose out altogether.

I feel bad for necromancers as well as my alt necro who is a minion master. But I’m not hurt by it too much as the minions for necromancers aren’t what I was expecting. Tyrian Necromancers aren’t the standard bunch and that is fine, just not what I was looking for.

Tribal armor set

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sonickeyblade.8415

Sonickeyblade.8415

I have nothing against them bringing back tribal or stalwart through means in which they were originally obtained, rank gated pvp.
HOWEVER, they should also bring back ALL of the other items which are no longer obtainable without huge amounts of gold on the TP. All the halloween skins, molten jetpack, wings of the sunless, shattered holographic dragon wings, Monocle head item, etcetc.

If you guys want to take away prestige for PvPers lets make it fair and remove it for PvEers too. Lets see how many agree to that.

You’d lose that bet. I’d say deal. And I have the Devil Horns. Honestly, I could care less if other people had them. I’d give it to every and anyone who asked if I could. I’m not even pulling your leg. I rather see people have it and customize their character to be unique.

But again, I’m aware that’s a personal thing. Even with that said, I’ve never been that guy to say “nyah, nyah! I got this thing and you don’t!”

The exact same thing happened in another MMO I played: DC Universe Online. The original Batman skin was only for Year 1 Collector’s Edition buyers. I have it. But because of legal reasons, Daybreak Games can’t release it for everyone else. I HATE that. It’s not fair. There are people who play that game MUCH more then I do now and have put in 10x the money AND the time into the game, but they can’t have that Legends character and I can. I think it’s total BS. And if it was in my power, I’d give it to them.

To be fair, the situation is a bit different here. Legal issues hold back Daybreak Games. They don’t with ArenaNet.

Why do we have 5 races

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sonickeyblade.8415

Sonickeyblade.8415

In every game with this issue this argument comes up.

And in every game with this issue Humans (or whatever name they use) is the most played and most popular race. Only one other race normally beats Humans and races that are humans in all but name:

Elves. Elves top Humans in the games that they are in. The less “human like” the race, the less it is likely to be played. Add in races with male only genders and you just hit rock bottom.

That is a fact that most gamers should know when not only playing an MMO, but ANY game with character customization. The more “human” the character, the more popular it is. If the human/elf like option has a female option; there will be more females than males. Then comes the alien races with similar human features and then alien races that look the same no matter what the gender. At the bottom will be the male only alien races.

Why that is? I won’t claim to know the answer. But that is just how it is. That’s how it is in WoW and even Elder Scrolls Online… SWToR, TERA and even “non traditional” MMO games like Phantasy Star and Dragonball Xenoverse.

Sonickeyblade.8415

There are people out there who will complain and shout for nerfs and ‘rebalancing’ as soon as they have to put effort into killing a foe. I would welcome challenging content, but I somehow have doubts that this content will stay that way.

This. People always ask for challenging content, but then said content is barely played until everyone can do it. I guess it’s human nature to some extent, but as long as I’m interested in what I am doing, I personally don’t care if its “hard” or not.

But that doesn’t make me demand that all content be “easy” either. That said… I hope you guys get your challenging content and then do it quick before it’s nerfed to heck.

The Cantha Thread [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sonickeyblade.8415

Sonickeyblade.8415

Considering I am new to the franchise, I want to see Elona as well as Cantha.

But I want to see Cantha more as I happen to like both Chinese and Japanese culture. The only reason I could see Anet not wanting to explore Cantha within Guild Wars 2 is because most western cultures distastefully BLEND all of the Asian cultures into one. And if Anet was to do that with GW2, it would offend the Chinese playerbase.

Asians hate that. (The blending of their culture with Japanese culture). And I don’t blame them. You shouldn’t lump in distinct cultures into one. That happens with the Black/African American community. For another comparison, it’s like making an American Cowboy with a British accent and mannerisms. It’s blending two different cultures that aren’t exactly the same. Sure, Americans and most Eurpoeans would just laugh off such a character or even a setting, but that is not the case with Eastern culture.

But back on topic. Most Western games with Asian themes blend together Japanese and Chinese cultures and both sides (more China then Japan) take offense to that. That deters sales and sours the relationship between companies. But that doesn’t mean Western companies have to be afraid to use Eastern cultures in their works. They just have to do it right. Blizzard did it correct with Mists of Pandaria; they just had to remodel some of the Pandaren culture to reflect Chinese culture and not blend it in altogether making a mess.

So yeah. I don’t think that issue is holding back a Cantha expansion as much as people believe. Thus the only other issue is time and resources. I don’t want expansions to be pumped out too often as I want GW2 as a whole to have a long shelf life. So we’ll just have to wait and see. But the demand is there.

I’m not the biggest fan of major changes but the Spirits do need a buff. That is a fact.

So let’s look at an easy fix: Buff their HP, increase their range of effect and let the follow you? And maybe increase the proc rate. Them being static hurts more then anything.

Would that be a simple fix or is more needed?

Sure I am aware that no one is perfect… but I like the quality that is being put into Revenant. And while I know that’s because it’s the brand new class…

I would like to see all of the classes (professions) get similar attention. Probably not as much as their mechanics are older and already set in stone… but maybe in how those mechanics are supposed to play out and what not.

Tribal armor set

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sonickeyblade.8415

Sonickeyblade.8415

This may seem silly but this was a question I had a year ago when I stopped playing. I wanted this set SO badly and it was never released.

But now I came back to the game and was hoping that it was in by now. Maybe via Gem Store or an achievement…

However, it is not. And I am still sad. Is there some way we can show Anet a show of support so that we can finally get this set? I mean since the set is already in the game, avoiding issues with clipping shouldn’t be a thing and with the new Wardrobe system, you don’t even have to attach stats to it.

I literally think it’s something they forgot about. So I would love to remind them. That and it seems that said skin would fit in well with the new expansion that we are getting… so even though I know they are busy with getting that all squared away, now perhaps is the time to remind them that people still want access to this skin.

If it were available through gemstore, that would be unfair to those who actually worked for it in PvP. PvP rewards are so easy to get now, I wouldn’t be angry if the armor never ever made an appearance again.

A lot of people say that, though I honestly can’t agree. (That doesn’t make you wrong though!)

I feel it’s because people want to stand out as having done something not possible anymore; as a sign of prestige. That’s fine and it has to exists…

But skins for characters aren’t the way to do that in my opinion. Titles… Minatures perhaps… or even weapon skins do that the best. Not Armor skins though. I’ve only been back to the game for a week and people claim that one of the Endgame things to do in Guild Wars 2 is “Fashion Wars”. I don’t know how true that is… but I’d say its a sign that all characters having access to all clothing is the way to go.

Though… if the older PvP players really want something else in place of losing out on the currently exclusive armor… I’d say give them a title or a minature for it. But not this set. This set should be available for everyone. Like it was originally intended to be.

That sort of armor ( Tribal (pvp masquerade at the time) apostle, stalwart etc) is the only sort of prestige that PvPers get. I don’t really want them to take that away from them without giving them something too. Like all of the other PvE only skins which aren’t obtainable anymore because it was a drop, rare or not in PvE. Two way street.

I get that. Though “prestige” has never been important to me in any game (and I got some pretty exclusive stuff in other MMOs). But it IS important so some people and I respect that. So if they really wanted to, I’d say just release a different skin of it for everyone else to get. That way, everyone wins.

This is how I feel. But this game is a business. They won’t do it unless they won’t make money off of it. I understand that.

But estimating that the amount of work that would go into this is minimum… they should have no financial reason to not do it. If anything, it’s a matter of time: they have to take someone who is working ON the expansion off of it to make this a reality.

Business-wise… that isn’t feasable right now. But maybe someone who works for Anet loves enough to take some OT hours to pop this into the game. One of those guys/gals who really loves their jobs. XD

3 minutes later, I see THIS thread. Sorry about that necro…

But I would love to get this set back. I’d say just release it as a Gem Wardrobe Skin. I think that the set is so old and I don’t know how many players from back then even still play the game… so putting the set up on the Gem store should net a good return value considering the new players that have come to the game since the introduction of the Wardrobe system and the abolishment of the old PvP gear system.

EDIT:

The devs have stated on the forums Tribal Armour will return. No timeframe or ETA has been stated though.

Really? If this still is true, then maybe my thought of it returning with the new expansion (since we’re going to that jungle area) isn’t too far off at all!

Honestly, I would buy this. And a lot of people would too. Then those who don’t like it wouldn’t buy it.

The end result would be, everyone buys it and wears it. This continues for about 2 to 3 weeks and then when the next big thing comes out, the “fad” as it became will die down and people will move on.

The rage and anger against it would only last for about a month before everything is back to normal. It wouldn’t be long term controversial. It would also make sense. It’s not fanservice just for the sake of it.

So I’d say make it, Anet. Don’t let the naysayers deter you. But if the outfits have to be skimpy, make it for both sides. Again, a month after release when the next big Living Story event or the next Item comes out for sale, the trolling with the bikinis would shrink to the point where it’s a rare occurrence.

Are you happy about today's armor skin?

I like the armor in this game. But all of the good armor (it’s a matter of taste I know) tends to be the Light Armor or the Heavy Armor.

People make jokes about the Light “Underwear” Armor and Heavy “Bikini Plate” Armor, but I don’t mind those at all. And those are the kinds that even sell well. :P But even to that end, there is quite the variety for all armor types as well (again, except Leather Armor to me. You’ll always be dressed with some long robe or jacket it seems.)

But what bugs me the most… is that the armor styles up in the Gem Store are my least favorite. I would have no problem paying for cool styles that are different or even styles from GW1. But the styles available in the Marketplace aren’t worth buying. I’ve had no interest in any of the outfits we’ve been getting since the Feature Patch.

And that’s sad because I haven’t been able to put the new Wardrobe system to use.

Oh wow. I am too having this issue. And I am sorry if this is bumping an old thread. But it’s not a week old. I have changed my password 3 different times lately and I am still getting this same Texas IP [TX , US (64.25.32.69)] alongside my actual allowed Log In IP.

I was recently hacked so I’ve been paying extra attention to my security. If this is just Anet’s local IP, then I can finally relax and get off of these pins and needles.

I would like this very much. I also hope it’s one of those skins that can be used for all 3 armor types.

My main character is a Hunter but I love all of the darn Light Armor gear. Darn it all!
