Those of you saying its pointless are in the higher tiers, yes? Is there still just too much k-train styles of the main commanders there that it makes little difference? Has there been any kind of change if you were to compare this week to the 1st week of Sneak Attack?
It appears to be making T2 NA much closer.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I am on FA and I would say that solo roaming is still possible for most of the day. And I very rarely see queues
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
This thread says mesmers, rangers, thieves and warriors are op…
/closethread.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
2 Glassbows
1 Settlers, Natures Voice/Condition Build
1 Spirit Ranger
1 Celestial Trapper
It would still get wrecked though :|
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Here’s an idea -> put them in the Garri.
Then at least people might help defend if it is being attacked.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
T2 has been a lot closer the last few weeks…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I used to go Rabid with Sharpened Edges + Earth sigils and it is obviously more offensive, but IMO opinion you invest a lot of stat points for just a few more bleeds.
Dire is far tankier and you can still get 10+ bleed stacks with SB/Axe/Dagger.
Traps automatically mean that you are taking a very offensive build anyway, so you have to rely on your gear to keep you alive.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
He’s stuck in an EOTM karma train.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Yeh I’m pro fishing and farming in queensdale. I love that place.
Its like pre-sear ascalon.
It would be nice to have more RP/non-violent reasons to hang out there.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
To all those shouting “Ghostly Hero!”
I show you this:
(see attachment)
Chest, gloves, and boots are AC heavy armor. The helm looks like a slightly modified version of such.
My bet is on Rurik still, not the Ghostly Hero.
Also some lore for you folks on the Ghostly Hero:
In life, the Ghostly Hero was Turai Ossa. He believed himself to be a Chosen from the Flameseeker Prophecies and took his people on the Great Pilgrimage to the Crystal Desert to Ascend. He failed however, and was forced to act as a guide for the true Chosen to Ascend. However, once the true Chosen Ascended, he would be released from his mortal bindings, and allowed passage to the Hall of Heroes. This is why we see him in Tomb of the Primeval Kings later on.
Turai’s ghost – the Ghostly Hero – is no longer in Tyria and hasn’t been for 250 years.
Plus, what ties would Turai’s ghost have to the Durmand Priory (what’s in the background is the basement – so it seems we’re returning there)? It would make no logical sense.
Edit: Also, Zietlogik is right, that’s the Throne of Pellentia. Though why we have this is odd. And again, doesn’t make much sense.
The legs are pitfighters and the helmet looks like splint helm.
I agree it looks like Ghostly Hero but the armor would lead me to believe it is an Ascalonian.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
How long did you actually stay away for vee wee? Like a week?
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
To everyone complaining about trait acquisition…people asked for it!
Lots of people!
They wanted to recreate the skill hunting experience of gw1 which is more or less what the new system is.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Hound, any day. 1 KD, 20 sec cd AOE immob. 16 traited vs spider’s 45. Hits harder than spider, altho dies faster.
I run drakehound but I have more poison than he does. Doom sigil and shortbow is not much at all.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I think they should keep stunbreaks out of traps; instead we should be forced to make the decision of either filling our utilities with 3 traps and no stunbreak to capitalize on our trait sync, or bring 2 traps and a stunbreak for survivability.
What they need to do is make sure that bringing 3 traps is rewarding enough to make up for not having a stunbreak. The could do this by either buffing the 2 trap traits in existence or rolling them into a single GM trait.
Of course this could all be solved by adding an Elite or a Heal trap.
Consolidating the traits is not a buff as there is nothing else you can take anyway.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
A level 20 scroll, a few tomes, a birthday booster and 15 hours in eotm, as a vet it’s pretty easy to hit max level without much effort or time invested.
The trait thing sucks, but as a vet you probably have some idea of what you’re going to use the character for. The few characters I’ve leveled since the NPE just use meta builds, so I don’t have to unlock every trait. Both the gold cost and the skill point cost of unlocking a few traits is negligible, given that most of what you do at 80 gives scrolls and gold.
Exactly. I can’t believe ppl still complain about this…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
You have to PvP or wvw. Pve will never have enough content for you.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
1. WvW. They had a cash cow without any meaningful competition on the market and ran it into the ground. Literally. Its dwindling population speaks for itself. Even if they do something that is of actual meaning now, it is far too little and far too late. They blew it hard.
Have to agree with that one. I still don’t think they ever realised the potential wvw had.
Too bad it wasn’kittens own game. Imagine how it would look after 2 years of updates then.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I would consider swapping drakehound for spider so that you get some more poison uptime, which will help against wars, guards and eles.
Spider still has 2 immobs as well, they’re just not aoe like the hound.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I don’t want a new trap added (unless it is part of a bundle), as I feel trappers need to take spike, flame and poison in order to be remotely viable.
I always felt poison trap was sort of garbage. Trappers are almost certainly using SB, sword, dagger, spiders, or all 4 at the same time.
3 Traps, Longbow, Celestial Amulet, Lyssa Runes, Drakhound/Wolf – its awesome.
Poison Trap’s relatively high physical damage also works well with Celestial.
Only real way to make Traps viable is putting them all into Trapper’s bundle and adding “Dust Trap” which blinds like we had in GW1. Works just like kit’s but its our own style.
You just made yourself an Engineer with evades, weapon swap and a pet.
Otherwise I think we need to merge master and GM traits, and add a new GM trait which adds 2s stability on trap deployment.
2s feels a bit too much. When adding evades you could easily become unCCable.
Yeh that would actually be crazy uptime…maybe only 1 second then, and given that it might not necessarily be when you want it that could be a good compromise.

There is no need to revamps or movement of trap traits, this would give us them 2 extra Utilite slots we require for skills like Stone/Renewal combo. Problem solved and Trap Ranger would be viable.
I can already see 3-4 different amulet options depending on your roll.
This is probably the best, and easiest solution.

Space Marine Z [GLTY]
It was discussed quite a bit at launch actually.
A lot of gw1 vets held the view that levels were useless but the wow heads couldn’t get their head around it.
Also anet incorrectly assumed that it would take a while to get to 80.
Too late now, the levels system is way too far ingrained.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I think I would like to see staff ranger before hammer.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
To be honest, I’m not really trapping. Like to fight face-to-face.
But it would catch my attention if I were able to use it like a C4 & Granades in FPS games, or something like those. Place + Activate on will for additional effects.
The point of hunter traps are to catch or weaken preys, but the best we can do is to trap ourselves underneath, or crossing fingers to have an oponent who goes that way you expect. So it mostly works as intended, and there are more important ranger things to fix than Traps.
If traps had an additional activate button then you could add a stunbreak to the activate.
I would not want that all the time though. I would want the option of activation on click or activation when passed over.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Guardian in a good spot…lol
Last time they talked about a profession in good spot it was about mesmers…just before the necro patch.
Now mesmers have been left by most top players for about close to 1 year and a half.Nice to be in a nice spot. Guards are cursed and it will last.
Really impatient to hear them saying ele thieves and engies in a nice spot.
I believe he is saying that thief, ranger, guard will be in a good place once the nerfs to other profs are made.
Which makes sense because they were part of the meta before the celestial buff.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
It has been discussed before…traps force you to sacrifice your survival utilities which are essential in PvP.
We need access to at least one on-demand stun break whilst running 3 traps…
Nothing else is required.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Play the Winds of Change events and see what you think:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Winds_of_Change
I liked that a lot more than the original factions story.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
You’re all pointing fingers at the celestial amulet when it CAN’T be used for every class. Guardians/thiefs/mesmers/rangers Suck with celestial amulet while engis/eles/warriors excels with them.
Stop talking about the amulet. Talk about what these “op” classes have in common and why…
Celestial is arguably the best amulet for ranger as well.
They are not part of the meta for other reasons…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Yep have also been getting this a lot, maybe the last 7-10 days?
Thought it was just me.
For example stun breaks will have to be hit multiple times. But it is not like the usual skill lag/rubber banding.
Its like the press doesn’t register at all until you do it 3 times.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
And don’t stop swinging your sword when stealths, they’re not invincible!
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
As a class mechanic pets don’t really feel very defining, but you could say that about a couple of classes…
IMO pets are not needed as this is the long range, evasion, hybrid class…
The lack of a high level bm build says that very clearly.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I can’t believe they give refunds at all…
If you don’t like it, tough kitten! Buyer beware.
That said there is a tremendous amount to like in this game, if you don’t like any of it there is something wrong with you…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
People need to decide what sort of meta they want.
Nerfing Might Stacking would arguably create a more balanced game, but it would still leave Celestial as the top amulet for 4-5 classes.
That’s fine if you don’t care about what amulet you use, and in this world amulets would arguably be unnecessary and could be removed.
The other option would be to nerf or remove the celestial amulet itself, forcing people to commit to tank, glass, condition builds. This is closer to what I believe was the original intention, which celestial has moved us away from.
However, the game is proving more balanced now in the celestial meta.

Agree.
/15 charr
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I can get behind rebuilding on Orr first. No doubt there’s tons of long-lost goodies there that would help us set Charr on fire.
Yeh I like this plotline. Humans take over orr and then use it to retake ascalon.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
It is a pretty sad thing. I wish I could have done more to honor Ascalon and perhaps help it rise again some day.
It just seems I have to go with “accepting” the Charr and have no say in the matter.
I feel the same. I still hate the charr (and all non humans actually).
Maybe if they ever introduce factions to replace servers for wvw, ascalon can be one of the choices.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Clover recipe can be good if you have shards to spare.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
It’s true tho. Turrets have insane amount of defense, it should be reduced at least by 60%! There is no reason for them to be so tanky
What build are you running? I can literally use one utility skill and destroy all turrets in under 4 seconds. I consider 1 utility skill to neutralizing all of the utility skills of my opponent to be an extremely good trade.
Please tell me that your trying to make a joke by using the term “tanky” and “turrets” in the same sentence.
Yes what is this magical utility skill?
Rangers only damage dealing utilities are traps which don’t do anything to turrets…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I just want to point out that factions and nightfall were standalone games, much bigger than a typical expansion, and anet produced those in 12 months each with less staff than they have now…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
They should wrap up the dragons with s3 this year, and then release an elona expansion based on palawa joko.
I’d prefer cantha but I know that won’t happen.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Thanks everyone for the replies. It’s definitely helped ease some of my concerns. I guess I should just jump in and try an enjoy the single-player and levelling experience before worrying about the other stuff.
I suppose my worry was that because some of the professions play styles can differ quite drastically based on which weapon you use, I didn’t want to say, make a Ranger with the intent to play an archer archetype only to find that I have to go melee to be taken seriously. (‘Cause there seems to be a lot of hate towards something referred to as ’bearbow’ to be honest.)
When I last played there was something called a ‘signet warrior’ which was pretty hated too, and shamefully that’s what I played ‘cause I’m a sucker for passives and it seemed really effective.
For open world content, ie. Running around doing quests, killing bosses, etc – no one cares what your build or gear is.
For wvw, again no one cares but you will die a lot and have a hard time killing other people if you aren’t running the best gear/build combo for your class. And some classes are definitely better than others for wvw…
For PvP you absolutely need to be running certain gear/builds or you will be totally useless to your team.
For dungeons, this goes both ways. There are guilds who are happy to let you wear what you want, but if you are in a pug group the expectation is that you will be specced for full glass/damage. If not you will probably get kicked.
So it really depends on what you are doing. Sounds like you just want to level up and do open world for the moment, so just use whatever you want and have fun.
If you want to start wvw/PvP/dungeons you should look into the right builds for those.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
They didn’t ”nerf the hell" out of it, they slightly reduced the amount of chests that spawn at amber…bringing it in line with the other areas of the map which are hard to farm continuously.
People hit the chests pretty hard after the breach. Just use the lfg tool to find a map that is close to the breach and go nuts afterwards.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I seem to get really bad match making after a big win. As if it tries to make you carry a bad team after you do well in the previous match.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
It would have been wiser to introduce one dragon, kill it, and then introduce more if theywanted to go down that road. By writing them in at the start they have created a very uneccessary problem for themselves…
I’m not too fussed though, their story telling has been going downhill since nightfall IMO.
I’m not here for the story anymore.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
There gw1 ranger armours were no better, everyone was complaining about butt capes then too.
They need to get some leather vests\chest pieces in the game for medium.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
if i had to suggest a change for cele amulet i would increase all stats by about 7-10%, but then you only get to choose 6 stats and not all 7. you’d have to give up one of them of our choice. so you’d essentially have 7 different celestial amulets (cele without ferocity, cele without vitality, etc)
Best idea 2014
Ok that’s enough forum for this year, cya all Jan!!
We might as well get rid of amulets all together and have stat points only added via traits.
That is what the celestial meta has really done, made amulets uneccessary.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Aussi: mind posting ur build out? Looks very interestng and uses sword on both sides.
Also interested to hear what you use it for. Would you use it for ranked play or is it just a bit of fun?
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I don’t do them but do you even get anything for these dalies?
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I’d buy a colt .45 from the gem shop in a heartbeat.
And I don’t even have a thief or an engi…
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
IDK about boring to watch; an epic knockdown or treb hit or even a stun to instant melt from certain classes cough cough hint hint is entertaining but I will agree 100% to follow or learn the combat is definitely not an easy thing to do and takes actual practice and studying your class which in a game like LoL or Smite is a lot easier to do. I don’t mean to offend fans of those games I myself really enjoy LoL (Kassadin FTW) but you have to admit the learning curve for GW2 is a lot higher then LoL or Smite when you take into consideration perfect synergy to a build learning timing of dodges and tells of skills.
Commentators who control the stream would be good. They can decide what you see.
