Every server has recruitment threads. ‘Bandwaggoning’ will never stop because it is in people’s nature to get bored/want change. Let us have our recruitment thread and stop being so bitter, it only reflects poorly on yourselfs.

That last sentence is the purpose of this thread, the show that we are lacking in the EU Timezone. No matter how well-developed our current players are, we lose things in the EU time slot simply because we don’t have the people to do put up any sort of resistance.

I’m not sure how closely you’ve follow Kaineng’s matchup but we are usually able to fight evenly during the NA Timeslot and do even better during the Oceanic—we just want the ability to offer the same competition during the EU slot.

Are there many servers where this isn’t the case though? which servers can say “oh we’re all good for all the timezones, no more players please”?

No, almost every server wants more players in every timezone. And the only way they get them is by poaching them from another server… that’s what creates bad blood and an overall poor reception to recruiting threads… you’re not recruiting from your own pve-base or from random new players, the recruitment is specifically targeting WvW players on other servers.

Seeing a Kaineng recruitment thread feels a bit like bumping into the guy that stole your life savings only to have him ask you for spare change.

I don’t really think you can blame the server’s for ‘poaching’. If a guild leaves a server its because they thought it would be better for them, or they were not happy where they currently were. Everyone needs a change in setting once every so often, its hardly something that only happens in GW2 WvW.

Every server would indeed like more guilds, but we really just want something to tide us over during EU. Doesn’t have to win us anything or increase our points, just hold a bit of what we have so that the matchup stays interesting. Having to spend the first 2 hours every night seiging our own keep from spawn to get out onto the map isn’t ideal, especially for guilds that like the open field battles.

I realise how this all looks to servers that lost people to Kaineng, but I don’t really think you can blame anyone for what happened. Everyone made the choice they wanted to make, and if it wasn’t Kaineng it would have been another server. Also the T8 Kaineng old boys certainly weren’t actively recruiting people!

I have a question for the lower WvW participation servers. Do you regard all transfer people/guilds with such scorn? I simply do not understand the vitriol here?

The vitriol is two fold…

-Those servers already had population issue and ppl jumping ship made it a whole lot worse. ie: ppl don’t like being betrayed/abandoned.

-The Kaineng bandwagon ruined several matches for over a month. They made the quality of the game and the enjoyment of every other player a second priority to “doing what’s best for themselves”. ie: ppl don’t like selfish opportunists.

Someone write this down, AR and NSP (and I’m willing to bet BP) completely agree on this. AR has had big guilds leave, NSP lost tons of players, not sure about BP but server transfers rob mid and lower tiers of their cores and ruin the match ups for a large segment of the population. Kaineng and the band wagoners who transferred there have messed up enough matchups, please try and work with what you have and develop your players and strategy before you go running for help because you suddenly aren’t steamrolling underpopulated low-tier servers.

As someone who has been only ever been on Kaineng I can tell you that’s exactly what everyone is doing, trying to improve our militia and working with what we have to get better. However it would be incredibly stupid of us not to make a recruitment post when there are 6-8 big guilds that could potentially make Kain a well rounded 24/7 server up for grabs.

Plus our server rank is probably a bit inflated at the moment, we really don’t have that many guilds, but the ones we do have put in good 8 hour shifts at the moment, so it would be nice to have some relief from that.

Just one or two EU guilds and Kain would be perfect. Not too big that we ever have queues past reset, yet still big enough that we can roll in T1/T2.

Kaineng is just an exciting place to be at the moment. New organisational structures are getting implemented and guilds are starting to co-operate better. Most importantly though from what I have seen is that the level of improvement from Kain players has been incredible. We started in T2 getting wiped by HB every time we even saw their tags, and no doubt they are a formidable guild, but everyone raised their game and now it is a much more even fight with genuine tactics and skill deciding the outcome of each battle.

I will be really excited to see how KN vs SoS goes, should be a really interesting matchup.

That’s still assuming they do leave. Going with the current rumormill though, and say they do transfer, SoR makes the most sense to me as the best destination in the NA bracket, with a big maybe for Kaineng. I still say they end up moving back to the EU servers though

Without wanting to sound like I am trying to recruit, Kaineng would be an excellent destination for any EU guild. It has an NA and Oceanic/SEA that is equal to if not stronger than BG, which is why we did so well against them in previous weeks. However we literally have nothing during EU, and HB gets to plaint the whole map in a boring 4-6 hours against little to no resistance. If we had even 1 major EU guild I rekon we could have beaten BG during the first couple of weeks and would we well on our way to T1.

Just from playing tonight however we are seeing the transfers taking effect and running into 4 big guilds where there used to be only 2 is making things tough, especially in gaining back ground after the EU time zone.

I’ll still be really interested in seeing how this plays out. I think this does a lot to solidify Kaineng’s position in T2 which I think is fantastic given the quality of the fights going on. Past reset night we are never queued and entire guilds can hop map as they please. That in itself is reason enough for me to never want to be in T1 ^^

I am upset for only the reason that T2 was one of the most fun matchups I have ever played and it really sucks that the hopping guilds are going to ruin it (though I’m sure this was not their intention).

FoE and Agg were just about managable during reset night, but the addition of 1,000 WvW players has a huge effect on the matchup (look at this weeks ratings compared to last week). Now they are getting 3 more guilds?? 5 in total??!! Well honestly that is a ridiculous amount for an already extremely strong server. Its like a whole T2/3 server just upped and joined BG in terms of the strength that adds.

Gonna be sad to lose them. I certainly learnt a crap tonne from HB and really enjoyed the fights with KnT, RK and the other bread and butter guilds that make the server so competitive.

No doubt BG will be permanent T1 now and to be completely honest I dont think anyone can beat them. Not only will they have incredible coverage, but very talented and well co-ordinated guilds. I hope they dont reach number 1 and then realise they have made a horrible mistake and way overstacked a single server.

I imagine TC felt exactly the same way, since you let them paint your BL while you held Bay. I was impressed with how long you stayed there though. Must have been a solid 3 hours.
The matchup today was a bit lopsided though. HB and Pink but no WM
Wasn’t that much fun from the Kain perspective having to fight the 2 top guilds of the other servers without our best.

The topic was started by a BG asking for a couple of Kain guilds to switch to get BG to T1… I don’t think anyone doubts the loyalty of the BG guilds.
Kain on the other hand is still young and it is hard to tell how much loyalty there really is, although I was pleasantly surprised nobody left during last week as some people seemed to assume would happen.
Hopefully Kain can build a community similar to BG and keep its core guilds here forever.

If the Kaineng crew that has coverage in BGs weak spot would transfer to BG, then BG would be a HB/Thai type guild during NA prime from being JQs equal. Then let SoR and SoS flip a coin on which server to load up to equal coverage and the left over moves down to T2, then you have 6 equal servers, good fights and such

Or the BG crew that has coverage in KNs weak spot could transfer to KN, then KN would be a WM type guild during NA prime from being JQs equal.

Or neither of those things. I’m content to keep fighting for however long the ratings keep us here. I hope that whichever server moves up to T1 does so by having to work extremely hard for it, not by getting even more transfers.

I thought Kain was made from a bunch of transfers, BG still has it’s core group that’s been here the whole time and last I checked, I figured people that jump ship would take jumping ship much easier a second, third time. In your scenario, BG has to transfer 75% to Kain, Kain needs to transfer 25%. I don’t think BG needs a NA prime to keep JQ honest but it couldn’t hurt.

If BG got WM you would be T1 and we would be T2/3
If Kain got HB we would be T1 and you would be T2/3
If TC got WM and HB they would set them on dolyak patrol and still be T2, although with lovely upgraded keeps.

Those 2 guilds are really the only ones that could make a significant difference, and those 2 guilds pretty much define each servers strongest time zone. I mean, BG just got 2 big guilds transfer and it doesn’t seem to have helped that much.
I really hope nothing happens though. This matchup is great, with a great thread. I’m not sure why anyone would want it to end.

hey guys, its been a while since [Agg]ression has been in Tier 2.
It was definately a different atmosphere and we certainly had fun.

We were only fielding about 15 tonight, we will be up to 25-30 in about 4 days, look forward to more fun keep it up TC and KN.

I wish you would have gone to TC. Tier 2 is so fun at the moment, TC and Kain just need a little boost and it would be a fantastically a balanced matchup with the best threads in the forums. I’m definitely happy for BG that they got 2 more great guilds, but I cant deny I’m a little sad that our tier 2 fun will possibly be cut short.

Either way I look forward to meeting you on the battlefield in the next few weeks. Will be interesting to see how much more BG can distance itself score wise from Kain and TC.

Got to hand it to the BG EU guilds, they are one hell of a headache. If we didn’t have WM I probably would have morphed into a magoomba by now and started complaining about coverage, because nothing stops BG during EU prime-time.

Do all the T1 servers have strong EU guilds or is this Blackgate’s particular strength?

Either way this matchup is making me want to get better at the game (i.e. roll a guardian) which is just what I needed to keep me enjoying the game.

I hope Tier 2 is home now.

Haha yeah, well KN hasn’t been helping in that regard either. Late last night when were trying to siege Bay, as soon as the wall would go down and we’d move in to work on inner we’d hear “KN is at Redbriar again”. Followed by .. “sigh okay let’s take it back and build the trebs again”. Then later we had to fight off KN once again who was sieging Briar from the island while we were working on Bay again only to have TC backdoor and take it while we were busy. Next thing you know we had nothing in TCBL haha. It was pretty fun though. Good fights last night for sure.

Haha I must have missed that. For most of when I was on TCBL we were trying to attack BG’s 1 tower over and over again so that they wouldn’t take Bay from you. Of course BG ended up wiping us repeatedly with us acheiving nothing, but you gotta play for the points!!!

Adding to the opinion that HB are scary. They completely painted their BL then started wiping our zergs on others. This must be what it feels like to play against WM!

One moment in particular on TCBL I was running with a 30-40 man zerg (something which would just stomp through any other tier we have met) only to have the outmanned buff appear…

That sent a chill down my spine for sure…

I’d be happy to play this matchup for a few weeks to be honest. Everyone is in with a shot and there are good battles on all borderlands.

Remember that Kaineng has a 3 hour window where the maps are ‘extremely volatile’!!

I said its the EU time zone, and purely because during that time a single efficient EU guild can paint the map.

So much great back and forth on the TCBL, hills keep swapping hands every few hours and some great seige/counter seige on Bay.
TC has a scary big EU force though… Those guys know how to melt walls!!

Ehh… I think we just get carried by WM. Even with all the NA guilds that transfered, the past 2 weeks, we have struggled to take the lead during reset night, and it is only when NA finally goes to bed that WM does the night-cap, giving us the lead.

We have a lot of good oceanic guilds that put in a good amount of hours besides WM. Also our NA guilds really aren’t that bad, past reset night all borderlands normally hold their own pretty well (last week WM was only assigned to EB). If anything its the EU presence we lack. After the oceanics go to bed there is a 4-5 hour window where the maps are extremely volatile due to very small numbers on all sides and so leading up to NA prime time you never know how the maps are going to look.

WM are for sure a huge asset though. The main issue with reset really seems to be lack of cohesion between guilds and pubs, which is to be expected given what a short amount of time Kaineng has had to gell. Most servers manage to assimilate pubs well into their zergs, we don’t and are often noticably 10-15 man short on reset night.

Something to work on for sure. This is already looking like it will be a great week.

Eagerly anticipating BG ruining us on opening night. If last weeks match taught me anything it is that opening night is Kain’s weakest point, and now against servers with good coverage I think we will have to really struggle to catch back up in scores.

My guild and I have killed many WM running along the road who do not respond at all, definitely something strange going on. Either they are so devoted to their leader they do not deviate from his instructions at all (i.e., they’re insane) or they’re botting.

I die like that quite a lot. Point my character in the right direction, hit R, and go get a drink/snack.
Seeing as WM regularly play shift comparable to work days I wouldn’t be surprised if they use the time auto-running to do that kind of thing.

I forgot 2 people were wholly representative of a 500 man guild. Though I guess if they are on EB they aren’t the smartest cookies as we aren’t even assigned there.

Speaking of glass cannon there is a red DB warrior who is repeatedly stomping me within seconds in KBL. That guy is freaking scary. I doubt many people could 2v1 him if he got the jump.

Hey guys, thought I might be brazen and post something that isn’t related to whining about 2v1, bugs on reset night, how disciplined WM are, or how unfair it is that some people play the game when you don’t and complete objectives.

So here was a nice little moment from KBL a couple of hours ago.

Why do we have to fight?… Can’t we just sit and enjoy the scenery together?

From the perspective of Kaining BL, holy kitten this is just what we needed. For weeks now we have been playing without discipline, splitting up our zerg and taking whatever objectives we feel like. Trying to push on two fronts tonight we got absolutely hammered by the clinical movements of DB and Mag and were rightfully sent packing.

I was (sort of) happy to lose our garrison. After weeks of being on the receiving end of breakout events, it is going to be fun to attack for once!

This is a great matchup!
