I’m experiencing insane lag and disconnects (Err 7) since I logged in about an hour ago. It’s so bad that the game is unplayable. I just left a fractal group I was in (we were at the start) because the same exact thing happened last Friday evening and I knew they would be carrying me through. This also means that I will probably be missing out on my daily chests after reset because the people I usually go with aren’t having problems and will likely leave me to PuG them once I’m able to stay connected for longer than 5 minutes. This isn’t how I wanted to spend my Friday evening.
I’m on the east coast US. Everything except GW2 seems to be working fine.
A gift from myself to myself on loner’s awareness day.
That’s not weird at all! Right? *nervous chuckle*
Whatever! Everyone in LA seemed to be amused when I was throwing bouquets around like an insane wannabe bride.
I gifted them to myself because I’m awesome.
It’s not a bug. Midnight Fire a very dark red. On some armors it will look what I call “backhole black” where all the details vanish and on others it will appear to be reddish or brown. The same is true with Midnight Ice except it’s blue.
I would recommend Abyss if you’re looking for something that’s black on almost everything since I believe it’s the darkest gray.

I literally just ordered a Logitech G110 keyboard and G600 mouse.
Does that mean I cant even use these, even when the buttons are just remaps?
Since, as stated, the mouse would likely let me play “better/faster” then some.
I’m almost positive that you won’t end up banned for using them. Anet doesn’t seem to have a problem with people using gaming peripherals as long as they aren’t being used to automate stuff to the point where the player could walk away from the keyboard and their character would still be considered active. Remapping a few keys still requires you to be at the PC mashing buttons.
I’ve been using a G series keyboard for several years and haven’t been banned in any game because of it. I hardly use the programmable keys for GW2, but the software is always running.
It seems pretty unlikely that people are getting banned simply for having a gaming peripheral like a keyboard or mouse. I’m not saying false positives are impossible, but they are very rare.
Corpse dancing, jumping and other humilation tactics -- When are they acceptable?

This thread reminded me about something amusing that happened earlier!
The map has been mostly one color all week and I know what it’s like to be on the side that’s not dominating so I decided to be nice when I saw some invaders wanting to do one of the jump puzzles. Well… that was the plan…
There were two invaders about to hop across the waterfall and one decided that attacking me would be a good idea! I pushed him off the cliff. A few minutes later we met again and he managed to kill me because I wasn’t paying attention… mkay, fair enough! I guess we were even since I made him fly off the cliff and I wasn’t too bothered since my friend was nearby to resurrect me… then he started to point, laugh, dance and sit on my corpse. I was resurrected just in time to pull the punk into the water when he was about two jumps away from the key.
Teabagging and dancing on corpses isn’t usually something that bothers me, but I was planning to be nice to that dude. I wouldn’t have made him redo the whole puzzle if he didn’t dance on my corpse. The best part was that he probably would have had plenty of time to make it to the key if he didn’t stop to dance on me.
I’m not sure how adding another “me too!” post is going to help, but I’m also stuck. My character selection numbers haven’t even budged since yesterday. I got 100% world completion around 4am this morning and then found the last few spots I was missing for the exploration achievements a few minutes ago.
World Completion: 100% (Received the 2 gifts.)
Krytan Explorer: 175/175 (100%)
Orr Explorer: 60/60 (100%)
Maguuma Explorer: 165/165 (100%)
Shiverpeak Explorer: 172/172 (100%)
Ascalon Explorer: 175/175 (100%)
Been There, Done That: 97%
Character selection screen:
Character – 98% Map complete
Map Completion Medal: 97%
I was so happy to log in a little while ago and see that there was a new build! I immediately spent the coin to travel all the way to Orr from the Ascalon area (it’s not breaking the bank, but that’s coin I could have saved if the patch notes had been more specific) aaaaaaaaand then I find out the skill point was still broken.
I’m usually one of the people cheering for Anet, but I’m a bit disappointed that this problem has persisted as long as it has and still remains unfixed. :/
Still broken on Yak’s Bend.
Saying I’ve been pretty happy with the game is a bit of an understatement, but omg these glitched skill points keeping me from 100% are reeeeally starting to get frustrating! I’ve been stuck at 98% for Malchor’s Leap going on 2 days now. It’s nice that world transfers are still free and some people have been getting around these glitched skill points by transferring to a different world, but we shouldn’t have to resort to that. Hopefully they will figure out why the skill points are glitching and fix them soon!
My ele is dying to see which pieces of heavy armor she will get as a reward!
A lot of people say “crash” whenever anything goes wrong. It can be a little annoying and misleading, but it seems like the same problem a few of us have been posting about recently. ( Thread #1 and Thread #2 )
The only error messages are the usual “lost connection” and “unable to reach log-in server”… because the connection died. (Not the connection to Anet’s servers. My internet totally dies for a few minutes. No browsing the internet or anything!) Windows doesn’t give any crash or error messages. The game doesn’t even crash. It just sits there waiting patiently for the connection to return.
— My router (Netgear N300) is wireless, but I never go wireless with this PC.
— Connecting directly to the modem (Motorola SB5101) doesn’t help.
— Reinstalling the game doesn’thelp.
— I’m (still) running Vista with all the service packs and updates.
— All of my drivers, including network, are up to date.
— My firewall isn’t blocking anything game related.
— My anti-virus (Microsoft Security Essentials) doesn’t appear to be angry.
— My PC is clean. No viruses, trojans, spyware, malware, etc.
— No odd processes running.
— Closing non-essential programs (Skype, Steam, Chrome, etc.) while playing doesn’t help.
— Playing other games and using services like Skype and Netflix without GW2 open doesn’t cause disconnects.
— Moving my cellphones to another room doesn’t help. (This was grasping at straws! )
— My ISP (Suddenlink) was contacted a few weeks ago when the problem started and they couldn’t find anything wrong.
The only recent hardware change was the graphics card. I went from an 8800 GTS to a GTX 560 Ti a day before the headstart began. The problem actually started while participating in the stress tests a week before the game went live! I have my doubts about the beta drivers causing some sort of conflict since a friend with an ATI card has also been experiencing this problem for a couple of weeks. The only thing we have in common is the router model. Our ISP, OS, hardware, etc is different.
I put most of this in my ticket and I suspect they haven’t given me a real response since it’s a pretty odd problem and there are quite a few high priority tickets in the system that need to be taken care of. I totally understand!
If someone from Anet wants to look into it, the reference number is: 120911-000518 (The GameAdvisor and ArenaNet.log files were included.)

A few of us have been experiencing the same exact problem and nobody from Anet has responded to the threads.
Have you tried contacting support yet? I did the other night and so far all I have received was a canned response requesting that I send files that I sent with the ticket to begin with. I was hoping it would speed things up and cut down on the canned responses. *facepalm*
Maybe they will see that it’s a real problem if more of us contact support!
Yes and no.
The client you and I connect to the game with does not do this.
The client used by testers and anybody else that had to sign an NDA does watermark screenshots for obvious reasons. You would know if our screenshots were watermarked since the type of watermark Anet has always used isn’t very subtle. (There are a few examples floating around out there but I can’t remember exactly where they are. Sorry!)

Complete network disconnect while playing GW2

I don’t think we are going to get a response on here, so you guys should probably contact support if you haven’t done so already. Be sure to add all this stuff and any additional details you can think of that might help. They really need to address this issue!

…aaaand the problem has returned. I guess “fresh install” can be added to the list of stuff that doesn’t help.
Can someone official please let us know that this problem (also discussed here) has been noted and someone is looking into it? Most of us have tried everything that’s been suggested for connectivity issues and none of it has helped. This is getting very frustrating and it makes playing the game (and anything else that requires the internet) impossible at times.

I had the same exact problem and I haven’t had any issues since I downloaded a fresh dat file last night. *knocks on wood* I’m definitely not saying that I’m 100% sure it solved the problem, but it’s worth a shot! It’s possible that there could be something in there that’s corrupted and it might cause our connections to freak out.

110C? :o *insert cute kittens here*
You said you cleaned it a week before launch, but how often were you evicting the dust bunnies before that? Letting a few years of dust build up can and will cause issues over time.
My guess would be that your fan probably died. It’s highly unlikely that the card would have generated that much heat if it was functioning properly. A graphics card died on me a few years ago and that was the culprit. It was a sudden and very quick death since I was in a game at the time. Keeping it clean doesn’t guarantee that the fan will live forever.
Overall Update
According to several posts here, the issue is the following:
Disconnections ingame, which are affecting some players connection to the internet for several seconds and others that are just disconnecting. There seems to be a correlation between the DCs and Sky broadband in Europe. Furthermore these DCs seem to be at peak times ingame.
Still no reply from a mod yet.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume this thread won’t ever get a response since there are two totally different issues being discussed here. There are several “me too” posts that don’t belong and Anet created a thread specifically for people that experience lag and disconnects so they can figure out what’s going on with that. That is NOT the issue some of us have been experiencing!
I am almost positive Sky broadband is not the reason why some of us are totally losing internet connectivity for a short period of time since I live in the US and they don’t offer service here. (My ISP is Suddenlink.) Sky may be the reason why some of the “me too” people are having issues with lag and disconnects, but I seriously doubt it’s related in any way to the type of disconnect the thread was originally about.
A little update about the odd disconnects…. I played the game for a bit last night and a few hours this morning without any issues. Maybe getting a fresh dat file did help! I’m still not positive since the problem was pretty random, but I’m trying to stay optimistic. So far so good!
Soooo this has become a general "I get lag and disconnect" thread? :/
Some of us are experiencing a very odd type of disconnect. We are playing just fine and then suddenly our internet goes out for a short period of time. No GW2, no google, no youtube, nothing! It only happens when playing the game. I can’t speak for the others, but I haven’t been having any issues with lag.
I did a fresh install of the game a little while ago and the couple of hours I played tonight were fine. It’s hard to tell if it actually solved the problem since it’s pretty random, but hopefully it did! *crosses fingers*
It’s probably a different issue if GW2 is the only thing affected. The OP, me and a few others are totally getting kicked off the internet for a short period of time while playing the game.
There was an incident a couple of years ago when I was also having severe lag spikes and connectivity problems with GW1 and the problem was that my connection was hitting a bad node while on the way to Anet/NCSoft’s servers. It was like that for nearly a week until the people responsible for maintaining it got around to fixing it. (It wasn’t anything my ISP or Anet could fix since it didn’t belong to them.) Maybe it’s possible that some of you are experiencing the same?
Are those of you reporting lag, disconnects and login issues getting totally kicked offline as well? Not just the game… everything! Your internet service totally dies for a short period of time? I ask because I hardly ever experience lag spikes unless Anet is doing maintenance and I haven’t ever had any issues logging in.
It seems like my problem started earlier than most and I’m considering starting over with a fresh dat file since it’s possible something in there has become corrupt since April. I’ll let you guys know if it helps later.
I just experienced another one of these disconnects. It occurred immediately upon reaching the Blasted Moors vista in Diessa Plateau. There was a loading screen because of how you get there (trying to be vague in case someone wants to figure it out themselves) and then my modem started blinking before I could even hit F to view it.
It probably doesn’t have anything to do with that particular event taking place since I did it a second time without getting disconnected, but my connection definitely freaked out for a few seconds during the first trip. Now I’m scared to keep playing since there are usually more to follow once it begins!
have you updated your network drivers lately by chance?
No, I usually try to keep my drivers up to date and there haven’t been any recent updates for that.
I installed a new graphics card on the 23rd and this problem started during a stress test a few days prior to that, so I doubt it’s some sort of conflict there. There haven’t been any other hardware changes or driver updates besides that recently.

No responses yet?
It may be possible that a handful of us have modems that are dying at the same time, but I have doubts about that. Are any of you able to try a new modem (not router) to see if the problem clears up?
—My ISP is Suddenlink and I called them about 3 weeks ago when this happened during a stress test. They said they couldn’t find anything wrong and my signal was strong.
—I have a wireless router, but the PC I play GW2 on isn’t using wireless.
—Directly connecting to the modem didn’t help.
—Rebooting my PC didn’t do anything.
—Virus/spyware/malware scans all come back clean.
—The only error message I get is that the game lost connection and it can’t reach the login server.
My connection was very stable until about a week before launch. I noticed that it seemed normal on days I didn’t run the launcher to grab updates or participate in stress tests. I’m not sure if that helps and I’m running out of ideas.

I’m having the same exact problem as danefushi and it’s been pretty constant for a few days now. Sometimes I can play for a couple hours at a time without experiencing any issues, but then there are days like today where I can’t even stay logged in for 5-10 minutes before I’m kicked out of the game and notice my modem blinking.
I’m also starting to feel like it’s somehow related to the game since it seems to be the only common factor when my internet does this. I can play other games, browse the internet and use stuff like Skype or Netflix as much as I want… aaaaand then I connect to GW2 and it gets rocky.
It’s a little comforting to know that I’m not the only one having this problem even if my urge to throw something across the room rises each time it happens! :P
Is there any info we can give that would help?
