Axe/Axe is hardly a weak power set….
Its OK for pve and wvw zerg…but its got no place in PvP.
PvP is where I like to use it as an AoE weapon, normally take LB + Axe/Axe, it’s extremely offensive, but it does wonders in team fights.

So I guess you could call that power.
But I found the torch and warhorn offhands way more valuable. Torch is a no-brainer.
For axe oh of course PoS hits hard but it is difficult to land. WD is useful against rangers but the CD is so long that they will rapid fire you again before you can use it.
At least warhorn has the AOE heal. Has saved my bacon many times.

There is a valid point here and that is that defensive trait setups are used by both zerk and celestial alike.
Defensive amulets with aggressive traits tends to provide less damage and defense than zerk ammy with defensive traits.

Careful what you ask for guys…
If people are incentivised to stay on their map then you won’t be able to taxi anyone into yours when you need them.
Do you really want to take a map form 0 – 100 only to fail breach because you only had a few people at each fort, and no one wanted to taxi in?
At least with the current system you can both play a map from the beginning, or map hop if you want to.
And you do get rewards, you get a tonne of crests and shovels.

I can only assume that they don’t want to change the cele meta, just make it a bit more even.
That’s fine, the game is arguably the most balanced it has ever been.
It does feel like it lacks variety though.

I played WvW from the start but I only started PvP’ing about a year ago.
When I first tried PvP it felt weird frankly. The duke nukem voice over, the capture points, and the respawn after death, it all made it feel like I was in a game of team fortress or something.
I did not try it again for ages. I kept playing WvW, getting more and more frustrated with the terrible balance and stale maps.
I also much prefer roaming over zerging, but even if the matchups were close it was often impossible to solo roam without getting run over by a mob.
The final straw was when my power ranger could not out damage the passive heal of an AFK healing signet warrior (this is pre sig nerf / pre ranger buff).
Fed up with WvW I decided to give pvp another go, and I have never looked back.
What it took me a year to realise is that pvp is:
1. the most balanced part of the game,
2. all of the fights are small scale, like roaming in wvw,
3. the reward tracks make it far more rewarding than wvw,
The balance is the key thing here. People complain about the balance in this forum all the time but compared to wvw, well there is no comparison. Classes are so out of whack in wvw its not funny.
So I am a happy wvw to pvp convert. I hope other people see the light.

Hands down 2x engi’s and/or 2x eles.
How many bad mesmers/thieves/rangers do you get compared to engis/eles/wars?People on these classes simply perform better. What I absolutely hate is having a comp with two thieves vs a team with two engis or eles… I know I’m in for a very rough game.
I don’t have much luck with Engis.
My matches usually go well if there is an ele or a War.
2 of anything is bad.

Another one is the staff elemantlists – As d/d eles are gonna get nerfed the replacement to that will become staff eles – the never dying menace that will take forever to kill. Nerfing sigil of might will not effect staff eles all that much as they have a lot of blasts on their own and a lot of sustain as well — keep an eye on that i’m sure they will become “meta” soon after you shave d/d eles.
Staff eles only have 1 blast: Eruption (2 if we include Evasive Arcana: Earth). Let me remind you that Eruption is a 1.25 second cast with about a 3 second delay until the ‘eruption’ and blast actually happens.
DD eles on the other hand have 3 blasts: Frozen Burst, Earthquake and Churning Earth (4 with evasive arcana) and access to Fire Aura by leaping with Magnetic Grasp through the fire field. All of the DD ele blasts are easy to use except for Churning Earth. Let me also remind everyone that Frozen Burst did not ‘blast’ until the April 2014 patch.
I’m not sure where the meta will go. But I am upset about the nerfs to Might and Battle Sigil. It seems like it is just scratching at a couple extremely op builds (cele dd ele, shout war, engi) and gimping Might/Battle for the rest of Guild Wars 2.
Exactly. 4 blasts to every other classes 1-2 (on bad weapon sets) so they nerf might for everyone…

I thought the celestial amulet and might sigils/runes needed a nerf before the actual stat, ah well.
The leaked reddit patch notes that Anet said were fake seemed much more balanced than this list does to me :x
I don’t see much changing from a pvp perspective.
Neither do I. Might is weaker but still just as necessary, and will be provided in exactly the same way.
It hurts ele, engi, war from a 1v1 perspective but not at the team level.

I don’t understand why shave all Might, instead of shaving certain classes ability to stack it so high. A nerf to Might in general hits all classes, which in a way makes it sort of a wash (though it does hit might stacking classes slighty more, the more you gain the more you lose), it also hurts my ranger because now my pet with 15 might stacks will do significantly less damage, and my axe just took a small nerf as well. Did ranger need such a nerf?
My thoughts exactly. This was the wrong way to go. I wanted to see either an amulet nerf or blast finisher/fire field nerf.

Vinewrath happens after the breach. Just use the lfg tool to find a map with ppl in it. Once a map gets 25%+ people will start taxi’ing in other people.

IMO this is another example of where they backed themselves into a corner with the lore.
You can see from globes around the world that our map of Tyria is only 1/8th of the entire planet.
Are we supposed to believe that these all powerful dragons only control this tiny portion of the world?
Seems silly to me.
I don’t see them expanding the world to be honest. They have more than enough lore/territory they can expand into just with Tyria and Cantha.

Yeh big difference between roaming and dueling.
The fastest camp flipping looks very different to a dueling build, which are typically very slow to flip camps due to no aoe.

I had the same thing about a week ago.
For me it was the one near the upper exit from black citadel. Even though I had uncovered that part of the map it didn’t trigger until I was like right on top of it.

I actually find it weaker than full rabid, condi/survival for WvW.
The power requirement for wvw is so high (thanks to the extra points available) that I don’t feel like it functions in a very hybrid manner at all. Its more like a gymped power or condition build rather than the best of both.
Its fine for 1v1 but I don’t think you have any chance of 1vX, where you need to burst people down quickly if you are going to win.
PvP is the complete opposite though.

Its an 834 (37%) point difference overall, with a large chunk of that going into HP, precision, and crit damage. I mean 37% more stats…that’s ridiculous! Its called the celestial meta for a reason :P
It gives you a 25% base crit chance and if you add some precision through traits/runes or fury then you will be doing a lot more direct damage.
I wouldn’t believe either but try it out. I find I live just as long and kill quicker.
I would probably take stalker over Jag. Even though the cast time is slow it provides it to your allies as well. So combined with natures voice you are providing both offensive and defensive support which is nice.

Everyone was arguing settler vs celestial a few months ago. I was voting settler but have since switched to celestial :P
The stat difference is just too great. You will survive almost as long thanks to the extra HP, and the extra damage means you can still kill ppl.
Like tragic said rangers aren’t really bunkers anyway.

I found 0/0/6/4/4 to be better. Fortifying bond with axe is much more valuable than invigorating bond IMO.
Also 0/0/6/6/2 is better for bunking as nature voice is perma regen, and heals for more than invigorating bond.
BM line is still too weak IMO. Only thing worth taking is mighty swap.

You’ll never win a 1v1 but sounds like its a zerg build. Specifically a backline zerg build. Meaning you are at the back taking advantage of your range.
IMO:
1. Power is too low
2. Toughness is so low you might as well go full glass
3. SoS is not going to keep you alive when your frontline breaks
4. Not much fury
I think you are sacrificing a lot of power and survivability for that high crit rate. You really have to utilise fury to get the most out of any wvw power build, which also means using SOTF.
I build my power build like this:
Which gives me more power, more crit damage, more toughness, more vitality, and heaps of Fury (which means the crit chance gets up over 50% with food).
It also has two stunbreaks, heaps of condition removal, and some soft cc via muddy terrain.
I also think you should go fire/air sigils on longbow. I haven’t done the math but I would bet that fire sigil adds more damage than 7% precision over time.
Also when fire and air double proc it can be a huge burst.

Arc and Stardust are the champ bag specific exotics. They seem to have a higher drop rate than normal exotics.
Ahh that’s right. The different bags have different exotics unique to them don’t they. Like colbalt only drops from the frostgorge bags…

I have opened a few hundred of these on my ranger and whilst I have had at least half a dozen exotics, they have all been either arc or stardust.

At the start 100g was a lot of money. And people typically bought them with guild money, with the guild nominating them to command.
These guilds would also talk to other guilds on the server, and coordinate when a commander would be online.

If you don’t play well and im doing ranked i’d of course blame it on them. If I see a guardian push far at the start of a match and leave a lb ranger to defend home of course id question why he was doing ranked matches.
That happens in most games…people just need to lower their expectations to avoid raging.
