So, month later, same question. I see that season 2 of living world starts tomorrow. Rolled a warrior for a while, but have only played her up to 25. Maybe it’s just the fact that I already earned my Kudzu, feels like end game, like nothing to really go for anymore and I just can’t seem to find a reason to play now.
how did u raise enough money for kudzu?
How are people making 2k+ Gold I saw some people saying they had up to 6k gold some had over 1k gold… Yet I can barely get past 50g… I make like 5g daily maximum.
I WvW 5-8 hours daily and can’t get anywhere near those 1k+ gold…
What tricks are people using to farm so much kitten gold?
Going full glass cannon is just begging to get picked off by somebody who looks for easy targets. Going full glass in wvw is rarely a good choice. Even if your zerg wins, there are usually still casualties from your side, if you go full glass, you will always be one of those casualties.
You can still do pretty decent damage if you pack on more survivability, but always bring some toughness and vitality to wvw.
1500 range is absurd, in a zerg its hard for the enemy to get through the whole zerg to kill the squishies on the back link, I still have good movement speed due to signet + GS and will most likely have full/near full endurance which will allow me to stall while the other people kill them. Regardless I never find myself in a dangerous situation nowadays if I’m with a zerg, maybe I have good positioning that’s why I have been contemplating a full damage build.
in zergs, full glass could work since you’d be with the glassy eles and necros anyways in that case (though personally I prefer going in with the heavies and lots of survivability. that extra waterfield has saved our team a couple times)
however, in small groups/roaming, full glass is basically never a good idea.
p.s. rapid fire will track and hit enemies even if they are stealthed
yep, I think I’ll keep 2 sets on me, 1 for roaming and 1 for zergs, gonna be expensive but will work well.
I have played many games throughout the years but this is the first game where I see someone call a glass cannon class that can hit sometimes over 10k and single handedly 1 shot squishys with a single skill, a bad class.
Utility isn’t everything, you need damage, regardless of how much crowd control, speed, slows and everything else you have, if you don’t have the damage to follow it up, then you won’t win regardless of how much cc you have.
Rangers aren’t bad, they are awesome in PvP, PvE , WvW (dungeons not so much), I honestly lol at people saying that rangers, a class that can literally 1 shot squishys a bad class.
Good luck getting to the back end of my whole zerg and get through my 1500 range to try adn kill me, before you arrive you’re already dead.

For you guys that have been playing ranger for over a year, what are your opinions?
A build focused ONLY on Power/Ferocity/Precision Or a build focused on Power/Toughness/Precision (or switch toughness with vitality whatever).
I feel like glass cannon is better in zergs as you can abuse your 1500 range and straight up do insane damage, you aren’t going to die regardless if you zerg wins and even if you’re a full tank ranger you’d still die if your zerg loses.
However going full glass cannon in 1 v 1 might be a bit bad as you can get 1 shotted by warriors/thiefs/any class that can interrupt or go invisible and therefore cancelling your Rapid fire which is your main damage dealing spell.
How does it work? It gives you 65 Ferocity and 100 Precision + the 7% bonus damage when using all 6?
Or it gives you 175 Precision, 100 Ferocity + 7% Bonus damage?
Pop a bunch of tomes of knowledge.
If you don’t have tomes, then level all crafting professions.
If you don’t have the gold for that, then craft as much as you can and then follow EotM zergs.
If you want something more fun than that, do sPvP and learn your class, then use the tomes to level.
Also, running around the world opening up waypoints is a relatively fast way to level which also opens up the map for you later.
1- I don’t do PvP that much, only rank 10 and only got 2 tomes which I’ll use them.
2- How effective is EotM zergs for lvling up?
3- I have been doing that but would take me a long time to get enough tomes for lvl 80.
4- on higher lvl zones some waypoints might be harder to get to + I don’t get gold while doing it
I already have a ranger lvl 80 with full exotic and 1 ascended accessory lvl 50 in WvW and rank 10 in pvp, however I’ve been playing warrior in pvp and love it so I wanted to play it in WvW but I’d be too weak unless I am lvl 80.
Anyone knows of a way to level up quickly? Preferably if it can be done in only a few days, I don’t have much gold to spend but I have a few boosters and I’m already lvl 25

Haven’t played for 3 months and everyone kept saying they were one of the top 3 worst classes for WvW , is it still the same? And what are the current best builds for WvW?
I had a longbow crit damage build which allowed me to stay really far and land 10k+ crits with the second skill however I’m failing really hard lately and damage doesn’t seem as high. Maybe its just me since I haven’t played for so long
amazing wars so far, Gandara still in front since the reset
Probably had most of the most epic wars in my life in the past couple of days since reset.
Just like any other GC profession, if you can’t dodge, you’re going to go down. Personally, I never thought it was bad. I was tired of changing gear so I went with all celestial gear just so I don’t have to change gear and still do decent damage.
I really like the Ranger in GC form or not.. I want to make it my main again… but can’t. Not while we are handicapped by the pet. I want the Ranger to be better and I feel at this point the only real hinderance left is the pet.
I agree the ranger is completely fine as it is we just need a better pet AI
Glass build rangers aren’t THAT bad as you people make the look like…
Been playing with my ranger for weeks in WvW and recently tried a full glass build (using skills as the only tanky/defensive thing I have)
Longbow + GS.
Never saw such high crits (oftenly 10k+ crits and my #2 spell in LB hits for over 10-20k over the whole channeling which is huge damage)
I find ranger to be a lot better than most people think , I’ve thought about quitting ranger simply from the comments in this forum but after really testing its not that bad.
About survivability the ONLY time I die is when I do a mistake / get caught by a zerk.
AND even then I’ve survived in multiple times where I was in the middle of a zerg (Sm castle fights etc)
We may not have the utility but we have the damage needed to nuke single targets and wreck downed targets in NO TIME (its WAY more important to kill downed enemies than most people think.)
After this being said I’m completely happy with my ranger and I don’t even have my full build yet so I’m pretty sure my dmg and armor will increase further on as I finish my build/set.
PS: What I find that helps me the most to survive in both 1 v 1 situations where u cant win and in huge zergs is:
Signet of stone (with the trait) is amazing you simply take no damage for 6 seconds , amazing to finish people in 1 v 1’s or run from zergs so u dont get downed.
Lightning reflexes, still testing this out but its quite decent, breaks stuns , deals damage , pushes you back away from the enemy and gives u vigor for almost 11 seconds.
Signet of the hunt
This is for overall speed when travelling in WvW and helps to get away from opponents.
For elite I use Rampage As One eextra movement speed + critical chance and stability
Immune to stuns , easy to run away due to extreme movement speed and damage increased due to might to your pet (even tho useless in zers) and chance to crit increased.
And I ONLY use GS to either Chase or Sweep AWAY.
as for pets I like tank pets such as wolf and bear with CHILLING so the enemies get slowed down.
Just 30 minutes ago I fought a guardian and he didn’t even touch me with all the crowd control I had

I need help for the last few days since i started playing gw2 again ive been lagging like hell in WvW low fps..
I have like 20 fps MAXIMUM with constant drops its pretty much unplayable all I can do is spam auto attack…
I have everything on low and im pretty sure my computer shouldn’t lag this bad…
Radeon HD 7770
8GB Ram
500GB HDD 7200 RPM
Intel I3 3.3GHz

no equips since i want u to comment on my traits and skills.
That build is mainly focused in using full ebrserk for 10k+ crits with LB aka glass build and staying tanky at the same time by using “guard” with bear/wolf tanky pets which will make me almost invincible in terms of getting damaged for a few seconds and then invulnerable to damage with signet of the wild or w.e the name was.
The other signet is for stability which will make me invulnerable to stuns
this way I can have hgih survivability due to 6-12 seconds of no damage taken + cant get stunned for 8 seconds + extremely high damage due to zerkers.
PS: I kitten up and didn’t put beastmastery signet trait but remove the pierce arrows and add that 1.
This build is for WvW mainly nuking the enemies frontline/backline and roaming
Full Berserker Ranger is tricky.
I haven’t played Berserker Ranger in the last 4-5 months, but looking at how PvP works nowadays, with lots of CC spam and stability, I’d recommend Rampage as One instead of Entangle.Either that or trait for Signet of Beastmastery, pick Signet of the Hunt, Wild and Stone. Signet of the Stone will make you and your pet invulnerable for 6sec, Wild will give you passive healings and stability on demand and Signet of the Hunt lets you run faster.
signet of stone only makes my pet invulnerable not me, I rather use a tanky pet like a bear whos F2 chills the enemy so i can stay at range and use “Protect me” incase they get close rather than making my bear invulnerable
And maybe zephyr since it breaks stuns but idk
Well, it is really up to you. If you want a build that focuses on defending or attacking keeps (from range), then go with the outright burst damage power+precision+crit damage build. I have a similar gear combination. I noticed that i still die a bit TOO quickly, despite the enormous range, so i got a few ascended trinkets with power+precision+toughness. Trait your points into marksmanship (30), skirmishing (30) and wilderness survival (10) to be more tanky and you are good to go. This build works wonders for me
If you are more into conditions, you can always go axe/torch or axe/dagger, with traits into wilderness survival, combined with beastmastery because frankly only the necromancer can ACTUALLY do decent damage with conditions, that’s why you need to ramp things up with pet damage. The other 10 points you can spend in skirmishing, taking the trait for extra pet condition damage. In this build use either spiders or devourers. This build is more of a “roaming” type, and you should stay back at gates, switch to shortbow and try to pick isolated targets falling from the walls. Also buff your team with healing spring.
You can also go full tank build, which i first tried when i leveled my ranger to 80, just go power+toughness+vitality combined with a greatsword and trait into wilderness survival and nature magic/beastmastery. I have also tried this build, it works quite nicely, because nobody really focuses your pet in WvsW roaming, and you can take all the damage while it just bursts down your oponents. For this build i strongly recommend the jaguar, as for the burst famage build.what u think about this build?
he does insane damage and he doesnt die that much in his vids
The gear really only depends on your play style. If you like the idea of going full zerker and doing massive amounts of damage, by all means do so. But take in consideration all the survivability you are sacrificing in order to get that 11k crit. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to play a class. Maybe only if you trait yourself for signets, but you use spirits, but you have to be totaly stupid to do that xD. Concerning this build, i think that all the runes and stat combinations are fine, and have nothing to add there. Traits are good too, although with the new patches the pet minor trait was changed, so you might not feel like specing into that. Everything else is OK with the build.
Yea I understand Im thinking about doing a similar build and focus a bit more on my survivability by choosing other skill sets and elite skill (protect me , thoughness signet ,health regen signet, the root elite since its great to bind enemies around me if they are too close and to let me run away and get to a large range before they break out of the roots.)
It’s more down to the fact that pretty much every time someone posts a build 5-6 people jump in to basically trash a play-style that they don’t personally enjoy. Purely because they feel that if the warrior community hasn’t bandwagoned to it then it must be terrible.
It’s primarily roaming focused but I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve actually died while running with the zerg for giggles.
How will I be able to keep up with the enemy? they usually run from me when I get close. I have the 4 from shield which is a stun but nothing else to keep them locked on me so they can easily run away if they knock me back or use a spell that pushes them back
really no1 can help me out?
I’m looking for a warrior build to use in WvW ONLY.
Needs high survivability and high damage!
Basically I must be able to tank and deal damage/cc to my enemies in zergs
(edited by Sumusikoo.1360)
Got lvl 74 hunter lvled from 50 to 74 in wvw and I heard they were bad in WvW WHEN COMPARED to other classes.
Which class would you recommend me to roll?
I like top:
- Deal Damage
- Being able to 1 v 1 and be usefull in zergs/WvW
- Not dying to quickly while still dealing dmg like I said above.
- If Possible AoE abilities.
No ele’s or hunters please.
I need some help GW2 is the ONLY game that makes my computer lag even though it shouldn’t since i get 180+ fps in most games.
It lags(low fps 15-25 max) in WvW alot and i don’t know how to fix this , I’ve reduced EVERYTHING to the MINIMUM and still A LOT of LAG / Low FPS
how can I fix this?
8GB Ram DDR3

What title says for WvW please
any other class?
if you like hunters then you might also like warlocks they also have pets which can tank for you and they are easily to level
thing is pets aren’t reliable in WvW neither is hunters damage great. hes basically a worse version of a guardian in WvW all I can do is tank
I have hunter lvl 70 and emsmer lvl 15 I have only tried hunter in WvW and i have lvled in WvW since lvl 45 , the thing is i heard rangers got nerfed in terms of condition damage which was their main damage dealing form and so they got nerfed hard and not to mention that they aren’t that great for WvW to start with due to bad pet AI
So I wanted to ask you guys which class would you recommend me to try? I like a class that is good to 1 v 1 and good in WvW (zergs) utility and damage (damage preferably)
which pets do you consider best for your build? And whats your opinion on birds?Hawks/owls
I use double bows in both PvE and WvW … Have anything to say ?? huh?
uh yeah bows are garbage for pve. the damage output is awful. aoe damage is pitiful and single target damage has v irtually no place in pve
lol man you are really, really bad at math if you think the SB damage is awful (bad compared to other classes maybe).
And then we add in the wonderful trait known as Piercing Arrows, mix in about 40% crit chance or more and a fire sigil and all of a sudden I am hitting everything in 1200 range in front of me and procing flame blasts consistantly.
No aoe indeed.
But I guess it’s so hilariously awful that we were all being deeply ironic in the thread flipping kitten after they nerfed the SB fire rate.
You do realize ANET has said that melee damage will ALWAYS be better than ranged damage due to the risk reward thing right? The more you try to defend the whole “Oh my bow is awesome for damage!” Argument the more you look like an idiot…
thats so kittening stupid. Warriors and all melee characters got more than enough gap closers to catch up to any ranger/range profession in less than a second.
No wonder warrios and thiefs are noobstompers with Anet giving them so many gap closers and making them even more powerful
I doubt my cpu goes to 100% when playing though
Full system specs including PSU would help alot
Radeon HD 7770 1GB
Intel I3 1115 3.3GHz
Gigabyte HDD 500GB 7200RPM
8GB RAM
M4TRIX PSU 550W
we were many but they were just wayyyyy too many
This happens
http://i.imgur.com/lynt1p6.jpg
needless to say we got owned
nope not overclocked
Yea, when I play for over a hour my computer restarts for absolutely no reason, and this only happens when playing guild wars 2, I can play LoL , regnum , anything I want to play and only happens in guild wars 2.
I got a radeon 7770 which is more than enough for gw2 to have everything in high with 50+ fps so its not a graphic card problem.
I also got latest drivers.
Its not overheating because my fans auto adjust themselves to keep temperature between 30-40ÂșC so overheating is out of the equation. (even if it was overheating, computer would shutdown not restart)
I think it might be a PSU / Energy problem, is there no way to reduce how much energy gw2 uses?
I play with everything on very high in lol while streaming with 200 fps and no restarts…
It depends on how much condition removal, or regeneration, you have already. If you feel that you have enough, then go for Hide in Plain Sight. If you also use Shared Anguish, you’ll have a very fun stealth combo with Hide in Plain Sight, as well.
check my traits post and tell me which you’d recommend
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mco9omMNmmmMNvmGxG9MMczMqVR
I’ve only setup the traits because Its what I want to focus on atm.
This build would focus on critical hits + condition damage.
It has increased condition damage , duration and chance to deal bleed upon critical hits.
I will use devourer because of its normal attack which has a 10% chance of applying poison and his F2 is a poison cloud, with these traits the condition damage and condition duration is also increased for the pet + 30% crit damage for pet.
I will use devourer because its the best pet in WvW in my opinion due to the AoE + range attacks which means he wont die that oftenly and still be able to dish out damage.
Other than that I also have traits for traps which will give me ALOT of crowd control and extra damage which are both good when fighting zergs AND solo
There are very subtle advantages for an invading force that frustrate me regarding structure defense.
1) A little ledge on top of the the walls (not even knee high) prevents my characters with a bow from being able to hit a large number of the attackers.
2) Several casting classes have massively powerful aoe skills that can not only make that wall the least safe place to be, but also destroy siege within seconds unless it is placed in some awkward and almost useless place.
3) People are cheap. How many times have you been at a tower defending and see seven or eight people firing away with a staff or a bow? Why didn’t they build an arrow cart or two? Naive might be the answer but the more probable explanation is they don’t carry siege and never buy any. They might lovingly donate their JP siege to a commander but rarely do they keep a few on hand for making a stand.
4) T1 towers and keeps are way too easy for 30 people to overrun unless there is an equal number of defenders. Three catapults or three rams can drop gates and walls of those places before most defenders can get there. Therefore most people don’t see the point of defending the structure.
5) The ability for guilds to claim a structure is a very cool but not fully realized concept. Most guilds will not burn guild buffs on a tower that could be flipped in a couple minutes while unattended. If this system was revamped and designed to make it lucrative for guilds to defend the structures they claim, and moreover if they wanted to claim the structure for a very rewarding purpose, defense in WvW would become a priority. As it stands now claiming anything outside of SM and the keeps is more of a vanity feature.
I could do a whole feature piece on #5 and have elaborated on this feature in another thread that was moved and will most likely go unnoticed by most people forever.
So freaking true I’d love WvW with all that stuff implemented
I love it.
Its so freaking strong in WvW you don’t have insane damage but you have insane utility.
Spiky trap for making enemies slow + bleed during zergs.
Muddy Terrain to root + slow enemies in zergs
Entangle for insane AoE damage + root
so much cc for your team to annihilate the enemies , I just love to play trap ranger in zergs.
I also use shortbow for AOE poison and devourer with poison cloud.
Combine it with entangle and muddy terrain and you are a nuker yourself
Which of these 2 traits u recommend me to choose?
ATM WvW is all about who has the biggest zergs , you have more numbers you win its that simple and you know it.
But to be honest WvW needs to add strategic aspects, I remember playing other WvW games which I will not mention the name here , where if your castle was being invaded by 40 people you could hold it with only 30 people (you would eventually lose the castle but you would be able to hold and defend the gate for quite a long time) this was because the guards were actually usefull and all classes balanced and coordination , but right now its all about having the higher numbers and spamming AoE’s that will kill you in 1 hit if you go out, so just relax and enjoy while you can’t defend yourself.
it needs to add a strategic aspect to the game , I’m not saying 30 people should be able to win vs 40 in keep/tower but they should give them a hell of a hard time since its a freaking keep/tower not an open field battle where higher numbrs really should win
I have ranger lvl 60 and mesmer lvl 15 , the question is which would you recommend me?
the thing is I like a class that can solo 1v1’s maybe even 1v2 to buy time or even win and to be good in WvW.
I know ranger is good in 1 v 1 ‘s but everyone keeps telling me to reroll since rangers are horrible in lvl 80 compared to other classes so I’m a bit confused.
Mesmer seems really nice with ALOT of escape utilities the problem is I don’t see where does the DPS come from and without dps I can’t do jack either
just a question.
Should I stack 3 mesmer clones and then send them to confuse the enemies or just everytime I got 1?
Hi guys going to make a mesmer now, I got no idea how to use them nor how they are so I need your help.
I will mainly focus on WvW and need a decent build.
I like DPS and utility (I mean deal damage in zergs and 1 v 1’s and still help out the team besides the damage output)
Any suggestions?
Mesmer seems really fun!
Which skills do you recommend me to use for dps + crowd control?
Any links for the builds? And what build would you recommend me to use when I hit 80 with 1 or 2 exotic parts?
There are entire threads dedicted to the one or two viable Ranger builds in existence, just look them up. Also, you should delay your purchase of exotics, chances are that after a while of lvl 80 Ranger gameplay you’ll notice the unavoidable flaws and reroll.
No. I don’t whine about classes. Instead I learn to use them.
Go full knights route using divinity runes(major not superior since im guessing uyour not rich) with the other 2 runes being anything you want….and put tht 20 in marksman in either wilderness or skirmishing. marksman is our worst trait line imo. It doesn’t signifacntly raise your attack. Having 20% more crit dmg in skirmishing or condi removal every 10 sec with added toughness in wilderness is way better. Also that 10 in healing magic…eh i’d just put somewhere else.
For wvw use shortbow and greatsword..keeep a longbow for zergs.
Is there any quick way to change from greatsword for longbow? and what would I use greatsword for
