I dont think we will see mounts either. It isn’t really needed with the port system.
And frankly it is one less thing we need to see in the crowded cities that already take 30 minutes to load.

Adine, you must be rich. Some of us are not. A 4 silver port takes a couple events to make up. And since I am usually shredding rares, that leaves blues and greens to make up any profit. Those are small profits. Worse if I am there for an event that does not yield loot.

I am really getting tired of bleeding money left and right when I run to an event only to hit an overflow. These bus rides arn’t cheap and telling me its full AFTER I port is pretty stupid.

I do not belive it is guesting that is the issue BECAUSE of the new one chest lock out.

You see, back when there wasn’t a lock out and people were bouncing 3 servers at a time farming chest, we had no guesting problem. Now everyone is getting kicked to guesting. My guess is as a short term measure to help with performance issues, anet dropped the number of people allowed ikittenone by a large amount.

I believe the patcher crc checks the data before considering a redownload. Either your hard drive is failing and losing data chunks (which would prolly cause your computer to crash in minutes) or you have a virus changing your files data. Are you in XP or one of the newer OS?

Playerbase declining?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sousui.1635

Sousui.1635

The biggest problem is not lack of players.. but lack of information on events. There is high traffic in the noob areas so event are often enjoyed by both high and low levels, but higher level areas are much thinner and what is worse is you tend not to know about events until you are on top of it. I think the map needs to show any active or startable events in a radius that is %50 of the map.

Another thing to is.. there is no rush. We arn’t paying any monthly fees so I don’t feel bad getting done later what I could get done now.

The biggest social issue I see is the lack of any good method of guild recruitment (no server boards, no in game BBS), and no looking for group system. Also the cities should all be on the same map chat channel.

To everyone who didn’t bother reading the text, the mandatory password change is pretty much a one time only thing. Their password scheme has not changed since the begging of guildwars 1 and the password requirements then were very loose.. didn’t even require a number. This is simply forcing a new password to be created under the new guidelines (which are not that much stricter).

zax, yea cause windows 8 has no bugs. amirite?

Looking at the hardware I don’t see any problems. Considering the nature of the problem and that I know the hardware works fine in windows 7, I would point at windows 8 as the culprit. Normally I might entertain the idea of the card overheating, but usually that does not wait till you zone to crash..and when it crashes it takes out the whole computer (hard lock, reboot).

There need to be more dynamic events.

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: Sousui.1635

Sousui.1635

There are many events that are just not seen. IMO the distance to see events on the main map is to small. Also when events start they need an announce and prepare time (In cases of escorts atleast).

Also NPCs at towns should be able to tell you which event starter NPCs are up and ready to start.

People leaving DE still get exp?

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: Sousui.1635

Sousui.1635

hehe, there was an escort event that was kind of unfailable.. but was very hard to do solo. I found the guy dead on the road so I cleared a few mobs.. reserected him, and attempted to finish the event. Unfortunately after a couple of waves and zero help, I died. So I was like F this and left him there. About 30 minutes later someone completed his event and I got a gold medal for it.

You do need to do an amount of killing to help the event to get a gold.. killing a few and running is just gonna net a bronze. I rarely see silvers though, so it is pretty obviouse when you are there long enough.

That said, the game HATES support roles. I was kinda low level so the first time I did the shatterer event I concentrated on buffs, heals, and removing conditions (guardian). I still got the chest but the game gave me a bronze for my efforts. ;p

Sooo screw saving your friends and do that dps.

Lagging behind personal quest

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sousui.1635

Sousui.1635

Don’t mis-understand. Hearts, and events ARE the quests of guild wars. Your personal quest line is the only old fasion one in the game. You are expected to go around and complete events and hearts in between them. Also just because you are running into high level hearts in one area doesn’t mean there aren’t more in another area of the zone you are in. the 10-20 zones usually spread out to max level as it reaches the 2 or more zone connection points to higher level zones.

GW2 and Quad-sli problems.

Sousui.1635

Nash, it is true that motherboard requirements can be different, because 4 cards require 4 motherboard link ups while 2×2 requires that the mobo only need linkups for 2 cards in sli form. But when the driver has loaded and is looking at your hardware, and the GPU devices want to talk to eachother, it is done in the same way regardless. This is actually the correct way to do GPUs because, and they already do this, it makes it very simple to create video cards with 2,4,6, 8 or more GPUs. all ready to talk to eachother.

Also I do think the 2×2 config would be better because latency and connection issues between the gpu’s on one card are probably much better due to them being on the same board.

SLIs problem isn’t really in the hardware configurations you can achieve, but getting your games to to react nicely to a multi gpu setup. Maybe if 2xgpu cards become more common they will get more testing when games are being released, right now it is still in the realm of the elite power user.

Then if we lose our phone or the app some how, we can use some of these codes to un-tie the authenticator from the account.

Computer shuts down on entry into GW2

Sousui.1635

drive..bitmap errors? lol..

Well the thing is you didn’t tell us what exactly happened. Was it a bluescreen/reboot? or did you system shut off? I have fixed a few PCs where the HD was going bad so after 1-20 minutes of use (I actually managed to pull 12 gigs of pictures and home movies off in between a few boots, it was very random) it would bluescreen because some windows system data got corrupted when loaded. Bad memory is usually trickier, I usually had to run 3d mark’s for 20-30 minutes to force a crash to test sticks.

Powerdowns however are something that can’t even be triggered by the OS without a user prompt, so if your computer literally shut down, lights out, either your PSU cut the power or the mother board did. If it was this then don’t count your little check disk as being an actual fix, I think your problem still exist and at the moment infrequently pops up.

PC Shutdown but only in instances

Sousui.1635

No bugs can ever shut down a system. They can lock them up.. they can slow them down, they can crash them. But to send the code to the bios to power down? never. You could request windows to do a reboot.. but that still requires a prompt.

Systems powering down is either the PSU not delivering enough power, or some older systems and I think AMD CPUs still power down everything when criticle temps have been reached. INTEL processors for a long time now will not shut down, but reduce speeds and voltages to cool themselves down.

Sousui.1635

Sleep, please keep in mind that we are trying to fix your mis understandings. Culling creates a lot of load, yes, actually it is the lack of culling you are referring to. The act of culling is when the gpu works out parts of the scene it does not need to render. If the engine was not culling as much as it should and rendering a lot of terrain it didn’t need to then this would create a load you normaly wouldn’t see in games.

That said, my statement still stands. The BEST GW2 can ask of your video card is %100 of its processing power, and if your cpu is not a bottleneck then your gpu will GIVE %100 of its processing power to render the ever loving god out of guild wars. But this is all within the design constraints of the video card, the video card should be designed to safely and reliably give %100 of itself to a game. Guild wars CANNOT under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ask your card to exert more then %100 and damage itself. YOU possibly could through the driver using overclocking, but this is a user controlled feature and the game has no access to overclocking.

Also there are many people running the same cpu, and the same gpu, with the same OS and have no problems at all. What logic are you going to apply to that? Something like this could actually be traced all the way back to the PSU. Not having enough peak amps can cause the card to fail when it begins to pull %100 load.

IF your computer is literally powering down (no blue screen, just shuts off with no error) then your PSU is damaged. If your computer is blue screening Then this could most likely be a memory stick that went bad, but it could also be your hard drive that went bad too.

Overheating video cards are never a problem with a game, it is a problem with the video card. A video card can only give %100… and if that %100 overheats then it is the cards problem.

Havn’t seen a thread with questions on this thing so I’m posting this. I have set up the google authenticator with GW2 and it was very painless. What I am unsure of is my options for if for some reason I lose access to my authenticator. Blizzard allows you to write down and alternatively change the serial number of the authenticator so if you need to reinstall, it can generate the same numbers.

I see no such serial option on the google authenticator and I actually am unable to see how it is tied with guild wars through my google account settings. I am currently looking at what my options are should I for some reason lose the program on my phone.

Both of those are way to low for this game, and as you suspected the GMA cannot be upgraded. I don’t think any integrated video solution (like the sandy bridge and ATI solutions that put part of the graphics process on the cpu) will be any good, you need a laptop with a gaming grade pci-e card solution for GW2.

The Q6600 is just fine, its what I use and the game is smooth. The 8600gt however is wholly inadequate and should be replaced. The 2 gigs of ram is also going to cause you problems, the game will constantly hit your hard drive to load data and that is lost frames.

Pykus, actually open cases have NO airflow. If you have a door open (or a stupid case that has air holes all over its door) the fans are unable to create a path of air from the front to the rear of the case.

All of this is aside from the fact that nothing can MAKE a device overheat. 2 things cause a piece of hardware to overheat. The cooling solution attached is inadiquit (heatsink/fan assembly) or the area itself is not getting replenished with cool air fast enough and getting hot air removed. The good thing is hot air rises so having an intake fan blow air above and below the card is usually good enough.. but performance cards may require a dedicated fan blowing under it, as well as a good path for hot air removal. IMO if you have a performance card, it should have a full cowl and expel all air out the back slot.

Yea when ever software consistently brings down the whole computer, it isn’t the software that is doing it. Guild wars 2 is causing all your components to work at peak power usage, and when a power supply can’t keep up then the motherboard will shut off all power when it senses that the voltages are falling way out of their range due to too much strain on the PSU.
