Quick suggestion for the gate controller though: target it before the door closes, summon flesh golem, use BiP as it opens, flash deathshroud, ghastly claws while approaching, drop WoS, weapon swap dagger auto. Instead of the other minion use Signet of Spite. Its the only instance in the game where that kittening signet is useful. Then just swap it back out before the effigy. Give it a try, I melt the controller with this combo.
I have been doing this only dropping both WoS and WoC instead of using Signet of Spite. Do you get more total DPS from the power boost with spite?
I’ve tried using WoC and WoS instead of WoS and Sig of Spite, but the Sig “feels” faster. The passive 180 power boost is excellent for this instance.
Only time you’ll ever hear me say anything nice about that utility. Hopefully that changes with the upcoming patch. I really need to run a video of myself doing the controller and enable combat logs to get a concrete answer as to which is truly more effective. I’ll see if I can answer that this weekend.
I am really excited for the demotion of axe training to master instead of GM. No longer having to choose between axe training and CtD in GM…..
oh man….
So cool to see this. I have my zerk mes and war for CoF, but my necro is my main and love playing it more than my other characters. I have an awesome guild group that does both optimized and diverse CoF farming and I love going on my power necro.

Again, well done and ty for the vid!

About Precursor Gambling:
I made alot of gambling sessions in the last month. Started with Basic MF (5 Pirates and +3 on each Cloth) and had only trash using rare Greatswords. Then i started to rush my MF gear up, got accecoires and used MF Food and 25 Charges on my MF Greatsword. With bonfire or the Booster i had 2XX MF and my results got really good. I had 4 out of 10 Gambles a exotic as result(at one session i had even more exotics!). Not always the expensivest but i got enough Money with it to continue gambling without great loss. After 20 Gold i had Sunrise.
People always tell me that MF has nothing to do with the Forge but these are my results and i had more than 1 session.
Maybe it helps the Gamblers.
You noticed a placebo effect. Nothing more. As you pointed out, people say magic find does not affect the forge…. because it doesn’t. After God knows how many thousands of rares and 4 precursors I’ve come to know this: as crazy as precursor drops may be, the exotic return rate of 20% is incredibly consistent. I’ve forged 150 rares and gotten nothing but rares back. I’ve had stretches where every other forge returned an exo. It may take time, but it always balances itself out.
When I see someone running around with a legendary, I respect that achievement because I know they played the kitten out of every aspect of the game – including the aspects I (or they) find annoying or tedious.
Actually when I see someone running around with a legendary, I usually think gem-store. I honestly feel most players toting a legendary are doing so with financial assistance from trading gems for gold.
You can “buy” your way through nearly all of the grind except for exploration and badges (and those are the only “play-the-game” aspects of the Legendary anwyay). Hell, you can even flat-out buy the legendary off the TP.
Most players in our guild that have a legendary have done so with cash-shop assistance or with player assistance.
That’s excessively cynical, imo. Do people do that? I’m sure they do. But I think it’s unfair to assume that most people do. I have 3 legendary weapons. I’ve never asked for or wanted help from guildmates or other players, I don’t flip on the TP, and I’m too broke to buy gems just to convert them to gold. I’ve been playing the game since launch and it has taken me that long to do all 3. I just play the game. Most of the players in my guild finished theirs by themselves as well. Again, I know some people make credit card legendary weapons, or by getting a lot of assistance from other players, but not all.
Getting back on topic…
About badges- it can feel grindy, but no more so than other parts of making a legendary, and it is certainly not the worst part. I used to hate WvW (not anymore), so I sympathize with those who don’t enjoy it, but just remember that there are players who hate PvE, and they have to spend more time doing that to finish their weapons than you have to spend in WvW.
I play WvW a few times a week. If I’m zerging through EB I usually average about 100 badges every 3-4 hours. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It’s possible to get 100 badges in under an hour, but as someone else pointed out, that’s not sustainable nor is it a realistic expectation. The other thing that’s important to remember about doing WvW is it’s also a really good way to get karma. When moving with a zerg you’ll constantly be flipping control points, camps, and towers, (and sometimes a keep or even SMC) all of which give you karma. If you find a guild karma banner and/or have other karma boosts, it can really add up and help you with getting your obsidian shards.
If you hate WvW, just run the JPs. The easiest jp to do is the one in your home borderland, since you start relatively close to the puzzle entrance and its more likely you’ll have a stronger presence of allied players there than in the borderlands of the other servers. We all have a minimum of 5 character slots. USE THEM. The Mistwrought Chest from the Borderlands jps gives you 3-6 badges every time you open it. Each character can open it once every 24 hours. That’s 15-30 badges per day if you ONLY do the puzzle in your borderlands. If each character runs all 3 BL jps, that’s a minimum of 45 badges a day, and you’ll probably average closer to 60-65. If you have purchased additional character slots, all these numbers go up even higher. Then there is the Obsidian Sanctum jp in the Eternal Battlegrounds. This puzzle is now account bound, (used to be soul bound) so you can only run it once every 24 hours total, not once per character. That chest is another 10-20 badges every time you open it.
tl;dr
Don’t wait to work on badges. Do them concurrently while working on other parts of your legendary. Using only the jps, badges should be done in 3 weeks with the least amount of effort, and less than a week if you really try.

Pretty sure these are the weapon models for the Dragon’s Jade Axe and Shield.

You guys are right. Don’t care what anyone from the dev team says, they nerfed the kitten out of the FotM loot table. I’m at lvl 42 and used to run all 4 dailies every day. Now its rare if I even do 1 of them. And I haven’t bothered with a 30+ run in weeks. Why do it? There’s no point any more. Greater difficulty without any reward.

Attacker’s Bane:
You take no damage for 4 seconds. 50% (or some percentage) of the damage you would have taken is redirected to the target you have applied the condition to. 90 second CD. Tweak as needed so as not to be OP.
I played a condition build from launch up to about 2 months ago and loved it. I still love it. But the problems you pointed out are the exact same issues that caused me to start experimenting with power builds, and I love those as well and will probably stick with it for awhile. The situations mentioned are not nearly common enough to permanently cripple the build in dungeon runs, but they come up just often enough to make it a problem. I actually made a 3rd set of armor with knights stats and slotted with ruby orbs and carried it (along with a zerker axe, focus, and war horn) at all times just so I wouldn’t be utterly useless for those instances. Without a complete build it wasn’t gloriously effective, but a hell of a lot better than before. I would love to see the changes you mentioned implemented.
Bifrost: looks great, but not for me. Also doesn’t fit the necro motif. I’m the master of death and you want me to run around with a rainbow staff?! GTFO.
Howler: not bad, but not great. Couldn’t justify the effort of getting it for what it is.
Frost fang: very cool, but doesn’t fit my look. I went for Titans Vengeance instead and love it.
Meteorlogicus: cotton ball on a stick.
The Minstrel: LOL
Incinerator: pretty sweet and what I’m going for. Not amazing but cool enough to justify the effort. Only real beef is I don’t run a MH dagger build atm so it will be relegated to offhand with scepter.
Personally I’d love a Twilight staff, or something more necro-ish.
Ultimately legendary weaps offer no real benefit, so if you don’t really love one, probably nit worth the effort.

Skins I’ve received so far: fractal hammer, fractal rifle, fractal mace, and fractal harpoon gun… I’m a kittening Necro!! It took months just to get those and I won’t even want them. I stopped doing 40+ runs cause its just not worth it anymore.
Magic find works perfectly well and as intended. It gives you a small increase in loot quality. The effect cannot be measured over the course of a few minutes or hours or days. I used a full MF set for the first few months after launch, and stopped using it around December. (Not because I was trying to study magic find, but because it kittening sucks for group play and dungeon effectiveness, which I started doing heavily around that time). The difference is clear: loot is slightly worse, survivability and DPS are much much better. I greatly prefer the latter. Do your party a favor and ditch the MF.
If you’re running in a PUG: majority rules, end of discussion. The jade maw trash, for instance. I always want to farm it, and I’ve found a lot of people want to as well. However if its a pug group and most people want to skip it, I have no problem with going along with the group. The only exception is if the instance owner specifies ahead of time “we’re skipping/killing”. Give people the info ahead of time and you can avoid group discord when you’re doing the run. Almost always works. You have every right to specify what content you want to do, but the group has the right to know the plan ahead of time, or have a say in the matter if there is no plan.
Even as someone who prefers to kill all, there is however, content where skipping is almost always the way to go. CoF path 1, SE path 3, ect.

yeah im currently having the same problem as you are right now, and it seems like we wasted those points and gold <.< i already infused both rings and i can only wear one of them <.< it sucks since i wasted those points and gold >< if yu guys know a solution to this problem, other than getting another 1 plz do tell
Not to be rude, but there is no solution because there is no problem. It’s just the way the unique items work. There are multiple versions of these items with the exact same stats, you just need to get the other ring.
Ex. Crystalline Band and Red Ring of Death
I personally think there is a relatively obvious fix to this issue: bypass transmutation altogether by introducing new recipes to the mystic forge for each legendary using the same stat combination formula used when crafting regular weapons at the weaponsmith, artificer, or huntsman stations.
Example: Twilight + 1 mystic coin + 1 skill point crystal + 1 vial of powerful blood= Twilight with beserker stats.
Swap out the blood for an armored scale to get knights stats, ect, ect.
Given the time investment to make a legendary, its silly that we have to mess around with transmutation to get the stats we want.
I wasn’t mad until I noticed I lost Golden and Survivor achievements. They better fix this.
I got The Legend from a random mob in dredge fractal today. So there is a chance.
I can confirm this as well. Got Leaf of Kudzu from one of the vets in the Ascalonian City while doing my Level 10 Daily. Sold outright for 175g.
Thanks for the replies, everybody. I LOVE the look of this thing, perfect for my red/black necro. I do, in fact, have the gold, but tracking it down is part of the fun. However after several weeks and no progress of any kind, I needed an answer.

I’m looking for the exotic scepter Emberglow. It’s available on the TP, but how else can it be acquired?
Can it be crafted in the Mystic Forge? If so, does anyone know the recipe?
Can you get it from a drop? If so, where?
I’ve searched all over the web and these forums and only find references to it and people who have it, but no info on where to acquire it (other than buying it).
Thanks!
