Yea the new Moa#5 along with 2x evades and LoSing.. really not a big deal and a counter to stealthspam thieves as well.
pretty sure Anet already said that Ascended gear will be attainable outside of FotM, and specifically mentioned WvW…….
And to any devs reading this, when it becomes available in WvW please make the price reasonable, preferably via karma, after all there is not meant to be any grinding for max stats.
The problem with that is if you compare the karma path to what is currently available, all PvE players will also choose Karma. It will have to be badges or some large WvW monthly type quest thing.
A lot of professions use the same mechanic that we use with steal not breaking animations. Stop asking for that to be nerfed. It’s a great mechanic that requires a tiny bit of skill. It also allows us to 1shot stomp teleporting thieves when steal is up.
It doesn’t have to be obtained from things you can only get in WvW. Just attained by things you can get from WvW. I got my full set of exotics with exactly the setup I wanted with a combination of Karma, badges and gold. All of it obtained from just playing WvW.
But don’t you think that’s a bit unfair? You say it’s fine as long as you can get it with gold since you earn gold in WvW. The average gold you can earn WvWing is insignificant compared to gold you can get PvEing. If you want to get 6 jewelry/back slots + runes + sigils all with WvW gold, we’re talking about months of gameplay for average player. And karma/badge pieces you will have to be content with those bonuses, even if they’re not optimal for your build.
How many people you know how have enough badges to buy all pieces of Invader armor? Do you think it’s comparable to PvE?
And this is just Exotic armor. Average WvW player will be able to get full Ascended gear in probably 1 year. Just for one character. And the build might get nerfed.
Don’t get me wrong, I know many people will love to grind this so they have advantage in WvW because of gear. Even many on this forum, I’m sure, will have max gear in no time. But average WvWer might feel alienated. Even now, being sub-level80 is really really tough. You have to stick to the zerg like tuna fish.
It really depends on how they make this gear attainable in WvW. I have no idea how they can do it and not make the the people mad who bought gems for gold and farmed FOTM for months on end (these people keep Anet afloat financially so they are catering to them)
You are right, the full invader exotic set takes a long time to get even if you diligently do the jump puzzles every day and they should have way more stat combos. Luckily for me I wanted p/v/t armor and many were attainable via karma so splitting that gear with badges/karma worked for me.
Gold just comes with time. Doing whatever events in WvW you are around, the daily and just loot bags nets me about 1g/day in with maybe 4hrs total playtime. I was able to get 1 exotic from gold every 2-3 days while having a fun in WvW. That’s not too bad even if it is way slower than PvE.
I think WvW development is a bit behind. I expect some updates to rewards, horizontal progression and maybe more skins for badges in the near future. They said recently they have a dedicated WvW team. I haven’t quite given up on them yet. I don’t want to because the core of what they have is really good.
The thing is you can’t get exotics in WvW as it is. Not really anyway. There is only 1 sort of gear you can get which is probably used by about 2% of the player population. If you are running any sort of damage, precision, healer/support or condition build then the gear is utterly useless and pointless.
It doesn’t have to be obtained from things you can only get in WvW. Just attained by things you can get from WvW. I got my full set of exotics with exactly the setup I wanted with a combination of Karma, badges and gold. All of it obtained from just playing WvW.
I just don’t see how they will be able to add this gear to WvW at all though. It’s so hard to get currently, everyone would just choose to get it via WvW unless they only add it after the next tier or it’s something ridiculous like 10,000 badges each.

“I only bought this game to WvW” = you won’t be here long anyway why would you expect Anet to cater to you?
“I got to dungeon grind to get the best gear now” = you don’t have the foresight, nor care, to see them inplementing that gear to be obtained in other ways
“<Insert popular thing to complain about> will break this game” = you’re trying to be a fortune teller and seem like you know what you’re talking about when all you really are doing is copying a comment that’s been made 100 times already
The first one I completely disagree with. This is the best open world PvP setup since Daoc and that type of environment when done right keeps people around for the long haul. They are dong some thing wrong like not letting players know who their enemies are and not having a point system for non vertical progression. They can fix those things easy though.
The next two quotes I just found funny because in the first you are saying they have a lack of foresight and the 2nd you are saying they are trying to be a fortune teller…
I came here for wvwvw too. HOwever, now I must grind for weeks in dungeons to be competitive in wvwvw
If my sources are correct, you come from Aion. Also if my sources are even more correct, I am currently putting my tinfoil hat on to join you in your endeavors.
Welcome back Columba.
XD
Aion was a pretty good game until they seemly out of nowhere upped the level cap and added all new items (history repeating?). I quit a couple months after that when I come to my senses and realized I had been farming for 2 weeks to get mats for a bow I had a 1 in 256 chance of actually crafting. I was happy with all my 40 elite stuff and though I could just PvP in that forever. Oh well..
Tinfoil hats for everyone!
It was good pvp. But when it became a 3 month grind for gear and the 2 months of using the gear, rinse, repeat, that’s when it ended for me.
Yea same. Originally I thought 50 would stay the cap and 50Elite would always be the best gear. I had actually put 50E out of my mind and was very happy with endgame PvP in my 1 tier down set.. until they introduced the treadmill.
The major question is if the new gear Anet has introduced is simply a 1 time addition or is it the start of a treadmill? If it’s 1 time, it doesn’t bother me as much. I’ll pvp in 1 tier down forever and be happy. Maybe even get it someday if they make it attainable via normal WvW activities.
If exotics become 3rd tier someday or I find myself constantly needing to update my gear to stay even 2nd tier I’m gone.
Maybe someday they will add an open world format to sPvP somehow. You join in, choose one of three sides to be on and that’s that. It shows deathspam and tracks PvP stats, uses the PvP locker/gear. There is no server pride (maybe team pride?) but showing names and having deathspam will make up for it. Sounds good to me.

2x agony sigils do stack. I have exactly 75% bleed duration with my setup which includes 2x 10% agony sigils and I get 7 ticks on vital shot with no food.
Well if showing custom dyes made culling worse I wouldn’t want it then. (And if generic models made culling better I would want that…)
If they removed the models that would help a lot. We could just fight nameplates!
WvW is PvE. You didn’t get the memo?
I’m ignoring it as well. It’s there to bring is cash to the gem shop. Anet needs to make money. Requiring 100g in mats for 1 slot is a good way to do it. That’s a lot of gems and people will buy them to get the stuff fast.
I don’t think this side effect of free to play is worth not having a sub. I’d rather pay $15/month for a “pure” game but until one comes out, I’ll probably still be playing this because it is still very fun.
It’s just trying to heal the guy standing right next to me.
A game is broken if you can’t heal the guy standing right beside you.
Once they go into downed state (you know that terrible mechanic that punishes fighting people while outnumbered) everyone gets to be an uber healer of the guy standing right beside you!
@Stiv: The bug report was there last I checked. They just moved it, to the options iirc.
I mean the one where you can report a player and it gave you their account ID. This let you send whispers across servers.
So far I’m still able to have fun. It sucks they got rid of the “report” bug though. I really enjoyed talking to some of the other players I had good fights with. I hope they add this back in some form in the future.
Playing casually I’ve gotten full exotic gear from WvW only. Split my armor between Karma vendors in Orr and Badge vendors in WvW. Everything else was purchased from the market for gold obtained in WvW.
I’ve put ascended gear out of my mind. Most of the people who grind for that stuff suck at PvP anyway and will still get destroyed. I’m going to wait and see if Anet holds true to their promise of “not creating a treadmill”.
Now every bit of gold/karma/badges I have I really have no need for. I’m just buying skins I like. Some off the market, some T3 karma ones. I’m hoping that skinning and all that can get me to the big WvW update they have referenced. All they need is some sort of stat tracking and ranking/point system to keep me hooked.
Anet already committed to making ascended gear available via WvW somehow. The question is how will they do that? Each piece is like a mini legendary to obtain, if we just have to pay badges that seems too easy. Unless they make the current gear available to WvW when they release the next batch of “best” gear for PvE. That reminds me a little too much of something.
The problem with almost everything in WvW is that Anet considers it PvE. If WvW got the PvP rule-set it would be much better.
Two of my own traits cause my death most of the time.
5 pt shadow, pops right in the middle of a C&D animation. Revealed. Dead.
30 point acro (hard to catch), if it pops right when I drop a shadow refuge and someone drops a stun on it or a targeted stun/root hits at the right time. Ported, revealed. Dead.
I think dealing with the 5pt Shadow trait is a slight l2p issue. I need to identify when it’s likely going to happen and just let do it’s job and regen init instead of always trying to C&D. The 30 point acro thing there is no way around. I either ditch the ability or deal with it killing me every so often. It saves me way more than it kills me and lets me use Shadowstep when I really need it so I have a hard time letting it go.
P/V/T Armor and P/V/Condmg everything else.
P/D and D/D

Has anyone seen exactly what it takes to get this gear? The info is coming out and it is so ridiculous. I personally would never attempt it:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13gj0p/ascended_gear_and_infusions_how_to_make_them_and/
Here is the basic back slot:
250 Teir 6 fine crafting material
1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence
50 Globs of Ectoplasm
24 skill points
Then to infuse it:
Base back slot item
Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence
250 Globs of Ectoplasm
Gift of Ascension
I’m sorry but this actually is a blatant cash grab on the side of Anet. 300 globs for a single slot… they are doing this so the “whales” (people who spend hundreds to thousands per month on f2p games) will convert cash to gems to gold to get these items. Simple as that.
Read this article:
http://www.gamesbrief.com/2011/09/whales-true-fans-and-the-ethics-of-free-to-play-games/
Do you think Anet is catering to the Whales or the True Fans? I think this patch and new direction makes it pretty clear. We’ll see how quickly they delete this post.
edit: I’d rather pay a monthly sub for Anet’s for original “missions statement” version of GW2.

Like I said before. Everyone is insisting on going glass cannon. I have 21K HP and over 2500 armor. I don’t even have to stunbreak but I still slot one. I eat Glass Cannon thieves, they are my favorite to kill.
I agree with you stiv, I dont want a tanky Ranger… Id rather have a tanky warrior, I try to counter thieves with traps. It works well sometimes. And its hard to think of an elementalist as a tank build.
People forget this MMO is different from others in that you can build each class as you want them, and that there are no dedicated healers. (I used to play EQ2)
Rangers in my humble opinion have the shortest end of the stick. I was looking forward to some good ranger buffs this last patch but oh well :/
If anyone has a right to complain about balance it’s rangers in general as I feel they are weak. Their burst builds aren’t as bursty as others and their tanky builds aren’t as tanky.
Honest question. How should rangers deal with Thieves? At best, I can entangle and run away, but that sucks.
Honestly I don’t know. I haven’t played a Ranger yet. All I know is that they are the only profession I haven’t run into someone who has a spec that holds it’s own. I can tell the ones that seem much more skilled but they still have no chance vs P/D at least. I feel like they are relegated to zerg vs zerg and keep sieges and stuff.
Traps are ok vs melee thieves, but the stealth spam ones being talked about here, there is no way I don’t think to beat them as a Ranger. Only thing I’ve noticed is if the knock-back shot hits at the right time it can pop me out of SR but I don’t know if that is luck or it can be shot without a target? That’s still not all that usefull 1 on 1 as I don’t think the thief needs to use SR to beat a ranger. Half the problem is your pet and not being able to put him away. They should give you a free F-skill that you hit to make your pet evade the next attack in x seconds.

I often wonder if I’m playing the same game as everyone else.
Thieves aren’t really that big a deal to me. If they spot me at low health they usually kill me. If not, they usually skip over me or fail their opener. If they land their opener I usually can get away or heal or CC them out of the fight. Either way, win or lose, they usually get creamed by someone that noticed them beating on me. If they’re really good they can occasionally get away, but their builds don’t tend to leave a lot of escapes in. Most of the time they’ve blown all their cooldowns on that one gank, and are hoping they can shortbow away.
That’s your basic glass-cannon setup that I see all over the place.
There are other builds that use stealth more, are more resilient, maybe more mobile. They’re harder to fight against, and can basically leave the fight whenever they want to. They also do way less damage. Good for them. They designed the build to be mobile and durable, and sacrificed damage to do it.
Do I, personally, find stealth to be an annoying mechanic? Yes, but that’s because it keeps me from getting easy kills. Do I think it should be nerfed/removed? No! I don’t even play a thief and I see no problems with it. It’s got sufficient limits to make it a royal PITA to use, and other players can usually do stuff to negate how effective it is.
You are playing the same game. It’s just that Anet balances around people like you and not people like the OP. They want their sPvP and tPvP to be successful so professions are balanced around the idea everyone knows how to play and knows how to counter everything else. In tPvP this is pretty much the case. In WvW, not so much, you got people like the OP running around everywhere. They think they are good but they are not. They don’t even bother to educate themselves on the abilities of other classes and choose to QQ on the forums instead.
The only legit complaint that I completely agree with that the PvP rule set should apply to WvW.
Funny thing you have no idea who I am what I play and I don’t think you even read my post. All I read from you is that OP must be a bad player who plays glass cannon . I don’t play glass cannon, I’m not qqing about dying to thief. All I’m saying is that it is not fun to fight someone whom you can’t target for 1/2 of the fight. It’s a design flaw that should be addressed.
It is exactly the design of the profession! That’s why there is only 3 seconds of revealed. Anet stated it’s part of the thief design that they are slippery and just barely slip through your fingers. You aren’t complain about a flaw, you are just complaining. No matter what class you play you have counters you are refusing to use.
This is a good discussion. So lets take a mesmer build Vs a pee a boo rogue. You state that knockdowns and pulling will hold the thief out of stealth or just interupt?
So a mesmers clones, phantasms and shatters are all void against that build.
If correct then the only thing a mesmer could use would be possibly a Moa Morph or into the void pull? Would these stop the thief from vanishing again for any amount of time?Do tell…..
I play a mesmer as well and I use sword/focus instead of sword/pistol just for thieves (well and because it’s just insanely fun in zerg vs zerg too). I also use Moa. The focus#4 pull placed on any edge of Shadow Refuge as soon as it’s placed will yank them out. These thieves will usually use SR when they are in the most dire of situations so this almost always nets a kill. Otherwise, Moa when they are at 75% is a free kill as well (yes it prevents stealth from their own abilities for the entire duration).
Also if you get Sword#3-2 off on them and they vanish, still BF the spot, 8/10 they are dead in front of you in stealth. If you look at the ground and there is a white circle, they shadow-stepped away and are not there.

I guess I look at from the feed back from other Thief players. The most comments are:
1. Wow my thief does not feel as squishes as all the other classes
2. Man I can get out of anything with my TheifOnce they see the Stealth/crit build they all say whoa, that is awesome they cannot even fight back. (respected).
Hehe so ya, it needs attention as the class without the pee a boo ability is just fine and feared as it should be.
“pee a boo” thieves are countered by any bunker build and hard countered vs condition swap necros and good d/d eles. These thieves are hard counters to glass cannon builds. What is the problem here? The fact that the vast majority in WvW run glass cannon? Yep.
I thought thieves where OP, then I rolled one and it was confirmed.
The skill level for a thief is actually quite low. Sure some are good and will eradicate you fast, but others are just bad but will still eradicate you fast.
Sure, claim that ‘heatseaker spam is bad’, but well – it still does way more damage and faster than many other classes can do. And then add in the huge backstabs and steal and well ….I guess it’s easier to close ones eyes and pretend everybody else just “don’t get it”. All things equal in ability and player skill and a thief will burst down most any build and class.
Heck, my L30 even soloed a L80 guardian. Only struggles with other thieves or the occasional mesmer which uses his stealth and clone’s good. And funnily enough – the PvP nerfs seems to indicate the power level, but for ANet WvW is still PvE…. (explains a lot actually)
This thread isn’t even directed at burst thieves. Heartseeker spam? If you really have trouble with this then I’m sorry.
Like I said before. Everyone is insisting on going glass cannon. I have 21K HP and over 2500 armor. I don’t even have to stunbreak but I still slot one. I eat Glass Cannon thieves, they are my favorite to kill.
So everyone has to use build to counter thieves to play WvW. Why must everyone change play because of one class? Sorry WvW is not one on one making stealth stupid OP without any class having a stealth counter. The fact that thieves are the most play class tells right there they are OP period and Anet to stupid too see that.
So your build counters everything but one profession’s build? You want that one profession nerfed to not counter your build?
This game is full of hard choices. Do you slot a stun break to deal with stun/burst or use something more “fun”? It’s up to you. I would think if the Thief profession gives you the most trouble, you would consider trying to counter it but that’s just me.
(edited by Stiv.1820)
Every few days, someone puts a “I Hate Thiefs” thread up in the WvW section. And it always results in the same debate, with the same comebacks from both sides.
Here’s the reality: If you wear leather or cloth armor, you’re gonna get ruined by a decent thief when you’re alone, the majority of the time. Every class has their place/role in WvW and don’t forget… Every server has thiefs, so while your Elementalist is getting torn apart by another server’s Thief… thieves in your server are tearing apart the opposing server’s elementalists, etc.
If you dont wanna get ruined by a thief, travel with a safety buddy, a zerg, stay by npc’s, or become a thief yourself.
It’s a dynamic of the game, accept it, and keep playing.
It’s not profession based at all. It’s everyone’s stubbornness to go glass cannon. Ask any decent D/D ele with some bunker if they have any problems with these thieves. Bunker guardians and Warriors can tank multiple stealth spam thieves indefinitely. Condition swap necros are a straight up hard counter to this spec. Net spam engines help groups destroy them and yes Moa is IWin against them especially if you are in a group.
Everything has a counter, the era of glass cannon is over. OP can Adapt or make QQ threads.
After re-reading your invuln comment I see what you tried to say and you know what, I’d take that over stealth any day. That would be much more powerful than stealth. The fact you think it isn’t is further proof you don’t really understand the mechanic.
The only thing that needs ‘changed’ at all is that the rendering issues need fixed.
^This. Thieves are fine, maybe a little OP but in most games stealth classes are harder to catch for a reason. We get the rendering issue set and I suspect there will be less QQ about theives.
The OP isn’t complaining about rendering though. He’s QQing about x/D builds and/or a D/P build that if traited for perma stealth does terrible damage and is only good at killing uplevled or bads and trolling supply camps.
Sure you do that. Stealth in this game is just dumb. No timer, you can stealth anytime, nothing stop stealth , nothing knock people out of stealth . Imaging if warrior had an ability that let them hit you and get invulnerable for 3 secs with no cool down. Even if that was the case I still rather fight a warrior. In that case I can at least keep my target on him and chase him down or back away.
This is a typical post from a typical player who doesn’t understand the game mechanics. Play a Thief to ~ level 30 and get your learn on, it will help you fight them.
If you aren’t willing to learn the mechanics of the other professions to PvP against them, then you honestly don’t have anything to complain about.
You are a typical player who plays a typical thief who doesn’t know the potential of your own class. I have no problem with 90% of the thieves out there thank god they are bad like you. But the few who does know the class and ‘abuse’ stealth is just dumb. But you would have a clue what I’m talking about anyway.
Whatever you want to believe there big guy. How about I just point out all the inaccuracies of your previous post:
“No timer, you can stealth anytime”
- false, 3 second debuff that prevents stealth on attack from stealth. If you are dying to someone who is attacking you with no stealth opener then you are hopeless.
“nothing knock people out of stealth”
false, any knock back or pull can pull us out of Shadow Refuge within the first 4 seconds. These also effect people in stealth, look at guardians dropping the field keeping stealthers in place.
“you and get invulnerable for 3 secs”
false, stealth is not equal to invulnerability. They can be hit like anyone else.

edit: Here is my favorite case study quote on this topic:
“MrSilver.5269:
I hate to admit it, but I was here QQing for the better part of the last week or so. I then decided to roll a thief just to play around with the mechanics to better understand the class.
I only got to level 31ish so although I’m no expert, I now understand the class much better now, and went back to the drawing board to change my entire engineer spec. I was hesitant to do so because I was concerned as an engineer I would hit like a wet noodle. Yes, my damage did take a slight hit, but not as much as I thought due to a mechanic of one of the engineer’s utility skills that evens the playing field considerably. The funny thing is that the solution was sitting right in front of me, and I just didn’t see it.
In any event, the long of the short of it is that by figuring out how to counter the thief, I stumbled upon a MUCH more durable version of the engineer that I am REALLY enjoying playing.
So, I’m here to formally apologize for my QQ.
SORRY!!!!!”
(edited by Stiv.1820)
I have a no stealth evade tank build ready to go for the day you QQers manage to get Anet to destroy the Thief class with a change like this. It’s so much easier than learning to combat the mechanic.
I’m actually OK with downed state.
What I’m not OK with is that players have WAY TOO MUCH HEALTH in downed state. At least apply the 25% reduced health in downed state to WvW (sPvP already has it)
Yea this may at least give you a shot to stomp if the downed person or someone else uses their interrupt too early. As it is now, assuming at least one interrupt, 1 rezer always beats 1 stomper (without quickness, on the first down).
nor do I believe it doesn’t say “soulbound” on the item description.
Try it with some cheap items. Buy a piece of gear, buy a rune, slot the rune. It doesn’t change to soul bound in the description and if you equip it, it will warn you that it’s going to bind to you. I’ve upgraded many item to use myself and they always warn when I’m about to put them on.
Honestly, based on everything in this game, I almost would not even believe that warning if I did read it.
(edited by Stiv.1820)
I’ve run a P/D build from the beginning and it’s getting less powerful over time. It’s a hard counter to any glass cannon build though. You can kill hordes of glass cannons/lowbies/bads at once.
Any professions that use any sort of bunker build you can’t kill without a very prolonged fight if they have some skill.
How about this. Add a utility skill to every profession that allows reviving downed people in WvW. Without it, you can’t do it or it takes 5x longer.
At least that way everyone has to sacrifice something to be uber healers on demand.
And yet he can buy gear off of the TP which comes already upgraded thus setting him up for a major mind kitten. Does give a popup warning of becoming soulbound though.
Yes, I admit I’m guilty of seeing what I want to see. I think I lazily skimmed that over the fist time I ever did it and figured it was warning me about destroying the current runes.
I know in Rift, you’d submit a ticket and they’d fix your mistake, even when it’s blatant player-error like this. They view it as customer-care, with a real service attitude about support.
NCSoft, in my experience playing Lineage 2, doesn’t view support tickets as a customer-care thing, more like a police thing. So if you got scammed or lost items or whatever, all you can do is file a report.
Just like in real life, you’re better off never talking to a cop.
Well that post seemed helpful and on-topic. It’s a good thing the game has players like you around to support it, otherwise people might get negative impressions.
/sarcasm
I actually did mean for it to be helpful and on-topic.
If you played a game owned by a US company (say Rift or WoW), you’ll have mistaken expectations about customer support when you approach an NCSoft-owned game (or I suspect any Korean/East Asian company, my experience with Sony was similar).
GW2 support are there to enforce rules and report bugs, not there to help you.
I’m sorry for the OP’s loss. It sounds actually minimal, not exotic stuff, and you can salvage the runes.
It wasn’t a big loss. I got 7 ectos out of it all. If it had been exotics I would have been hurting.
So the bug is the reverse then. When you soul bind items you cannot possibly use, it doesn’t say it is soul bound.
No, it has nothing to do with your ability to use the item. It’s when you put an upgrade in any item that is not already soulbound to you. I does make the item soulbound, just like it tells you it’s going to. It just doesn’t change the message on the item tooltip.
I realize this. I was just hinting at my lack of understanding how you can even soul bind items you can’t use. What activity is this designed to prevent? I also don’t understand how I was able to send him the boots which I had just put a rune in as well.
Yes apparently I never heeded the warning. I thought it was about destroying the rune/sigil that was in there. Every time I’ve done this for myself I’ve had to soul bind when I equip. That along with it not making logical sense to bind, I never put it together.

Not all the pieces acted soul bound and not a single one turned it’s status to “soul bound”
Up until this update I had no reason to even consider another game anytime in the foreseeable future. I still really enjoy the game and the actual FOTM content is pretty fun. The new gear tier though, sorry but it’s made this game no different than any others out there so I’ll be checking out the new MMO’s that come out over the next couple years. If they hadn’t done this, I could see myself playing GW2 for a long long time.
I have a feeling it’s a problem with the free to play structure. I prefer a sub at this point so they don’t have to cater to people who buy lots of stuff.
It’s a terrible mechanic for WvW. The speed they can be brought back up is stupid. You should be able to interrupt rezing them with plain damage and you should not be able to rally off PvE mobs in WvW.
So my bro isn’t into the min maxing as much as me so I helped him buy gear for his 80. Got him all the runes and sigils and put them in the gear for him. I’m on my Thief and buying heavy armor and weapons I can’t possibly use. When I tried to send it to him it acted like it was all soulbound. It still said “soulbound on use” or whatever but won’t go in the guild bank and can’t be mailed.
Apparently there is a bug where if you socket stuff it has a good chance to bug out and think it’s soulbound.
Support has no tools to help with this stuff, I just did it with rares so lost ~3 gold but if someone did this with full exotics… ouch..
edit: oops… buy

No. Dev’s said previously there would be no permastealth in this game.
There is currently such a state of stealth that it is pretty much permanent. Unlike other games you can stealth, attack and restealth repeatedly. AND you can damage people without being seen. It is absurd.
While individual skills may indeed be working as intended, combined groups of skills are not. The dev’s need to reevaluate each stealth skill and look at tneir cumulative effect.
Stealth was intended for hit and run tactics. What I currently see is stealth, restealth and grief tactics that are too powerful.
It’ s not intended for hit and run. That would be traditional toggle stealth. In this game Thief stealth is designed to be part of the combat flow.
He is not meant to be invisible for so long. Anet really needs to evaluate the theif skills that grant inv as they are not working as intended.
If this was a small scale fight (it sounds like it was) it’s working as intended aside from ~1 sec of lag between unstelath and when your client registers. They have to physically attack you to chain stealth with this build and as the poster above said, dodge, block, immune all burn their init and force them to burn cool-downs. Once you get everything down, and especially if you have a counter to Shadow Refuge (area knockback/pull) you can get the kill.
Problem is people who know how tab target the un-stealth swirl and attack no problem, especially ranged attackers. I do it the thieves and Mesmers all the time.
