The zodiac armor, pretty kitten good job considering the last few armor releases, so I was thoroughly relieved at that much. The rest of the patch…same as the last few patches, 4 hours later, completely bored, and back to titanfall or some other game again. Yet again, and another true disappointment. Don’t understand in the slightest why anet refuses to hire good writers.
The last patch was the nail in the coffin for me, I uninstalled the game and moved onto another MMO. I stopped back just to check to see about the next LS update and it once again reinforced my decision. There is absolutely no hope for this game, incorporating the PvE living story into WvW just shows you the direction they want for this game, its not going to be a PvE oriented game at all the focus is clearly on PvP play, that explains the reasons behind the balancing, the armor, the skins, and the limited choice in items. It’s all starting to make sense now why PvE in this game has been so severely neglected from the start. I will say this though, I am disappointing because for the first few months I played the game, I did truely enjoy it.
I would assume that this will never see the light of day at all, they can barely work up the stuff to produce a competent living story update let alone find the people required to patch the game for mantle. This would be something I would be expecting to see released in an expansion along with alot of other additions to the game but we all know that an expansion in not in the current foreseeable future for GW2.
It does work,instances are boring
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
“high end pc”
I run the game on a 400 € machine and with a very bad inet connection. Still I have never had any drastic fps (constantly below 24-30fps) or lag issues (position resets, disconnects etc).Everything else you’ve said may be true but this particular point is BS.
It’s not BS, GW2 is not optimized for use with multi core PC’s, especially AMD processors. I have a brand new system just built, FX-8320 oc’ed to 4.4ghz, and a 7870ghz edition graphics card with 8 gigs of crucial ballistix elite ram. Any other game on maximum resolution with supersampling and AA enabled, over 60fps, this game in an open world raid…8..maybe 10fps at best, on 50/15 internet. The game is very poorly optimized for any PC not running an intel processor, and the reason being is intels single threaded performance is 20-30% better then any AMD on the market right now, but that should not be a reason why a user cannot play this game, its laziness on the part of the devs to actually program the game for better usage of multi core processors and optimization for use with AMD processor technology.
They should remove the timers in open world boss events. If the fight willl go for 10 min or 10h it will all depend on how good the people are.
I am against all sorts of instanced content in a MMO. They divide the community in little groups.
The problem with non instanced content that blizzard figured out years ago is that open raid world bosses not only make for a negative experience for hardcore players, but limit people from ever experiencing the content at all, as shown by people who are constantly being pushed into overflow and forced to fail. Anet’s scaling system for zones, while genius in some respects, completely fails when you put a world boss designed for lvl 80s only in a lvl 60 zone. It is a futile effort on the half of well coordinated players and guilds when they are forced to play the event with players who are no higher experience or skill/gear wise then the zone itself.
The even bigger problem with the whole world boss system is the fact that they DO NOT SCALE. It’s probably one of the biggest intentional oversights of this game, that again, will not be fixed on behalf of anet.
It’s a lot more then just implementation. I don’t think whoever runs the show over at anet for gw2 development see’s the game the way the majority of the players do. They see it as this massive community that works together on a constant basis to do these living story updates, but its so far from the truth its not even funny. There is such a lack of things to do in this game its horrendous, I would say for most people playing the game, they login to socialize with their guild members, not because there any anything new or exciting to do, or because there is any specific goal they are trying to achieve. It is the same thing over and over again, dungeons, fractals, guild events…occasionally and world boss. Grind grind grind for crafting materials which prices are through the roof.
The reason why this game will continue to lose players to other MMOs and fail to bring in new players is because of the lack of content and the lack of reward associated with basically anything in the game. The difference between crafting for cool stuff, and finding it in a chest after completing a very hard boss, is the sense of reward while having fun vs reward for doing work. Crafting is just that, its work. Just like IRL you go out and you do your grind at your job for cash money, you do that with crafting, where as when you get a drop in the game as a reward, its a much different experience. But again this is essentially the core issue that refuses to be addressed by anet, RNG doesn’t work in this game because there isnt enough content (items) to make it work. The game was designed around crafting and skinning with the gem store, which is a horrendous premise for a game for longevity.
Yea I was disappointed too. The weapon and armor designer of the game are terrible, REALLY TERRIBLE. They are unable to create cool weapons or armor sets, just once every 10 pieces is a “ok” one and 1 of 100 is a WOW one.
They should fire them all and ask random gamers about weapons >_> It’s terrible to see all those “reskins” wich are probably made within an afternoon …
Woah watch it there buddy, you start talking about the lack of creativity on the art team, their liable to come in here and give you an infraction over it. lol
This patch is terrible, and it has brought to a head the past few LS updates and the problems associated not only with anet development but the game in general. But i can tell you right now OP, there’s no sense in complaining about it because alot of people are going to vehemently defend it.
I’ve moved on from it, i suggest you do to. There is so many things we WANT to see from this game because the game itself has soooo much potential that is just being wasted on this scarlet stuff. But its been made painfully clear that there is no clear direction for this game, i prefer to move to a game where I actually get some enjoyment.
The Jory and Kasmeer encounter was awesome though…
Oh its hilarious, but when you consider the fact that it takes hours away from potential development time on things that actually matter, its sad, and annoying.
picture ascended armor in all its infinite glory, with a green glow around it, and a different name.
I would like to cite the attachment, where you will find my character snoring while listening to the “lore” on the back story of scarlet. It took me most of the day to figure out where the actual lore was in lions arch and its not really a mission, you run around listening to people rant the whole time on what appears to be absolute non sense. For example, here is me listening to marjory and kasmeer rant about her fathers gambling problems and how he was thrown in jail.
Also, what is with the weird sexual tension between these two? “You can stay at my place tonight baby”…“oh but if i do ill never want to leave”…..“dont worry, i wont let you”. I dont understand it, are we going to have a patch on the back story of these two as well?
Completely disappointed.
A solo story instance is gated behind the group Marionette encounter. The 3 Wurms are bugged, laggy, overly complicated and require far too much coordination. And if you don’t like world boss encounters, there is absolutely nothing for you to do in this release.
EDIT: Oh…and the story. I still haven’t a clue as to what is going on in this LS. This newest patch added nothing to explain nor progress the nearly incoherent storyline.
Thats probably the worst part of it all, its supposed to explain to you the origins of something, it didnt even do that. In fact NOTHING has been revealed so far as to what the hell this LS is about so far.
I like the new update, was in both fights and failed both. The new content is actually hard, the Wurm is a new Tequatl (that fight is really cool) and above all a lot of new dialogs are added.
The bosses are fun to do, both featuring an unique element to them. The marionettethingie is harder then I expected and the first time I tried the worm we failed to even scratch it
No the bosses are impossible. Has any server beaten them yet? Or better question, has any server come close to getting ONE of those wurms to 50%? The problem is, none of this stuff is tested on a large scale prior to release, and an even bigger problem is its just a hodge podge of crap thrown together in one boss event that they call “dynamic”. You cant throw all these different things to do in a boss fight, along with spamming 30 second stuns and knock downs, and then only give you a 10 second window to damage the boss with a ridiculous amount of health in a 15 minute window for a mission that requires 3 separate command groups on different areas of the map.
The worm only spawned twice on RoF, first time we completely failed but got an idea on how to handle it, second time it was bugged (that happens, nothing to do about it besides patching it, can’t blame Anet for not delivering flawless code), but I find it really cool to see the servers struggling to tame this beast and think that somewhere in the next days it will be killed.
For me content that is instant farmable is no fun, let the servers get the hang of this beast and eventually we’ll figure out how to be effective in killing it. Remember, its a boss on the same scale as Tequatl and is designed to not be killed easily.
I can certainly appreciate the complexity in a boss fight, especially in a game like this. In fact i have been pushing for more complex boss fights that require higher manned dungeons and raids for quite some time. The problem lies with the fact that it is plainly obvious to just about everyone that none of this was well thought out from a gameplay perspective, or tested for that matter.
You create a world scale boss fight that requires the entire zone to cooperate, yet the zone is too small and it constantly keeps pushing players into overflow, you get a mix up of pros and noobs all trying to go their separate ways, some commanding via TS, some not even listening. Then you have a boss fight that not only requires the coordination of 3 of these groups in the zone, but you only give it 15 minutes to happen on 2 hour windows, and then make the boss fight so ridiculously hard (hard, not complex at all) that it’s virtually impossible to complete for even the most well coordinated servers. On top of ALLLLL OF THAT, the rewards once again….BLOW.
This is, literally, classic living story at its finest. No one really is even speaking on the fact that zerg’s of this scale are absolutely terrible for most people with the way this game handles CPU usage. You listen to the chats, TS or map chat and all you here is misery over the lag, the disconnects, the FPS, etc etc etc. The experience might be good for you but for 80% of the rest of the population, this kitten is not cutting it.

Yeh i can see LS season 2 already….. “The return of scarlet.”
(…)
This patch killed the buzz for me, I dont even have the will power to login again after playing some of the patch, no scratch that, sitting in overflow. Then to get into the actual map, and then sitting another 2 hours waiting for the event.
Total disappointment with game model.
It’s just another LS update that highlights the disconnect between the dev’s and what is actually happening in game. Chris whitelines focus on WvW and PvP is so deep that things like living story and PvE play are left in the complete dust. I find it hard to believe that they have any more then a single team out of the supposed 350 employees over there at anet working on PvE material. They just cannot be THAT BAD at this.
I mean people on this forum have literally spent months giving credible and tangible fixes and ideas for this game that would blow other competing MMO’s out of the water with very little work given the available resources, and yet….here we are.
Horrific disappointment, but didn’t we all know that was exactly what was going to be the case when we heard there would be 4 more god kitten releases with the name scarlet in it? What highlighted it for me was once again the armor as a reward, the “wurmslayer” gear, which is just the already terrible ascended pieces reskinned to have a green glow. It is absolutely hilarious and comical that after all the crap that went down with the reskinned T3 armor, and all the hate that was received over the way ascended looked, that they did this YET AGAIN.

Claims to be a living world — -- — Doesn’t have dynamic weathering.
Doesnt have dynamic weathering, doesnt have a dynamic day/night cycle according to which clock your running, and doesnt have environmental buffs/debuffs based on weather/terrain. Go figure.
I personally must say I’m disappointed by this start…
Boring Bosses…
A Wurm. just somethign what we already have in the Caledon Forets also now too in the Bloodtide Coast ?
Very innovative…….NOTRecycled Watch Knight in silver on Marionette Strongs in XXXXXXL super large ??
Seriously… and tons of recycled robotic enemies again which will be all the same, that we know from all of Scarlets invasions which I also hope will stop soon finally as they simply make no sense anymore to occur, once we finally end the Scarlet Arc.I would have expected something better and when they implement a new World Boss, that it is really something completely new.
Bloodtide Coast is a good place for the patch ,the place has alot of water and could have been used for givign the game more underwater content, like an Underwater World Boss, something cool, like the Kraken for example, which would have been a thousand times better, than just another silly wurm
And instead of lettign us fight again against the same enemies that we already permanently fight against in the invasions, why couldn#t have we seen some kind of collaboration in regard of enemies, that are in those two maps.
The Inquest and the Svanir. Really, Scarlet has already made allieces with thwe Nightmare court, with the Dregde, with the Flame Legion, would be surprised if we would see gettign the Svanir and the Inquest more involved in the Bloodtide Coadt where the Inquest has some kinmd of underwater labs and the Svanir being in Lornars Pass, because those 2 enemies of the pact are so far the only ones, which have collaborated with Scarlet yet in the big style, other races have made alliances with Scarlet in the past already.
Well it’s been said before, and every time it gets deleted and I get an infraction, this is just once again a clear example how there is no creativity left within anet. The fact that every release we see something that has been reused or re-skinned over and over again proves this fact. One could argue for anet saying that because of the release schedule for living story updates this is the reason why we see alot of reused content because there is no time to develop something new on a 2 week basis, but again this is the flaw behind living story updates and the reason why it just doesn’t work.
Oh hey, we’re getting a feature patch sometime after March! Cool!
Unless they change the direction these living story patches have taken in the next update on the 21st, where it’s actually giving pve players something to do, it will be too little too late. They talk like the realize the problem with the living story, and the way patches have been handled, yet every release seemingly gets worse and worse. The tower of nightmares was bad living story patch, and to follow it up, they made an even worse living story update, followed by an even bigger disaster with the skin situation with the wintersday patch. Which also was a seemingly pointless living story update. None of which I even bothered to complete. The question is will this next one change that track record and truely give us something that paves the way for the major update in the summer? Or will it be the same scarlet, different day.
Better then an expansion huh Anet? Pre-ordered my next MMO after seeing that video. lol Same living story, different day. Let’s see if the patch notes on the 21st reveal anything other then another living story update about scarlet.
We had a guild mate of ours get an ascended chest piece from the champion run in queensdale, so yes the armor is dropping with the same frequency of the weapons.
I think whatever it is, we can safely assume that it will….
1) revolve around scarlet
2) require the purchase of gems
3) require more grinding and crafting
4) have a utterly boring and fast paced plot
5) have no real reward at the end
Of course that’s just being realistic. In the back of my mind, i hope that the entire world gets thrown upside down, they incorporate some sense of realism with the living world, add 3000 new items including weapons and armor. Re-skin kitten near everything, including ascended gear, so I dont have to backwards trans-mutate everything I worked so hard for, and make my magic find actually do something towards getting cool drops, like precursors.
460k concurrent users is nothing by comparison to other MMO’s. Warcraft has over 10 million active subscriptions at its last expansion and over 1.5 million concurrent users. Even star wars knights of the old republic managed 350k concurrent users and thats a non mainstream MMO geared towards star wars geeks.
a new MMO hopefully
exactly, the thing thats going to make the biggest difference in LA is going to be the processor, which should be a i7 4770k at minimum for maximum framerates.
I just care about getting smooth frame rates in LA
then up your budget by about another 1000 dollars if your going with a already made desktop
I’ve never heard of anyone getting higher then 35 with the way the game is optimized. Now should they improve the game for multi core processors and AMD hardware, that could improve, but right now the game doesnt even use 2 cores.
Oh so this game still utilizes single core only? It actually explains everything.
Why do you think intel processors perform so much better. lol Single threaded performance on intel (haswell in particular) is roughly 28% better then AMD FX series.
Just wondering, has anyone ever been able to get 50+ FPS in LA with max graphics settings @ 1080p especially in the area around the Mystic Forge? It seems impossible with the current generation of hardware.
Ive never heard of anyone getting higher then 35 with the way the game is optimized. Now should they improve the game for multi core processors and AMD hardware, that could improve, but right now the game doesnt even use 2 cores.
AMD FX-8320 OC’ed to 4.4ghz (6 cores only)

It is all grind, people dont like to call it grind because its different from other MMO’s, but its all work anyway you look at it.
Not sure what you mean by you dont mind getting pvp’ed 11ty billion times. Any server will be fine for you.
Is it fair to say that regarding Ascended Gear we would like to see more ways to earn it and in terms of drop rates, a higher percentage chance of acquiring them through this method?
Chris
I would say that is true pretty much about all items. However I see this strategy being problematic unless you increase the overall amount of items in the game. Supply vs demand basically. Scale it so that ascended weapons/armor only drop from the hardest of pve related events in the game, and exotics drop from lower difficulty events, and just leave the drop rate of precursors the same so that you dont diminish the rarity of legendary’s. PvE in this game has so much potential however has been largely undeveloped.
i love some of these suggestions that make the game virtually unplayable lol
Cool armor = dungeons
Cool weapons = grind lodestonesWant top gear right away? Buy exotics off TP or else fight horrible RNG drops for ages.
Do dailies everyday, eventually get ascended gear, soon the weapons and armor alsoBasically your done with the game, now you just go for aesthics and pointless achievements
Welcome to GW2 PVE
This.
Here is one suggestion for how a quest for a legendary weapon would work. Of course, the tropes for these are fairly common, and I don’t mind copying well-worn tropes if it’s made well. My idea would use great quests. Great quests would look like LW updates in your right-hand tracker and would appear in your AP tracker menu. They would show you where you are along this long quest chain that would lead to a goal (like a legendary or ascended weapon or rare skin). It would update as you go and give you AP for completing legs of the quest. It would also have a timer for how long you had to wait for the next part, if it was time-gated.
1) Greatsword You get a great quest from an NPC in LA about the legendary greatsword. He tells you a story about who created it and how. He tells you that the last the greatsword was seen was before Orr fell. This starts the Great Quest to seek out info in Orr. After a few temple events, an NPC there would tell you that her history research shows that the GS wkittentered when fighting the rise of Zhaitan and fell into the sea. Using her notes, you are able to locate two places in Orr. You must recover the hilt and the blade. Each of those are instances, like personal story.
Next, you must find someone who can reforge the blade. This leads you back to LA, where you show the initial guy the sword pieces and he tells you of the living descendants of the original blacksmith. The great great granddaughter of the blacksmith carries on the family business and she lives up in the Iron Marches. She is impressed you found the blade that he father had told her about. She always thought it a family tall tale. She agrees to attempt to reforge it. She sends you on a quest to find the hottest flame, which would be a special event in the CoF dungeon. Taking the flame and money to her for supplies, she begins work on the GS. She needs a week to experiment and forge. When the week is up, she tells you that she was unable to reforge the blade because she does not have strong enough metals. She tells you of an experimental metal the Dredge are creating that sounds ideal. This leads you to Dredgehaunt Cliffs and another personal story instance. Taking back the experimental metal, she asks for more money and time to complete the weapon. A week later, you have your legendary GS.
See I love this concept, and chris you would do wise to listen to this man because this represents the fundamental flaw not only with the way the end game works for items, but the personal story as well.
Everyone complains about the personal story being “trahearnes personal story” because the personal story should have paved the ground work for this exact item find concept. The last mission in the personal story line should have rewarded the player with trahearnes exotic dreamthistle sword as a reward for all the hard work of kicking dragon kitten . Which also highlights this games aversion to death and all things “adult” related about the way the world should really be. There is nothing really that represents how violent the core philosophy of killing things with weapons really is in the game. It doesn’t have a dark approach to anything, its all ponies and rainbows most of the time. And for a game where its userbase is mostly over the age of 21, where as this is the exact opposite with other MMO’s, it shows.
But back to the item acquisition problem. Again, the theory that crafting needs to be the all mighty solution to acquiring cool gear essentially IS the problem. What would be difficult about implementing a 10 man dungeon in say orr or southsun that required much higher skill levels then the traditional…we will say beginner dungeons, that award your rewards on a token basis, instead having dungeon specific ascended gear only drop in this particular 10 man dungeon, a full set of weapons and armor of ascended class exclusive for this dungeon, that used the magic find and RNG system to dish out rewards on champion bosses in the dungeon. There would be such a large variety in the way the drops were sorted out that you could almost guarantee that players would have to come back for at least 6 months to get the set of gear they want. Sometimes it would drop knight gear, othertimes it would drop zerker, but it would require 10 man raids everytime to try to find that cool gear.
This is the PVE i think everyone expects from this game that just isnt there, and the game has such interesting lore, i think everyone wonders why it is squandered so badly on scarlet. What this game really should have had from day one is a scheduled release of 8 separate dragon based expansion packs, but it doesnt have this, and I cant figure out why from a business standpoint you wouldnt exploit this feature.
1) make it so magic find actually increases the chance of getting a good drop
2) increase the amount of items in the game by a factor of 5000
3) make it so that ascended and legendarys (aside of greatswords) actually live up to their names cosmetically
4) optimize the game so that I dont get 15fps in lions arch on a 1500 dollar gaming PC built from scratch
5) completely redo the entire mission “victory or death” and have destinys edge go down in a blaze of glory along with trahearne the way someone mentioned on this forum.
6) make the living world actually dynamic, moving weather, and a day night cycle that follows the clock
7) make it so guardians can dual wield axes or dual weild maces
I honestly don’t think there is anything wrong with progression in this game, I think the problem rests solely with what many people call “end-game” or basically the game after you achieve the max level. I think it was a fantastic approach to make leveling very fast paced basically like a tutorial of sorts for how to play the game at 80, and then making the core of the features available for level 80 characters, I think this system functions fine.
I think the real problem lies with the fundamental philosophy with item progression. It’s something that will eventually drive the downfall of the game if its not corrected. WoW is a perfect example of how properly implemented item progression works, you have a system that provides a large variety of items (in the order of thousands) which can be obtained through many different aspects of the game (besides just grinding). GW2 doesnt have this, it has crafting as the sole focus of the game, which I think for some is fantastic, because alot of people appreciate that “grind free” system. But it doesn’t offer any sort of “progression” after hitting 80.
What in reality happens after you hit 80 is that everything is available in the game to you with very little work involved, and you turn the game into what is perceivable work, towards a crafting process that is painstaking to level and not very rewarding in the long run. (even from a cosmetic standpoint).
What needs to be done to cure this and appease both sides? Well first as foremost, this game needs more variety, in particular, tiered armor, which will give the core focus of the game actual progression. The variety of items needs to increase, and there needs to be more ways to get items besides JUST CRAFTING. (speaking of weapons and armor specifically) So that the actual things that make the game relevant at 80, such as world bosses, jumping puzzles, dungeons, etc, actually wind up having some sort of purpose (reward) when you complete them.
I think that anet see’s the skinning/cosmetic focus of the item system as a problem solving solution to the lack of a monthly fee, but its not. There are plenty of ways to find balance between rewarding players with good items through actual gameplay, and convincing them to purchase skins as well as other features available on the gem store. And like i have said in the past, this is a creativity problem on the part of the dev team, because I have heard no less then 2 dozen fantastic ideas to implement in this game that would make it AMAZING and I would never want to go to another MMO ever again, but they are always overlooked for things like wvw and pvp or cheap knock off skins in the gem store.
Not to mention the fact that I think people would actually like to see their magic find ability’s be used for something.
$30 to activate a feature that should be standard… yeah… no.
lol this, not to mention i have no plans to spend 30 dollars on a game that’s future looks bleak at best
i can get 80-90 fps pretty much anywhere in the game,
but i keep my fps forced to 30 so my fan doesnt annoy me.
I never see it below that, and i am also ATI burdened.
what are your settings like and what CPU you using? I imagine a high end intel if your getting 80-90fps in LA
Sitting around 20 FPS with everything maxed. It’s normally around 50, but LA is never queued like it has been, so it could just be the number of people.
Game seems to become very CPU heavy the more players there are. I know that the Intel i5/i7 users dont seem to have nearly as many problems because their CPU’s have stronger single threaded performance. Wish the game would make better use of multicore technology.
You’ve got double my specs across the board and I’m still getting a decent 15 at not so bad graphic settings. It could be a problem with your drivers, or it could be that GW2 hates everything about ATI video cards.
I’ve re-installed drivers, and even tried beta drivers at least 3 times, to no help whatsoever. Just seems to be the way GW2 behaves with anything AMD. Very disappointing to say the least.
I don’t think anyone ever really said GW2 is a terrible game, the point that alot of people keep making is that there is alot of squandered potential here with this game. The game has the ability to accommodate many different play styles and have much much more depth to the world then what is currently available. Alot of the original team that designed the game isnt around anymore from my understanding, and as i have said in the past, the new team doesnt show the creativity that the original game developers showed.
Brand new computer I just built 3 months ago…
AMD FX-8320 OC’ed to 4.4ghz (watercooled)
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Crucial Ballistix Elite 8GB DDR3-1600
MSI Radeon HD 7870 Ghz Edition
CORSAIR CX500M 500W
Windows7 x64 patched for multicore AMD
Averaging about 12-15 fps in lions arch now after the patch, down from between 25-30fps which was just bearable before. Is there any hope at all for this game to be optimized for multi core CPU’s? Folks on OCN tell me guild wars 2 is a worst case scenario for my CPU, as the game is heavily CPU dependent, and only optimized for dual cores at best.
I’m a little curious about what you guys actually do to keep continual interest in the game once you’ve reached level 80 with the character type you prefer to play. I’ve been playing for a few months now and I have to say that initial aw-inspiring feel of what was to be explored after hitting 80 wore off extremely fast, especially being a member of an active guild.
I see a lot of arguments about what the end game should be, and what the future of the game should be, and a lot of complaints about the game being too grindy, or not grindy enough, but I gotta say, there really is not all that much to this game that feels “finished”. The reason I bought the game was because I enjoyed playing GW1 PvE and enjoyed the lore, the lore in this game is almost non existent. Not to mention the content is almost non existent. The personal storyline left so much to be desired, and the few months ive been around for living story, has kept me nothing but confused as to what exactly is the central focus of the lore.
I’ve also noticed a disturbing trend that will probably wind up driving me towards another game in 2014. While I can appreciate the fact that most gear in the exotic level is insanely accessible with very little effort, anything above this requires annoying adventures in crafting and grind for materials, and while the games central focus is to be neutral stat wise with its primary focus on skinning, there is no real variety compared to other games I have played in terms of item variety, which seems to be the reason why every-time I put effort into a dungeon, or a world boss, or something else that supposedly yields great achievement rewards…I wind up getting absolutely nothing for it but junk to salvage or sell.
I’ve also noticed that arena net no longer seems to really care about improving the PvE in the game in the short term, their primary focus seems to be WvW and PvP, which is not something i bought the game for. I’ve participated in several conversations with regards to the direction of the game, and how awful alot of the recent patches have been with respect to not only gem store items, artwork, and storylines but the lack of depth to the game. I thought it was comical when I looked on the ncsoft website today for job openings and saw how many positions for the very things we have been complaining about are now open for new candidates, everything from character artists to VFX artists and economic systems designers. lol
I’m curious as to why everyone is so adamantly against having grinding for gear and more difficult dungeons or bosses that require more then 5 people to complete, or for that matter, more depth to the game, be it content(items), story, or just improvements to the way the world functions. Especially when everything in the game is just so kitten doable, ive pretty much explored all of the features of being lvl 80.
Couple of questions:
1) Will we ever be able to explore South Eastern Portions of Orr
2) Will we ever see some portions of Orr “return to normal” after the “defeat of zhaitan”
A) If so, will it be an update new and old players are forced to see, or will it be like GW1 Ascalon, to where once you beat a certain quest/mission you are transported to the new version and you can not go back (exception added for gw2, unless you’re in a party with a person who has not finished the Zhaitan Story )3) Why not add the other God Temples as events?( Dhuum, and Abaddon )
That is essentially the biggest problem with GW2 “living world”. The world isnt actually alive. It merely behaves as if it is a game that gets patched alot. None of the dynamic with the personal storyline ever changes the surrounding environment or is the environment in the game ever actually alive. There is no randomness to weather and there are no seasons, and no day/night cycle that actually follow the server or local clocks. The concept of living world really has no depth to it in this game, and im hoping thats something they re-evaluate, not just the fact that the plots of the last living story updates have been terrible.
It’s getting close, at the rate the game is losing players I dont doubt that server merges will happen within Q1 2014 unless major changes are made.
The video made me smile, and it made the people in the cab smile.. isn’t that all that counts
It is funny, as a video, but again everyone is forgetting this is a marketing campaign, it expands a lot bigger then just the video. I would actually like to see the outtakes of that video to see how many people got in that cab and either got right out, or had no idea what she was talking about and why, and told her to just drive the kitten cab. lol
