I kinda agree with the OP here. I was so hyped up for the game, even pre-ordered the game for 3 day head start. The no trinity sounds promising, and all classes can range/melee sounds cool as well.

But after playing I find that the no trinity and all classes can do everything makes everything homogeneous. The world bosses and dungeons are just a gankfest. And there aren’t any real gear upgrades at level 80, so you’ve experienced the content once there’s really no point of keep grinding the dungeons. Theres no satisfaction of getting more powerful as you keep playing like most rpgs.

This is a cool game and I do want it to keep going. I’ve stopped playing a while ago and now getting back to check it out. But I just don’t find any incentive to play. I dunno about other people but running around the map or spending hours collecting and grinding for a gear that only looks better isn’t gonna cut it for me.

Maybe Anet did not want to create a game where you have to grind dungeons over and over again. Maybe they wanted to aim their game at a playerbase who hates dungeongrinding….like me! I always hated grinding dungeons in WoW (because I think it’s the most pointless thing ever) and I’m so glad I don’t have to grind dungeons in Gw2 anymore.
If you enjoy grinding dungeons (and you have every right to enjoy that, it’s personal preference afterall) why don’t you play that other MMO who offers that?

So many people on this forums who don’t realize that Anet wants to be different instead of copying the same principles over and over again.

When you reach level 30 there should be a message in your mailbox directing you to your first dungeon which is Ascalonian Catacombs in the Plains of Ashford-Zone. There’s a total of 9 Dungeons currently in the game.

this link shows a map where all the dungeons are:

So I am a baby. I have tried p/p, s/p, s/d, d/d, p/d. I get beat every time. I am not sleepwalking this I am now 15 level I have all blue armor blue weapons. I have tried redoing my traits I still can not beat this part. I have tried this instance over 20 times now. And I am giving up? Just because you hit on a combo that works stop thinking it is easy.
I tried the suggest to use pistol whip. That didn’t work. So I’m I to believe that you little idea works BS. I am just tired of getting my kitten handed to me my this part.

My idea definitly works. That’s exactly how I did it.

Have you tried it?

Remember: you’re one of the FEW who fails at this step. The majority of the players managed to do it. I have great faith in you that you’ll succeed. Good luck and don’t give up!

(btw, you can check the daily logins under the transaction tab on the guild pane)

Doesn’t work properly.

One of my guilds has only ever had the same 3 people in it, no more, no less, and it says 8 people logged in today.

Guilds grow and die over time. It’s like the changing of seasons! (how poetic) Maybe it’s time for you to find a more active guild? I’m sure there are lots of them, you just have to find them;)

Anther idea could be to have adult only servers. For people who can handle things like mature language. It would require a CC validation.

Age doesn’t immediately grant you maturity. If we had to set an age, I’d say 30+. Everything below are just young adults who think they’re super mature and have a license to spread profanity uncontrollably.

That is true. Age doesn’t immediately grant you maturity. But in my humble opinion, if you’re 30+ and still spend times playing computer games there isn’t much mature about you in the first place. No offense

In the end the ban is up to the support team, so what those guys said must have been offensive to some extent and not just simply swearing casually. Not so much vigilantes as good citizens reporting a crime. Batman is a vigilante and no batman doesn’t ask the police whether he can serve justice!

Also whats with the beef with roleplaying? I don’t do it but I welcome others to…

It’s a lack of tolerance towards other playstyles mixed with an inflated sense of self-importance .

Why is it you have to have help? I am 13 lvls (3 above) above the 10 for this. I have the highest gear I can find and Doc Howler still waxes the floor with me. When she shoots she does not miss unless she is stunned. On pistol whip she breaks it instantly. I just think this should not be a 10 lvls instance maybe a 12. I have tried different weapon combos but nothing is working. I am at the point that playing a thief is impossible to pass this. I just bought this game and this type of poor char balance makes me want my money back.

C’mon don’t be a baby. You encounter a challenge and you already give up? It’s certainly not impossible. Countless people beat that story-mission with a level 10 thief just fine. You’re just one of the very few who fail. If your tactic doesn’t work it’s time to try a new one.

Here’s how you do it as a thief: Use double-dagger to define your weapon skills and if you have the skill-points unlock “Roll for initiative” and “Caltrops” for your utility skills.
Start the fight by spending all your initiative on death-blossom followed by caltrops->roll for initiative->more death blossom and she will die on heavy bleeding damage in no time.

This is just one method to do it. I’m sure there are many more ways to beat doc howler and other people can give you different or even better advice.

Since when are games supposed to be for sleepwalkers? Be glad there’s a challenge every now and then.

Like it or not those guys aren’t doing anything wrong by reporting role-players .

It is not up to the players whether it will be deemed offensive or not. Anet makes the call and they’ve decided that whatever role-play these people do falls outside of the rules of the game.

End of story.

Reporting roleplayers for being roleplayers is not a reportable offense.
If these roleplayers are rude or harass people then they’ll be reported…but for being rude and harassment and not for roleplaying.

Without role players Nayru you would not be playing this game or countless others. It’s role playing that created the demand for this genre of game. So get over it.

Thanks for the laughs.

I’m glad he made you laugh! You’re way too grumpy for your own sake;)

The topic got slightly derailed though. OP wants to turn our attention to these “vigilantes” and not discussing whether RP is allowed or not (we already know it’s allowed and Nayrus opinion won’t change that)

Guild Wars is a video game. Video games are for gaming. Role playing is not playing the game. If you want to role play so badly you can use external IM software. What do you have to complain about?

Of course role-playing is playing the game. What are you talking about

On topic: How exactly are the Roleplayers interacting with other people? If they just roleplay among themselves without making use of the map chat (aka privately) , then there shouldn’t be any reason to ban them.

Straylight.7408

I don’t think it’s a question about right or wrong when talking about mounts in Guild Wars 2.

The design philosphy behind the traveling system focuses on waypoints. Adding a new traveling system on top of that would defeat that purpose. Guild Wars 2 wants to be different than other MMO’s. This is one of the many differences and I doubt they’ll change it.

You have witnessed a dynamic event in the living, breathing world of Tyria.

You might run by a village at one point in time to find it a bustling, thriving place.
Go by it later and find it overrun by enemies.
Even later (if you did not defend) and find it burnt to the ground.

That doesn’t explain why her husband could not see the dragon even though they were at the exact same spot at the same time. It was probably just a glitch.

Maybe it’s just a glitch. It’s the same exact dragon from the prologue-mission of the sylvary story line appearing in the exact same spot. It happend to me on my human-character in queensdale two times aswell. When I walked from the trading post towards the garrison I saw the earth-elemental from the prologue-quest. Once I approached the elemental it disappeared.

We are in a personal party but when we go to do our personal quests it asks if we wanted to join the others, so one of joins one of our story and doesn’t get xp for it!

Of course you don’t get xp for your buddys quest. Otherwise you could duplicate xp by running your buddys personal story. If you help him with his story quest and he helps you with your storyquest both of should get roughly the same amount of xp.

Besides, personal story quests are just a small (doesn’t mean unimportant) part of the game. You’ll find enough time playing with your friend outside of personal story quest. Don’t worry.

Are you refering to the big upcoming January/February-update? If I remember correctly they were not labeling it as an expansion, just that it would be “bascially an expansion” because of the size of it. If they’re going to do real expansions in the future you’ll have to pay for it.

I’m not sure if anyone here can tell you if it’s gonna be good or bad:)

I wouldn’t say most people finished everything. Most people probably did not finish everything there is to do in GW2.

I just started a new human character on Aurora Glade and I see tons of people running around doing events & heartquests in Queensdale. Holidays are certainly one of the reasons for that and the number of people will certainly drop down a bit once holidays are over but…

I’m one of those that tried to start with the first big rush through but irl got in the way.
So even with just an hour or so most evenings this has to be the loneliest mmo experiences ever. All the hearts solo, all the everything solo, it’s so solo in the lowbie areas if I actually see someone else run near me I stop and stare.
I haven’t seen a DE trigger since so long ago, I don’t even remember the name of it or even the zone. But that the grand total= 1 fricken DE and I’m lvl42 now.
As far as shouting out in /map chat, lol, crickets.
Anywho I just keep plugging away missing huge chunks of game bought and payed for but never to be seen until the moment I go screw this and play something else.
So /signed for any suggestion to be put in place to solve this.

…I have difficulties believing this. It can’t be that extreme. What server are you playing on?

Jade Quarry. Yes it’s exactly as described. Now lvl54 just racing to finish 1 toon and that’s that. Finally got group for my second only DE at the tail end of lvl47ish 3 days ago. I’m sure the higher lvl I go the more peeps I’ll see its where everyone is (end game).
The only time I have ever been in an overflow – Lion’s Arch that’s it.
Anywho cheers Straylight

I’m not sure if there’s some kind of misunderstanding. Are you talking about “Dynamic Events” ? The orange events that pop up all over the place all the time? And you only encountered two of them up to level 54?

Since I don’t see anyone else complaining about the total lack of DE on Jade Quarry I’m pretty sure you must have mixed up something when you were refering to Dynamic Events

What is with Queensdales DE's?

I’ve also noticed lots of missing DE in queensdale. In the vicinity of the first 5 hearts the windmill, drake-broodmother, roadblock, the quiz in the cave, earth-elemental at the dam, escort cocooned worker at orchard and rampaging bull events never happend and I’ve spend several hours looking/waiting for them. I’m playing on Aurora Glade. Also people are complaing about shadow-behemoth not spawning “for weeks”. I couldn’t confirm that one though.

Are these bugged and missing events different from server to server?

Ok, I just solved the problem by deleting the “local.dat”-file under mydocuments/guildwars2 (where the screenshot-folder is). Maybe it will solve your problem too. After you delete this particular file you’ll have to download the latest patch again and of course all your graphic-options/sound-options etc..are back to default.

I’ve got the same problem. Had an average of 55 fps up until yesterday with everything maxed out except sumpersampling and reflections on “terrain and sky”. Since today my fps dropped to an average of 35 fps.
I’m not participating in the lost shores event.
Putting “shaders” from high to low increases my fps to an average of 50. It seems the fps-drop (at least in my case) is caused by the shaders-option which was fine since yesterday.
