I loved both of the Halloween PvP mini-games, and I played Lunatic Inquisition more as I enjoyed the challenge of survival.
I was the last survivor (and top player) countless times, and I absolutely loved Ripper, but it felt a bit weak. The best I could do with it was get 5 kills. Which is very low, considering it one hit kills lunatics and they were pretty much standing still. The survivability of it is just terrible. Miss with it and you’re screwed because you can’t move. Once the Ripper appears I think a skilled villager should feel OK to get out of hiding and reap some lunatics. Evading all attacks during the channeling, or removing the snare come to mind.
Also it would be nice if there was a command immunity for a brief time after you have successfully obeyed one. Immunity duration long enough for stealth to be available just before the next command runs out of time? Assuming you’d be hammered with commands by multiple lunatics.
Being the top player as a villager rewarded me with 10 pToTs and I think I got over 200 pToTs from Lunatic Inquisition.
There’s just one annoying issue I had with the mini-games and this is that I could not join a friend’s game unless lucky or she/he left and we timed our join.

Loved it. Want moar of the same.
The far away camera distance was intended for boss fights and I sincerely hope it stays that way.
The Mad King instance bug made me realize how bad it is to have the camera so far. You can barely see the animations of characters, and the situational awareness this gives destroys stealth play as well as many maps designed for the default zoom. At Lunatic Inquisition I could see well over the walls.
…
I’ve been trying to get in to mad king’s realm for 2 hours now.
First I was in Queensdale, the event was bugged so I tried to get in by the normal doors. I saw a total of 2 pumpkin doors within an hour. Each one disappeared right under my nose.
My friend had been in the realm for the entire hour, came to Queensdale with me and soon after I decided to go to Gendarran Fields, 10 seconds later she got back in the realm from Queensdale.
I stayed in Gendarran and tried to finish the event that triggers them all, but even after an hour it still wasn’t complete. Found 2 pumpkin doors, both disappeared as I was approaching them. Typed /cry and stood still for 5 minutes.
I feel mortified and tortured.

Swapping 2 and 3 would be a very bad idea, even for a temporary fix.
Secret to playing a d/d, bringing Cannon back in Glass Cannon

I am as enlightened as Angel.
power and precision = junk.
Power+Precision+%damage = Glass cannon
I thought anyone stacking power and precision would be stacking % damage as well. Maybe that’s just me.
More legendaries will come later. Chill.
We have cleared the entrance to the Citadel of Flame!
prime example of the error on race weapon scale effect.
Actually , if you stop to notice the pic , it is not wrong scaled at all.
The problem is it is wrong placed on the back of the asura. If you note where each sword begin and end , and you note this.
Uhm… If you moved the human’s greatsword to be as low as the asura’s, it would impale the ground…

Thank you Evan for replying! ^u^
Are you kidding me, theres a ton of random nameless NPCs that have hilarious conversations! And you can easily tell who’s worth it to have a dialogue with simply by the fact that they have names, instead of being called “Villager”.
Anyone who says elementalists aren’t mages is kittening themselves. Anyways, I’d love to have a wife who “plays better” than me. Even if it means her playing something OP.
Sounds like the OP needs to roll an elementalist and learn about combos.
I’ve been saving my keys for a moment when the chests might give nice stuff. I may spend them in halloween but only if the skins look like something I would use. If they are steampunkish as the image in the website implies, nope not using my keys.
I just wanted to point out something regarding the next sentence in your blog:
“Id like to see a boss in Guild Wars 2 where they jumped up to a high balcony and throw bombs that you have to dodge, just something that that doesn’t make the Combat bland.”
Both of these kind of scenarios already exist in GW2. Not in dungeons, just outside in the world. Bombers on roof throwing bombs at you, at a certain point coming down from the roofs and onto the street. 4 Thief adds and a veteran all going to stealth simultaniously, surrounding the target and then attacking.
100% world completion does NOT mean that you have explored everything. Not by a long shot.
Keep in mind that WoW has been around for years while GW2 is nearing two months. Things like “pokemon” probably weren’t in WoW when it came out. GW2 is going to have several mini-games, one of them is keg-brawl which is already in.
I do agree with you though that Zhaitan was way too easy. And many world bosses too.
The tax is an excellent gold sink. The people buying low and selling high actually make that tax be taken twice. So it’s great for the economy as a whole. Screw individuals.
@Haette Shield Smack is great for smacking yourself in the face. I recommend it. As an asura the animation actually does this. Also hits your leg and the hand you’re smacking with goes through the shield.
Fire shield as a whole seems like a waste. I’d love to see Flame Barrier get replaced with something actually useful.
Honestly I don’t like this idea but it’s my personal bias. I already think the weapons are too large to a point where they look stupid, and it’s one of the things that irritates me most about the cosmetic look of the game. I actually want smaller, sleeker weapons.
Currently I end up using Krytan weapons a lot as in general they look the best with their ornate and simple look. Most weapons are too thick and too big. They at least manage to look somewhat normal even if they are oversized.
Roll an asura and use daggers. Barely visible.
Would Elementalists be able to use greatswords in the future?

As much as I’d like to see GS on eles, it seems unlike for Anet to do since there already is the elite… Battlemages are epic. :P
Its amazing how fast this thread drops off the front page, and yet agin amazing how much more pressing of a concern other “it dont make u sick so we can fix those!” issues are, compared to something that, by summing it up:
1. Makes people not feel sick while playing.
2. Lets us apreciate the beauty of the game. (Not a single person can say that seeing more is gonna make them enjoy the game less…)
and
3. All of the above + infinite loop….until its adressed and fixed.
~2 hours is enough to drop from first page and it’s a big game + many people have no clue what FoV is. :P
Agreed, the weapons are not on par with the other races scalings. Staff seems fine though.
There’re probably interested players out there, but it’s unlikely to happen. The thing is leveling areas are already desert now. Dynamic Events are designed to be played with other players, but yet they are alone most of the time and have trouble leveling smoothly. Anet are aware of the problem. Allowing player to change class instead of rolling alts will accentuate the problem.
I’m going to post just to Thank you for bringing the first viable, and strong, argument to the table.

I’m sure at least a few of the things you listed are already on their way.
As it is I feel that the autoattacks on conjurables are just a waste of time and charges. Either make the autoattacks worth the charge or make them not use charges at all. Fiery GS and Lightning Hammer have good autoattacks. Aside from Lightning Hammer draining charges like a mad man.
The cast times on all conjures should be the same. Conjure Earth Shield and Lightning Hammer are on longer cast times for who knows what reason.
Lightning Storm is like trying to shoot with a SMG at long range. Shield Smack is like smacking yourself in the face.
Currently, due to the weapon stats bug, conjurables are only viable at low levels in PvE, aside from Earth Shield for Fortify and Magnetic Shield.

Flamewall, Fire Shield, Freezing Gust and Gale are the skills that make Focus weak, which is half of the skills it gives. Anyone disagree?

@AlietteFaye Unless you stay in range. Then it’s stuck in combat forever and ever, locking you out of vistas and jumping puzzles.
I have a feeling that Anet already has plans for making it a dungeon.
Why is Glyph of Storms so much better in earth/water than in fire/air?
in Elementalist
Posted by: Taikanaru.5746
Rhyse, you mean the air glyph right? Fire is just a standard dot aoe.
As far as this skill goes, I think fire could be fixed with a 1s burn on each hit, idk about air though.
Air could cause vulnerability or daze.
I don’t need convincing that the Elementalist is good.
It’s great.
But there are things that need to get looked at. For example the Foci. Gale is a useless skill. The fire focus skills also need something changed with them.
We Elementalists also need more viable PvP and dungeon builds.
RTL is still bugged, which is by far the most annoying and noticeable bug the Elementalist has.
Lightning Surge and Dragon’s Tooth have cast times that needlessly increase skillcap, why Dragon’s Tooth isn’t ground-targetable is beyond me.
Many skill descriptions do not match the actual effects.
Elementals are weak. Conjures have weak autoattacks. Many traits are very weak (Conjurer, One with Fire, Flame Barrier, Obsidian Focus, Piercing Shards). Fire Shield is…
I have high expectations of Anet. That is all. Time for pew pew.
So… are you thinking, level a character to 80 and then switch what class they are? Cuz that’s just not going to happen.
Why is that?
The legendaries need fixing. Seems like only the greatswords were made properly. The stats are fine, though.
Yeah… My tooltip states 856 but I do half of that with it.
They nerfed Whirlpool to be as useful as Tornado, I guess. Tornado used to be better, too. We just aren’t allowed powerful elites.
The only weapon where I would stick to one attunement is Staff’s Fire, because their 1-3 are on lowish cooldowns and #1 actually does decent damage. And switching attunements doesn’t increase your damage. So at that point switching is only used for survival.
+1! I have it on auto and Ï keep aiming in places I didn’t mean to.
And to let us take a break and enjoy the scenery more, let’s take it even further, let’s gather some wood and make a campfire (cook the fish here) out of it, then all we need is some entertainment such as music, food and drinks.
I’d love to be able to play music in this game.
There have been only two MMORPGs where I’ve been blessed with the joys of being able to play music myself. These two were the best MMORPGs that I’ve played. (Not only because of it, obviously.)
I found an organ in Ebonhawke Stronghold. Lovely. Just needs improvements, more easily accessible keys, ability to hold down more than one key and no cooldowns. A game called Graal Online handles it pretty well. In it, to play music, you held down arrow keys combined with WASD keys. Even someone like me could play stuff on it, and I’m no musician. Just needed the “notes”, which looked like this <sd^w(a)vds>as.

For anyone looking for a healing class in GW2, here you go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWXrDAs3dcA
Note that this is only one among many of the healing classes available.
It definitely is a bit discouraging to not have progressed at all in PvE once getting out of a lengthy PvP session. It separates the playerbase, which is bad. This is further enhanced by it also separating your gear, but still using the same inventory space.
The barrier between PvE and PvP needs to be lifted. So what if they would “miss out” on content if they got a little bit of exp from PvPing – a lot of players PvEing are already missing out on a lot of it, largely due to the nature of dynamic events.
One thing that would lift the barrier between PvE and PvP is a separate inventory for PvP items, as Vayra already mentioned.
You’d have to be crazy not to sign this.
But for the time being, I just try to avoid being in downed state
That includes running away. I can’t count the number of times where I’ve been focused for being an ele, turned tail and ran, and my allies destroyed everyone chasing me
Thanks for this tip, I’ll be using this trick in WvW every time now.
Hey noobdestroyer, know that 20% damage to knocked down super cool and strong trait you were using as an example to say eles are fine?
Yeah. Doesn’t work with updraft (blowback not KD, test and see), and you have nothing in earth that can do a big hit to take advantage of a 2 second KD. Your big hit is a 5 second cast.
Tip: Use Earthquake, immediately swap to fire/air then burn CDs. Swapping doesn’t cancel channeling.
They do have at least one person, John Smith, watching the economy.
Unsteady Ground is a skill that also misses. This is higly terrain related. It also has a slow start so putting it in front of enemies will make it miss. Best bet is to put it a few feet in front of you on completely flat ground.
Personally I feel that Fire Grab’s accuracy is fine as it is, aside from missing because of terrain.

If they don’t wanna do it, there must be some reason behind it.
The only reason I’m seeing at the moment is exactly that – they don’t wanna do it.
Oh well. It is their game after all. I wouldn’t mind being able to change race at some point. Any time soon is obviously out of the question, there’s just too much other work to do.
Elementalist is not really that hard once you learn what all your skills do… Then it just boils down to cooldowns and being able to actually land hits. Right now I think the biggest issue with elementalist is the low survivability and landing successful hits.
That includes running away. I can’t count the number of times where I’ve been focused for being an ele, turned tail and ran, and my allies destroyed everyone chasing me
