I’m part of BC and was present when this incident occurred. Like my guild mate Boom said it was a misunderstanding. Only one of our members wanted to try to crash the fight club, he was honestly being a total tool about the whole thing. When we told him that he was making us all look bad and he shouldn’t be doing what he was trying to do he eventually just ended up leaving the guild entirely. So I’m very sorry for what happened, and despite that interruption I hope you all had a good time with the fight club. It was my first time ever seeing one, since I’ve only started to WvW on a regular basis only recently so I didn’t know what was going on at first till it was explained to me.

Northern Shiverpeaks has a good presence during primetime with a lot of good fights, Come check us out. And our tier is not a zergfest unless you prefer that type of style. Small groups do very well in our tier.

A good WvW player will find the most time and resource efficient way around that roadblock. In this case, overwhelm the PvP players with numbers. It only take a minute or two to do, and the road block is cleared without tying up a lot of resourses or making people run back from spawn from losing to a “fair fight.”

I’m sure saying this makes you feel good, but from having run with the PAXA folks for an evening a few days back, my experience was that it went more like this:
1. PAXA 5 man takes a camp
2. 20 invaders from NSP or GoM show up to take camp back, and PAXA 5 man kills all of them.
3. Move on to a different camp

They did wipe once that night, but they also won against 5 or 6 groups with 4x their numbers. And they kept a pair of camps red pretty much the whole time. My impression is that the camp taking is mostly to attract “good WvW players” like you describe, but it still worked.

And honestly, my experience in WvW leads me to believe that something like 75% of the people there are really terrible at PvP. I’ve run into more than one staff ele who “fought” me one-on-one by spamming 1 while attuned to fire…

OK time to settle the arguement, let’s all just agree… everyone who plays GW2 in WvW are kitten players. With this simple reasoning we should get along just fine. Get beat when your outnumbered, hey it just means they kittened real bad and needed the numbers to beat you. Beat back a zerg with fewer numbers, no worries, they too were terrible players, but pat yourself on the back. Run solo and win a few 1 vs 3 or more, celebrate you just beat lesser players!

Just have fun, do whatever you want to do, win how you wanna win, run with as many peeps as you want to, just please, please, please “SHUT UP with the whole my dad is better than your dad”, it’s getting really old.

This is quite the wishful thinking. It’s less of “infighting” and more of laugh at the “town idiot.” It’s quite the unanimous opinion of the server, and the person already said that they would transfer if free transfers were to ever come back up. But since they likely won’t, we have to find some amusement in him being here.

Hey remember that one time where we had a 1v1 and you used an elite but I didn’t use an elite but to be fair you didn’t use your utilities but I did use my utilities and it was in the water and all the krait were on me and you stealthed but when you came out of stealth the quaggons were on you and the mosquitoes were in the distance and a zerg ran by single file and bowed one at a time and then together we dueled them and won?

That was a pretty good time.

Hey, X Braveheart. Could have asked Sekz before transferring to Yak’s Bend. They’ve been on a rise and fall between tier 3 / tier 4 for months. Kings one week and dumpsters another week. The fairweathers morale plummets quite quick against the new Jaspenwoods.

So Sekz has left? And MoB? Wow ive been away from the forums too long…. If its true good luck to ya. Can’t say I’ll miss you, not becasue you weren’t appreciate it but because in all honesty the one thing that I care about is loyalty… Been here since launch and proud of the rises and disappointed in the falls, but I won’t leave cause I have a lot of pride and the server and love the community.

Ummm did I miss an announcement or something? Is Sekz leaving NSP for another server? Hope not. I think they are a good guild when they are all together. They wprk pretty well as a team. Nice to have organized groups on our side. Im not trying to open up the debate that has been raging about Sekz. Just curious as to their plans.

NSP Pride, thanks to AR and BP both for the multitude of badges and kills! IT WAS EPIC. We held and that says alot for how our server rallied when we were being attacked on both sides. I remember BP’s defense at their keep (I think it was last week) and gave them props, I would expect the same! Fun times this week!

Had a good time in BP BL running around with Paxa. I’m gonna give them props, since there seems to be a lot of haters. Still can’t figure that out…. Point is to keep the other servers busy in their borderlands capping camps to pull from other places you are having a hard time defending. Seems like we are doing a pretty good job of that this weekittenep it up. Nice to see the NSP pride in full force!

Actually, hey BP and NSP, there is a group of AR players that hits the grub and the east side of SM every few minutes from around 4 pm est. Do with this info what you will, but I bet there are free badges in there somewhere.

Yeah was definitely a head scratcher… One minute I’m trebbing the gate, then some noob pulls the grub to our location. Then no one would listen and let it reset. So we just killed it, biggest waste of the nite. Oh well….

Had fun fighting the ele and thieves 1v1 last night in AR BL. Good break from the capping grind and nice to do a little fight club once in awhile. Also you guys are correct we have seen a bigger population this week and its making a difference. Still no Q’s tho.

Proud of NSP peeps. We are showing a lot more discipline without the numbers. Keep it up guys! Hoorah!

@ BSP forum members who need a clue.

First off. You really shouldn’t come to the forums and complain about being double teamed. Especially if the entire design behind wvwvw, that’s 3 Ws, is a constant double team.

Second, if you know well that this tier can at best Q one map during non prime time, 2 during prime time. You shouldn’t make the strategic decision to take and hold SM in the one map that begs double team.

Third, don’t make statements that come across as the following; " When it happens to us its double teaming, when it happens to you its WvW." You come across as QQ cry babies , and that only invites, further double teaming.

Last but not least. If you haven’t figured it out by now. If you take and hold SM , we take all your other stuff. NSP has figured it out, why can’t you?

Lol seriously show the picture of two teams sieging the third in 900 range of each other. It’s cool you can double team us we don’t mind the badges.

On a less trollish note it really did show a lot of discipline to have two big groups not attack each other.

We actually did attack each other when we got a little too close to each other. It was unintentional as we were both waiting for the same thing apparently. For us it was AR to push in then wipe them to get the keep. But you guys did a good job defending, the Necros and AC’s you had down were beating us back pretty good. And the fact we had only 1-2 ele’s didn’t help either. No excuses, but I wish we had the AoE coverage we needed to push in.

Honestly it varies. Most of us are in our early to mid 30’s with families, but we have a pretty diverse group. College age and a few high school aged kids. We like to have a good group for all ranges of players. Some are focused on leveling their characters, others are grinding for gear and legendary materials. (I just did that grind for 4 months to get my Sunrise), and others are involved in WvW. It’s pretty cool to have a group of guildies to run dungeons with and help out when we can.

Personally I’m spending a lot of time in WvW. Eventually when we get a group hardy group leveled up we hope to do quite a bit more WvW.

I don’t have a prob with zerging, but I think it would be neat if the commander icons could have 20-25 max in a squad. Then even if they have their tag on, if you are not on their squad you can’t see their icon on the map. This will cause the commanders to work with the map communication and really earn their tag. Commanders without a squad are just people that felt the need to spend 100g

No, if, ands or buts about it. Guild Wars 2 WvW sucks for small guilds.

By small I mean those guilds that field under 10 people a night, and who want to engage in PvP activity appropriate to their numbers. (And not for example be the nucleus of a larger zerg. There are many commanders from smaller guilds, at least on my server that are successful).

In the past, in response to this criticism Anet said there are camps to cap and sentries to take. However, this is a PvE solution, and not what small guilds are looking for in WvW. And in the case of a camp, there is no sense waiting around for the PvP to come because it will be a zerg that shows up to take it back.

This has happened because play on the higher tiers has become centred on guild zerg group vs. guild zerg group. There is pressure for smaller guilds to merge into the larger because this is what it takes to succeed in the new environment.

It also gives the larger guilds a say beyond their numbers in how maps should be run. If a smaller guild doesn’t like it, they can’t go off to a corner of the map and do their own thing, because the zergs will be there as well. The only solution is to go to another map and hope the large guild there is not having a negative influence.

For mid-size guilds, say those fielding 15+ a night, it is possible to be an anti-zerg squad, though only against unorganized Pugs. But again this is out of the reach of smaller guilds who want to operate as a unit.

How did the game end up like this? Map design is one factor: they are small, and people happen upon each other too easily. Mechanics like the Downed State allow zergs to rez their members too easily. Even lack of the Trinity contributes, as you can’t take out the healers first, and then work on the rest.

How to fix it? Here I can only guess, but here are some easy changes first. Bigger maps might allow small groups to move about easier and hide. Making nameplates less visible, allowing small group more surprise.

The harder changes involve the combat systems, and here I think drastic measures are required if the dominance of zerg play is to be reduced.

Just reducing the hp of the Downed State in WvW isn’t enough, because anyone can rez. And with enough hands in the zerg, even defeated players are on their feet soon. The most direct fix is reintroducing part of the Trinity and allowing only certain classes to rez. Once those classes are down, attrition takes its toll on the zerg. If that is going too far, make it so defeated players cannot be rezed in WvW. They have to respawn. If the hp of the Downed State is reduced somewhat, making spikes quicker, a small skillful group could find its way to victory.

As has been said in countless MMO studies, it is the social ties that keep people involved in a game. But in WvW, small guilds have a problem creating those ties because they can’t do anything together. And in fact, the current situation actually eats away at those ties, by pressuring people into larger guilds. For those who don’t want to be in a large guild, the only solution often is simply to stop playing WvW.

TL;DR: GW2 WvW sucks for small guilds.

Switch to a lower tier Server and you will enjoy it more. Come to Northern Shiverpeaks. Small groups make a huge difference. In facct 10 is a good size for just about anything here. You ought to consider it.

Either way, seems like a lot of Aion players moved to Gw2. Quite a few on nsp, actually. I was playing in Let’s all shout bad for a while, also discreet, lots of ganking involved on my part. But yeah, overall the whole PAXA thing is kinda nice. Gives Os a break from the hating for a while. usually it’s us who get hated on.

Nah, I appreciate all of the guilds representing in WvW. Our guild is pretty heavy into PvE stuff right now but slowly we are getting a few more wanting to get into the WvW. I appreciate Os for sticking around! Also special shout out to Noroz and Moon for commanding in EB when we where severely outnumbered and keeping what we had while we got our BL back. Drop down a tier to the Northern SP server. Balanced pvE server so its for all types of guilds, we just need more coverage in WvW. Come and join in on the fun.

PAXA boys are pretty slick. I was running around with them last night and there where no times that we were not outnumbered

NSP is the place to be, very skilled players that are used to overwhelming odds. We are always a tough matchup.

A lot of skilled players on NSP. We have to be as we are constantly outnumbered…. but we always hold our own and always put up a good fight. We just lack the coverage to be in all maps.

Would love to have you on Northern Shiverpeaks Server. Everyone thought we would get rolled this week because we had a few guilds transfer to Kain last week. But ask the AR and BP boys, they are in a dogfight. It has been the most even matchup I’ve been apart of in a long time! Most of us here are original NSP members and we welcome all new guikd who want to help us move up and compete!

Just saw your post, not sure if you have found a new home, but I am one of the leaders in a guild the Knight of the Republic on the NS server. We use vent and try to have a guild boost or two current 24/7. We are a casual guild that does a lot of farming, leveling new characters, helping with crafting and dungeon runs.
