I felt like this expansion was Overall good content. I like the Specializations (and very glad of the reduction to the hero points needed to unlock fully, due to having a ton of alts). The maps are very nice even though there are only 4 new ones they are for the most part very immersive in there layout. Guild Halls are great and I am enjoying that part of it as well. The content is definitely for challenging and fun. Overall the Open World content is great once you figure out how to get around the maps and I feel that ANet did a great job with that.

I hate WvW now. The BL map is terrible and finding fights is a horrendous tasks. The new maps encourage having a commander tag and zerging from one place to another even worse than before. Think EoTM 2.0. Overall its a fail and needs some serious work. Add gliding as a way to get around in the new maps and it would be a whole lot more fun to play in. Otherwise it is an overgrown PvE map and not what us WvW players want.

Now on to what I wanted to post in this thread as it relates to the story content. I do not like to criticize anyone but I felt the need to offer some harsh realities to the Story Team.

After I completed all of the story arcs, I literally said “WHAAAAAAA?” I feel like I am not the only one who felt this way, that left you with a sense of confusion and in my case, “Where did they pull that out of?”. Lemme explain with Sarcasm included

First, Rytlock…. Where did he come from? Oh right…..He doesn’t want to talk about it right now, but he will LATER. How did he get to Verdant? hmmmm. As the story moves along, he tells us that while he was in the Mists he met, wait…. that’s not right, oh I forgot, our PC never asks him about it again even at the end. Weird right?

Second, I did like the Eir sequence and felt it was actually a good part to the story. (I pressed F to honor, bet you did to) The cinematic was great and sorta made you hate Faolain more so I think the Story Krew deserves some kudos here.

Thirdly, The exalted arc was pointless, no wait it wasn’t it was about the Egg (Remember that thing that Caithe took). Well speaking of Caithe, Enter Caithe….. Wait, WHAT? Why is she here? Well we find out that the egg was her NEW wyld hunt. Again, what? Who gave her this new wyld hunt, Pale tree? Nope wasn’t the Pale Tree, she said she had no idea what Caithe was planning or doing in LS2. She loses the egg so I guess her hunt is over she’s fine now time to kill Faolin. Yeah mmmmk that made sense, but it solved the whole Caithe stealing the egg thing.

The exalted seem to just be thrown in, but the lore aspect is lacking and how they related to Mordremoth was completely left out in the PS. Overall we pretty much zipped through Auric without getting alot of info about the exalted and I was completely disappointed with the writing and speed of it.

Then we get to Rata Novus. I actually like this place but to me it was a story arc that did only develop Taimi’s character a little proving she was part of the team. That part made sense to me but it related nothing to the story. “Mordremoth has a weakness!” Really? We find the answer here in Asura land right? Yeah…..um, nope. He has a weakness (like all elder dragons) so I guess that is worth something.

Ok the finale. Obviously journeying further into the Jungle. We have Caithe with us now because forgiveness. Get to kill Faolain so that was good. Then we get to Zojia/Logan, I guess they both live but was pretty much meh. And our Traehearne, poor guy, I felt pretty bad for the guy. This was the point that I felt ANet definitely dropped the ball and was likely due to the story deadline. Could’ve let us know why T was so important. Oh idk maybe because he was the FIrst Firstborne or something along those lines…..just a thought. Could’ve squeezed that in there somewhere. Then we listen to kas and morj basically the whole time saying it can’t be this easy it must be a trap, yeah it must be. Oh, wait, nope it in’t a trap and it is that easy. Well we know Modremoth has a weakness….only if we knew what it was…… I got it we can access his mind and enter the dream! Wait….WHAAAAA? And you figured that out because………(ANet slips one by us…shhhh maybe they won’t notice) Ok so this dream but how in the world can we access the dream? Ok OK OK I got it, Traehearne lets do this! STAHP IT PLZ! What is this ANet? Tra can now access the dream. Was pretty much sold on the fact that only the Pale Tree could do that. SO where did all this come from? Honestly I cannot see where the Story team thought this through (BUT I would’ve loved to see that run through in person). This was the main thing that made no sense, there were others (the rift, random) but by a mile this was the biggest rushed part of the whole thing. Boss fight was a fun mechanic fight and Anet did a solid Job but Mordremoth looked pretty much like a deformed bull or something. Finally gotta kill Tra, sad but had to be done he was too embedded into Mordremoth (physically connected) and I really think ANet nailed this part.

That ending tho….. Was it like a Sopranos moment? Fade to Black…..

Where was the epilogue? Disappointed like most people were in this.

Best thing was the PC was in fact the unquestioned leader and was really well done.

Overall HoT is great but the Story was really lacking, rushed and they completely missed the lore opportunities and facts that they had laid in placed. I would say that they had better not wait to long for LS3 and better address the flaws in the story or simply fire the Story and Lore team. Sry Bobby but it was sadly done. Maybe it was a problem with the actors and their availability or maybe it was a time thing, but the content was very little on the story side for an expansion.

Sorry for the long post but it hasn’t been said so I thought I would do the dirty deed. Feel free to disagree.

Depends on what aspect of WvW you enjoy playing. If you are looking to be a Zerg piece then any top 3 tiers would suffice. If you are looking to solo roam I would say tier 3-5, if you are looking to be apart of a small man group looking for fights I would say tier 3 (here’s hoping, we are not there yet, but this is what suits my guild). More havoc style ppt focus, tier 1-2. GoM, DH, HoD, IoJ, NSP, maybe ET all have good assortments for play style, which we have seen over the last six months.

I would say if you enjoy a solid and stable community, NSP is probably the best place to be. Good group of players and we have several small man guilds like mine that enjoy the aspects of Havoc rather than blobs. We have that too, just like every other server but you really can’t do any better than our server as it relates to server stability. Our performance this past season (if you care about ppt) is proof enough of the pride most folks have. Or you can go to a server we face, cause my guild likes to fight havoc groups as we run a 3-6 man usually.

Friendly bump, have a had a good time fighting this guild the past few weeks.

Hoping that as NSP moves out of the silver tier we will get more fights and not the 4vs 15-20 we unfortunately run into. That being said we have seen more servers moving into the 8-10 man range which we like quite well outside of the even number fights. Hard rezzing is usually an issue in groups of more than 8. So if your interested in the small man mechanic look me up in game.

It’s either 5 VS 20 or you guys 5 VS 1 poor guy who got ganked so bad for roaming.
So you should have no complaint

Nope no complaint here, it is what it is. We typically will ignore solo roamers unless they get cutsie and follow us around or if they happen to be a familiar tag that we know will bring more.

Not sure how big their guild (we fought an 8 man) is but we have had a few fights with them with our 3-5 man group and its been a lot of fun. At least they are one of the few that steps outside of their server BLOBS and thats respectable imo.

Thats always been the problem with most people. My comment was directed at the first replying post and it was said in jest. The point of it is simply people would say can’t do it… people troll… done… move along… nothing to see here. My comment was simply to say, “well, intead of actually having a discussion, you are right ANET should do nothing which is was they are doing anyways.” Hope that helps :-)

As to the siege decay problem: any superior siege should have no limit, except rams. That is a great idea that i have seen posted. As to that, yes there will be trolls just like there will be bad pvpers in wvw. Can’t do anything about that, it will happen, but you can’t just not do anything because a few people are trying to ruin it.

Getting rid of siege decay timers on all siege except rams would make wvw a lot more enjoyable for those that spend their time focused on defending. In all honestyit would make it more enjoyable for everyone imo….. ANET please get rid of it.

Thoughts?

We try to group up daily between 9-12 cst in the evenings. We all do have RL things that take priority but on a regular basis we can usually pull a full 5 man team with a few extras from time to time.

VoxL is a small man guild looking for players that are roamers and havoc minded. We like to have a lot of fun and usually find ourselves outmanned the majority of the time. We do not run the hammer train that wvw is becoming but have builds consistant with synergy of the group.

Currently we have 5-6 consistantly on in the evenings 10:00cst and are looking for a few more to have 2 full 5 man teams to battle the larger guilds we face in wvw. We prefer the open world style and do not enjoy the gvg meta. We are not zerg minded but we do help our server out with the ppt when there are no fights to be had, but honestly we are out for the fights. Our main job is to annoy and irritate the other servers to free up others on our server to take objectives if the want to.

It’s a laid back guild and we would love to have anyone interested in the havoc aspect of wvw to join us. Whisper me in game or send a mail for info.

Good luck to you guys. DH has lost a few guilds, but they still show up to fight. If you are looking at the bronze tier, check this one out. Some good players out there on this server. I have always enjoyed fighting them.

Consider NSP. It is never an easy fight but queues are not an issue and there are plenty of large and small scale fights that will challenge you. I would also suggest getting in with a guild that focuses what you are more interested in. Large guild for zergging or smaller guilds for havoc, small skirmishes, ninja tactics, Zerg busting. As you can tell, I favor the smaller scale due to the skill needed for survivability when outmanned and the need for a good team to support each other.

I think it will be acct bound legendaries tbh. There aren’t that many to choose from and it will make it much more alt friendly and reward those that have invested the time it takes to craft them (or unfortunately) buy them. I don’t think there will be acct bound wxp until the end of season 2, around June.

If your on NSP or thinking of moving over during the free transfers, consider VoxL as your new home. We continue to remain as a smaller guild focused mainly on harassing the opposing servers in a smaller group setting. We currently have 30 active guildies that run at all different times of the day, with a more organized grouping during The later hours of NA primetime. At that time we generally run in a group of 6-10. We are not a Zerg guild, but we would like to have a few more active to make our group closer to 10-15 due to the high amount of guilds we face that like to Zerg the map. We run a group setup that is tailored for smaller scale fights, but just lack some man power. If your interested in this type of fighting, send me an in game mail or PM myself or one of the other officers listed in the first post.

Need MOAR transfers please! We do what we always do, hold our own but coverage is an issue. With the end of free transfers ending soon, better jump on a server that is NOT a bandwagoner server and will be here stable as always when season 2 is done.

Challenge for me, within reason of course. What i mean by that is if i were to transfer it’d be to a silver tier server that has a possibility of uprooting either DB or FA (whichever of the two ends up in Silver). Gold would be out of the question because of how stacked TC/BG/JQ are and Bronze is…. well, it’s Bronze tier.

This is probably (or has been) our weakest time zone as far as coverage. We have a good presence and there are definitely people to fight but we do need some SEA / Ocx guilds hopefully to come over and keep the fights going. I know that some that have come over to our server have really enjoyed themselves so far and the community at large has been really receptive. We want people in our community, because that is where NSP sets itself apart from others. Community TS3 that you have access to, and also have the ability to have your own guild channel within the server. Big plus for smaller guilds that want to be apart of the community but also have their own sense of independence within the server.

Come on over! You will not be disappointed!

Great PvE server, we have only a few oceanic guilds, WvW is great and stable, but we are severely outmanned during ocx/sea primetimes. We are hoping the free transfers can help close the gaps in coverage.

VoxL is fairly new guild that I founded when I left my previous guild KOTR to focus more on WvW and PvP. We took skilled PvE players and placed a primary focus on small team 5-15 man Havoc squad tactics in WvW. Most times we run 2-4 man and other nights have 10-15 on. We are having a blast here on NSP and would love to have more people become involved so that we can have a more involved presence on our server. We still are involved with organizing large scale ninja golem rushes for our server and tower/keep captures but really enjoy the fights. Our goal is to help our server win so we go where the fights are sometimes when coverage may be lacking, but our primary focus is to have fun. We are not elitist because we have lives outside of the game but we hold our own well when we are online.

If you are on NSP or looking to join NSP when transfers open up and are looking for a small WvW guild, look me up in game or send me a mail and I will get back to you. We do PvE when the new achievement stories come out but once we get our meta we bail and head to WvW. Currently working on completing our full guild upgrades so we have access to guild commendations due to us leaving our previous guild for our new home.

Hey Barqs shoot me a mail in game. I am rebooting my previous guild KOTR into a new one to give people a fresh start. As you know, NSP has lost a lot of people to otger servers, guesting for wurm, etc. but we are trying to keep our little group together and still have a good time in TS and in game antics. We are a slimmed down guild now with about 20 of us but all are active and we like it that way. PM in game if interested. We like to have fun, but its 18+ only. Thought I would throw that out there.

I would check out NSP. Zos, TFG, Os and Mesi are primary wvw guilds.

Not really, NSP people have families and we have been trolled all week by a few guys who clearly are FC or working with someone from FC. Destroying golems, FC magically shows up when no one is around but that guy, can’t place siege with him throwing it on top stacking it. Just ready to be done with FC tbh and get rid of that kittener. With threads being closed anyways that’s my rage for the end of the forums as we know it.

This isn’t meant to be offensive but i think we all know what will happen when either the current NSP or HoD matchup against any of the other Silver Leagues servers, even during this WvW period of downtime. I myself have spent the last week trying new builds, uplevels etc.
It’s not an excuse and Hod and NsP have outplayed us so far this match up but what i am saying is i wouldn’t take any sort of outcome seriously over the next month or so.

Were you sleeping during season 1? NSP has faced every one of the silver league servers, all without getting mass transfers. We have been fighting really well this week and a lot of the credit can be pointed at XOXO and ZoS for having a tier 3 Hills in your BL. As we see now FA is a tier 2 and YB and SBI aren’t too far behind. We stayed, we played, and we are still playing, again without large guild transfers. Gotta give a shout out to HoD and CD this week, I have had a ton of great fights and I for one am happy to be where we are. Well deserved and well fought for NSP!

eh it is as intended but a simple fix would take care of it. ANet simply needs to make it impossible to port through walls of a tower or keep unless its been broken through by gate or wall. Almost like a wall = portal barrier. Won’t happen but oh well.

Lot of fight last night, was fun bouncing between the CD and HoD zergs last night. I’m sure many bags were had. Probably the most fun I had was trolling the zergs when we were outmanned with 2 zergs in our BL into the invul spot outside of Longview. I love when zerglings are not the smartest and die with 20-30 buddies around!
