Got home for work and ran it. Died 2 times for the bomb planting part, but eventually got it. CoF isn’t ridiculously hard, but it’s definitely not a lame 10min run anymore.
+1 Don’t like Anet contradictions
My groups can do the CoF #2 in 10 minutes. I whole heartedly agree with difficulty increase, but I completely hate that diminishing returns on rewards. It’s not what Anet promised its fanbase as his goals to allow players to enjoy the game any way they want. With this you just pulled a Jay Wilson.
You don’t want the dungeons to feel like a grind… So you make the grind longer? Lol. Your changes and goals don’t match, Anet.
Problem is they are punishing players who are drinking the optional grind coolaid.
It’s also unjust to say we’re allowed to play GW2 any way we want, and yet they come and punish us for playing the same dungeon all day. Not that I do that, but it’s all about principles. I don’t care if they make it 10x harder, I love the challenge, but I don’t like to be punished for doing it 10x a day. My faith in Anet turned 180 with this patch. I don’t like companies who contradict themselves. Same reason why I quit buying Blizzard games.
Anet – Don’t show me that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
CoF needed to be fixed, but the systematic dungeon reward nerf and diminishing returns system is unjust. if i want to spend a whole day grinding a dungeon I want the ability to and not be punished for it.
i think it has more to do with all the noob players turning Lv 80 a few days ago.
You say this game is not a grind fest for gear, and yet why do we see tons of dungeon NPCs out in the open teasing its players with exotic gear that require 180-330 dungeon tokens a piece?
A more complicated problem with a too simple solution.
I was finishing CoF path #2 in 10 minutes each run. Anet applied a huge buff to CoF, but at the same time systematically nerfed rewards across all dungeons.
Let me start off by saying I love this game and I believe it is better than all other MMOs already, but there are things that still erk me no matter how much of a Gw2 fanboy I am. I have been completing CoF #2 in 10 minute runs, and I knew something is wrong. Dungeons shouldn’t be completed in 10 minutes, but at the same time I saw that other dungeons were much harder and gathering 1000+ dungeon tokens will be insane. Instead of finding a middle ground, Anet slapped a way too harsh punishment as a fix.
Anet designed this game from the ground up to be fun and no grind. By no grind, it means that you don’t need to grind for gear in order to enjoy the game. That is most definitely true as all the Exotic gear mostly have the same stats. So we get an optional grind. Which is fine too because no one is forcing you to grind for gear in this game to progress.
However, I’m concerned by the difficulty of the dungeons and also the cost of running them with the latest patch. While the solid promise Anet made to its gamers was the alleviation of grind and with the same notion they buffed dungeons and tried to punish players for speed running dungeons (essentially grinding) in dungeons. By doing this to stop grinding, they even created more grinding because they kept the cost of Dungeon specific Exotic armor the same! Now it will take much longer to obtain and thus require more grinding. So they tried to stop grinding by adding more grinding. I’m concerned as to what Anet is trying to do as they are catering to opposing spectrums in their fanbase with casual gamers being the larger portion.
While I agree with most of what you said .. but then you went “I get 1-shotted quite often from enemies, and I’m a tanky-type” … losing all credibility in my book by making such a false statement.
I actually like the challenge this patch provided for CoF, but Anet needs to realize that 60% of their players are casual players to semi hardcore and another 20% are ones who came from Blizzard’s Diablo 3 which screwed them over with broken mechanics and grind fests…. Who will raise arms and abandon your game for the increased grind that you promised that you will never do to them.
